Today's Date: ======= Isaiah 8:1 ============ Isa 8:1 Then the Lord said to me, "Take for yourself a large tablet and write on it in ordinary letters: Swift is the booty, speedy is the prey.(nasb) Isa 8:1 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με λαβὲ σεαυτῷ τόμον καινοῦ μεγάλου καὶ γράψον εἰς αὐτὸν γραφίδι ἀνθρώπου τοῦ ὀξέως προνομὴν ποιῆσαι σκύλων πάρεστιν γάρ (lxx) Isa 8:1 Et dixit Dominus ad me: Sume tibi librum grandem, et scribe in eo stylo hominis: Velociter spolia detrahe, cito prædare.(vulgate) Isa 8:1 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Nimm vor dich eine große Tafel und schreib darauf mit Menschengriffel: Raubebald, Eilebeute!(dhs) Isa 8:1 Moreover the Lord said to me, "Take a large scroll, and write on it with a man's pen concerning Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:2 ============ Isa 8:2 And I will take to Myself faithful witnesses for testimony, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah."(nasb) Isa 8:2 καὶ μάρτυράς μοι ποίησον πιστοὺς ἀνθρώπους τὸν Ουριαν καὶ τὸν Ζαχαριαν υἱὸν Βαραχιου (lxx) Isa 8:2 Et adhibui mihi testes fideles, Uriam sacerdotem, et Zachariam, filium Barachiæ:(vulgate) Isa 8:2 Und ich nahm mir zwei treue Zeugen, den Priester Uria und Sacharja, den Sohn des Jeberechjas.(dhs) Isa 8:2 And I will take for Myself faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:3 ============ Isa 8:3 So I approached the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. Then the Lord said to me, "Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz;(nasb) Isa 8:3 καὶ προσῆλθον πρὸς τὴν προφῆτιν καὶ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν καὶ εἶπεν κύριός μοι κάλεσον τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ταχέως σκύλευσον ὀξέως προνόμευσον (lxx) Isa 8:3 et accessi ad prophetissam, et concepit, et peperit filium. Et dixit Dominus ad me: Voca nomen ejus: Accelera spolia detrahere; Festina prædari:(vulgate) Isa 8:3 Und ich ging zu der Prophetin; die ward schwanger und gebar einen Sohn. Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Nenne ihn Raubebald, Eilebeute!(dhs) Isa 8:3 Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me, "Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:4 ============ Isa 8:4 for before the boy knows how to cry out 'My father' or 'My mother, 'the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried away before the king of Assyria."(nasb) Isa 8:4 διότι πρὶν ἢ γνῶναι τὸ παιδίον καλεῖν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα λήμψεται δύναμιν Δαμασκοῦ καὶ τὰ σκῦλα Σαμαρείας ἔναντι βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων (lxx) Isa 8:4 quia antequam sciat puer vocare patrem suum et matrem suam, auferetur fortitudo Damasci, et spolia Samariæ, coram rege Assyriorum.~(vulgate) Isa 8:4 Denn ehe der Knabe rufen kann: "Lieber Vater! liebe Mutter!", soll die Macht aus Damaskus und die Ausbeute Samarias weggenommen werden durch den König von Assyrien.(dhs) Isa 8:4 for before the child shall have knowledge to cry 'My father' and 'My mother,' the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be taken away before the king of Assyria."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:5 ============ Isa 8:5 Again the Lord spoke to me further, saying,(nasb) Isa 8:5 καὶ προσέθετο κύριος λαλῆσαί μοι ἔτι (lxx) Isa 8:5 Et adjecit Dominus loqui ad me adhuc, dicens:(vulgate) Isa 8:5 Und der HERR redete weiter mit mir und sprach:(dhs) Isa 8:5 The Lord also spoke to me again, saying:(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:6 ============ Isa 8:6 "Inasmuch as these people have rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah And rejoice in Rezin and the son of Remaliah;(nasb) Isa 8:6 διὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Σιλωαμ τὸ πορευόμενον ἡσυχῇ ἀλλὰ βούλεσθαι ἔχειν τὸν Ραασσων καὶ τὸν υἱὸν Ρομελιου βασιλέα ἐφ᾽ ὑμῶν (lxx) Isa 8:6 [Pro eo quod abjecit populus iste aquas Siloë, quæ vadunt cum silentio, et assumpsit magis Rasin, et filium Romeliæ:(vulgate) Isa 8:6 Weil dieses Volk verachtet das Wasser zu Siloah, das stille geht, und tröstet sich des Rezin und des Sohnes Remaljas,(dhs) Isa 8:6 "Inasmuch as these people refused The waters of Shiloah that flow softly, And rejoice in Rezin and in Remaliah's son;(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:7 ============ Isa 8:7 "Now therefore, behold, the Lord is about to bring on them the strong and abundant waters of the Euphrates, Even the king of Assyria and all his glory; And it will rise up over all its channels and go over all its banks.(nasb) Isa 8:7 διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἀνάγει κύριος ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ ποταμοῦ τὸ ἰσχυρὸν καὶ τὸ πολύ τὸν βασιλέα τῶν Ἀσσυρίων καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἐπὶ πᾶσαν φάραγγα ὑμῶν καὶ περιπατήσει ἐπὶ πᾶν τεῖχος ὑμῶν (lxx) Isa 8:7 propter hoc ecce Dominus adducet super eos aquas fluminis fortes et multas, regem Assyriorum, et omnem gloriam ejus, et ascendet super omnes rivos ejus, et fluet super universas ripas ejus;(vulgate) Isa 8:7 siehe, so wird der HERR über sie kommen lassen starke und viele Wasser des Stromes, nämlich den König von Assyrien und alle seine Herrlichkeit, daß sie über alle ihre Bäche fahren und über alle Ufer gehen,(dhs) Isa 8:7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them The waters of the River, strong and mighty-- The king of Assyria and all his glory; He will go up over all his channels And go over all his banks.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:8 ============ Isa 8:8 "Then it will sweep on into Judah, it will overflow and pass through, It will reach even to the neck; And the spread of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.(nasb) Isa 8:8 καὶ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ τῆς Ιουδαίας ἄνθρωπον ὃς δυνήσεται κεφαλὴν ἆραι ἢ δυνατὸν συντελέσασθαί τι καὶ ἔσται ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτοῦ ὥστε πληρῶσαι τὸ πλάτος τῆς χώρας σου μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν ὁ θεός (lxx) Isa 8:8 et ibit per Judam, inundans, et transiens: usque ad collum veniet. Et erit extensio alarum ejus implens latitudinem terræ tuæ, o Emmanuel!(vulgate) Isa 8:8 und werden einreißen in Juda und schwemmen und überher laufen, bis daß sie an den Hals reichen, und werden ihre Flügel ausbreiten, daß sie dein Land, o Immanuel, füllen, soweit es ist.(dhs) Isa 8:8 He will pass through Judah, He will overflow and pass over, He will reach up to the neck; And the stretching out of his wings Will fill the breadth of Your land, O Immanuel.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:9 ============ Isa 8:9 "Be broken, O peoples, and be shattered; And give ear, all remote places of the earth. Gird yourselves, yet be shattered; Gird yourselves, yet be shattered.(nasb) Isa 8:9 γνῶτε ἔθνη καὶ ἡττᾶσθε ἐπακούσατε ἕως ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς ἰσχυκότες ἡττᾶσθε ἐὰν γὰρ πάλιν ἰσχύσητε πάλιν ἡττηθήσεσθε (lxx) Isa 8:9 Congregamini, populi, et vincimini; et audite, universæ procul terræ: confortamini, et vincimini; accingite vos, et vincimini.(vulgate) Isa 8:9 Seid böse, ihr Völker, und gebt doch die Flucht! Höret's alle, die ihr in fernen Landen seid! Rüstet euch, und gebt doch die Flucht; rüstet euch und gebt doch die Flucht!(dhs) Isa 8:9 "Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Give ear, all you from far countries. Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces; Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:10 ============ Isa 8:10 "Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted; State a proposal, but it will not stand, For God is with us."(nasb) Isa 8:10 καὶ ἣν ἂν βουλεύσησθε βουλήν διασκεδάσει κύριος καὶ λόγον ὃν ἐὰν λαλήσητε οὐ μὴ ἐμμείνῃ ὑμῖν ὅτι μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν κύριος ὁ θεός (lxx) Isa 8:10 Inite consilium, et dissipabitur; loquimini verbum, et non fiet: quia nobiscum Deus.(vulgate) Isa 8:10 Beschließt einen Rat, und es werde nichts daraus; beredet euch, und es bestehe nicht; denn hier ist Immanuel.(dhs) Isa 8:10 Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:11 ============ Isa 8:11 For thus the Lord spoke to me with mighty power and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,(nasb) Isa 8:11 οὕτως λέγει κύριος τῇ ἰσχυρᾷ χειρὶ ἀπειθοῦσιν τῇ πορείᾳ τῆς ὁδοῦ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου λέγοντες (lxx) Isa 8:11 Hæc enim ait Dominus ad me: Sicut in manu forti erudivit me, ne irem in via populi hujus, dicens:(vulgate) Isa 8:11 Denn so sprach der HERR zu mir, da seine Hand über mich kam und unterwies mich, daß ich nicht sollte wandeln auf dem Wege dieses Volkes, und sprach:(dhs) Isa 8:11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:12 ============ Isa 8:12 "You are not to say, 'It is a conspiracy!'In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it.(nasb) Isa 8:12 μήποτε εἴπητε σκληρόν πᾶν γάρ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ λαὸς οὗτος σκληρόν ἐστιν τὸν δὲ φόβον αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ φοβηθῆτε οὐδὲ μὴ ταραχθῆτε (lxx) Isa 8:12 Non dicatis: Conjuratio; omnia enim quæ loquitur populus iste, conjuratio est: et timorem ejus ne timeatis, neque paveatis.(vulgate) Isa 8:12 Ihr sollt nicht sagen: Bund. Dies Volk redet von nichts denn vom Bund. Fürchtet ihr euch nicht also, wie sie tun, und lasset euch nicht grauen;(dhs) Isa 8:12 "Do not say, 'A conspiracy,' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:13 ============ Isa 8:13 "It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread.(nasb) Isa 8:13 κύριον αὐτὸν ἁγιάσατε καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται σου φόβος (lxx) Isa 8:13 Dominum exercituum ipsum sanctificate; ipse pavor vester, et ipse terror vester:(vulgate) Isa 8:13 sondern heiliget den HERRN Zebaoth. Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?(nasb) Isa 8:19 καὶ ἐὰν εἴπωσιν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ζητήσατε τοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς φωνοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἐγγαστριμύθους τοὺς κενολογοῦντας οἳ ἐκ τῆς κοιλίας φωνοῦσιν οὐκ ἔθνος πρὸς θεὸν αὐτοῦ τί ἐκζητοῦσιν περὶ τῶν ζώντων τοὺς νεκρούς (lxx) Isa 8:19 et cum dixerint ad vos: Quærite a pythonibus et a divinis qui strident in incantationibus suis: numquid non populus a Deo suo requiret, pro vivis a mortuis?(vulgate) Isa 8:19 Wenn sie aber zu euch sagen: Ihr müßt die Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter fragen, die da flüstern und murmeln so sprecht: Soll nicht ein Volk seinen Gott fragen, oder soll man die Toten für die Lebendigen fragen?(dhs) Isa 8:19 And when they say to you, "Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter," should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:20 ============ Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.(nasb) Isa 8:20 νόμον γὰρ εἰς βοήθειαν ἔδωκεν ἵνα εἴπωσιν οὐχ ὡς τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο περὶ οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν δῶρα δοῦναι περὶ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Isa 8:20 ad legem magis et ad testimonium. Quod si non dixerint juxta verbum hoc, non erit eis matutina lux.(vulgate) Isa 8:20 Ja, nach dem Gesetz und Zeugnis! Werden sie das nicht sagen, so werden sie die Morgenröte nicht haben,(dhs) Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:21 ============ Isa 8:21 They will pass through the land hard-pressed and famished, and it will turn out that when they are hungry, they will be enraged and curse their king and their God as they face upward.(nasb) Isa 8:21 καὶ ἥξει ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς σκληρὰ λιμός καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν πεινάσητε λυπηθήσεσθε καὶ κακῶς ἐρεῖτε τὸν ἄρχοντα καὶ τὰ παταχρα καὶ ἀναβλέψονται εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἄνω (lxx) Isa 8:21 Et transibit per eam, corruet, et esuriet; et cum esurierit, irascetur. Et maledicet regi suo, et Deo suo, et suscipiet sursum,(vulgate) Isa 8:21 sondern werden im Lande umhergehen, hart geschlagen und hungrig. Wenn sie aber Hunger leiden, werden sie zürnen und fluchen ihrem König und ihrem Gott(dhs) Isa 8:21 They will pass through it hard pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:22 ============ Isa 8:22 Then they will look to the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness.(nasb) Isa 8:22 καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν κάτω ἐμβλέψονται καὶ ἰδοὺ θλῖψις καὶ στενοχωρία καὶ σκότος ἀπορία στενὴ καὶ σκότος ὥστε μὴ βλέπειν (lxx) Isa 8:22 et ad terram intuebitur; et ecce tribulatio et tenebræ, dissolutio et angustia, et caligo persequens, et non poterit avolare de angustia sua.](vulgate) Isa 8:22 und werden über sich gaffen und unter sich die Erde ansehen und nichts finden als Trübsal und Finsternis; denn sie sind im Dunkel der Angst und gehen irre im Finstern.(dhs) Isa 8:22 Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 9:1 ============ top of the page
