Today's Date: ======= 1 Samuel 11:1 ============ 1Sa 11:1 Now Nahash the Ammonite came up and besieged Jabesh-gilead; and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us and we will serve you."(nasb) 1Sa 11:1 καὶ ἐγενήθη ὡς μετὰ μῆνα καὶ ἀνέβη Ναας ὁ Αμμανίτης καὶ παρεμβάλλει ἐπὶ Ιαβις Γαλααδ καὶ εἶπον πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες Ιαβις πρὸς Ναας τὸν Αμμανίτην διάθου ἡμῖν διαθήκην καὶ δουλεύσομέν σοι (lxx) 1Sa 11:1 Et factum est quasi post mensem, ascendit Naas Ammonites, et pugnare cœpit adversum Jabes Galaad. Dixeruntque omnes viri Jabes ad Naas: Habeto nos fœderatos, et serviemus tibi.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:1 Es zog aber herauf Nahas, der Ammoniter, und belagerte Jabes in Gilead. Und alle Männer zu Jabes sprachen zu Nahas: Mache einen Bund mit uns, so wollen wir dir dienen.(dhs) 1Sa 11:1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabesh Gilead; and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:2 ============ 1Sa 11:2 But Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "I will make it with you on this condition, that I will gouge out the right eye of every one of you, thus I will make it a reproach on all Israel."(nasb) 1Sa 11:2 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ναας ὁ Αμμανίτης ἐν ταύτῃ διαθήσομαι ὑμῖν διαθήκην ἐν τῷ ἐξορύξαι ὑμῶν πάντα ὀφθαλμὸν δεξιόν καὶ θήσομαι ὄνειδος ἐπὶ Ισραηλ (lxx) 1Sa 11:2 Et respondit ad eos Naas Ammonites: In hoc feriam vobiscum fœdus, ut eruam omnium vestrum oculos dextros, ponamque vos opprobrium in universo Israël.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:2 Aber Nahas, der Ammoniter, antwortete ihnen: Darin will ich einen Bund mit euch machen, daß ich euch das rechte Auge aussteche und bringe damit Schmach über ganz Israel.(dhs) 1Sa 11:2 And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, "On this condition I will make a covenant with you, that I may put out all your right eyes, and bring reproach on all Israel."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:3 ============ 1Sa 11:3 The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Let us alone for seven days, that we may send messengers throughout the territory of Israel. Then, if there is no one to deliver us, we will come out to you."(nasb) 1Sa 11:3 καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ ἄνδρες Ιαβις ἄνες ἡμῖν ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας καὶ ἀποστελοῦμεν ἀγγέλους εἰς πᾶν ὅριον Ισραηλ ἐὰν μὴ ᾖ ὁ σῴζων ἡμᾶς ἐξελευσόμεθα πρὸς ὑμᾶς (lxx) 1Sa 11:3 Et dixerunt ad eum seniores Jabes: Concede nobis septem dies, ut mittamus nuntios ad universos terminos Israël, et si non fuerit qui defendat nos, egrediemur ad te.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:3 Da sprachen zu ihm die Ältesten zu Jabes: Gib uns sieben Tage, daß wir Boten senden in alles Gebiet Israels; ist dann niemand, der uns rette, so wollen wir zu dir hinausgehen.(dhs) 1Sa 11:3 Then the elders of Jabesh said to him, "Hold off for seven days, that we may send messengers to all the territory of Israel. And then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:4 ============ 1Sa 11:4 Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and spoke these words in the hearing of the people, and all the people lifted up their voices and wept.(nasb) 1Sa 11:4 καὶ ἔρχονται οἱ ἄγγελοι εἰς Γαβαα πρὸς Σαουλ καὶ λαλοῦσιν τοὺς λόγους εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ἦραν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς τὴν φωνὴν αὐτῶν καὶ ἔκλαυσαν (lxx) 1Sa 11:4 Venerunt ergo nuntii in Gabaa Saulis: et locuti sunt verba hæc, audiente populo: et levavit omnis populus vocem suam, et flevit.~(vulgate) 1Sa 11:4 Da kamen die Boten gen Gibea Sauls und redeten solches vor den Ohren des Volks. Da hob alles Volk seine Stimme auf und weinte.(dhs) 1Sa 11:4 So the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and told the news in the hearing of the people. And all the people lifted up their voices and wept.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:5 ============ 1Sa 11:5 Now behold, Saul was coming from the field behind the oxen, and he said, "What is the matter with the people that they weep?" So they related to him the words of the men of Jabesh.(nasb) 1Sa 11:5 καὶ ἰδοὺ Σαουλ ἤρχετο μετὰ τὸ πρωὶ ἐξ ἀγροῦ καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ τί ὅτι κλαίει ὁ λαός καὶ διηγοῦνται αὐτῷ τὰ ῥήματα τῶν υἱῶν Ιαβις (lxx) 1Sa 11:5 Et ecce Saul veniebat, sequens boves de agro, et ait: Quid habet populus quod plorat? Et narraverunt ei verba virorum Jabes.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:5 Und siehe, da kam Saul vom Felde hinter den Rindern her und sprach: Was ist dem Volk, daß es weint? Da erzählten sie ihm die Sache der Männer von Jabes.(dhs) 1Sa 11:5 Now there was Saul, coming behind the herd from the field; and Saul said, "What troubles the people, that they weep?" And they told him the words of the men of Jabesh.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:6 ============ 1Sa 11:6 Then the Spirit of God came upon Saul mightily when he heard these words, and he became very angry.(nasb) 1Sa 11:6 καὶ ἐφήλατο πνεῦμα κυρίου ἐπὶ Σαουλ ὡς ἤκουσεν τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα καὶ ἐθυμώθη ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς ὀργὴ αὐτοῦ σφόδρα (lxx) 1Sa 11:6 Et insilivit spiritus Domini in Saul cum audisset verba hæc, et iratus est furor ejus nimis.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:6 Da geriet der Geist Gottes über ihn, als er solche Worte hörte, und sein Zorn ergrimmte sehr,(dhs) 1Sa 11:6 Then the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard this news, and his anger was greatly aroused.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:7 ============ 1Sa 11:7 He took a yoke of oxen and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout the territory of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, "Whoever does not come out after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen." Then the dread of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out as one man.(nasb) 1Sa 11:7 καὶ ἔλαβεν δύο βόας καὶ ἐμέλισεν αὐτὰς καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς πᾶν ὅριον Ισραηλ ἐν χειρὶ ἀγγέλων λέγων ὃς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκπορευόμενος ὀπίσω Σαουλ καὶ ὀπίσω Σαμουηλ κατὰ τάδε ποιήσουσιν τοῖς βουσὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπῆλθεν ἔκστασις κυρίου ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐβόησαν ὡς ἀνὴρ εἷς (lxx) 1Sa 11:7 Et assumens utrumque bovem, concidit in frustra, misitque in omnes terminos Israël per manum nuntiorum, dicens: Quicumque non exierit, et secutus fuerit Saul et Samuel, sic fiet bobus ejus. Invasit ergo timor Domini populum, et egressi sunt quasi vir unus.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:7 und er nahm ein paar Ochsen und zerstückte sie und sandte in alles Gebiet Israels durch die Boten und ließ sagen: Wer nicht auszieht, Saul und Samuel nach, des Rinder soll man also tun. Da fiel die Furcht des HERRN auf das Volk, daß sie auszogen wie ein Mann.(dhs) 1Sa 11:7 So he took a yoke of oxen and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the territory of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, "Whoever does not go out with Saul and Samuel to battle, so it shall be done to his oxen." And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:8 ============ 1Sa 11:8 He numbered them in Bezek; and the sons of Israel were 300,000, and the men of Judah 30,000.(nasb) 1Sa 11:8 καὶ ἐπισκέπτεται αὐτοὺς Αβιεζεκ ἐν Βαμα πᾶν ἄνδρα Ισραηλ ἑξακοσίας χιλιάδας καὶ ἄνδρας Ιουδα ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδας (lxx) 1Sa 11:8 Et recensuit eos in Bezech: fueruntque filiorum Israël trecenta millia, virorum autem Juda triginta millia.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:8 Und er musterte sie zu Besek; und der Kinder Israel waren dreihundert mal tausend Mann und der Kinder Juda dreißigtausend.(dhs) 1Sa 11:8 When he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:9 ============ 1Sa 11:9 They said to the messengers who had come, "Thus you shall say to the men of Jabesh-gilead, 'Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you will have deliverance.'" So the messengers went and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.(nasb) 1Sa 11:9 καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς ἀγγέλοις τοῖς ἐρχομένοις τάδε ἐρεῖτε τοῖς ἀνδράσιν Ιαβις αὔριον ὑμῖν ἡ σωτηρία διαθερμάναντος τοῦ ἡλίου καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ἄγγελοι εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἀπαγγέλλουσιν τοῖς ἀνδράσιν Ιαβις καὶ εὐφράνθησαν (lxx) 1Sa 11:9 Et dixerunt nuntiis qui venerant: Sic dicetis viris qui sunt in Jabes Galaad: Cras erit vobis salus, cum incaluerit sol. Venerunt ergo nuntii, et annuntiaverunt viris Jabes: qui lætati sunt.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:9 Und sie sagten den Boten, die gekommen waren: Also sagt den Männern zu Jabes in Gilead: Morgen soll euch Hilfe geschehen, wenn die Sonne beginnt heiß zu scheinen. Da die Boten kamen und verkündigten das den Männern zu Jabes, wurden sie froh.(dhs) 1Sa 11:9 And they said to the messengers who came, "Thus you shall say to the men of Jabesh Gilead: 'Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have help.' " Then the messengers came and reported it to the men of Jabesh, and they were glad.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:10 ============ 1Sa 11:10 Then the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you may do to us whatever seems good to you."(nasb) 1Sa 11:10 καὶ εἶπαν οἱ ἄνδρες Ιαβις πρὸς Ναας τὸν Αμμανίτην αὔριον ἐξελευσόμεθα πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ ποιήσετε ἡμῖν τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐνώπιον ὑμῶν (lxx) 1Sa 11:10 Et dixerunt: Mane exibimus ad vos: et facietis nobis omne quod placuerit vobis.~(vulgate) 1Sa 11:10 Und die Männer von Jabes sprachen: Morgen wollen wir zu euch hinausgehen, daß ihr uns tut alles, was euch gefällt.(dhs) 1Sa 11:10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you may do with us whatever seems good to you."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:11 ============ 1Sa 11:11 The next morning Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp at the morning watch and struck down the Ammonites until the heat of the day. Those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.(nasb) 1Sa 11:11 καὶ ἐγενήθη μετὰ τὴν αὔριον καὶ ἔθετο Σαουλ τὸν λαὸν εἰς τρεῖς ἀρχάς καὶ εἰσπορεύονται μέσον τῆς παρεμβολῆς ἐν φυλακῇ τῇ πρωινῇ καὶ ἔτυπτον τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων ἕως διεθερμάνθη ἡ ἡμέρα καὶ ἐγενήθησαν οἱ ὑπολελειμμένοι διεσπάρησαν καὶ οὐχ ὑπελείφθησαν ἐν αὐτοῖς δύο κατὰ τὸ αὐτό (lxx) 1Sa 11:11 Et factum est, cum dies crastinus venisset, constituit Saul populum in tres partes: et ingressus est media castra in vigilia matutina, et percussit Ammon usque dum incalesceret dies: reliqui autem dispersi sunt, ita ut non relinquerentur in eis duo pariter.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:11 Und des andern Morgens stellte Saul das Volk in drei Haufen, und sie kamen ins Lager um die Morgenwache und schlugen die Ammoniter, bis der Tag heiß ward; welche aber übrigblieben, wurden also zerstreut, daß ihrer nicht zwei beieinander blieben.(dhs) 1Sa 11:11 So it was, on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and killed Ammonites until the heat of the day. Date viros, et interficiemus eos.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:12 Da sprach das Volk zu Samuel: Wer sind die, die da sagten: Sollte Saul über uns herrschen? Gebt sie her, die Männer, daß wir sie töten.(dhs) 1Sa 11:12 Then the people said to Samuel, "Who is he who said, 'Shall Saul reign over us?' Bring the men, that we may put them to death."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:13 ============ 1Sa 11:13 But Saul said, "Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the Lord has accomplished deliverance in Israel."(nasb) 1Sa 11:13 καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ οὐκ ἀποθανεῖται οὐδεὶς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ ὅτι σήμερον κύριος ἐποίησεν σωτηρίαν ἐν Ισραηλ (lxx) 1Sa 11:13 Et ait Saul: Non occidetur quisquam in die hac, quia hodie fecit Dominus salutem in Israël.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:13 Saul aber sprach: Es soll auf diesen Tag niemand sterben; denn der HERR hat heute sein Heil gegeben in Israel.(dhs) 1Sa 11:13 But Saul said, "Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the Lord has accomplished salvation in Israel."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:14 ============ 1Sa 11:14 Then Samuel said to the people, "Come and let us go to Gilgal and renew the kingdom there."(nasb) 1Sa 11:14 καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγων πορευθῶμεν εἰς Γαλγαλα καὶ ἐγκαινίσωμεν ἐκεῖ τὴν βασιλείαν (lxx) 1Sa 11:14 Dixit autem Samuel ad populum: Venite, et eamus in Galgala, et innovemus ibi regnum.(vulgate) 1Sa 11:14 Samuel sprach zum Volk: Kommt, laßt uns gen Gilgal gehen und das Königreich daselbst erneuen.(dhs) 1Sa 11:14 Then Samuel said to the people, "Come, let us go to Gilgal and renew the kingdom there."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 11:15 ============ 1Sa 11:15 So all the people went to Gilgal, and there they made Saul king before the Lord in Gilgal. There they also offered sacrifices of peace offerings before the Lord; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.(nasb) 1Sa 11:15 καὶ ἐπορεύθη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς εἰς Γαλγαλα καὶ ἔχρισεν Σαμουηλ ἐκεῖ τὸν Σαουλ εἰς βασιλέα ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἐν Γαλγαλοις καὶ ἔθυσεν ἐκεῖ θυσίας καὶ εἰρηνικὰς ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ εὐφράνθη Σαμουηλ καὶ πᾶς Ισραηλ ὥστε λίαν (lxx) 1Sa 11:15 Et perrexit omnis populus in Galgala, et fecerunt ibi regem Saul coram Domino in Galgala, et immolaverunt ibi victimas pacificas coram Domino.
