Today's Date: Job 3:26 I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, for trouble comes."(nkjv) ======= Job 4:1 ============ Job 4:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,(nas) Job 4:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ελιφας ὁ Θαιμανίτης λέγει (lxx) Job 4:1 Respondens autem Eliphaz Themanites, dixit:(vulgate) 1 ׃4 וַ֭יַּעַן אֱלִיפַ֥ז הַֽתֵּימָנִ֗י וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Job Job 4:1 Da antwortete Eliphas von Theman und sprach:(dhs) Job 4:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 4:2 ============ Job 4:2 "If one ventures a word with you, will you become impatient? But who can refrain from speaking?(nas) Job 4:2 μὴ πολλάκις σοι λελάληται ἐν κόπῳ ἰσχὺν δὲ ῥημάτων σου τίς ὑποίσει (lxx) Job 4:2 [Si cœperimus loqui tibi, forsitan moleste accipies; sed conceptum sermonem tenere quis poterit?(vulgate) 2 ׃4 הֲנִסָּ֬ה דָבָ֣ר אֵלֶ֣יךָ תִּלְאֶ֑ה וַעְצֹ֥ר בְּ֝מִלִּ֗ין מִ֣י יוּכָֽל׃ Job Job 4:2 Du hast's vielleicht nicht gern, so man versucht, mit dir zu reden; aber wer kann sich's enthalten?(dhs) Job 4:2 "If one attempts a word with you, will you become weary? But who can withhold himself from speaking?(nkjv) ======= Job 4:3 ============ Job 4:3 "Behold you have admonished many, And you have strengthened weak hands.(nas) Job 4:3 εἰ γὰρ σὺ ἐνουθέτησας πολλοὺς καὶ χεῖρας ἀσθενοῦς παρεκάλεσας (lxx) Job 4:3 Ecce docuisti multos, et manus lassas roborasti;(vulgate) 3 ׃4 הִ֭נֵּה יִסַּ֣רְתָּ רַבִּ֑ים וְיָדַ֖יִם רָפ֣וֹת תְּחַזֵּֽק׃ Job Job 4:3 Siehe, du hast viele unterwiesen und lässige Hände gestärkt;(dhs) Job 4:3 Surely you have instructed many, And you have strengthened weak hands.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:4 ============ Job 4:4 "Your words have helped the tottering to stand, And you have strengthened feeble knees.(nas) Job 4:4 ἀσθενοῦντάς τε ἐξανέστησας ῥήμασιν γόνασίν τε ἀδυνατοῦσιν θάρσος περιέθηκας (lxx) Job 4:4 vacillantes confirmaverunt sermones tui, et genua trementia confortasti.(vulgate) 4 ׃4 כּ֭וֹשֵׁל יְקִימ֣וּן מִלֶּ֑יךָ וּבִרְכַּ֖יִם כֹּרְע֣וֹת תְּאַמֵּֽץ׃ Job Job 4:4 deine Rede hat die Gefallenen aufgerichtet, und die bebenden Kniee hast du gekräftigt.(dhs) Job 4:4 Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, And you have strengthened the feeble knees;(nkjv) ======= Job 4:5 ============ Job 4:5 "But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; It touches you, and you are dismayed.(nas) Job 4:5 νῦν δὲ ἥκει ἐπὶ σὲ πόνος καὶ ἥψατό σου σὺ δὲ ἐσπούδασας (lxx) Job 4:5 Nunc autem venit super te plaga, et defecisti; tetigit te, et conturbatus es.(vulgate) 5 ׃4 כִּ֤י עַתָּ֨ה ׀ תָּב֣וֹא אֵלֶ֣יךָ וַתֵּ֑לֶא תִּגַּ֥ע עָ֝דֶ֗יךָ וַתִּבָּהֵֽל׃ Job Job 4:5 Nun aber es an dich kommt, wirst du weich; und nun es dich trifft, erschrickst du.(dhs) Job 4:5 But now it comes upon you, and you are weary; It touches you, and you are troubled.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:6 ============ Job 4:6 "Is not your fear of God your confidence, And the integrity of your ways your hope?(nas) Job 4:6 πότερον οὐχ ὁ φόβος σού ἐστιν ἐν ἀφροσύνῃ καὶ ἡ ἐλπίς σου καὶ ἡ ἀκακία τῆς ὁδοῦ σου (lxx) Job 4:6 Ubi est timor tuus, fortitudo tua, patientia tua, et perfectio viarum tuarum?(vulgate) 6 ׃4 הֲלֹ֣א יִ֭רְאָתְךָ כִּסְלָתֶ֑ךָ תִּ֝קְוָתְךָ֗ וְתֹ֣ם דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃ Job Job 4:6 Ist nicht deine Gottesfurcht dein Trost, deine Hoffnung die Unsträflichkeit deiner Wege?(dhs) Job 4:6 Is not your reverence your confidence? And the integrity of your ways your hope?(nkjv) ======= Job 4:7 ============ Job 4:7 "Remember now, who ever perished being innocent? Or where were the upright destroyed?(nas) Job 4:7 μνήσθητι οὖν τίς καθαρὸς ὢν ἀπώλετο ἢ πότε ἀληθινοὶ ὁλόρριζοι ἀπώλοντο (lxx) Job 4:7 Recordare, obsecro te, quis umquam innocens periit? aut quando recti deleti sunt?(vulgate) 7 ׃4 זְכָר־נָ֗א מִ֤י ה֣וּא נָקִ֣י אָבָ֑ד וְ֝אֵיפֹ֗ה יְשָׁרִ֥ים נִכְחָֽדוּ׃ Job Job 4:7 Gedenke doch, wo ist ein Unschuldiger umgekommen? oder wo sind die Gerechten je vertilgt?(dhs) Job 4:7 "Remember now, who ever perished being innocent? Or where were the upright ever cut off?(nkjv) ======= Job 4:8 ============ Job 4:8 "According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity And those who sow trouble harvest it.(nas) Job 4:8 καθ᾽ ὃν τρόπον εἶδον τοὺς ἀροτριῶντας τὰ ἄτοπα οἱ δὲ σπείροντες αὐτὰ ὀδύνας θεριοῦσιν ἑαυτοῖς (lxx) Job 4:8 Quin potius vidi eos qui operantur iniquitatem, et seminant dolores, et metunt eos,(vulgate) 8 ׃4 כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר רָ֭אִיתִי חֹ֣רְשֵׁי אָ֑וֶן וְזֹרְעֵ֖י עָמָ֣ל יִקְצְרֻֽהוּ׃ Job Job 4:8 Wie ich wohl gesehen habe: die da Mühe pflügen und Unglück säten, ernteten es auch ein;(dhs) Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, Those who plow iniquity And sow trouble reap the same.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:9 ============ Job 4:9 "By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of His anger they come to an end.(nas) Job 4:9 ἀπὸ προστάγματος κυρίου ἀπολοῦνται ἀπὸ δὲ πνεύματος ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ ἀφανισθήσονται (lxx) Job 4:9 flante Deo perisse, et spiritu iræ ejus esse consumptos.(vulgate) 9 ׃4 מִנִּשְׁמַ֣ת אֱל֣וֹהַ יֹאבֵ֑דוּ וּמֵר֖וּחַ אַפּ֣וֹ יִכְלֽוּ׃ Job Job 4:9 durch den Odem Gottes sind sie umgekommen und vom Geist seines Zorns vertilgt.(dhs) Job 4:9 By the blast of God they perish, And by the breath of His anger they are consumed.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:10 ============ Job 4:10 "The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.(nas) Job 4:10 σθένος λέοντος φωνὴ δὲ λεαίνης γαυρίαμα δὲ δρακόντων ἐσβέσθη (lxx) Job 4:10 Rugitus leonis, et vox leænæ, et dentes catulorum leonum contriti sunt.(vulgate) 10 ׃4 שַׁאֲגַ֣ת אַ֭רְיֵה וְק֣וֹל שָׁ֑חַל וְשִׁנֵּ֖י כְפִירִ֣ים נִתָּֽעוּ׃ Job Job 4:10 Das Brüllen der Löwen und die Stimme der großen Löwen und die Zähne der jungen Löwen sind zerbrochen.(dhs) Job 4:10 The roaring of the lion, The voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:11 ============ Job 4:11 "The lion perishes for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered.(nas) Job 4:11 μυρμηκολέων ὤλετο παρὰ τὸ μὴ ἔχειν βοράν σκύμνοι δὲ λεόντων ἔλιπον ἀλλήλους (lxx) Job 4:11 Tigris periit, eo quod non haberet prædam, et catuli leonis dissipati sunt.(vulgate) 11 ׃4 לַ֭יִשׁ אֹבֵ֣ד מִבְּלִי־טָ֑רֶף וּבְנֵ֥י לָ֝בִ֗יא יִתְפָּרָֽדוּ׃ Job Job 4:11 Der Löwe ist umgekommen, daß er nicht mehr raubt, und die Jungen der Löwin sind zerstreut.(dhs) Job 4:11 The old lion perishes for lack of prey, And the cubs of the lioness are scattered.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:12 ============ Job 4:12 "Now a word was brought to me stealthily, And my ear received a whisper of it.(nas) Job 4:12 εἰ δέ τι ῥῆμα ἀληθινὸν ἐγεγόνει ἐν λόγοις σου οὐθὲν ἄν σοι τούτων κακὸν ἀπήντησεν πότερον οὐ δέξεταί μου τὸ οὖς ἐξαίσια παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 4:12 Porro ad me dictum est verbum absconditum, et quasi furtive suscepit auris mea venas susurri ejus.(vulgate) 12 ׃4 וְ֭אֵלַי דָּבָ֣ר יְגֻנָּ֑ב וַתִּקַּ֥ח אָ֝זְנִ֗י שֵׁ֣מֶץ מֽ͏ֶנְהֽוּ׃ Job Job 4:12 Und zu mir ist gekommen ein heimlich Wort, und mein Ohr hat ein Wörtlein davon empfangen.(dhs) Job 4:12 "Now a word was secretly brought to me, And my ear received a whisper of it.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:13 ============ Job 4:13 "Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falls on men,(nas) Job 4:13 φόβοι δὲ καὶ ἠχὼ νυκτερινή ἐπιπίπτων φόβος ἐπ᾽ ἀνθρώπους (lxx) Job 4:13 In horrore visionis nocturnæ, quando solet sopor occupare homines,(vulgate) 13 ׃4 בִּ֭שְׂעִפִּים מֵחֶזְיֹנ֣וֹת לָ֑יְלָה בִּנְפֹ֥ל תַּ֝רְדֵּמָ֗ה עַל־אֲנָשִֽׁים׃ Job Job 4:13 Da ich Gesichte betrachtete in der Nacht, wenn der Schlaf auf die Leute fällt,(dhs) Job 4:13 In disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falls on men,(nkjv) ======= Job 4:14 ============ Job 4:14 Dread came upon me, and trembling, And made all my bones shake.(nas) Job 4:14 φρίκη δέ μοι συνήντησεν καὶ τρόμος καὶ μεγάλως μου τὰ ὀστᾶ συνέσεισεν (lxx) Job 4:14 pavor tenuit me, et tremor, et omnia ossa mea perterrita sunt;(vulgate) 14 ׃4 פַּ֣חַד קְ֭רָאַנִי וּרְעָדָ֑ה וְרֹ֖ב עַצְמוֹתַ֣י הִפְחִֽיד׃ Job Job 4:14 da kam mich Furcht und Zittern an, und alle meine Gebeine erschraken.(dhs) Job 4:14 Fear came upon me, and trembling, Which made all my bones shake.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:15 ============ Job 4:15 "Then a spirit passed by my face; The hair of my flesh bristled up.(nas) Job 4:15 καὶ πνεῦμα ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπῆλθεν ἔφριξαν δέ μου τρίχες καὶ σάρκες (lxx) Job 4:15 et cum spiritus, me præsente, transiret, inhorruerunt pili carnis meæ.(vulgate) 15 ׃4 וְ֭רוּחַ עַל־פָּנַ֣י יַחֲלֹ֑ף תְּ֝סַמֵּ֗ר שַֽׂעֲרַ֥ת בְּשָׂרִֽי׃ Job Job 4:15 Und da der Geist an mir vorüberging standen mir die Haare zu Berge an meinem Leibe.(dhs) Job 4:15 Then a spirit passed before my face; The hair on my body stood up.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:16 ============ Job 4:16 "It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance; A form was before my eyes; There was silence, then I heard a voice:(nas) Job 4:16 ἀνέστην καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνων εἶδον καὶ οὐκ ἦν μορφὴ πρὸ ὀφθαλμῶν μου ἀλλ᾽ ἢ αὔραν καὶ φωνὴν ἤκουον (lxx) Job 4:16 Stetit quidam, cujus non agnoscebam vultum, imago coram oculis meis, et vocem quasi auræ lenis audivi.(vulgate) 16 ׃4 יַעֲמֹ֤ד ׀ וְֽלֹא־אַכִּ֬יר מַרְאֵ֗הוּ תְּ֭מוּנָה לְנֶ֣גֶד עֵינָ֑י דְּמָמָ֖ה וָק֣וֹל אֶשְׁמָֽע׃ Job Job 4:16 Da stand ein Bild vor meinen Augen, und ich kannte seine Gestalt nicht; es war still, und ich hörte eine Stimme:(dhs) Job 4:16 It stood still, But I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes; There was silence; Then I heard a voice saying:(nkjv) ======= Job 4:17 ============ Job 4:17 'Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker?(nas) Job 4:17 τί γάρ μὴ καθαρὸς ἔσται βροτὸς ἐναντίον κυρίου ἢ ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ἄμεμπτος ἀνήρ (lxx) Job 4:17 Numquid homo, Dei comparatione, justificabitur? aut factore suo purior erit vir?(vulgate) 17 ׃4 הַֽ֭אֱנוֹשׁ מֵאֱל֣וֹהַ יִצְדָּ֑ק אִ֥ם מֵ֝עֹשֵׂ֗הוּ יִטְהַר־גָּֽבֶר׃ Job Job 4:17 Wie kann ein Mensch gerecht sein vor Gott? oder ein Mann rein sein vor dem, der ihn gemacht hat?(dhs) Job 4:17 'Can a mortal be more righteous than God? Can a man be more pure than his Maker?(nkjv) ======= Job 4:18 ============ Job 4:18 'He puts no trust even in His servants; And against His angels He charges error.(nas) Job 4:18 εἰ κατὰ παίδων αὐτοῦ οὐ πιστεύει κατὰ δὲ ἀγγέλων αὐτοῦ σκολιόν τι ἐπενόησεν (lxx) Job 4:18 Ecce qui serviunt ei, non sunt stabiles, et in angelis suis reperit pravitatem;(vulgate) 18 ׃4 הֵ֣ן בַּ֭עֲבָדָיו לֹ֣א יַאֲמִ֑ין וּ֝בְמַלְאָכָ֗יו יָשִׂ֥ים תָּהֳלָֽה׃ Job Job 4:18 Siehe, unter seinen Knechten ist keiner ohne Tadel, und seine Boten zeiht er der Torheit:(dhs) Job 4:18 If He puts no trust in His servants, If He charges His angels with error,(nkjv) ======= Job 4:19 ============ Job 4:19 'How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!(nas) Job 4:19 τοὺς δὲ κατοικοῦντας οἰκίας πηλίνας ἐξ ὧν καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐκ τοῦ αὐτοῦ πηλοῦ ἐσμεν ἔπαισεν αὐτοὺς σητὸς τρόπον (lxx) Job 4:19 quanto magis hi qui habitant domos luteas, qui terrenum habent fundamentum, consumentur velut a tinea?(vulgate) 19 ׃4 אַ֤ף ׀ שֹׁכְנֵ֬י בָֽתֵּי־חֹ֗מֶר אֲשֶׁר־בֶּעָפָ֥ר יְסוֹדָ֑ם יְ֝דַכְּא֗וּם לִפְנֵי־עָֽשׁ׃ Job Job 4:19 wie viel mehr die in Lehmhäusern wohnen und auf Erde gegründet sind und werden von Würmern gefressen!(dhs) Job 4:19 How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before a moth?(nkjv) ======= Job 4:20 ============ Job 4:20 'Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces; Unobserved, they perish forever.(nas) Job 4:20 καὶ ἀπὸ πρωίθεν ἕως ἑσπέρας οὐκέτι εἰσίν παρὰ τὸ μὴ δύνασθαι αὐτοὺς ἑαυτοῖς βοηθῆσαι ἀπώλοντο (lxx) Job 4:20 De mane usque ad vesperam succidentur; et quia nullus intelligit, in æternum peribunt.(vulgate) 20 ׃4 מִבֹּ֣קֶר לָעֶ֣רֶב יֻכַּ֑תּוּ מִבְּלִ֥י מֵ֝שִׂ֗ים לָנֶ֥צַח יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃ Job Job 4:20 Es währt vom Morgen bis an den Abend, so werden sie zerschlagen; und ehe sie es gewahr werden, sind sie gar dahin,(dhs) Job 4:20 They are broken in pieces from morning till evening; They perish forever, with no one regarding.(nkjv) ======= Job 4:21 ============ Job 4:21 'Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, yet without wisdom.'(nas) Job 4:21 ἐνεφύσησεν γὰρ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐξηράνθησαν ἀπώλοντο παρὰ τὸ μὴ ἔχειν αὐτοὺς σοφίαν (lxx) Job 4:21 Qui autem reliqui fuerint, auferentur ex eis; morientur, et non in sapientia.](vulgate) 21 ׃4 הֲלֹא־נִסַּ֣ע יִתְרָ֣ם בָּ֑ם יָ֝מ֗וּתוּ וְלֹ֣א בְחָכְמָֽה׃ Job Job 4:21 und ihre Nachgelassenen vergehen und sterben auch unversehens.(dhs) Job 4:21 Does not their own excellence go away?
