Today's Date: Job 2:13 So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:1 ============ Job 3:1 Afterward Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.(nas) Job 3:1 μετὰ τοῦτο ἤνοιξεν Ιωβ τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 3:1 Post hæc aperuit Job os suum, et maledixit diei suo,(vulgate) 1 ׃3 אַחֲרֵי־כֵ֗ן פָּתַ֤ח אִיּוֹב֙ אֶת־פִּ֔יהוּ וַיְקַלֵּ֖ל אֶת־יוֹמֽוֹ׃ פ Job Job 3:1 Darnach tat Hiob seinen Mund auf und verfluchte seinen Tag.(dhs) Job 3:1 After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:2 ============ Job 3:2 And Job said,(nas) Job 3:2 καὶ κατηράσατο τὴν ἡμέραν αὐτοῦ λέγων (lxx) Job 3:2 et locutus est:(vulgate) 2 ׃3 וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Job Job 3:2 Und Hiob sprach:(dhs) Job 3:2 And Job spoke, and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 3:3 ============ Job 3:3 "Let the day perish on which I was to be born, And the night which said, 'A boy is conceived.'(nas) Job 3:3 ἀπόλοιτο ἡ ἡμέρα ἐν ᾗ ἐγεννήθην καὶ ἡ νύξ ἐν ᾗ εἶπαν ἰδοὺ ἄρσεν (lxx) Job 3:3 [Pereat dies in qua natus sum, et nox in qua dictum est: Conceptus est homo.(vulgate) 3 ׃3 יֹ֣אבַד י֭וֹם אִוָּ֣לֶד בּ֑וֹ וְהַלַּ֥יְלָה אָ֝מַ֗ר הֹ֣רָה גָֽבֶר׃ Job Job 3:3 Der Tag müsse verloren sein, darin ich geboren bin, und die Nacht, welche sprach: Es ist ein Männlein empfangen!(dhs) Job 3:3 "May the day perish on which I was born, And the night in which it was said, 'A male child is conceived.'(nkjv) ======= Job 3:4 ============ Job 3:4 "May that day be darkness; Let not God above care for it, Nor light shine on it.(nas) Job 3:4 ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνη εἴη σκότος καὶ μὴ ἀναζητήσαι αὐτὴν ὁ κύριος ἄνωθεν μηδὲ ἔλθοι εἰς αὐτὴν φέγγος (lxx) Job 3:4 Dies ille vertatur in tenebras: non requirat eum Deus desuper, et non illustretur lumine.(vulgate) 4 ׃3 הַיּ֥וֹם הַה֗וּא יְֽהִ֫י חֹ֥שֶׁךְ אַֽל־יִדְרְשֵׁ֣הוּ אֱל֣וֹהַּ מִמָּ֑עַל וְאַל־תּוֹפַ֖ע עָלָ֣יו נְהָרָֽה׃ Job Job 3:4 Derselbe Tag müsse finster sein, und Gott von obenherab müsse nicht nach ihm fragen; kein Glanz müsse über ihn scheinen!(dhs) Job 3:4 May that day be darkness; May God above not seek it, Nor the light shine upon it.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:5 ============ Job 3:5 "Let darkness and black gloom claim it; Let a cloud settle on it; Let the blackness of the day terrify it.(nas) Job 3:5 ἐκλάβοι δὲ αὐτὴν σκότος καὶ σκιὰ θανάτου ἐπέλθοι ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν γνόφος (lxx) Job 3:5 Obscurent eum tenebræ et umbra mortis; occupet eum caligo, et involvatur amaritudine.(vulgate) 5 ׃3 יִגְאָלֻ֡הוּ חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְ֭צַלְמָוֶת תִּשְׁכָּן־עָלָ֣יו עֲנָנָ֑ה יְ֝בַעֲתֻ֗הוּ כִּֽמְרִ֥ירֵי יֽוֹם׃ Job Job 3:5 Finsternis und Dunkel müssen ihn überwältigen, und dicke Wolken müssen über ihm bleiben, und der Dampf am Tage mache ihn gräßlich!(dhs) Job 3:5 May darkness and the shadow of death claim it; May a cloud settle on it; May the blackness of the day terrify it.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:6 ============ Job 3:6 "As for that night, let darkness seize it; Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; Let it not come into the number of the months.(nas) Job 3:6 καταραθείη ἡ ἡμέρα καὶ ἡ νὺξ ἐκείνη ἀπενέγκαιτο αὐτὴν σκότος μὴ εἴη εἰς ἡμέρας ἐνιαυτοῦ μηδὲ ἀριθμηθείη εἰς ἡμέρας μηνῶν (lxx) Job 3:6 Noctem illam tenebrosus turbo possideat; non computetur in diebus anni, nec numeretur in mensibus.(vulgate) 6 ׃3 הַלַּ֥יְלָה הַהוּא֮ יִקָּחֵ֢ה֫וּ אֹ֥פֶל אַל־יִ֭חַדְּ בִּימֵ֣י שָׁנָ֑ה בְּמִסְפַּ֥ר יְ֝רָחִ֗ים אַל־יָבֹֽא׃ Job Job 3:6 Die Nacht müsse Dunkel einnehmen; sie müsse sich nicht unter den Tagen des Jahres freuen noch in die Zahl der Monden kommen!(dhs) Job 3:6 As for that night, may darkness seize it; May it not rejoice among the days of the year, May it not come into the number of the months.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:7 ============ Job 3:7 "Behold, let that night be barren; Let no joyful shout enter it.(nas) Job 3:7 ἀλλὰ ἡ νὺξ ἐκείνη εἴη ὀδύνη καὶ μὴ ἔλθοι ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν εὐφροσύνη μηδὲ χαρμονή (lxx) Job 3:7 Sit nox illa solitaria, nec laude digna.(vulgate) 7 ׃3 הִנֵּ֤ה הַלַּ֣יְלָה הַ֭הוּא יְהִ֣י גַלְמ֑וּד אַל־תָּבֹ֖א רְנָנָ֣ה בֽוֹ׃ Job Job 3:7 Siehe, die Nacht müsse einsam sein und kein Jauchzen darin sein!(dhs) Job 3:7 Oh, may that night be barren! May no joyful shout come into it!(nkjv) ======= Job 3:8 ============ Job 3:8 "Let those curse it who curse the day, Who are prepared to rouse Leviathan.(nas) Job 3:8 ἀλλὰ καταράσαιτο αὐτὴν ὁ καταρώμενος τὴν ἡμέραν ἐκείνην ὁ μέλλων τὸ μέγα κῆτος χειρώσασθαι (lxx) Job 3:8 Maledicant ei qui maledicunt diei, qui parati sunt suscitare Leviathan.(vulgate) 8 ׃3 יִקְּבֻ֥הוּ אֹרְרֵי־י֑וֹם הָ֝עֲתִידִ֗ים עֹרֵ֥ר לִוְיָתָֽן׃ Job Job 3:8 Es müssen sie verfluchen die Verflucher des Tages und die da bereit sind, zu erregen den Leviathan!(dhs) Job 3:8 May those curse it who curse the day, Those who are ready to arouse Leviathan.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:9 ============ Job 3:9 "Let the stars of its twilight be darkened; Let it wait for light but have none, And let it not see the breaking dawn;(nas) Job 3:9 σκοτωθείη τὰ ἄστρα τῆς νυκτὸς ἐκείνης ὑπομείναι καὶ εἰς φωτισμὸν μὴ ἔλθοι καὶ μὴ ἴδοι ἑωσφόρον ἀνατέλλοντα (lxx) Job 3:9 Obtenebrentur stellæ caligine ejus; expectet lucem, et non videat, nec ortum surgentis auroræ.(vulgate) 9 ׃3 יֶחְשְׁכוּ֮ כּוֹכְבֵ֢י נִ֫שְׁפּ֥וֹ יְקַו־לְא֥וֹר וָאַ֑יִן וְאַל־יִ֝רְאֶ֗ה בְּעַפְעַפֵּי־שָֽׁחַר׃ Job Job 3:9 Ihre Sterne müssen finster sein in ihrer Dämmerung; sie hoffe aufs Licht, und es komme nicht, und müsse nicht sehen die Wimpern der Morgenröte,(dhs) Job 3:9 May the stars of its morning be dark; May it look for light, but have none, And not see the dawning of the day;(nkjv) ======= Job 3:10 ============ Job 3:10 Because it did not shut the opening of my mother's womb, Or hide trouble from my eyes.(nas) Job 3:10 ὅτι οὐ συνέκλεισεν πύλας γαστρὸς μητρός μου ἀπήλλαξεν γὰρ ἂν πόνον ἀπὸ ὀφθαλμῶν μου (lxx) Job 3:10 Quia non conclusit ostia ventris qui portavit me, nec abstulit mala ab oculis meis.(vulgate) 10 ׃3 כִּ֤י לֹ֣א סָ֭גַר דַּלְתֵ֣י בִטְנִ֑י וַיַּסְתֵּ֥ר עָ֝מָ֗ל מֵעֵינָֽי׃ Job Job 3:10 darum daß sie nicht verschlossen hat die Tür des Leibes meiner Mutter und nicht verborgen das Unglück vor meinen Augen!(dhs) Job 3:10 Because it did not shut up the doors of my mother's womb, Nor hide sorrow from my eyes.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:11 ============ Job 3:11 "Why did I not die at birth, Come forth from the womb and expire?(nas) Job 3:11 διὰ τί γὰρ ἐν κοιλίᾳ οὐκ ἐτελεύτησα ἐκ γαστρὸς δὲ ἐξῆλθον καὶ οὐκ εὐθὺς ἀπωλόμην (lxx) Job 3:11 Quare non in vulva mortuus sum? egressus ex utero non statim perii?(vulgate) 11 ׃3 לָ֤מָּה לֹּ֣א מֵרֶ֣חֶם אָמ֑וּת מִבֶּ֖טֶן יָצָ֣אתִי וְאֶגְוָֽע׃ Job Job 3:11 Warum bin ich nicht gestorben von Mutterleib an? Warum bin ich nicht verschieden, da ich aus dem Leibe kam?(dhs) Job 3:11 "Why did I not die at birth? Why did I not perish when I came from the womb?(nkjv) ======= Job 3:12 ============ Job 3:12 "Why did the knees receive me, And why the breasts, that I should suck?(nas) Job 3:12 ἵνα τί δὲ συνήντησάν μοι γόνατα ἵνα τί δὲ μαστοὺς ἐθήλασα (lxx) Job 3:12 Quare exceptus genibus? cur lactatus uberibus?(vulgate) 12 ׃3 מַ֭דּוּעַ קִדְּמ֣וּנִי בִרְכָּ֑יִם וּמַה־שָּׁ֝דַ֗יִם כִּ֣י אִינָֽק׃ Job Job 3:12 Warum hat man mich auf den Schoß gesetzt? Warum bin ich mit Brüsten gesäugt?(dhs) Job 3:12 Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse?(nkjv) ======= Job 3:13 ============ Job 3:13 "For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,(nas) Job 3:13 νῦν ἂν κοιμηθεὶς ἡσύχασα ὑπνώσας δὲ ἀνεπαυσάμην (lxx) Job 3:13 Nunc enim dormiens silerem, et somno meo requiescerem(vulgate) 13 ׃3 כִּֽי־עַ֭תָּה שָׁכַ֣בְתִּי וְאֶשְׁק֑וֹט יָ֝שַׁ֗נְתִּי אָ֤ז ׀ יָנ֬וּחַֽ לִֽי׃ Job Job 3:13 So läge ich doch nun und wäre still, schliefe und hätte Ruhe(dhs) Job 3:13 For now I would have lain still and been quiet, I would have been asleep; Then I would have been at rest(nkjv) ======= Job 3:14 ============ Job 3:14 With kings and with counselors of the earth, Who rebuilt ruins for themselves;(nas) Job 3:14 μετὰ βασιλέων βουλευτῶν γῆς οἳ ἠγαυριῶντο ἐπὶ ξίφεσιν (lxx) Job 3:14 cum regibus et consulibus terræ, qui ædificant sibi solitudines;(vulgate) 14 ׃3 עִם־מְ֭לָכִים וְיֹ֣עֲצֵי אָ֑רֶץ הַבֹּנִ֖ים חֳרָב֣וֹת לָֽמוֹ׃ Job Job 3:14 mit den Königen und Ratsherren auf Erden, die das Wüste bauen,(dhs) Job 3:14 With kings and counselors of the earth, Who built ruins for themselves,(nkjv) ======= Job 3:15 ============ Job 3:15 Or with princes who had gold, Who were filling their houses with silver.(nas) Job 3:15 ἢ μετὰ ἀρχόντων ὧν πολὺς ὁ χρυσός οἳ ἔπλησαν τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν ἀργυρίου (lxx) Job 3:15 aut cum principibus qui possident aurum, et replent domos suas argento;(vulgate) 15 ׃3 א֣וֹ עִם־שָׂ֭רִים זָהָ֣ב לָהֶ֑ם הַֽמְמַלְאִ֖ים בָּתֵּיהֶ֣ם כָּֽסֶף׃ Job Job 3:15 oder mit den Fürsten, die Gold haben und deren Häuser voll Silber sind.(dhs) Job 3:15 Or with princes who had gold, Who filled their houses with silver;(nkjv) ======= Job 3:16 ============ Job 3:16 "Or like a miscarriage which is discarded, I would not be, As infants that never saw light.(nas) Job 3:16 ἢ ὥσπερ ἔκτρωμα ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ μήτρας μητρὸς ἢ ὥσπερ νήπιοι οἳ οὐκ εἶδον φῶς (lxx) Job 3:16 aut sicut abortivum absconditum non subsisterem, vel qui concepti non viderunt lucem.(vulgate) 16 ׃3 א֤וֹ כְנֵ֣פֶל טָ֭מוּן לֹ֣א אֶהְיֶ֑ה כְּ֝עֹלְלִ֗ים לֹא־רָ֥אוּ אֽוֹר׃ Job Job 3:16 Oder wie eine unzeitige Geburt, die man verborgen hat, wäre ich gar nicht, wie Kinder, die das Licht nie gesehen haben.(dhs) Job 3:16 Or why was I not hidden like a stillborn child, Like infants who never saw light?(nkjv) ======= Job 3:17 ============ Job 3:17 "There the wicked cease from raging, And there the weary are at rest.(nas) Job 3:17 ἐκεῖ ἀσεβεῖς ἐξέκαυσαν θυμὸν ὀργῆς ἐκεῖ ἀνεπαύσαντο κατάκοποι τῷ σώματι (lxx) Job 3:17 Ibi impii cessaverunt a tumultu, et ibi requieverunt fessi robore.(vulgate) 17 ׃3 שָׁ֣ם רְ֭שָׁעִים חָ֣דְלוּ רֹ֑גֶז וְשָׁ֥ם יָ֝נ֗וּחוּ יְגִ֣יעֵי כֹֽחַ׃ Job Job 3:17 Daselbst müssen doch aufhören die Gottlosen mit Toben; daselbst ruhen doch, die viel Mühe gehabt haben.(dhs) Job 3:17 There the wicked cease from troubling, And there the weary are at rest.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:18 ============ Job 3:18 "The prisoners are at ease together; They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster.(nas) Job 3:18 ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ οἱ αἰώνιοι οὐκ ἤκουσαν φωνὴν φορολόγου (lxx) Job 3:18 Et quondam vincti pariter sine molestia, non audierunt vocem exactoris.(vulgate) 18 ׃3 יַ֭חַד אֲסִירִ֣ים שַׁאֲנָ֑נוּ לֹ֥א שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ ק֣וֹל נֹגֵֽשׂ׃ Job Job 3:18 Da haben doch miteinander Frieden die Gefangenen und hören nicht die Stimme des Drängers.(dhs) Job 3:18 There the prisoners rest together; They do not hear the voice of the oppressor.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:19 ============ Job 3:19 "The small and the great are there, And the slave is free from his master.(nas) Job 3:19 μικρὸς καὶ μέγας ἐκεῖ ἐστιν καὶ θεράπων οὐ δεδοικὼς τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 3:19 Parvus et magnus ibi sunt, et servus liber a domino suo.(vulgate) 19 ׃3 קָטֹ֣ן וְ֭גָדוֹל שָׁ֣ם ה֑וּא וְ֝עֶ֗בֶד חָפְשִׁ֥י מֵאֲדֹנָֽיו׃ Job Job 3:19 Da sind beide, klein und groß, und der Knecht ist frei von seinem Herrn.(dhs) Job 3:19 The small and great are there, And the servant is free from his master.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:20 ============ Job 3:20 "Why is light given to him who suffers, And life to the bitter of soul,(nas) Job 3:20 ἵνα τί γὰρ δέδοται τοῖς ἐν πικρίᾳ φῶς ζωὴ δὲ ταῖς ἐν ὀδύναις ψυχαῖς (lxx) Job 3:20 Quare misero data est lux, et vita his qui in amaritudine animæ sunt:(vulgate) 20 ׃3 לָ֤מָּה יִתֵּ֣ן לְעָמֵ֣ל א֑וֹר וְ֝חַיִּ֗ים לְמָ֣רֵי נָֽפֶשׁ׃ Job Job 3:20 Warum ist das Licht gegeben dem Mühseligen und das Leben den betrübten Herzen(dhs) Job 3:20 "Why is light given to him who is in misery, And life to the bitter of soul,(nkjv) ======= Job 3:21 ============ Job 3:21 Who long for death, but there is none, And dig for it more than for hidden treasures,(nas) Job 3:21 οἳ ὁμείρονται τοῦ θανάτου καὶ οὐ τυγχάνουσιν ἀνορύσσοντες ὥσπερ θησαυρούς (lxx) Job 3:21 qui expectant mortem, et non venit, quasi effodientes thesaurum;(vulgate) 21 ׃3 הַֽמְחַכִּ֣ים לַמָּ֣וֶת וְאֵינֶ֑נּוּ וַֽ֝יַּחְפְּרֻ֗הוּ מִמַּטְמוֹנִֽים׃ Job Job 3:21 (die des Todes warten, und er kommt nicht, und grüben ihn wohl aus dem Verborgenen,(dhs) Job 3:21 Who long for death, but it does not come, And search for it more than hidden treasures;(nkjv) ======= Job 3:22 ============ Job 3:22 Who rejoice greatly, And exult when they find the grave?(nas) Job 3:22 περιχαρεῖς δὲ ἐγένοντο ἐὰν κατατύχωσιν (lxx) Job 3:22 gaudentque vehementer cum invenerint sepulchrum?(vulgate) 22 ׃3 הַשְּׂמֵחִ֥ים אֱלֵי־גִ֑יל יָ֝שִׂ֗ישׂוּ כִּ֣י יִמְצְאוּ־קָֽבֶר׃ Job Job 3:22 die sich sehr freuten und fröhlich wären, wenn sie ein Grab bekämen),(dhs) Job 3:22 Who rejoice exceedingly, And are glad when they can find the grave?(nkjv) ======= Job 3:23 ============ Job 3:23 "Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, And whom God has hedged in?(nas) Job 3:23 θάνατος ἀνδρὶ ἀνάπαυμα συνέκλεισεν γὰρ ὁ θεὸς κατ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 3:23 viro cujus abscondita est via et circumdedit eum Deus tenebris?(vulgate) 23 ׃3 לְ֭גֶבֶר אֲשֶׁר־דַּרְכּ֣וֹ נִסְתָּ֑רָה וַיָּ֖סֶךְ אֱל֣וֹהַּ בַּעֲדֽוֹ׃ Job Job 3:23 dem Manne, dessen Weg verborgen ist und vor ihm von Gott verzäunt ward?(dhs) Job 3:23 Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, And whom God has hedged in?(nkjv) ======= Job 3:24 ============ Job 3:24 "For my groaning comes at the sight of my food, And my cries pour out like water.(nas) Job 3:24 πρὸ γὰρ τῶν σίτων μου στεναγμός μοι ἥκει δακρύω δὲ ἐγὼ συνεχόμενος φόβῳ (lxx) Job 3:24 Antequam comedam, suspiro; et tamquam inundantes aquæ, sic rugitus meus:(vulgate) 24 ׃3 כִּֽי־לִפְנֵ֣י לַ֭חְמִי אַנְחָתִ֣י תָבֹ֑א וַֽיִּתְּכ֥וּ כַ֝מַּ֗יִם שַׁאֲגֹתָֽי׃ Job Job 3:24 Denn wenn ich essen soll, muß ich seufzen, und mein Heulen fährt heraus wie Wasser.(dhs) Job 3:24 For my sighing comes before I eat, And my groanings pour out like water.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:25 ============ Job 3:25 "For what I fear comes upon me, And what I dread befalls me.(nas) Job 3:25 φόβος γάρ ὃν ἐφρόντισα ἦλθέν μοι καὶ ὃν ἐδεδοίκειν συνήντησέν μοι (lxx) Job 3:25 quia timor quem timebam evenit mihi, et quod verebar accidit.(vulgate) 25 ׃3 כִּ֤י פַ֣חַד פָּ֭חַדְתִּי וַיֶּאֱתָיֵ֑נִי וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָ֝גֹ֗רְתִּי יָ֣בֹא לִֽי׃ Job Job 3:25 Denn was ich gefürchtet habe ist über mich gekommen, und was ich sorgte, hat mich getroffen.(dhs) Job 3:25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.(nkjv) ======= Job 3:26 ============ Job 3:26 "I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, And I am not at rest, but turmoil comes."(nas) Job 3:26 οὔτε εἰρήνευσα οὔτε ἡσύχασα οὔτε ἀνεπαυσάμην ἦλθεν δέ μοι ὀργή (lxx) Job 3:26 Nonne dissimulavi? nonne silui? nonne quievi? et venit super me indignatio.](vulgate) 26 ׃3 לֹ֤א שָׁלַ֨וְתִּי ׀ וְלֹ֖א שָׁקַ֥טְתִּי וְֽלֹא־נָ֗חְתִּי וַיָּ֥בֹא רֹֽגֶז׃ פ Job Job 3:26 War ich nicht glückselig? War ich nicht fein stille? Hatte ich nicht gute Ruhe?
