Today's Date: ======= Romans 7:1 ============ Rom 7:1 Or do you not know, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives?(nasb) Rom 7:1 An ignoratis, fratres (scientibus enim legem loquor), quia lex in homine dominatur quanto tempore vivit?(vulgate) Romanos 7:1 ¿Acaso ignoráis, hermanos (pues hablo a aquellos que conocen la ley), que la ley se enseñorea del hombre entre tanto que éste vive?(E) Romains 7:1 Ignorez-vous, frères, -car je parle à des gens qui connaissent la loi, -que la loi exerce son pouvoir sur l'homme aussi longtemps qu'il vit?(F) Rom 7:1 Wisset ihr nicht, liebe Brüder (denn ich rede mit solchen, die das Gesetz wissen), daß das Gesetz herrscht über den Menschen solange er lebt?(D) Rom 7:1 ἢ ἀγνοεῖτε, ἀδελφοί, γινώσκουσιν γὰρ νόμον λαλῶ, ὅτι ὁ νόμος κυριεύει τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐφ᾽ ὅσον χρόνον ζῇ;(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:1 Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:2 ============ Rom 7:2 For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is living; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband.(nasb) Rom 7:2 Nam quæ sub viro est mulier, vivente viro, alligata est legi: si autem mortuus fuerit vir ejus, soluta est a lege viri.(vulgate) Romanos 7:2 Porque la mujer que tiene marido está ligada por la ley a [su] marido mientras él vive; mas si el marido muere, ella queda libre de la ley del marido.(E) Romains 7:2 Ainsi, une femme mariée est liée par la loi à son mari tant qu'il est vivant; mais si le mari meurt, elle est dégagée de la loi qui la liait à son mari.(F) Rom 7:2 Denn ein Weib, das unter dem Manne ist, ist an ihn gebunden durch das Gesetz, solange der Mann lebt; so aber der Mann stirbt, so ist sie los vom Gesetz, das den Mann betrifft.(D) Rom 7:2 ἡ γὰρ ὕπανδρος γυνὴ τῶ ζῶντι ἀνδρὶ δέδεται νόμῳ· ἐὰν δὲ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἀνήρ, κατήργηται ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου τοῦ ἀνδρός.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:3 ============ Rom 7:3 So then, if while her husband is living she is joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress though she is joined to another man.(nasb) Rom 7:3 Igitur, vivente viro, vocabitur adultera si fuerit cum alio viro: si autem mortuus fuerit vir ejus, liberata est a lege viri, ut non sit adultera si fuerit cum alio viro.(vulgate) Romanos 7:3 Así que, si viviendo [su] marido, se casa con otro hombre, será llamada adúltera; pero si su marido muere, ella queda libre de la ley, y si se casa con otro hombre no será adúltera.(E) Romains 7:3 Si donc, du vivant de son mari, elle devient la femme d'un autre homme, elle sera appelée adultère; mais si le mari meurt, elle est affranchie de la loi, de sorte qu'elle n'est point adultère en devenant la femme d'un autre.(F) Rom 7:3 Wo sie nun eines andern Mannes wird, solange der Mann lebt, wird sie eine Ehebrecherin geheißen; so aber der Mann stirbt, ist sie frei vom Gesetz, daß sie nicht eine Ehebrecherin ist, wo sie eines andern Mannes wird.(D) Rom 7:3 ἄρα οὗν ζῶντος τοῦ ἀνδρὸς μοιχαλὶς χρηματίσει ἐὰν γένηται ἀνδρὶ ἑτέρῳ· ἐὰν δὲ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἀνήρ, ἐλευθέρα ἐστὶν ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου, τοῦ μὴ εἶναι αὐτὴν μοιχαλίδα γενομένην ἀνδρὶ ἑτέρῳ.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:4 ============ Rom 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.(nasb) Rom 7:4 Itaque fratres mei, et vos mortificati estis legi per corpus Christi: ut sitis alterius, qui ex mortuis resurrexit, ut fructificemus Deo.(vulgate) Romanos 7:4 Así también vosotros mis hermanos, habéis muerto a la ley por el cuerpo de Cristo; para que seáis de otro, de Aquél que resucitó de entre los muertos, a fin de que llevemos fruto para Dios.(E) Romains 7:4 De même, mes frères, vous aussi vous avez été, par le corps de Christ, mis à mort en ce qui concerne la loi, pour que vous apparteniez à un autre, à celui qui est ressuscité des morts, afin que nous portions des fruits pour Dieu.(F) Rom 7:4 Also seid auch ihr, meine Brüder, getötet dem Gesetz durch den Leib Christi, daß ihr eines andern seid, nämlich des, der von den Toten auferweckt ist, auf daß wir Gott Frucht bringen.(D) Rom 7:4 ὥστε, ἀδελφοί μου, καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐθανατώθητε τῶ νόμῳ διὰ τοῦ σώματος τοῦ χριστοῦ, εἰς τὸ γενέσθαι ὑμᾶς ἑτέρῳ, τῶ ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγερθέντι, ἵνα καρποφορήσωμεν τῶ θεῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another--to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:5 ============ Rom 7:5 For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.(nasb) Rom 7:5 Cum enim essemus in carne, passiones peccatorum, quæ per legem erant, operabantur in membris nostris, ut fructificarent morti.(vulgate) Romanos 7:5 Porque cuando estábamos en la carne, la influencia del pecado, que era por la ley, obraba en nuestros miembros llevando fruto para muerte;(E) Romains 7:5 Car, lorsque nous étions dans la chair, les passions des péchés provoquées par la loi agissaient dans nos membres, de sorte que nous portions des fruits pour la mort.(F) Rom 7:5 Denn da wir im Fleisch waren, da waren die sündigen Lüste, welche durchs Gesetz sich erregten, kräftig in unsern Gliedern, dem Tode Frucht zu bringen.(D) Rom 7:5 ὅτε γὰρ ἦμεν ἐν τῇ σαρκί, τὰ παθήματα τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν τὰ διὰ τοῦ νόμου ἐνηργεῖτο ἐν τοῖς μέλεσιν ἡμῶν εἰς τὸ καρποφορῆσαι τῶ θανάτῳ·(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:6 ============ Rom 7:6 But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.(nasb) Rom 7:6 Nunc autem soluti sumus a lege mortis, in qua detinebamur, ita ut serviamus in novitate spiritus, et non in vetustate litteræ.~(vulgate) Romanos 7:6 pero ahora somos libres de la ley, habiendo muerto a lo que nos tenía sujetos, para que sirvamos en novedad de espíritu, y no [en] lo antiguo de la letra.(E) Romains 7:6 Mais maintenant, nous avons été dégagés de la loi, étant morts à cette loi sous laquelle nous étions retenus, de sorte que nous servons dans un esprit nouveau, et non selon la lettre qui a vieilli.(F) Rom 7:6 Nun aber sind wir vom Gesetz los und ihm abgestorben, das uns gefangenhielt, also daß wir dienen sollen im neuen Wesen des Geistes und nicht im alten Wesen des Buchstabens.(D) Rom 7:6 νυνὶ δὲ κατηργήθημεν ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου, ἀποθανόντες ἐν ᾧ κατειχόμεθα, ὥστε δουλεύειν ἡμᾶς ἐν καινότητι πνεύματος καὶ οὐ παλαιότητι γράμματος.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:7 ============ Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "YOU SHALL NOT COVET."(nasb) Rom 7:7 Quid ergo dicemus? lex peccatum est? Absit. Sed peccatum non cognovi, nisi per legem: nam concupiscentiam nesciebam, nisi lex diceret: Non concupisces.(vulgate) Romanos 7:7 ¿Qué diremos entonces? ¿[Es] pecado la ley? ¡En ninguna manera! Al contrario, yo no hubiera conocido el pecado a no ser por la ley: Porque no conociera la codicia si la ley no dijera: No codiciarás.(E) Romains 7:7 Que dirons-nous donc? La loi est-elle péché? Loin de là! Mais je n'ai connu le péché que par la loi. Car je n'aurais pas connu la convoitise, si la loi n'eût dit: Tu ne convoiteras point.(F) Rom 7:7 Was wollen wir denn nun sagen? Ist das Gesetz Sünde? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde erkannte ich nicht, außer durchs Gesetz. Denn ich wußte nichts von der Lust, wo das Gesetz nicht hätte gesagt: "Laß dich nicht gelüsten!"(D) Rom 7:7 τί οὗν ἐροῦμεν; ὁ νόμος ἁμαρτία; μὴ γένοιτο· ἀλλὰ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν οὐκ ἔγνων εἰ μὴ διὰ νόμου, τήν τε γὰρ ἐπιθυμίαν οὐκ ᾔδειν εἰ μὴ ὁ νόμος ἔλεγεν, οὐκ ἐπιθυμήσεις.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:8 ============ Rom 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.(nasb) Rom 7:8 Occasione autem accepta, peccatum per mandatum operatum est in me omnem concupiscentiam. Sine lege enim peccatum mortuum erat.(vulgate) Romanos 7:8 Pero el pecado, tomando ocasión por el mandamiento, produjo en mí toda codicia. Porque sin la ley el pecado [estaba] muerto.(E) Romains 7:8 Et le péché, saisissant l'occasion, produisit en moi par le commandement toutes sortes de convoitises; car sans loi le péché est mort.(F) Rom 7:8 Da nahm aber die Sünde Ursache am Gebot und erregte in mir allerlei Lust; denn ohne das Gesetz war die Sünde tot.(D) Rom 7:8 ἀφορμὴν δὲ λαβοῦσα ἡ ἁμαρτία διὰ τῆς ἐντολῆς κατειργάσατο ἐν ἐμοὶ πᾶσαν ἐπιθυμίαν· χωρὶς γὰρ νόμου ἁμαρτία νεκρά.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:9 ============ Rom 7:9 I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died;(nasb) Rom 7:9 Ego autem vivebam sine lege aliquando: sed cum venisset mandatum, peccatum revixit.(vulgate) Romanos 7:9 Y antes yo vivía sin ley, pero cuando vino el mandamiento, el pecado revivió y yo morí.(E) Romains 7:9 Pour moi, étant autrefois sans loi, je vivais; mais quand le commandement vint, le péché reprit vie, et moi je mourus.(F) Rom 7:9 Ich aber lebte weiland ohne Gesetz; da aber das Gebot kam, ward die Sünde wieder lebendig,(D) Rom 7:9 ἐγὼ δὲ ἔζων χωρὶς νόμου ποτέ· ἐλθούσης δὲ τῆς ἐντολῆς ἡ ἁμαρτία ἀνέζησεν,(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:9 I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:10 ============ Rom 7:10 and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me;(nasb) Rom 7:10 Ego autem mortuus sum: et inventum est mihi mandatum, quod erat ad vitam, hoc esse ad mortem.(vulgate) Romanos 7:10 Y el mandamiento que [era] para vida, yo encontré [que era] para muerte.(E) Romains 7:10 Ainsi, le commandement qui conduit à la vie se trouva pour moi conduire à la mort.(F) Rom 7:10 ich aber starb; und es fand sich, daß das Gebot mir zum Tode gereichte, das mir doch zum Leben gegeben war.(D) Rom 7:10 ἐγὼ δὲ ἀπέθανον, καὶ εὑρέθη μοι ἡ ἐντολὴ ἡ εἰς ζωὴν αὕτη εἰς θάνατον·(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:11 ============ Rom 7:11 for sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me.(nasb) Rom 7:11 Nam peccatum occasione accepta per mandatum, seduxit me, et per illud occidit.(vulgate) Romanos 7:11 Porque el pecado, tomando ocasión por el mandamiento, me engañó, y por él [me] mató.(E) Romains 7:11 Car le péché saisissant l'occasion, me séduisit par le commandement, et par lui me fit mourir.(F) Rom 7:11 Denn die Sünde nahm Ursache am Gebot und betrog mich und tötete mich durch dasselbe Gebot.(D) Rom 7:11 ἡ γὰρ ἁμαρτία ἀφορμὴν λαβοῦσα διὰ τῆς ἐντολῆς ἐξηπάτησέν με καὶ δι᾽ αὐτῆς ἀπέκτεινεν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:12 ============ Rom 7:12 So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.(nasb) Rom 7:12 Itaque lex quidem sancta, et mandatum sanctum, et justum, et bonum.~(vulgate) Romanos 7:12 De manera que la ley a la verdad [es] santa, y el mandamiento [es] santo, y justo, y bueno.(E) Romains 7:12 La loi donc est sainte, et le commandement est saint, juste et bon.(F) Rom 7:12 Das Gesetz ist ja heilig, und das Gebot ist heilig, recht und gut.(D) Rom 7:12 ὥστε ὁ μὲν νόμος ἅγιος, καὶ ἡ ἐντολὴ ἁγία καὶ δικαία καὶ ἀγαθή.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:13 ============ Rom 7:13 Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.(nasb) Rom 7:13 Quod ergo bonum est, mihi factum est mors? Absit. Sed peccatum, ut appareat peccatum, per bonum operatum est mihi mortem: ut fiat supra modum peccans peccatum per mandatum.(vulgate) Romanos 7:13 ¿Entonces lo que es bueno, vino a ser muerte para mí? ¡En ninguna manera! Pero el pecado, para mostrarse pecado, obró muerte en mí por lo que es bueno, a fin de que por el mandamiento, el pecado llegase a ser sobremanera pecaminoso.(E) Romains 7:13 Ce qui est bon a-t-il donc été pour moi une cause de mort? Loin de là! Mais c'est le péché, afin qu'il se manifestât comme péché en me donnant la mort par ce qui est bon, et que, par le commandement, il devînt condamnable au plus haut point.(F) Rom 7:13 Ist denn, das da gut ist, mir zum Tod geworden? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde, auf daß sie erscheine, wie sie Sünde ist, hat sie mir durch das Gute den Tod gewirkt, auf daß die Sünde würde überaus sündig durchs Gebot.(D) Rom 7:13 τὸ οὗν ἀγαθὸν ἐμοὶ ἐγένετο θάνατος; μὴ γένοιτο· ἀλλὰ ἡ ἁμαρτία, ἵνα φανῇ ἁμαρτία, διὰ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ μοι κατεργαζομένη θάνατον· ἵνα γένηται καθ᾽ ὑπερβολὴν ἁμαρτωλὸς ἡ ἁμαρτία διὰ τῆς ἐντολῆς.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:13 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:14 ============ Rom 7:14 For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.(nasb) Rom 7:14 Scimus enim quia lex spiritualis est: ego autem carnalis sum, venundatus sub peccato.(vulgate) Romanos 7:14 Porque sabemos que la ley es espiritual; pero yo soy carnal, vendido bajo pecado.(E) Romains 7:14 Nous savons, en effet, que la loi est spirituelle; mais moi, je suis charnel, vendu au péché.(F) Rom 7:14 Denn wir wissen, daß das Gesetz geistlich ist; ich bin aber fleischlich, unter die Sünde verkauft.(D) Rom 7:14 οἴδαμεν γὰρ ὅτι ὁ νόμος πνευματικός ἐστιν· ἐγὼ δὲ σάρκινός εἰμι, πεπραμένος ὑπὸ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:15 ============ Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.(nasb) Rom 7:15 Quod enim operor, non intelligo: non enim quod volo bonum, hoc ago: sed quod odi malum, illud facio.(vulgate) Romanos 7:15 Pues lo que hago, no lo entiendo, pues no hago lo que quiero; sino lo que aborrezco, eso hago.(E) Romains 7:15 Car je ne sais pas ce que je fais: je ne fais point ce que je veux, et je fais ce que je hais.(F) Rom 7:15 Denn ich weiß nicht, was ich tue. Denn ich tue nicht, was ich will; sondern, was ich hasse, das tue ich.(D) Rom 7:15 ὃ γὰρ κατεργάζομαι οὐ γινώσκω· οὐ γὰρ ὃ θέλω τοῦτο πράσσω, ἀλλ᾽ ὃ μισῶ τοῦτο ποιῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:16 ============ Rom 7:16 But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good.(nasb) Rom 7:16 Si autem quod nolo, illud facio: consentio legi, quoniam bona est.(vulgate) Romanos 7:16 Y si lo que no quiero, eso hago, apruebo que la ley es buena.(E) Romains 7:16 Or, si je fais ce que je ne veux pas, je reconnais par là que la loi est bonne.(F) Rom 7:16 So ich aber das tue, was ich nicht will, so gebe ich zu, daß das Gesetz gut sei.(D) Rom 7:16 εἰ δὲ ὃ οὐ θέλω τοῦτο ποιῶ, σύμφημι τῶ νόμῳ ὅτι καλός.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:17 ============ Rom 7:17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.(nasb) Rom 7:17 Nunc autem jam non ego operor illud, sed quod habitat in me peccatum.(vulgate) Romanos 7:17 De manera que ya no soy yo quien lo hace, sino el pecado que mora en mí.(E) Romains 7:17 Et maintenant ce n'est plus moi qui le fais, mais c'est le péché qui habite en moi.(F) Rom 7:17 So tue ich nun dasselbe nicht, sondern die Sünde, die in mir wohnt.(D) Rom 7:17 νυνὶ δὲ οὐκέτι ἐγὼ κατεργάζομαι αὐτὸ ἀλλὰ ἡ οἰκοῦσα ἐν ἐμοὶ ἁμαρτία.(Nestle-Aland) Rom 7:17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.(nkjv) ======= Romans 7:18 ============ Rom 7:18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.(nasb) Rom 7:18 Scio enim quia non habitat in me, hoc est in carne mea, bonum. Nam velle, adjacet mihi: perficere autem bonum, non invenio.(vulgate) Romanos 7:18 Y yo sé que en mí (esto es en mi carne) no mora el bien; pues el querer está en mí, pero el hacer el bien no.(E) Romains 7:18 Ce qui est bon, je le sais, n'habite pas en moi, c'est-à-dire dans ma chair: j'ai la volonté, mais non le pouvoir de faire le bien.(F) Rom 7:18 Denn ich weiß, daß in mir, das ist in meinem Fleische, wohnt nichts Gutes.
