Today's Date: ======= Hebrews 5:1 ============ Heb 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;(nasb) Heb 5:1 πᾶς γὰρ ἀρχιερεὺς ἐξ ἀνθρώπων λαμβανόμενος ὑπὲρ ἀνθρώπων καθίσταται τὰ πρὸς τὸν θεόν, ἵνα προσφέρῃ δῶρά τε καὶ θυσίας ὑπὲρ ἁμαρτιῶν,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:1 Omnis namque pontifex ex hominibus assumptus, pro hominibus constituitur in iis quæ sunt ad Deum, ut offerat dona, et sacrificia pro peccatis:(vulgate) Heb 5:1 Denn ein jeglicher Hoherpriester, der aus den Menschen genommen wird, der wird gesetzt für die Menschen gegen Gott, auf daß er opfere Gaben und Opfer für die Sünden;(dhs) Heb 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:2 ============ Heb 5:2 he can deal gently with the ignorant and misguided, since he himself also is beset with weakness;(nasb) Heb 5:2 μετριοπαθεῖν δυνάμενος τοῖς ἀγνοοῦσιν καὶ πλανωμένοις, ἐπεὶ καὶ αὐτὸς περίκειται ἀσθένειαν,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:2 qui condolere possit iis qui ignorant et errant: quoniam et ipse circumdatus est infirmitate:(vulgate) Heb 5:2 der da könnte mitfühlen mit denen, die da unwissend sind und irren, dieweil er auch selbst umgeben ist mit Schwachheit.(dhs) Heb 5:2 He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:3 ============ Heb 5:3 and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins, as for the people, so also for himself.(nasb) Heb 5:3 καὶ δι᾽ αὐτὴν ὀφείλει καθὼς περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ οὕτως καὶ περὶ αὐτοῦ προσφέρειν περὶ ἁμαρτιῶν.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:3 et propterea debet, quemadmodum pro populo, ita etiam et pro semetipso offerre pro peccatis.(vulgate) Heb 5:3 Darum muß er auch, gleichwie für das Volk, also auch für sich selbst opfern für die Sünden.(dhs) Heb 5:3 Because of this he is required as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifices for sins.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:4 ============ Heb 5:4 And no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was.(nasb) Heb 5:4 καὶ οὐχ ἑαυτῶ τις λαμβάνει τὴν τιμήν, ἀλλὰ καλούμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ, καθώσπερ καὶ ἀαρών.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:4 Nec quisquam sumit sibi honorem, sed qui vocatur a Deo, tamquam Aaron.(vulgate) Heb 5:4 Und niemand nimmt sich selbst die Ehre, sondern er wird berufen von Gott gleichwie Aaron.(dhs) Heb 5:4 And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:5 ============ Heb 5:5 So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, "YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU";(nasb) Heb 5:5 οὕτως καὶ ὁ χριστὸς οὐχ ἑαυτὸν ἐδόξασεν γενηθῆναι ἀρχιερέα, ἀλλ᾽ ὁ λαλήσας πρὸς αὐτόν, υἱός μου εἶ σύ, ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σε·(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:5 Sic et Christus non semetipsum clarificavit ut pontifex fieret: sed qui locutus est ad eum: Filius meus es tu, ego hodie genui te.(vulgate) Heb 5:5 Also auch Christus hat sich nicht selbst in die Ehre gesetzt, daß er Hoherpriester würde, sondern der zu ihm gesagt hat: "Du bist mein lieber Sohn, heute habe ich dich gezeuget."(dhs) Heb 5:5 So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: "You are My Son, Today I have begotten You."(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:6 ============ Heb 5:6 just as He says also in another passage, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK."(nasb) Heb 5:6 καθὼς καὶ ἐν ἑτέρῳ λέγει, σὺ ἱερεὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κατὰ τὴν τάξιν μελχισέδεκ.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:6 Quemadmodum et in alio loco dicit: Tu es sacerdos in æternum, secundum ordinem Melchisedech.(vulgate) Heb 5:6 Wie er auch am andern Ort spricht: "Du bist ein Priester in Ewigkeit nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks."(dhs) Heb 5:6 As He also says in another place: "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek";(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:7 ============ Heb 5:7 In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.(nasb) Heb 5:7 ὃς ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τῆς σαρκὸς αὐτοῦ, δεήσεις τε καὶ ἱκετηρίας πρὸς τὸν δυνάμενον σῴζειν αὐτὸν ἐκ θανάτου μετὰ κραυγῆς ἰσχυρᾶς καὶ δακρύων προσενέγκας καὶ εἰσακουσθεὶς ἀπὸ τῆς εὐλαβείας,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:7 Qui in diebus carnis suæ preces, supplicationesque ad eum qui possit illum salvum facere a morte cum clamore valido, et lacrimis offerens, exauditus est pro sua reverentia.(vulgate) Heb 5:7 Und er hat in den Tagen seines Fleisches Gebet und Flehen mit starkem Geschrei und Tränen geopfert zu dem, der ihm von dem Tode konnte aushelfen; und ist auch erhört, darum daß er Gott in Ehren hatte.(dhs) Heb 5:7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:8 ============ Heb 5:8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.(nasb) Heb 5:8 καίπερ ὢν υἱὸς ἔμαθεν ἀφ᾽ ὧν ἔπαθεν τὴν ὑπακοήν·(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:8 Et quidem cum esset Filius Dei, didicit ex iis, quæ passus est, obedientiam:(vulgate) Heb 5:8 Und wiewohl er Gottes Sohn war, hat er doch an dem, was er litt Gehorsam gelernt.(dhs) Heb 5:8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:9 ============ Heb 5:9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,(nasb) Heb 5:9 καὶ τελειωθεὶς ἐγένετο πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπακούουσιν αὐτῶ αἴτιος σωτηρίας αἰωνίου,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:9 et consummatus, factus est omnibus obtemperantibus sibi, causa salutis æternæ,(vulgate) Heb 5:9 Und da er vollendet war, ist er geworden allen, die ihm gehorsam sind, eine Ursache zur ewigen Seligkeit.(dhs) Heb 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:10 ============ Heb 5:10 being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.(nasb) Heb 5:10 προσαγορευθεὶς ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀρχιερεὺς κατὰ τὴν τάξιν μελχισέδεκ.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:10 appellatus a Deo pontifex juxta ordinem Melchisedech.~(vulgate) Heb 5:10 genannt von Gott ein Hoherpriester nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks.(dhs) Heb 5:10 called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek,"(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:11 ============ Heb 5:11 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.(nasb) Heb 5:11 περὶ οὖ πολὺς ἡμῖν ὁ λόγος καὶ δυσερμήνευτος λέγειν, ἐπεὶ νωθροὶ γεγόνατε ταῖς ἀκοαῖς.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:11 De quo nobis grandis sermo, et ininterpretabilis ad dicendum: quoniam imbecilles facti estis ad audiendum.(vulgate) Heb 5:11 Davon hätten wir wohl viel zu reden; aber es ist schwer, weil ihr so unverständig seid.(dhs) Heb 5:11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:12 ============ Heb 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.(nasb) Heb 5:12 καὶ γὰρ ὀφείλοντες εἶναι διδάσκαλοι διὰ τὸν χρόνον, πάλιν χρείαν ἔχετε τοῦ διδάσκειν ὑμᾶς τινὰ τὰ στοιχεῖα τῆς ἀρχῆς τῶν λογίων τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ γεγόνατε χρείαν ἔχοντες γάλακτος, [καὶ] οὐ στερεᾶς τροφῆς.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:12 Etenim cum deberetis magistri esse propter tempus, rursum indigetis ut vos doceamini quæ sint elementa exordii sermonum Dei: et facti estis quibus lacte opus sit, non solido cibo.(vulgate) Heb 5:12 Und die ihr solltet längst Meister sein, bedürft wiederum, daß man euch die ersten Buchstaben der göttlichen Worte lehre und daß man euch Milch gebe und nicht starke Speise.(dhs) Heb 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:13 ============ Heb 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.(nasb) Heb 5:13 πᾶς γὰρ ὁ μετέχων γάλακτος ἄπειρος λόγου δικαιοσύνης, νήπιος γάρ ἐστιν·(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:13 Omnis enim, qui lactis est particeps, expers est sermonis justitiæ: parvulus enim est.(vulgate) Heb 5:13 Denn wem man noch Milch geben muß, der ist unerfahren in dem Wort der Gerechtigkeit; denn er ist ein junges Kind.(dhs) Heb 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 5:14 ============ Heb 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.(nasb) Heb 5:14 τελείων δέ ἐστιν ἡ στερεὰ τροφή, τῶν διὰ τὴν ἕξιν τὰ αἰσθητήρια γεγυμνασμένα ἐχόντων πρὸς διάκρισιν καλοῦ τε καὶ κακοῦ.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 5:14 Perfectorum autem est solidus cibus: eorum, qui pro consuetudine exercitatos habent sensus ad discretionem boni ac mali.(vulgate) Heb 5:14 Den Vollkommenen aber gehört starke Speise, die durch Gewohnheit haben geübte Sinne zu unterscheiden Gutes und Böses.(dhs) Heb 5:14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 6:1 ============ top of the page
