So David sent some of his servants to console him concerning his father. But when David's servants came to the land of the Ammonites,(nasb) 2Sa 10:2 Dixitque David: Faciam misericordiam cum Hanon filio Naas, sicut fecit pater ejus mecum misericordiam. Misit ergo David, consolans eum per servos suos super patris interitu. Und sandte hin und ließ ihn trösten durch seine Knechte über seinen Vater. So David sent by the hand of his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the people of Ammon.(nkjv) ======= 2 Samuel 10:3 ============ 2Sa 10:3 the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think that David is honoring your father because he has sent consolers to you? Meinst du nicht, daß er darum hat seine Knechte zu dir gesandt, daß er die Stadt erforsche und erkunde und umkehre?(D) 2Sa 10:3 καὶ εἶπον οἱ ἄρχοντες υἱῶν Αμμων πρὸς Αννων τὸν κύριον αὐτῶν μὴ παρὰ τὸ δοξάζειν Δαυιδ τὸν πατέρα σου ἐνώπιόν σου ὅτι ἀπέστειλέν σοι παρακαλοῦντας ἀλλ᾽ οὐχὶ ὅπως ἐρευνήσωσιν τὴν πόλιν καὶ κατασκοπήσωσιν αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦ κατασκέψασθαι αὐτὴν ἀπέστειλεν Δαυιδ τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ πρὸς σέ(lxx) 2Sa 10:3 And the princes of the people of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think that David really honors your father because he has sent comforters to you? Has David not rather sent his servants to you to search the city, to spy it out, and to overthrow it?"(nkjv) ======= 2 Samuel 10:4 ============ 2Sa 10:4 So Hanun took David's servants and shaved off half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle as far as their hips, and sent them away.(nasb) 2Sa 10:4 Tulit itaque Hanon servos David, rasitque dimidiam partem barbæ eorum et præscidit vestes eorum medias usque ad nates, et dimisit eos.(vulgate) 2 Samuel 10:4 Entonces Hanún tomó a los siervos de David, y les rapó la mitad de la barba, y les cortó las vestiduras por la mitad hasta las nalgas, y los despidió.(E) 2 Samuel 10:4 Alors Hanun saisit les serviteurs de David, leur fit raser la moitié de la barbe, et fit couper leurs habits par le milieu jusqu'au haut des cuisses. And the Syrians of Zoba, Beth Rehob, Ish-Tob, and Maacah were by themselves in the field.(nkjv) ======= 2 Samuel 10:9 ============ 2Sa 10:9 Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him in front and in the rear, he selected from all the choice men of Israel, and arrayed them against the Arameans.(nasb) 2Sa 10:9 Videns igitur Joab quod præparatum esset adversum se prælium et ex adverso et post tergum, elegit ex omnibus electis Israël, et instruxit aciem contra Syrum:(vulgate) 2 Samuel 10:9 Viendo, pues, Joab que había escuadrones delante y detrás de él, entresacó de todos los escogidos de Israel, y se puso en orden de batalla contra los sirios.(E) 2 Samuel 10:9 Joab vit qu'il avait à combattre par devant et par derrière. Then Joab returned from fighting against the sons of Ammon and came to Jerusalem.(nasb) 2Sa 10:14 Filii autem Ammon videntes quia fugissent Syri, fugerunt et ipsi a facie Abisai, et ingressi sunt civitatem: reversusque est Joab a filiis Ammon, et venit Jerusalem.(vulgate) 2 Samuel 10:14 Entonces los hijos de Amón, viendo que los sirios habían huido, huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai, y entraron en la ciudad. Joab s'éloigna des fils d'Ammon et revint à Jérusalem.(F) 2Sa 10:14 Und da die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß die Syrer flohen, flohen sie auch vor Abisai und zogen in die Stadt. Also kehrte Joab um von den Kindern Ammon und kam gen Jerusalem.(D) 2Sa 10:14 καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων εἶδαν ὅτι ἔφυγεν Συρία καὶ ἔφυγαν ἀπὸ προσώπου Αβεσσα καὶ εἰσῆλθαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν Ιωαβ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ παρεγένοντο εἰς Ιερουσαλημ(lxx) 2Sa 10:14 When the people of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fleeing, they also fled before Abishai, and entered the city. So the Arameans feared to help the sons of Ammon anymore.(nasb) 2Sa 10:19 Videntes autem universi reges qui erant in præsidio Adarezer, se victos esse ab Israël, expaverunt, et fugerunt quinquaginta et octo millia coram Israël.
