There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. So Kish said to his son Saul, "Take now with you one of the servants, and arise, go search for the donkeys."(nasb) 1Sa 9:3 καὶ ἀπώλοντο αἱ ὄνοι Κις πατρὸς Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν Κις πρὸς Σαουλ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ λαβὲ μετὰ σεαυτοῦ ἓν τῶν παιδαρίων καὶ ἀνάστητε καὶ πορεύθητε καὶ ζητήσατε τὰς ὄνους (lxx) 1Sa 9:3 Perierant autem asinæ Cis patris Saul: et dixit Cis ad Saul filium suum: Tolle tecum unum de pueris, et consurgens vade, et quære asinas. And Kish said to his son Saul, "Please, take one of the servants with you, and arise, go and look for the donkeys."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:4 ============ 1Sa 9:4 He passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not find them.(nasb) 1Sa 9:4 καὶ διῆλθον δι᾽ ὄρους Εφραιμ καὶ διῆλθον διὰ τῆς γῆς Σελχα καὶ οὐχ εὗρον καὶ διῆλθον διὰ τῆς γῆς Εασακεμ καὶ οὐκ ἦν καὶ διῆλθον διὰ τῆς γῆς Ιακιμ καὶ οὐχ εὗρον (lxx) 1Sa 9:4 et per terram Salisa, et non invenissent, transierunt etiam per terram Salim, et non erant: sed et per terram Jemini, et minime repererunt.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:4 Und sie gingen durch das Gebirge Ephraim und durch das Land Salisa, und fanden sie nicht; sie gingen durch das Land Saalim, und sie waren nicht da; sie gingen durch das Land Benjamin, und fanden sie nicht.(dhs) 1Sa 9:4 So he passed through the mountains of Ephraim and through the land of Shalisha, but they did not find them. Then he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not find them.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:5 ============ 1Sa 9:5 When they came to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, "Come, and let us return, or else my father will cease to be concerned about the donkeys and will become anxious for us."(nasb) 1Sa 9:5 αὐτῶν ἐλθόντων εἰς τὴν Σιφ καὶ Σαουλ εἶπεν τῷ παιδαρίῳ αὐτοῦ τῷ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ δεῦρο καὶ ἀναστρέψωμεν μὴ ἀνεὶς ὁ πατήρ μου τὰς ὄνους φροντίζῃ περὶ ἡμῶν (lxx) 1Sa 9:5 Cum autem venissent in terram Suph, dixit Saul ad puerum qui erat cum eo: Veni et revertamur, ne forte dimiserit pater meus asinas, et sollicitus sit pro nobis.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:5 Da sie aber kamen in das Land Zuph, sprach Saul zu dem Knecht, der mit ihm war: Komm, laß uns wieder heimgehen; mein Vater möchte von den Eselinnen lassen und um uns sorgen.(dhs) 1Sa 9:5 When they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, "Come, let us return, lest my father cease caring about the donkeys and become worried about us."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:6 ============ 1Sa 9:6 He said to him, "Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and the man is held in honor; all that he says surely comes true. Now let us go there, perhaps he can tell us about our journey on which we have set out."(nasb) 1Sa 9:6 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὸ παιδάριον ἰδοὺ δὴ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἔνδοξος πᾶν ὃ ἐὰν λαλήσῃ παραγινόμενον παρέσται καὶ νῦν πορευθῶμεν ὅπως ἀπαγγείλῃ ἡμῖν τὴν ὁδὸν ἡμῶν ἐφ᾽ ἣν ἐπορεύθημεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτήν (lxx) 1Sa 9:6 Qui ait ei: Ecce vir Dei est in civitate hac, vir nobilis: omne quod loquitur, sine ambiguitate venit. Nunc ergo eamus illuc, si forte indicet nobis de via nostra, propter quam venimus.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:6 Er aber sprach: Siehe, es ist ein berühmter Mann Gottes in dieser Stadt; alles, was er sagt, das geschieht. Nun laß uns dahin gehen; vielleicht sagt er uns unsern Weg, den wir gehen.(dhs) 1Sa 9:6 And he said to him, "Look now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:7 ============ 1Sa 9:7 Then Saul said to his servant, "But behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread is gone from our sack and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?"(nasb) 1Sa 9:7 καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ τῷ παιδαρίῳ αὐτοῦ τῷ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἰδοὺ πορευσόμεθα καὶ τί οἴσομεν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ ὅτι οἱ ἄρτοι ἐκλελοίπασιν ἐκ τῶν ἀγγείων ἡμῶν καὶ πλεῖον οὐκ ἔστιν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν εἰσενεγκεῖν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ τὸ ὑπάρχον ἡμῖν (lxx) 1Sa 9:7 Dixitque Saul ad puerum suum: Ecce ibimus: quid feremus ad virum Dei? panis defecit in sitarciis nostris, et sportulam non habemus ut demus homini Dei, nec quidquam aliud.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:7 Saul aber sprach zu seinem Knechte: Wenn wir schon hingehen, was bringen wir dem Mann? Denn das Brot ist dahin aus unserm Sack; so haben wir sonst keine Gabe, die wir dem Mann Gottes bringen. Was haben wir?(dhs) 1Sa 9:7 Then Saul said to his servant, "But look, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread in our vessels is all gone, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:8 ============ 1Sa 9:8 The servant answered Saul again and said, "Behold, I have in my hand a fourth of a shekel of silver; I will give it to the man of God and he will tell us our way."(nasb) 1Sa 9:8 καὶ προσέθετο τὸ παιδάριον ἀποκριθῆναι τῷ Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ εὕρηται ἐν τῇ χειρί μου τέταρτον σίκλου ἀργυρίου καὶ δώσεις τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἀπαγγελεῖ ἡμῖν τὴν ὁδὸν ἡμῶν (lxx) 1Sa 9:8 Rursum puer respondit Sauli, et ait: Ecce inventa est in manu mea quarta pars stateris argenti: demus homini Dei, ut indicet nobis viam nostram.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:8 Der Knecht antwortete Saul wieder und sprach: Siehe, ich habe ein viertel eines Silberlings bei mir; das wollen wir dem Mann Gottes geben, daß er uns unsern Weg sage.(dhs) 1Sa 9:8 And the servant answered Saul again and said, "Look, I have here at hand one fourth of a shekel of silver. I will give that to the man of God, to tell us our way."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:9 ============ 1Sa 9:9 (Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he used to say, "Come, and let us go to the seer"; for he who is called a prophet now was formerly called a seer.)(nasb) 1Sa 9:9 καὶ ἔμπροσθεν ἐν Ισραηλ τάδε ἔλεγεν ἕκαστος ἐν τῷ πορεύεσθαι ἐπερωτᾶν τὸν θεόν δεῦρο πορευθῶμεν πρὸς τὸν βλέποντα ὅτι τὸν προφήτην ἐκάλει ὁ λαὸς ἔμπροσθεν ὁ βλέπων (lxx) 1Sa 9:9 (Olim in Israël sic loquebatur unusquisque vadens consulere Deum: Venite, et eamus ad videntem. Veni, eamus. Et ierunt in civitatem in qua erat vir Dei.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:10 Saul sprach zu seinem Knecht: Du hast wohl geredet; komm laß uns gehen! Und da sie hingingen zu der Stadt, da der Mann Gottes war,(dhs) 1Sa 9:10 Then Saul said to his servant, "Well said; come, let us go." So they went to the city where the man of God was.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:11 ============ 1Sa 9:11 As they went up the slope to the city, they found young women going out to draw water and said to them, "Is the seer here?"(nasb) 1Sa 9:11 αὐτῶν ἀναβαινόντων τὴν ἀνάβασιν τῆς πόλεως καὶ αὐτοὶ εὑρίσκουσιν τὰ κοράσια ἐξεληλυθότα ὑδρεύσασθαι ὕδωρ καὶ λέγουσιν αὐταῖς εἰ ἔστιν ἐνταῦθα ὁ βλέπων (lxx) 1Sa 9:11 Cumque ascenderent clivum civitatis, invenerunt puellas egredientes ad hauriendam aquam, et dixerunt eis: Num hic est videns?(vulgate) 1Sa 9:11 und zur Stadt hinaufstiegen, fanden sie Dirnen, die herausgingen, Wasser zu schöpfen. Hurry now, for he has come into the city today, for the people have a sacrifice on the high place today.(nasb) 1Sa 9:12 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τὰ κοράσια αὐτοῖς καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτοῖς ἔστιν ἰδοὺ κατὰ πρόσωπον ὑμῶν νῦν διὰ τὴν ἡμέραν ἥκει εἰς τὴν πόλιν ὅτι θυσία σήμερον τῷ λαῷ ἐν Βαμα (lxx) 1Sa 9:12 Quæ respondentes, dixerunt illis: Hic est: ecce ante te, festina nunc: hodie enim venit in civitatem, quia sacrificium est hodie populi in excelso.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:12 Sie antworteten ihnen und sprachen: Ja, siehe, da ist er; eile, denn er ist heute in die Stadt gekommen, weil das Volk heute zu opfern hat auf der Höhe.(dhs) 1Sa 9:12 And they answered them and said, "Yes, there he is, just ahead of you. Hurry now; for today he came to this city, because there is a sacrifice of the people today on the high place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:13 ============ 1Sa 9:13 As soon as you enter the city you will find him before he goes up to the high place to eat, for the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice; afterward those who are invited will eat. Now therefore, go up for you will find him at once."(nasb) 1Sa 9:13 ὡς ἂν εἰσέλθητε τὴν πόλιν οὕτως εὑρήσετε αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ πόλει πρὶν ἀναβῆναι αὐτὸν εἰς Βαμα τοῦ φαγεῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ φάγῃ ὁ λαὸς ἕως τοῦ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτόν ὅτι οὗτος εὐλογεῖ τὴν θυσίαν καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐσθίουσιν οἱ ξένοι καὶ νῦν ἀνάβητε ὅτι διὰ τὴν ἡμέραν εὑρήσετε αὐτόν (lxx) 1Sa 9:13 Ingredientes urbem, statim invenietis eum antequam ascendat excelsum ad vescendum, neque enim comesurus est populus donec ille veniat: quia ipse benedicit hostiæ, et deinceps comedunt qui vocati sunt. As they came into the city, behold, Samuel was coming out toward them to go up to the high place.(nasb) 1Sa 9:14 καὶ ἀναβαίνουσιν τὴν πόλιν αὐτῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς μέσον τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἰδοὺ Σαμουηλ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτῶν τοῦ ἀναβῆναι εἰς Βαμα (lxx) 1Sa 9:14 Et ascenderunt in civitatem. Cumque illi ambularent in medio urbis, apparuit Samuel egrediens obviam eis, ut ascenderet in excelsum.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:14 Und da sie hinauf zur Stadt kamen und in die Stadt eintraten, siehe, da ging Samuel heraus, ihnen entgegen, und wollte auf die Höhe gehen.(dhs) 1Sa 9:14 So they went up to the city. As they were coming into the city, there was Samuel, coming out toward them on his way up to the high place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:15 ============ 1Sa 9:15 Now a day before Saul's coming, the Lord had revealed this to Samuel saying,(nasb) 1Sa 9:15 καὶ κύριος ἀπεκάλυψεν τὸ ὠτίον Σαμουηλ ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ ἐλθεῖν πρὸς αὐτὸν Σαουλ λέγων (lxx) 1Sa 9:15 Dominus autem revelaverat auriculam Samuelis ante unam diem quam veniret Saul, dicens:(vulgate) 1Sa 9:15 Aber der HERR hatte Samuels Ohren offenbart einen Tag zuvor, ehe denn Saul kam, und gesagt:(dhs) 1Sa 9:15 Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying,(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:16 ============ 1Sa 9:16 "About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over My people Israel; and he will deliver My people from the hand of the Philistines. For I have regarded My people, because their cry has come to Me."(nasb) 1Sa 9:16 ὡς ὁ καιρὸς αὔριον ἀποστελῶ πρὸς σὲ ἄνδρα ἐκ γῆς Βενιαμιν καὶ χρίσεις αὐτὸν εἰς ἄρχοντα ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ καὶ σώσει τὸν λαόν μου ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλοφύλων ὅτι ἐπέβλεψα ἐπὶ τὴν ταπείνωσιν τοῦ λαοῦ μου ὅτι ἦλθεν βοὴ αὐτῶν πρός με (lxx) 1Sa 9:16 Hac ipsa hora quæ nunc est, cras mittam virum ad te de terra Benjaminm, et unges eum ducem super populum meum Israël: et salvabit populum meum de manu Philisthinorum, quia respexi populum meum: venit enim clamor eorum ad me.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:16 Morgen um diese Zeit will ich einen Mann zu dir senden aus dem Lande Benjamin; den sollst du zum Fürsten salben über mein Volk Israel, daß er mein Volk erlöse von der Philister Hand. Denn ich habe mein Volk angesehen, und sein Geschrei ist vor mich gekommen.(dhs) 1Sa 9:16 "Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to me."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:17 ============ 1Sa 9:17 When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, "Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! This one shall rule over My people."(nasb) 1Sa 9:17 καὶ Σαμουηλ εἶδεν τὸν Σαουλ καὶ κύριος ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃν εἶπά σοι οὗτος ἄρξει ἐν τῷ λαῷ μου (lxx) 1Sa 9:17 Cumque aspexisset Samuel Saulem, Dominus dixit ei: Ecce vir quem dixeram tibi: iste dominabitur populo meo.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:17 Da nun Samuel Saul ansah, antwortete ihm der HERR: Siehe, das ist der Mann, von dem ich dir gesagt habe, daß er über mein Volk herrsche.(dhs) 1Sa 9:17 And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, "There he is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over My people."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:18 ============ 1Sa 9:18 Then Saul approached Samuel in the gate and said, "Please tell me where the seer's house is."(nasb) 1Sa 9:18 καὶ προσήγαγεν Σαουλ πρὸς Σαμουηλ εἰς μέσον τῆς πόλεως καὶ εἶπεν ἀπάγγειλον δὴ ποῖος ὁ οἶκος τοῦ βλέποντος (lxx) 1Sa 9:18 Accessit autem Saul ad Samuelem in medio portæ, et ait: Indica, oro, mihi, ubi est domus videntis.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:18 Da trat Saul zu Samuel unter dem Tor und sprach: Sage mir, wo ist hier des Sehers Haus?(dhs) 1Sa 9:18 Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, "Please tell me, where is the seer's house?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:19 ============ 1Sa 9:19 Samuel answered Saul and said, "I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you shall eat with me today; and in the morning I will let you go, and will tell you all that is on your mind.(nasb) 1Sa 9:19 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Σαμουηλ τῷ Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν ἐγώ εἰμι αὐτός ἀνάβηθι ἔμπροσθέν μου εἰς Βαμα καὶ φάγε μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ σήμερον καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ σε πρωὶ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου ἀπαγγελῶ σοι (lxx) 1Sa 9:19 Et respondit Samuel Sauli, dicens: Ego sum videns: ascende ante me in excelsum, ut comedatis mecum hodie, et dimittam te mane: et omnia quæ sunt in corde tuo indicabo tibi.(vulgate) 1Sa 9:19 Samuel antwortete Saul wieder und sprach: Ich bin der Seher. Gehe vor mir hinauf auf die Höhe, denn ihr sollt heute mit mir essen; morgen will ich dich lassen gehen, und alles, was in deinem Herzen ist, will ich dir sagen.(dhs) 1Sa 9:19 And Samuel answered Saul and said, "I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you shall eat with me today; and tomorrow I will let you go and will tell you all that is in your heart.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 9:20 ============ 1Sa 9:20 As for your donkeys which were lost three days ago, do not set your mind on them, for they have been found. And for whom is all that is desirable in Israel? Set it before you and eat, because it has been kept for you until the appointed time, since I said I have invited the people." So Saul ate with Samuel that day.(nasb) 1Sa 9:24 καὶ ὕψωσεν ὁ μάγειρος τὴν κωλέαν καὶ παρέθηκεν αὐτὴν ἐνώπιον Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ τῷ Σαουλ ἰδοὺ ὑπόλειμμα παράθες αὐτὸ ἐνώπιόν σου καὶ φάγε ὅτι εἰς μαρτύριον τέθειταί σοι παρὰ τοὺς ἄλλους ἀπόκνιζε καὶ ἔφαγεν Σαουλ μετὰ Σαμουηλ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ (lxx) 1Sa 9:24 Levavit autem cocus armum, et posuit ante Saul.
