Today's Date: ======= John 16:1 ============ Jn 16:1 "These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.(nasb) Jn 16:1 ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα μὴ σκανδαλισθῆτε.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:1 Hæc locutus sum vobis, ut non scandalizemini.(vulgate) Jn 16:1 Solches habe ich zu euch geredet, daß ihr euch nicht ärgert.(dhs) Jn 16:1 "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.(nkjv) ======= John 16:2 ============ Jn 16:2 They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.(nasb) Jn 16:2 ἀποσυναγώγους ποιήσουσιν ὑμᾶς· ἀλλ᾽ ἔρχεται ὥρα ἵνα πᾶς ὁ ἀποκτείνας ὑμᾶς δόξῃ λατρείαν προσφέρειν τῶ θεῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:2 Absque synagogis facient vos: sed venit hora, ut omnis qui interficit vos arbitretur obsequium se præstare Deo.(vulgate) Jn 16:2 Sie werden euch in den Bann tun. Es kommt aber die Zeit, daß wer euch tötet, wird meinen, er tue Gott einen Dienst daran.(dhs) Jn 16:2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.(nkjv) ======= John 16:3 ============ Jn 16:3 These things they will do because they have not known the Father or Me.(nasb) Jn 16:3 καὶ ταῦτα ποιήσουσιν ὅτι οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὸν πατέρα οὐδὲ ἐμέ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:3 Et hæc facient vobis, quia non noverunt Patrem, neque me.(vulgate) Jn 16:3 Und solches werden sie euch darum tun, daß sie weder meinen Vater noch mich erkennen.(dhs) Jn 16:3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.(nkjv) ======= John 16:4 ============ Jn 16:4 But these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.(nasb) Jn 16:4 ἀλλὰ ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἡ ὥρα αὐτῶν μνημονεύητε αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐγὼ εἶπον ὑμῖν. ταῦτα δὲ ὑμῖν ἐξ ἀρχῆς οὐκ εἶπον, ὅτι μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν ἤμην.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:4 Sed hæc locutus sum vobis, ut cum venerit hora eorum, reminiscamini quia ego dixi vobis.~(vulgate) Jn 16:4 Aber solches habe ich zu euch geredet, auf das, wenn die Zeit kommen wird, ihr daran gedenket, daß ich's euch gesagt habe. Solches aber habe ich von Anfang nicht gesagt; denn ich war bei euch.(dhs) Jn 16:4 But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.(nkjv) ======= John 16:5 ============ Jn 16:5 "But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'(nasb) Jn 16:5 νῦν δὲ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐρωτᾷ με, ποῦ ὑπάγεις;(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:5 Hæc autem vobis ab initio non dixi, quia vobiscum eram. Et nunc vado ad eum qui misit me; et nemo ex vobis interrogat me: Quo vadis?(vulgate) Jn 16:5 Nun aber gehe ich hin zu dem, der mich gesandt hat; und niemand unter euch fragt mich: Wo gehst du hin?(dhs) Jn 16:5 "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'(nkjv) ======= John 16:6 ============ Jn 16:6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.(nasb) Jn 16:6 ἀλλ᾽ ὅτι ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἡ λύπη πεπλήρωκεν ὑμῶν τὴν καρδίαν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:6 sed quia hæc locutus sum vobis, tristitia implevit cor vestrum.(vulgate) Jn 16:6 Sondern weil ich solches geredet habe, ist euer Herz voll Trauerns geworden.(dhs) Jn 16:6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.(nkjv) ======= John 16:7 ============ Jn 16:7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.(nasb) Jn 16:7 ἀλλ᾽ ἐγὼ τὴν ἀλήθειαν λέγω ὑμῖν, συμφέρει ὑμῖν ἵνα ἐγὼ ἀπέλθω. ἐὰν γὰρ μὴ ἀπέλθω, ὁ παράκλητος οὐκ ἐλεύσεται πρὸς ὑμᾶς· ἐὰν δὲ πορευθῶ, πέμψω αὐτὸν πρὸς ὑμᾶς.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:7 Sed ego veritatem dico vobis: expedit vobis ut ego vadam: si enim non abiero, Paraclitus non veniet ad vos; si autem abiero, mittam eum ad vos.(vulgate) Jn 16:7 Aber ich sage euch die Wahrheit: es ist euch gut, daß ich hingehe. Denn so ich nicht hingehe, so kommt der Tröster nicht zu euch; so ich aber gehe, will ich ihn zu euch senden.(dhs) Jn 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.(nkjv) ======= John 16:8 ============ Jn 16:8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;(nasb) Jn 16:8 καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐκεῖνος ἐλέγξει τὸν κόσμον περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ περὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ περὶ κρίσεως·(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:8 Et cum venerit ille, arguet mundum de peccato, et de justitia, et de judicio.(vulgate) Jn 16:8 Und wenn derselbe kommt, wird er die Welt strafen um die Sünde und um die Gerechtigkeit und um das Gericht:(dhs) Jn 16:8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:(nkjv) ======= John 16:9 ============ Jn 16:9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;(nasb) Jn 16:9 περὶ ἁμαρτίας μέν, ὅτι οὐ πιστεύουσιν εἰς ἐμέ·(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:9 De peccato quidem, quia non crediderunt in me.(vulgate) Jn 16:9 um die Sünde, daß sie nicht glauben an mich;(dhs) Jn 16:9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;(nkjv) ======= John 16:10 ============ Jn 16:10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;(nasb) Jn 16:10 περὶ δικαιοσύνης δέ, ὅτι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὑπάγω καὶ οὐκέτι θεωρεῖτέ με·(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:10 De justitia vero, quia ad Patrem vado, et jam non videbitis me.(vulgate) Jn 16:10 um die Gerechtigkeit aber, daß ich zum Vater gehe und ihr mich hinfort nicht sehet;(dhs) Jn 16:10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;(nkjv) ======= John 16:11 ============ Jn 16:11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.(nasb) Jn 16:11 περὶ δὲ κρίσεως, ὅτι ὁ ἄρχων τοῦ κόσμου τούτου κέκριται.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:11 De judicio autem, quia princeps hujus mundi jam judicatus est.(vulgate) Jn 16:11 um das Gericht, daß der Fürst dieser Welt gerichtet ist.(dhs) Jn 16:11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.(nkjv) ======= John 16:12 ============ Jn 16:12 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.(nasb) Jn 16:12 ἔτι πολλὰ ἔχω ὑμῖν λέγειν, ἀλλ᾽ οὐ δύνασθε βαστάζειν ἄρτι·(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:12 Adhuc multa habeo vobis dicere, sed non potestis portare modo.(vulgate) Jn 16:12 Ich habe euch noch viel zu sagen; aber ihr könnt es jetzt nicht tragen.(dhs) Jn 16:12 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.(nkjv) ======= John 16:13 ============ Jn 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.(nasb) Jn 16:13 ὅταν δὲ ἔλθῃ ἐκεῖνος, τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας, ὁδηγήσει ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ πάσῃ· οὐ γὰρ λαλήσει ἀφ᾽ ἑαυτοῦ, ἀλλ᾽ ὅσα ἀκούσει λαλήσει, καὶ τὰ ἐρχόμενα ἀναγγελεῖ ὑμῖν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:13 Cum autem venerit ille Spiritus veritatis, docebit vos omnem veritatem: non enim loquetur a semetipso, sed quæcumque audiet loquetur, et quæ ventura sunt annuntiabit vobis.(vulgate) Jn 16:13 Wenn aber jener, der Geist der Wahrheit, kommen wird, der wird euch in alle Wahrheit leiten. We do not know what He is saying."(nkjv) ======= John 16:19 ============ Jn 16:19 Jesus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me'?(nasb) Jn 16:19 ἔγνω [ὁ] ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤθελον αὐτὸν ἐρωτᾶν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, περὶ τούτου ζητεῖτε μετ᾽ ἀλλήλων ὅτι εἶπον, μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με;(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:19 Cognovit autem Jesus, quia volebant eum interrogare, et dixit eis: De hoc quæritis inter vos quia dixi: Modicum, et non videbitis me; et iterum modicum, et videbitis me.(vulgate) Jn 16:19 Da merkte Jesus, daß sie ihn fragen wollten, und sprach zu ihnen: Davon fragt ihr untereinander, daß ich gesagt habe: Über ein kleines, so werdet ihr mich nicht sehen; und aber über ein kleines, so werdet ihr mich sehen.(dhs) Jn 16:19 Now Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and He said to them, "Are you inquiring among yourselves about what I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'?(nkjv) ======= John 16:20 ============ Jn 16:20 Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy.(nasb) Jn 16:20 ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι κλαύσετε καὶ θρηνήσετε ὑμεῖς, ὁ δὲ κόσμος χαρήσεται· ὑμεῖς λυπηθήσεσθε, ἀλλ᾽ ἡ λύπη ὑμῶν εἰς χαρὰν γενήσεται.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:20 Amen, amen dico vobis: quia plorabitis, et flebitis vos, mundus autem gaudebit; vos autem contristabimini, sed tristitia vestra vertetur in gaudium.(vulgate) Jn 16:20 Wahrlich, wahrlich ich sage euch: Ihr werdet weinen und heulen, aber die Welt wird sich freuen; ihr werdet traurig sein; doch eure Traurigkeit soll in Freude verkehrt werden.(dhs) Jn 16:20 Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.(nkjv) ======= John 16:21 ============ Jn 16:21 Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.(nasb) Jn 16:21 ἡ γυνὴ ὅταν τίκτῃ λύπην ἔχει, ὅτι ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα αὐτῆς· ὅταν δὲ γεννήσῃ τὸ παιδίον, οὐκέτι μνημονεύει τῆς θλίψεως διὰ τὴν χαρὰν ὅτι ἐγεννήθη ἄνθρωπος εἰς τὸν κόσμον.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:21 Mulier cum parit, tristitiam habet, quia venit hora ejus; cum autem pepererit puerum, jam non meminit pressuræ propter gaudium, quia natus est homo in mundum.(vulgate) Jn 16:21 Ein Weib, wenn sie gebiert, so hat sie Traurigkeit; denn ihre Stunde ist gekommen. Wenn sie aber das Kind geboren hat, denkt sie nicht mehr an die Angst um der Freude willen, daß der Mensch zur Welt geboren ist.(dhs) Jn 16:21 A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.(nkjv) ======= John 16:22 ============ Jn 16:22 Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.(nasb) Jn 16:22 καὶ ὑμεῖς οὗν νῦν μὲν λύπην ἔχετε· πάλιν δὲ ὄψομαι ὑμᾶς, καὶ χαρήσεται ὑμῶν ἡ καρδία, καὶ τὴν χαρὰν ὑμῶν οὐδεὶς αἴρει ἀφ᾽ ὑμῶν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:22 Et vos igitur nunc quidem tristitiam habetis, iterum autem videbo vos, et gaudebit cor vestrum: et gaudium vestrum nemo tollet a vobis.(vulgate) Jn 16:22 Und ihr habt auch nun Traurigkeit; aber ich will euch wiedersehen, und euer Herz soll sich freuen, und eure Freude soll niemand von euch nehmen.(dhs) Jn 16:22 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.(nkjv) ======= John 16:23 ============ Jn 16:23 In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.(nasb) Jn 16:23 καὶ ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἐρωτήσετε οὐδέν. ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἄν τι αἰτήσητε τὸν πατέρα ἐν τῶ ὀνόματί μου δώσει ὑμῖν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:23 Et in illo die me non rogabitis quidquam. Amen, amen dico vobis: si quid petieritis Patrem in nomine meo, dabit vobis.(vulgate) Jn 16:23 Und an dem Tage werdet ihr mich nichts fragen. Wahrlich, wahrlich ich sage euch: So ihr den Vater etwas bitten werdet in meinem Namen, so wird er's euch geben.(dhs) Jn 16:23 And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.(nkjv) ======= John 16:24 ============ Jn 16:24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.(nasb) Jn 16:24 ἕως ἄρτι οὐκ ᾐτήσατε οὐδὲν ἐν τῶ ὀνόματί μου· αἰτεῖτε καὶ λήμψεσθε, ἵνα ἡ χαρὰ ὑμῶν ᾖ πεπληρωμένη.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:24 Usque modo non petistis quidquam in nomine meo: petite, et accipietis, ut gaudium vestrum sit plenum.~(vulgate) Jn 16:24 Bisher habt ihr nichts gebeten in meinem Namen. Bittet, so werdet ihr nehmen, daß eure Freude vollkommen sei.(dhs) Jn 16:24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.(nkjv) ======= John 16:25 ============ Jn 16:25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.(nasb) Jn 16:25 ταῦτα ἐν παροιμίαις λελάληκα ὑμῖν· ἔρχεται ὥρα ὅτε οὐκέτι ἐν παροιμίαις λαλήσω ὑμῖν ἀλλὰ παρρησίᾳ περὶ τοῦ πατρὸς ἀπαγγελῶ ὑμῖν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:25 Hæc in proverbiis locutus sum vobis. Venit hora cum jam non in proverbiis loquar vobis, sed palam de Patre annuntiabo vobis:(vulgate) Jn 16:25 Solches habe ich zu euch durch Sprichwörter geredet. Es kommt aber die Zeit, daß ich nicht mehr durch Sprichwörter mit euch reden werde, sondern euch frei heraus verkündigen von meinem Vater.(dhs) Jn 16:25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.(nkjv) ======= John 16:26 ============ Jn 16:26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;(nasb) Jn 16:26 ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐν τῶ ὀνόματί μου αἰτήσεσθε, καὶ οὐ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐρωτήσω τὸν πατέρα περὶ ὑμῶν·(Nestle-Aland) Jn 16:26 in illo die in nomine meo petetis: et non dico vobis quia ego rogabo Patrem de vobis:(vulgate) Jn 16:26 An dem Tage werdet ihr bitten in meinem Namen.
