Today's Date: ======= Romans 13:1 ============ Rom 13:1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.(nasb) Rom 13:1 πᾶσα ψυχὴ ἐξουσίαις ὑπερεχούσαις ὑποτασσέσθω. οὐ γὰρ ἔστιν ἐξουσία εἰ μὴ ὑπὸ θεοῦ, αἱ δὲ οὗσαι ὑπὸ θεοῦ τεταγμέναι εἰσίν·(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:1 Omnis anima potestatibus sublimioribus subdita sit: non est enim potestas nisi a Deo: quæ autem sunt, a Deo ordinatæ sunt.(vulgate) Rom 13:1 Jedermann sei untertan der Obrigkeit, die Gewalt über ihn hat. Denn es ist keine Obrigkeit ohne von Gott; wo aber Obrigkeit ist, die ist von Gott verordnet.(dhs) Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:2 ============ Rom 13:2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.(nasb) Rom 13:2 ὥστε ὁ ἀντιτασσόμενος τῇ ἐξουσίᾳ τῇ τοῦ θεοῦ διαταγῇ ἀνθέστηκεν, οἱ δὲ ἀνθεστηκότες ἑαυτοῖς κρίμα λήμψονται.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:2 Itaque qui resistit potestati, Dei ordinationi resistit. Qui autem resistunt, ipsi sibi damnationem acquirunt:(vulgate) Rom 13:2 Wer sich nun der Obrigkeit widersetzt, der widerstrebt Gottes Ordnung; die aber widerstreben, werden über sich ein Urteil empfangen.(dhs) Rom 13:2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:3 ============ Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;(nasb) Rom 13:3 οἱ γὰρ ἄρχοντες οὐκ εἰσὶν φόβος τῶ ἀγαθῶ ἔργῳ ἀλλὰ τῶ κακῶ. θέλεις δὲ μὴ φοβεῖσθαι τὴν ἐξουσίαν; τὸ ἀγαθὸν ποίει, καὶ ἕξεις ἔπαινον ἐξ αὐτῆς·(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:3 nam principes non sunt timori boni operis, sed mali. Vis autem non timere potestatem? Bonum fac: et habebis laudem ex illa:(vulgate) Rom 13:3 Denn die Gewaltigen sind nicht den guten Werken, sondern den bösen zu fürchten. Willst du dich aber nicht fürchten vor der Obrigkeit, so tue Gutes, so wirst du Lob von ihr haben.(dhs) Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:4 ============ Rom 13:4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.(nasb) Rom 13:4 θεοῦ γὰρ διάκονός ἐστιν σοὶ εἰς τὸ ἀγαθόν. ἐὰν δὲ τὸ κακὸν ποιῇς, φοβοῦ· οὐ γὰρ εἰκῇ τὴν μάχαιραν φορεῖ· θεοῦ γὰρ διάκονός ἐστιν, ἔκδικος εἰς ὀργὴν τῶ τὸ κακὸν πράσσοντι.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:4 Dei enim minister est tibi in bonum. Si autem malum feceris, time: non enim sine causa gladium portat. Dei enim minister est: vindex in iram ei qui malum agit.(vulgate) Rom 13:4 Denn sie ist Gottes Dienerin dir zu gut. Tust du aber Böses, so fürchte dich; denn sie trägt das Schwert nicht umsonst; sie ist Gottes Dienerin, eine Rächerin zur Strafe über den, der Böses tut.(dhs) Rom 13:4 For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:5 ============ Rom 13:5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake.(nasb) Rom 13:5 διὸ ἀνάγκη ὑποτάσσεσθαι, οὐ μόνον διὰ τὴν ὀργὴν ἀλλὰ καὶ διὰ τὴν συνείδησιν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:5 Ideo necessitate subditi estote non solum propter iram, sed etiam propter conscientiam.(vulgate) Rom 13:5 Darum ist's not, untertan zu sein, nicht allein um der Strafe willen, sondern auch um des Gewissens willen.(dhs) Rom 13:5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:6 ============ Rom 13:6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.(nasb) Rom 13:6 διὰ τοῦτο γὰρ καὶ φόρους τελεῖτε, λειτουργοὶ γὰρ θεοῦ εἰσιν εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο προσκαρτεροῦντες.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:6 Ideo enim et tributa præstatis: ministri enim Dei sunt, in hoc ipsum servientes.(vulgate) Rom 13:6 Derhalben müßt ihr auch Schoß geben; denn sie sind Gottes Diener, die solchen Schutz handhaben.(dhs) Rom 13:6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:7 ============ Rom 13:7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.(nasb) Rom 13:7 ἀπόδοτε πᾶσιν τὰς ὀφειλάς, τῶ τὸν φόρον τὸν φόρον, τῶ τὸ τέλος τὸ τέλος, τῶ τὸν φόβον τὸν φόβον, τῶ τὴν τιμὴν τὴν τιμήν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:7 Reddite ergo omnibus debita: cui tribulatum, tributum: cui vectigal, vectigal: cui timorem, timorem: cui honorem, honorem.~(vulgate) Rom 13:7 So gebet nun jedermann, was ihr schuldig seid: Schoß, dem der Schoß gebührt; Zoll, dem der Zoll gebührt; Furcht, dem die Furcht gebührt; Ehre, dem die Ehre gebührt.(dhs) Rom 13:7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:8 ============ Rom 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.(nasb) Rom 13:8 μηδενὶ μηδὲν ὀφείλετε, εἰ μὴ τὸ ἀλλήλους ἀγαπᾶν· ὁ γὰρ ἀγαπῶν τὸν ἕτερον νόμον πεπλήρωκεν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:8 Nemini quidquam debeatis, nisi ut invicem diligatis: qui enim diligit proximum, legem implevit.(vulgate) Rom 13:8 Seid niemand nichts schuldig, als daß ihr euch untereinander liebt; denn wer den andern liebt, der hat das Gesetz erfüllt.(dhs) Rom 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:9 ============ Rom 13:9 For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."(nasb) Rom 13:9 τὸ γὰρ οὐ μοιχεύσεις, οὐ φονεύσεις, οὐ κλέψεις, οὐκ ἐπιθυμήσεις, καὶ εἴ τις ἑτέρα ἐντολή, ἐν τῶ λόγῳ τούτῳ ἀνακεφαλαιοῦται, [ἐν τῶ] ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:9 Nam: non adultaberis: non occides: non furaberis: non falsum testimonium dices: non concupisces: et si quod est aliud mandatum, in hoc verbo instauratur: diliges proximum tuum sicut teipsum.(vulgate) Rom 13:9 Denn was da gesagt ist: "Du sollst nicht ehebrechen; du sollst nicht töten; du sollst nicht stehlen; du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis geben; dich soll nichts gelüsten", und so ein anderes Gebot mehr ist, das wird in diesen Worten zusammengefaßt: "Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst."(dhs) Rom 13:9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:10 ============ Rom 13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.(nasb) Rom 13:10 ἡ ἀγάπη τῶ πλησίον κακὸν οὐκ ἐργάζεται· πλήρωμα οὗν νόμου ἡ ἀγάπη.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:10 Dilectio proximi malum non operatur. Plenitudo ergo legis est dilectio.~(vulgate) Rom 13:10 Denn Liebe tut dem Nächsten nichts Böses. So ist nun die Liebe des Gesetzes Erfüllung.(dhs) Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:11 ============ Rom 13:11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.(nasb) Rom 13:11 καὶ τοῦτο εἰδότες τὸν καιρόν, ὅτι ὥρα ἤδη ὑμᾶς ἐξ ὕπνου ἐγερθῆναι, νῦν γὰρ ἐγγύτερον ἡμῶν ἡ σωτηρία ἢ ὅτε ἐπιστεύσαμεν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:11 Et hoc scientes tempus: quia hora est jam nos de somno surgere. Nunc enim propior est nostra salus, quam cum credidimus.(vulgate) Rom 13:11 Und weil wir solches wissen, nämlich die Zeit, daß die Stunde da ist, aufzustehen vom Schlaf (sintemal unser Heil jetzt näher ist, denn da wir gläubig wurden;(dhs) Rom 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:12 ============ Rom 13:12 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.(nasb) Rom 13:12 ἡ νὺξ προέκοψεν, ἡ δὲ ἡμέρα ἤγγικεν. ἀποθώμεθα οὗν τὰ ἔργα τοῦ σκότους, ἐνδυσώμεθα [δὲ] τὰ ὅπλα τοῦ φωτός.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:12 Nox præcessit, dies autem appropinquavit. Abjiciamus ergo opera tenebrarum, et induamur arma lucis.(vulgate) Rom 13:12 die Nacht ist vorgerückt, der Tag aber nahe herbeigekommen): so lasset uns ablegen die Werke der Finsternis und anlegen die Waffen des Lichtes.(dhs) Rom 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:13 ============ Rom 13:13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.(nasb) Rom 13:13 ὡς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ εὐσχημόνως περιπατήσωμεν, μὴ κώμοις καὶ μέθαις, μὴ κοίταις καὶ ἀσελγείαις, μὴ ἔριδι καὶ ζήλῳ·(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:13 Sicut in die honeste ambulemus: non in comessationibus, et ebrietatibus, non in cubilibus, et impudicitiis, non in contentione, et æmulatione:(vulgate) Rom 13:13 Lasset uns ehrbar wandeln als am Tage, nicht in Fressen und Saufen, nicht in Kammern und Unzucht, nicht in Hader und Neid;(dhs) Rom 13:13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.(nkjv) ======= Romans 13:14 ============ Rom 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.(nasb) Rom 13:14 ἀλλὰ ἐνδύσασθε τὸν κύριον ἰησοῦν χριστόν, καὶ τῆς σαρκὸς πρόνοιαν μὴ ποιεῖσθε εἰς ἐπιθυμίας.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 13:14 sed induamini Dominum Jesum Christum, et carnis curam ne feceritis in desideriis.(vulgate) Rom 13:14 sondern ziehet an den HERRN Jesus Christus und wartet des Leibes, doch also, daß er nicht geil werde.(dhs) Rom 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.(nkjv) ======= Romans 14:1 ============ top of the page
