Today's Date: ======= Genesis 34:1 ============ Gen 34:1 Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the daughters of the land.(nasb) Gen 34:1 Egressa est autem Dina filia Liæ ut videret mulieres regionis illius.(vulgate) Génesis 34:1 Y salió Dina la hija de Lea, la cual ésta había dado a luz a Jacob, a ver las hijas del país.(E) Genèse 34:1 Dina, la fille que Léa avait enfantée à Jacob, sortit pour voir les filles du pays.(F) Gen 34:1 Dina aber, Leas Tochter, die sie Jakob geboren hatte, ging heraus, die Töchter des Landes zu sehen.(D) Gen 34:1 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Δινα ἡ θυγάτηρ Λειας ἣν ἔτεκεν τῷ Ιακωβ καταμαθεῖν τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν ἐγχωρίων(lxx) Gen 34:1 Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:2 ============ Gen 34:2 When Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he took her and lay with her by force.(nasb) Gen 34:2 Quam cum vidisset Sichem filius Hemor Hevæi, princeps terræ illius, adamavit eam: et rapuit, et dormivit cum illa, vi opprimens virginem.(vulgate) Génesis 34:2 Y cuando la vio Siquem, hijo de Hamor heveo, príncipe de aquella tierra, la tomó, y se acostó con ella, y la deshonró.(E) Genèse 34:2 Elle fut aperçue de Sichem, fils de Hamor, prince du pays. Il l'enleva, coucha avec elle, et la déshonora.(F) Gen 34:2 Da die sah Sichem, Hemors Sohn, des Heviters, der des Landes Herr war, nahm er sie und lag bei ihr und schwächte sie.(D) Gen 34:2 καὶ εἶδεν αὐτὴν Συχεμ ὁ υἱὸς Εμμωρ ὁ Χορραῖος ὁ ἄρχων τῆς γῆς καὶ λαβὼν αὐτὴν ἐκοιμήθη μετ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτήν(lxx) Gen 34:2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:3 ============ Gen 34:3 He was deeply attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke tenderly to her.(nasb) Gen 34:3 Et conglutinata est anima ejus cum ea, tristemque delinivit blanditiis.(vulgate) Génesis 34:3 Y su alma se apegó a Dina la hija de Lea, y se enamoró de la doncella, y habló al corazón de la doncella.(E) Genèse 34:3 Son coeur s'attacha à Dina, fille de Jacob; il aima la jeune fille, et sut parler à son coeur.(F) Gen 34:3 Und sein Herz hing an ihr, und er hatte die Dirne lieb und redete freundlich mit ihr.(D) Gen 34:3 καὶ προσέσχεν τῇ ψυχῇ Δινας τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ ἠγάπησεν τὴν παρθένον καὶ ἐλάλησεν κατὰ τὴν διάνοιαν τῆς παρθένου αὐτῇ(lxx) Gen 34:3 His soul was strongly attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman and spoke kindly to the young woman.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:4 ============ Gen 34:4 So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, "Get me this young girl for a wife."(nasb) Gen 34:4 Et pergens ad Hemor patrem suum: Accipe, inquit, mihi puellam hanc conjugem.(vulgate) Génesis 34:4 Y habló Siquem a Hamor su padre, diciendo: Tómame por esposa a esta doncella.(E) Genèse 34:4 Et Sichem dit à Hamor, son père: Donne-moi cette jeune fille pour femme.(F) Gen 34:4 Und Sichem sprach zu seinem Vater Hemor: Nimm mir das Mägdlein zum Weibe.(D) Gen 34:4 εἶπεν δὲ Συχεμ πρὸς Εμμωρ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ λέγων λαβέ μοι τὴν παιδίσκην ταύτην εἰς γυναῖκα(lxx) Gen 34:4 So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, "Get me this young woman as a wife."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:5 ============ Gen 34:5 Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; but his sons were with his livestock in the field, so Jacob kept silent until they came in.(nasb) Gen 34:5 Quod cum audisset Jacob absentibus filiis, et in pastu pecorum occupatis, siluit donec redirent.~(vulgate) Génesis 34:5 Y oyó Jacob que Siquem había amancillado a Dina su hija: y estando sus hijos con su ganado en el campo, calló Jacob hasta que ellos viniesen.(E) Genèse 34:5 Jacob apprit qu'il avait déshonoré Dina, sa fille; et, comme ses fils étaient aux champs avec son troupeau, Jacob garda le silence jusqu'à leur retour.(F) Gen 34:5 Und Jakob erfuhr, daß seine Tochter Dina geschändet war; und seine Söhne waren mit dem Vieh auf dem Felde, und Jakob schwieg bis daß sie kamen.(D) Gen 34:5 Ιακωβ δὲ ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἐμίανεν ὁ υἱὸς Εμμωρ Διναν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ ἦσαν μετὰ τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ παρεσιώπησεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν αὐτούς(lxx) Gen 34:5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field; so Jacob held his peace until they came.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:6 ============ Gen 34:6 Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.(nasb) Gen 34:6 Egresso autem Hemor patre Sichem ut loqueretur ad Jacob,(vulgate) Génesis 34:6 Y se dirigió Hamor padre de Siquem a Jacob, para hablar con él.(E) Genèse 34:6 Hamor, père de Sichem, se rendit auprès de Jacob pour lui parler.(F) Gen 34:6 Da ging Hemor, Sichems Vater, heraus zu Jakob, mit ihm zu reden.(D) Gen 34:6 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Εμμωρ ὁ πατὴρ Συχεμ πρὸς Ιακωβ λαλῆσαι αὐτῷ(lxx) Gen 34:6 Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:7 ============ Gen 34:7 Now the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved, and they were very angry because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, for such a thing ought not to be done.(nasb) Gen 34:7 ecce filii ejus veniebant de agro: auditoque quod acciderat, irati sunt valde, eo quod fœdam rem operatus esset in Israël et, violata filia Jacob, rem illicitam perpetrasset.(vulgate) Génesis 34:7 Y los hijos de Jacob vinieron del campo cuando lo supieron; y se entristecieron los varones, y se llenaron de ira, porque hizo vileza en Israel acostándose con la hija de Jacob, lo que no se debía haber hecho.(E) Genèse 34:7 Et les fils de Jacob revenaient des champs, lorsqu'ils apprirent la chose; ces hommes furent irrités et se mirent dans une grande colère, parce que Sichem avait commis une infamie en Israël, en couchant avec la fille de Jacob, ce qui n'aurait pas dû se faire.(F) Gen 34:7 Indes kamen die Söhne Jakobs vom Felde. Und da sie es hörten, verdroß es die Männer, und sie wurden sehr zornig, daß er eine Torheit an Israel begangen und bei Jakobs Tochter gelegen hatte, denn so sollte es nicht sein.(D) Gen 34:7 οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ ἦλθον ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου ὡς δὲ ἤκουσαν κατενύχθησαν οἱ ἄνδρες καὶ λυπηρὸν ἦν αὐτοῖς σφόδρα ὅτι ἄσχημον ἐποίησεν ἐν Ισραηλ κοιμηθεὶς μετὰ τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ οὐχ οὕτως ἔσται(lxx) Gen 34:7 And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, a thing which ought not to be done.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:8 ============ Gen 34:8 But Hamor spoke with them, saying, "The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter; please give her to him in marriage.(nasb) Gen 34:8 Locutus est itaque Hemor ad eos: Sichem filii mei adhæsit anima filiæ vestræ: date eam illi uxorem:(vulgate) Génesis 34:8 Y Hamor habló con ellos, diciendo: El alma de mi hijo Siquem se ha apegado a vuestra hija; os ruego que se la deis por esposa.(E) Genèse 34:8 Hamor leur adressa ainsi la parole: Le coeur de Sichem, mon fils, s'est attaché à votre fille; donnez-la-lui pour femme, je vous prie.(F) Gen 34:8 Da redete Hemor mit ihnen und sprach: Meines Sohnes Sichem Herz sehnt sich nach eurer Tochter; gebt sie ihm doch zum Weibe.(D) Gen 34:8 καὶ ἐλάλησεν Εμμωρ αὐτοῖς λέγων Συχεμ ὁ υἱός μου προείλατο τῇ ψυχῇ τὴν θυγατέρα ὑμῶν δότε οὖν αὐτὴν αὐτῷ γυναῖκα(lxx) Gen 34:8 But Hamor spoke with them, saying, "The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:9 ============ Gen 34:9 Intermarry with us; give your daughters to us and take our daughters for yourselves.(nasb) Gen 34:9 et jungamus vicissim connubia: filias vestras tradite nobis, et filias nostras accipite,(vulgate) Génesis 34:9 Y emparentad con nosotros; dadnos vuestras hijas, y tomad vosotros las nuestras.(E) Genèse 34:9 Alliez-vous avec nous; vous nous donnerez vos filles, et vous prendrez pour vous les nôtres.(F) Gen 34:9 Befreundet euch mit uns; gebt uns eure Töchter und nehmt ihr unsere Töchter(D) Gen 34:9 ἐπιγαμβρεύσασθε ἡμῖν τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν δότε ἡμῖν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν λάβετε τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν(lxx) Gen 34:9 And make marriages with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to yourselves.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:10 ============ Gen 34:10 Thus you shall live with us, and the land shall be open before you; live and trade in it and acquire property in it."(nasb) Gen 34:10 et habitate nobiscum: terra in potestate vestra est: exercete, negotiamini, et possidete eam.(vulgate) Génesis 34:10 Y habitad con nosotros; porque la tierra estará delante de vosotros; morad y negociad en ella, y tomad en ella posesión.(E) Genèse 34:10 Vous habiterez avec nous, et le pays sera à votre disposition; restez, pour y trafiquer et y acquérir des propriétés.(F) Gen 34:10 und wohnt bei uns. Das Land soll euch offen sein; wohnt und werbet und gewinnet darin.(D) Gen 34:10 καὶ ἐν ἡμῖν κατοικεῖτε καὶ ἡ γῆ ἰδοὺ πλατεῖα ἐναντίον ὑμῶν κατοικεῖτε καὶ ἐμπορεύεσθε ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐγκτήσασθε ἐν αὐτῇ(lxx) Gen 34:10 So you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you. Dwell and trade in it, and acquire possessions for yourselves in it."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:11 ============ Gen 34:11 Shechem also said to her father and to her brothers, "If I find favor in your sight, then I will give whatever you say to me.(nasb) Gen 34:11 Sed et Sichem ad patrem et ad fratres ejus ait: Inveniam gratiam coram vobis: et quæcumque statueritis, dabo:(vulgate) Génesis 34:11 Siquem también dijo al padre y a los hermanos de ella: Halle yo gracia en vuestros ojos, y daré lo que me dijereis.(E) Genèse 34:11 Sichem dit au père et aux frères de Dina: Que je trouve grâce à vos yeux, et je donnerai ce que vous me direz.(F) Gen 34:11 Und Sichem sprach zu ihrem Vater und ihren Brüdern: Laßt uns Gnade bei euch finden; was ihr mir sagt, das will ich euch geben.(D) Gen 34:11 εἶπεν δὲ Συχεμ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτῆς καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῆς εὕροιμι χάριν ἐναντίον ὑμῶν καὶ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπητε δώσομεν(lxx) Gen 34:11 Then Shechem said to her father and her brothers, "Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:12 ============ Gen 34:12 Ask me ever so much bridal payment and gift, and I will give according as you say to me; but give me the girl in marriage."(nasb) Gen 34:12 augete dotem, et munera postulate, et libenter tribuam quod petieritis: tantum date mihi puellam hanc uxorem.(vulgate) Génesis 34:12 Aumentad a cargo mío mucha dote y dones, que yo daré cuanto me dijereis, y dadme a la doncella por esposa.(E) Genèse 34:12 Exigez de moi une forte dot et beaucoup de présents, et je donnerai ce que vous me direz; mais accordez-moi pour femme la jeune fille.(F) Gen 34:12 Fordert nur getrost von mir Morgengabe und Geschenk, ich will's geben, wie ihr heischt; gebt mir nur die Dirne zum Weibe.(D) Gen 34:12 πληθύνατε τὴν φερνὴν σφόδρα καὶ δώσω καθότι ἂν εἴπητέ μοι καὶ δώσετέ μοι τὴν παῖδα ταύτην εἰς γυναῖκα(lxx) Gen 34:12 Ask me ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to what you say to me; but give me the young woman as a wife."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:13 ============ Gen 34:13 But Jacob's sons answered Shechem and his father Hamor with deceit, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.(nasb) Gen 34:13 Responderunt filii Jacob Sichem et patri ejus in dolo, sævientes ob stuprum sororis:(vulgate) Génesis 34:13 Y respondieron los hijos de Jacob a Siquem y a Hamor su padre con palabras engañosas, por cuanto él había amancillado a Dina su hermana.(E) Genèse 34:13 Les fils de Jacob répondirent et parlèrent avec ruse à Sichem et à Hamor, son père, parce que Sichem avait déshonoré Dina, leur soeur.(F) Gen 34:13 Da antworteten Jakobs Söhne dem Sichem und seinem Vater Hemor betrüglich, darum daß ihre Schwester Dina geschändet war,(D) Gen 34:13 ἀπεκρίθησαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ τῷ Συχεμ καὶ Εμμωρ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ μετὰ δόλου καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἐμίαναν Διναν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν(lxx) Gen 34:13 But the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, and spoke deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:14 ============ Gen 34:14 They said to them, "We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.(nasb) Gen 34:14 Non possumus facere quod petitis, nec dare sororem nostram homini incircumciso: quod illicitum et nefarium est apud nos.(vulgate) Génesis 34:14 Y les dijeron: No podemos hacer esto de dar nuestra hermana a hombre incircunciso; porque entre nosotros es una afrenta.(E) Genèse 34:14 Ils leur dirent: C'est une chose que nous ne pouvons pas faire, que de donner notre soeur à un homme incirconcis; car ce serait un opprobre pour nous.(F) Gen 34:14 und sprachen zu ihnen: Wir können das nicht tun, daß wir unsere Schwester einem unbeschnittenem Mann geben; denn das wäre uns eine Schande.(D) Gen 34:14 καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς Συμεων καὶ Λευι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Δινας υἱοὶ δὲ Λειας οὐ δυνησόμεθα ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο δοῦναι τὴν ἀδελφὴν ἡμῶν ἀνθρώπῳ ὃς ἔχει ἀκροβυστίαν ἔστιν γὰρ ὄνειδος ἡμῖν(lxx) Gen 34:14 And they said to them, "We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:15 ============ Gen 34:15 Only on this condition will we consent to you: if you will become like us, in that every male of you be circumcised,(nasb) Gen 34:15 Sed in hoc valebimus fœderari, si volueritis esse similes nostri, et circumcidatur in vobis omne masculini sexus;(vulgate) Génesis 34:15 Mas con esta [condición] consentiremos con vosotros: Si habéis de ser como nosotros, que se circuncide todo varón de entre vosotros.(E) Genèse 34:15 Nous ne consentirons à votre désir qu'à la condition que vous deveniez comme nous, et que tout mâle parmi vous soit circoncis.(F) Gen 34:15 Doch dann wollen wir euch zu Willen sein, so ihr uns gleich werdet und alles, was männlich unter euch ist, beschnitten werde;(D) Gen 34:15 ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθησόμεθα ὑμῖν καὶ κατοικήσομεν ἐν ὑμῖν ἐὰν γένησθε ὡς ἡμεῖς καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐν τῷ περιτμηθῆναι ὑμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν(lxx) Gen 34:15 But on this condition we will consent to you: If you will become as we are, if every male of you is circumcised,(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:16 ============ Gen 34:16 then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters for ourselves, and we will live with you and become one people.(nasb) Gen 34:16 tunc dabimus et accipiemus mutuo filias vestras ac nostras: et habitabimus vobiscum, erimusque unus populus.(vulgate) Génesis 34:16 Entonces os daremos nuestras hijas, y nosotros tomaremos las vuestras; y habitaremos con vosotros, y seremos un solo pueblo.(E) Genèse 34:16 Nous vous donnerons alors nos filles, et nous prendrons pour nous les vôtres; nous habiterons avec vous, et nous formerons un seul peuple.(F) Gen 34:16 dann wollen wir unsere Töchter euch geben und eure Töchter uns nehmen und bei euch wohnen und ein Volk sein.(D) Gen 34:16 καὶ δώσομεν τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν ὑμῖν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων ὑμῶν λημψόμεθα ἡμῖν γυναῖκας καὶ οἰκήσομεν παρ᾽ ὑμῖν καὶ ἐσόμεθα ὡς γένος ἕν(lxx) Gen 34:16 then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us; and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:17 ============ Gen 34:17 But if you will not listen to us to be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and go."(nasb) Gen 34:17 Si autem circumcidi nolueritis, tollemus filiam nostram, et recedemus.(vulgate) Génesis 34:17 Pero si no nos prestáis oído para circuncidaros, entonces tomaremos a nuestra hija y nos iremos.(E) Genèse 34:17 Mais si vous ne voulez pas nous écouter et vous faire circoncire, nous prendrons notre fille, et nous nous en irons.(F) Gen 34:17 Wo ihr aber nicht darein willigen wollt, euch zu beschneiden, so wollen wir unsere Tochter nehmen und davonziehen.(D) Gen 34:17 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εἰσακούσητε ἡμῶν τοῦ περιτέμνεσθαι λαβόντες τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν ἀπελευσόμεθα(lxx) Gen 34:17 But if you will not heed us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and be gone."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:18 ============ Gen 34:18 Now their words seemed reasonable to Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son.(nasb) Gen 34:18 Placuit oblatio eorum Hemor, et Sichem filio ejus,(vulgate) Génesis 34:18 Y parecieron bien sus palabras a Hamor y a Siquem, hijo de Hamor.(E) Genèse 34:18 Leurs paroles eurent l'assentiment de Hamor et de Sichem, fils de Hamor.(F) Gen 34:18 Die Rede gefiel Hemor und seinem Sohn wohl.(D) Gen 34:18 καὶ ἤρεσαν οἱ λόγοι ἐναντίον Εμμωρ καὶ ἐναντίον Συχεμ τοῦ υἱοῦ Εμμωρ(lxx) Gen 34:18 And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:19 ============ Gen 34:19 The young man did not delay to do the thing, because he was delighted with Jacob's daughter. Now he was more respected than all the household of his father.(nasb) Gen 34:19 nec distulit adolescens quin statim quod petebatur expleret: amabat enim puellam valde, et ipse erat inclytus in omni domo patris sui.(vulgate) Génesis 34:19 Y no tardó el joven en hacer aquello, porque la hija de Jacob le había agradado; y él era el más honorable de toda la casa de su padre.(E) Genèse 34:19 Le jeune homme ne tarda pas à faire la chose, car il aimait la fille de Jacob. Il était considéré de tous dans la maison de son père.(F) Gen 34:19 Und der Jüngling verzog nicht, solches zu tun; denn er hatte Lust zu der Tochter Jakobs. Und er war herrlich gehalten über alle in seines Vaters Hause.(D) Gen 34:19 καὶ οὐκ ἐχρόνισεν ὁ νεανίσκος τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ἐνέκειτο γὰρ τῇ θυγατρὶ Ιακωβ αὐτὸς δὲ ἦν ἐνδοξότατος πάντων τῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ(lxx) Gen 34:19 So the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob's daughter. He was more honorable than all the household of his father.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:20 ============ Gen 34:20 So Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying,(nasb) Gen 34:20 Ingressique portam urbis, locuti sunt ad populum:(vulgate) Génesis 34:20 Entonces Hamor y Siquem su hijo vinieron a la puerta de su ciudad, y hablaron a los varones de su ciudad, diciendo:(E) Genèse 34:20 Hamor et Sichem, son fils, se rendirent à la porte de leur ville, et ils parlèrent ainsi aux gens de leur ville:(F) Gen 34:20 Da kamen sie nun, Hemor und sein Sohn Sichem, unter der Stadt Tor und redeten mit den Bürgern der Stadt und sprachen:(D) Gen 34:20 ἦλθεν δὲ Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν πύλην τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν λέγοντες(lxx) Gen 34:20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying:(nkjv) ======= Genesis 34:21 ============ Gen 34:21 "These men are friendly with us; therefore let them live in the land and trade in it, for behold, the land is large enough for them.
