Joseph aber war zuvor in Ägypten.(dhs) Exo 1:5 All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:6 ============ Exo 1:6 Joseph died, and all his brothers and all that generation.(nas) Exo 1:6 ἐτελεύτησεν δὲ Ιωσηφ καὶ πάντες οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ γενεὰ ἐκείνη (lxx) Exo 1:6 Quo mortuo, et universis fratribus ejus, omnique cognatione illa,(vulgate) 6 ׃1 וַיָּ֤מָת יוֹסֵף֙ וְכָל־אֶחָ֔יו וְכֹ֖ל הַדּ֥וֹר הַהֽוּא׃ Exodus Exo 1:6 Da nun Joseph gestorben war und alle seine Brüder und alle, die zu der Zeit gelebt hatten,(dhs) Exo 1:6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:7 ============ Exo 1:7 But the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly, and multiplied, and became exceedingly mighty, so that the land was filled with them.(nas) Exo 1:7 οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ηὐξήθησαν καὶ ἐπληθύνθησαν καὶ χυδαῖοι ἐγένοντο καὶ κατίσχυον σφόδρα σφόδρα ἐπλήθυνεν δὲ ἡ γῆ αὐτούς (lxx) Exo 1:7 filii Israël creverunt, et quasi germinantes multiplicati sunt: ac roborati nimis, impleverunt terram.~(vulgate) 7 ׃1 וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל פָּר֧וּ וַֽיִּשְׁרְצ֛וּ וַיִּרְבּ֥וּ וַיַּֽעַצְמ֖וּ בִּמְאֹ֣ד מְאֹ֑ד וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א הָאָ֖רֶץ אֹתָֽם׃ פ Exodus Exo 1:7 wuchsen die Kinder Israel und zeugten Kinder und mehrten sich und wurden sehr viel, daß ihrer das Land voll ward.(dhs) Exo 1:7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:8 ============ Exo 1:8 Now a new king arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.(nas) Exo 1:8 ἀνέστη δὲ βασιλεὺς ἕτερος ἐπ᾽ Αἴγυπτον ὃς οὐκ ᾔδει τὸν Ιωσηφ (lxx) Exo 1:8 Surrexit interea rex novus super Ægyptum, qui ignorabat Joseph.(vulgate) 8 ׃1 וַיָּ֥קָם מֶֽלֶךְ־חָדָ֖שׁ עַל־מִצְרָ֑יִם אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יָדַ֖ע אֶת־יוֹסֵֽף׃ Exodus Exo 1:8 Da kam ein neuer König auf in Ägypten, der wußte nichts von Joseph(dhs) Exo 1:8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:9 ============ Exo 1:9 He said to his people, "Behold, the people of the sons of Israel are more and mightier than we.(nas) Exo 1:9 εἶπεν δὲ τῷ ἔθνει αὐτοῦ ἰδοὺ τὸ γένος τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ μέγα πλῆθος καὶ ἰσχύει ὑπὲρ ἡμᾶς (lxx) Exo 1:9 Et ait ad populum suum: Ecce, populus filiorum Israël multus, et fortior nobis est.(vulgate) 9 ׃1 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֶל־עַמּ֑וֹ הִנֵּ֗ה עַ֚ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל רַ֥ב וְעָצ֖וּם מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ Exodus Exo 1:9 und sprach zu seinem Volk: Siehe, des Volks der Kinder Israel ist viel und mehr als wir.(dhs) Exo 1:9 And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we;(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:10 ============ Exo 1:10 Come, let us deal wisely with them, or else they will multiply and in the event of war, they will also join themselves to those who hate us, and fight against us and depart from the land."(nas) Exo 1:10 δεῦτε οὖν κατασοφισώμεθα αὐτούς μήποτε πληθυνθῇ καί ἡνίκα ἂν συμβῇ ἡμῖν πόλεμος προστεθήσονται καὶ οὗτοι πρὸς τοὺς ὑπεναντίους καὶ ἐκπολεμήσαντες ἡμᾶς ἐξελεύσονται ἐκ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Exo 1:10 Venite, sapienter opprimamus eum, ne forte multiplicetur: et si ingruerit contra nos bellum, addatur inimicis nostris, expugnatisque nobis egrediatur de terra.(vulgate) 10 ׃1 הָ֥בָה נִֽתְחַכְּמָ֖ה ל֑וֹ פֶּן־יִרְבֶּ֗ה וְהָיָ֞ה כִּֽי־תִקְרֶ֤אנָה מִלְחָמָה֙ וְנוֹסַ֤ף גַּם־הוּא֙ עַל־שֹׂ֣נְאֵ֔ינוּ וְנִלְחַם־בָּ֖נוּ וְעָלָ֥ה מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ Exodus Exo 1:10 Wohlan, wir wollen sie mit List dämpfen, daß ihrer nicht so viel werden. Denn wo sich ein Krieg erhöbe, möchten sie sich auch zu unsern Feinden schlagen und wider uns streiten und zum Lande ausziehen.(dhs) Exo 1:10 come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:11 ============ Exo 1:11 So they appointed taskmasters over them to afflict them with hard labor. And they built for Pharaoh storage cities, Pithom and Raamses.(nas) Exo 1:11 καὶ ἐπέστησεν αὐτοῖς ἐπιστάτας τῶν ἔργων ἵνα κακώσωσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν πόλεις ὀχυρὰς τῷ Φαραω τήν τε Πιθωμ καὶ Ραμεσση καὶ Ων ἥ ἐστιν Ἡλίου πόλις (lxx) Exo 1:11 Præposuit itaque eis magistros operum, ut affligerent eos oneribus: ædificaveruntque urbes tabernaculorum Pharaoni, Phithom et Ramesses.(vulgate) 11 ׃1 וַיָּשִׂ֤ימוּ עָלָיו֙ שָׂרֵ֣י מִסִּ֔ים לְמַ֥עַן עַנֹּת֖וֹ בְּסִבְלֹתָ֑ם וַיִּ֜בֶן עָרֵ֤י מִסְכְּנוֹת֙ לְפַרְעֹ֔ה אֶת־פִּתֹ֖ם וְאֶת־רַעַמְסֵֽס׃ Exodus Exo 1:11 Und man setzte Fronvögte über sie, die sie mit schweren Diensten drücken sollten; denn man baute dem Pharao die Städte Pithon und Raemses zu Vorratshäusern.(dhs) Exo 1:11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:12 ============ Exo 1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out, so that they were in dread of the sons of Israel.(nas) Exo 1:12 καθότι δὲ αὐτοὺς ἐταπείνουν τοσούτῳ πλείους ἐγίνοντο καὶ ἴσχυον σφόδρα σφόδρα καὶ ἐβδελύσσοντο οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ (lxx) Exo 1:12 Quantoque opprimebant eos, tanto magis multiplicabantur, et crescebant:(vulgate) 12 ׃1 וְכַאֲשֶׁר֙ יְעַנּ֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ כֵּ֥ן יִרְבֶּ֖ה וְכֵ֣ן יִפְרֹ֑ץ וַיָּקֻ֕צוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Exodus Exo 1:12 Aber je mehr sie das Volk drückten, je mehr es sich mehrte und ausbreitete. Und sie hielten die Kinder Israel wie einen Greuel.(dhs) Exo 1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:13 ============ Exo 1:13 The Egyptians compelled the sons of Israel to labor rigorously;(nas) Exo 1:13 καὶ κατεδυνάστευον οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ βίᾳ (lxx) Exo 1:13 oderantque filios Israël Ægyptii, et affligebant illudentes eis,(vulgate) 13 ׃1 וַיַּעֲבִ֧דוּ מִצְרַ֛יִם אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּפָֽרֶךְ׃ Exodus Exo 1:13 Und die Ägypter zwangen die Kinder Israel zum Dienst mit Unbarmherzigkeit(dhs) Exo 1:13 So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:14 ============ Exo 1:14 and they made their lives bitter with hard labor in mortar and bricks and at all kinds of labor in the field, all their labors which they rigorously imposed on them.(nas) Exo 1:14 καὶ κατωδύνων αὐτῶν τὴν ζωὴν ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς σκληροῖς τῷ πηλῷ καὶ τῇ πλινθείᾳ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς ἐν τοῖς πεδίοις κατὰ πάντα τὰ ἔργα ὧν κατεδουλοῦντο αὐτοὺς μετὰ βίας (lxx) Exo 1:14 atque ad amaritudinem perducebant vitam eorum operibus duris luti et lateris, omnique famulatu, quo in terræ operibus premebantur.(vulgate) 14 ׃1 וַיְמָרְר֨וּ אֶת־חַיֵּיהֶ֜ם בַּעֲבֹדָ֣ה קָשָׁ֗ה בְּחֹ֙מֶר֙ וּבִלְבֵנִ֔ים וּבְכָל־עֲבֹדָ֖ה בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה אֵ֚ת כָּל־עֲבֹ֣דָתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־עָבְד֥וּ בָהֶ֖ם בְּפָֽרֶךְ׃ Exodus Exo 1:14 und machten ihnen ihr Leben sauer mit schwerer Arbeit in Ton und Ziegeln und mit allerlei Frönen auf dem Felde und mit allerlei Arbeit, die sie ihnen auflegten mit Unbarmherzigkeit.(dhs) Exo 1:14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage--in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:15 ============ Exo 1:15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other was named Puah;(nas) Exo 1:15 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Αἰγυπτίων ταῖς μαίαις τῶν Εβραίων τῇ μιᾷ αὐτῶν ᾗ ὄνομα Σεπφωρα καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς δευτέρας Φουα (lxx) Exo 1:15 Dixit autem rex Ægypti obstetricibus Hebræorum, quarum una vocabatur Sephora, altera Phua,(vulgate) 15 ׃1 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ מֶ֣לֶך מִצְרַ֔יִם לַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֖ת הָֽעִבְרִיֹּ֑ת אֲשֶׁ֨ר שֵׁ֤ם הָֽאַחַת֙ שִׁפְרָ֔ה וְשֵׁ֥ם הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית פּוּעָֽה׃ Exodus Exo 1:15 Und der König in Ägypten sprach zu den hebräischen Wehmüttern, deren eine hieß Siphra und die andere Pua:(dhs) Exo 1:15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah;(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:16 ============ Exo 1:16 and he said, "When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth and see them upon the birthstool, if it is a son, then you shall put him to death; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live."(nas) Exo 1:16 καὶ εἶπεν ὅταν μαιοῦσθε τὰς Εβραίας καὶ ὦσιν πρὸς τῷ τίκτειν ἐὰν μὲν ἄρσεν ᾖ ἀποκτείνατε αὐτό ἐὰν δὲ θῆλυ περιποιεῖσθε αὐτό (lxx) Exo 1:16 præcipiens eis: Quando obstetricabitis Hebræas, et partus tempus advenerit: si masculus fuerit, interficite eum: si femina, reservate.(vulgate) 16 ׃1 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר בְּיַלֶּדְכֶן֙ אֶת־הָֽעִבְרִיּ֔וֹת וּרְאִיתֶ֖ן עַל־הָאָבְנָ֑יִם אִם־בֵּ֥ן הוּא֙ וַהֲמִתֶּ֣ן אֹת֔וֹ וְאִם־בַּ֥ת הִ֖יא וָחָֽיָה׃ Exodus Exo 1:16 Wenn ihr den hebräischen Weibern helft, und auf dem Stuhl seht, daß es ein Sohn ist, so tötet ihn; ist's aber eine Tochter, so laßt sie leben.(dhs) Exo 1:16 and he said, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:17 ============ Exo 1:17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but let the boys live.(nas) Exo 1:17 ἐφοβήθησαν δὲ αἱ μαῖαι τὸν θεὸν καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησαν καθότι συνέταξεν αὐταῖς ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐζωογόνουν τὰ ἄρσενα (lxx) Exo 1:17 Timuerunt autem obstetrices Deum, et non fecerunt juxta præceptum regis Ægypti, sed conservabant mares.(vulgate) 17 ׃1 וַתִּירֶ֤אןָ הַֽמְיַלְּדֹת֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים וְלֹ֣א עָשׂ֔וּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר דִּבֶּ֥ר אֲלֵיהֶ֖ן מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרָ֑יִם וַתְּחַיֶּ֖יןָ אֶת־הַיְלָדִֽים׃ Exodus Exo 1:17 Aber die Wehmütter fürchteten Gott und taten nicht, wie der König von Ägypten ihnen gesagt hatte, sondern ließen die Kinder leben.(dhs) Exo 1:17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:18 ============ Exo 1:18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and let the boys live?"(nas) Exo 1:18 ἐκάλεσεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου τὰς μαίας καὶ εἶπεν αὐταῖς τί ὅτι ἐποιήσατε τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦτο καὶ ἐζωογονεῖτε τὰ ἄρσενα (lxx) Exo 1:18 Quibus ad se accersitis, rex ait: Quidnam est hoc quod facere voluistis, ut pueros servaretis?(vulgate) 18 ׃1 וַיִּקְרָ֤א מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֔ת וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֔ן מַדּ֥וּעַ עֲשִׂיתֶ֖ן הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וַתְּחַיֶּ֖יןָ אֶת־הַיְלָדִֽים׃ Exodus Exo 1:18 Da rief der König in Ägypten die Wehmütter und sprach zu ihnen: Warum tut ihr das, daß ihr die Kinder leben lasset?(dhs) Exo 1:18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and saved the male children alive?"(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:19 ============ Exo 1:19 The midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife can get to them."(nas) Exo 1:19 εἶπαν δὲ αἱ μαῖαι τῷ Φαραω οὐχ ὡς γυναῖκες Αἰγύπτου αἱ Εβραῖαι τίκτουσιν γὰρ πρὶν ἢ εἰσελθεῖν πρὸς αὐτὰς τὰς μαίας καὶ ἔτικτον (lxx) Exo 1:19 Quæ responderunt: Non sunt Hebreæ sicut ægyptiæ mulieres: ipsæ enim obstetricandi habent scientiam, et priusquam veniamus ad eas, pariunt.(vulgate) 19 ׃1 וַתֹּאמַ֤רְןָ הַֽמְיַלְּדֹת֙ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֔ה כִּ֣י לֹ֧א כַנָּשִׁ֛ים הַמִּצְרִיֹּ֖ת הָֽעִבְרִיֹּ֑ת כִּֽי־חָי֣וֹת הֵ֔נָּה בְּטֶ֨רֶם תָּב֧וֹא אֲלֵהֶ֛ן הַמְיַלֶּ֖דֶת וְיָלָֽדוּ׃ Exodus Exo 1:19 Die Wehmütter antworteten Pharao: Die hebräischen Weiber sind nicht wie die ägyptischen, denn sie sind harte Weiber; ehe die Wehmutter zu ihnen kommt, haben sie geboren.(dhs) Exo 1:19 And the midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 1:20 ============ Exo 1:20 So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied, and became very mighty.(nas) Exo 1:20 εὖ δὲ ἐποίει ὁ θεὸς ταῖς μαίαις καὶ ἐπλήθυνεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ ἴσχυεν σφόδρα (lxx) Exo 1:20 Bene ergo fecit Deus obstetricibus: et crevit populus, confortatusque est nimis.(vulgate) 20 ׃1 וַיֵּ֥יטֶב אֱלֹהִ֖ים לַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֑ת וַיִּ֧רֶב הָעָ֛ם וַיַּֽעַצְמ֖וּ מְאֹֽד׃ Exodus Exo 1:20 Darum tat Gott den Wehmüttern Gutes.
