Today's Date: ======= Jeremiah 10:1 ============ Jer 10:1 Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel.(nas) Jer 10:1 ἀκούσατε τὸν λόγον κυρίου ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς οἶκος Ισραηλ (lxx) Jer 10:1 [Audite verbum quod locutus est Dominus super vos, domus Israël.(vulgate) 1 ׃10 שִׁמְע֣וּ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:1 Höret, was der HERR zu euch vom Hause Israel redet.(dhs) Jer 10:1 Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:2 ============ Jer 10:2 Thus says the Lord, "Do not learn the way of the nations, And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens Although the nations are terrified by them;(nas) Jer 10:2 τάδε λέγει κύριος κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς τῶν ἐθνῶν μὴ μανθάνετε καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν σημείων τοῦ οὐρανοῦ μὴ φοβεῖσθε ὅτι φοβοῦνται αὐτὰ τοῖς προσώποις αὐτῶν (lxx) Jer 10:2 Hæc dicit Dominus: Juxta vias gentium nolite discere, et a signis cæli nolite metuere, quæ timent gentes,(vulgate) 2 ׃10 כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אֶל־דֶּ֤רֶךְ הַגּוֹיִם֙ אַל־תִּלְמָ֔דוּ וּמֵאֹת֥וֹת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם אַל־תֵּחָ֑תּוּ כִּֽי־יֵחַ֥תּוּ הַגּוֹיִ֖ם מֵהֵֽמָּה׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:2 So spricht der HERR: Ihr sollt nicht nach der Heiden Weise lernen und sollt euch nicht fürchten vor den Zeichen des Himmels, wie die Heiden sich fürchten.(dhs) Jer 10:2 Thus says the Lord: "Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:3 ============ Jer 10:3 For the customs of the peoples are delusion; Because it is wood cut from the forest, The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.(nas) Jer 10:3 ὅτι τὰ νόμιμα τῶν ἐθνῶν μάταια ξύλον ἐστὶν ἐκ τοῦ δρυμοῦ ἐκκεκομμένον ἔργον τέκτονος καὶ χώνευμα (lxx) Jer 10:3 quia leges populorum vanæ sunt. Quia lignum de saltu præcidit opus manus artificis in ascia:(vulgate) 3 ׃10 כִּֽי־חֻקּ֥וֹת הָֽעַמִּ֖ים הֶ֣בֶל ה֑וּא כִּֽי־עֵץ֙ מִיַּ֣עַר כְּרָת֔וֹ מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יְדֵ֥י־חָרָ֖שׁ בַּֽמַּעֲצָֽד׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:3 Denn der Heiden Satzungen sind lauter Nichts. Denn sie hauen im Walde einen Baum, und der Werkmeister macht Götter mit dem Beil(dhs) Jer 10:3 For the customs of the peoples are futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:4 ============ Jer 10:4 "They decorate it with silver and with gold; They fasten it with nails and with hammers So that it will not totter.(nas) Jer 10:4 ἀργυρίῳ καὶ χρυσίῳ κεκαλλωπισμένα ἐστίν ἐν σφύραις καὶ ἥλοις ἐστερέωσαν αὐτά καὶ οὐ κινηθήσονται (lxx) Jer 10:4 argento et auro decoravit illud: clavis et malleis compegit, ut non dissolvatur:(vulgate) 4 ׃10 בְּכֶ֥סֶף וּבְזָהָ֖ב יְיַפֵּ֑הוּ בְּמַסְמְר֧וֹת וּבְמַקָּב֛וֹת יְחַזְּק֖וּם וְל֥וֹא יָפִֽיק׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:4 und schmückt sie mit Silber und Gold und heftet sie mit Nägeln und Hämmern, daß sie nicht umfallen.(dhs) Jer 10:4 They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:5 ============ Jer 10:5 "Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot walk! Do not fear them, For they can do no harm, Nor can they do any good."(nas) Jer 10:5 αἰρόμενα ἀρθήσονται ὅτι οὐκ ἐπιβήσονται μὴ φοβηθῆτε αὐτά ὅτι οὐ μὴ κακοποιήσωσιν καὶ ἀγαθὸν οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐτοῖς (lxx) Jer 10:5 in similitudinem palmæ fabricata sunt, et non loquentur: portata tollentur, quia incedere non valent. Nolite ergo timere ea, quia nec male possunt facere, nec bene.(vulgate) 5 ׃10 כְּתֹ֨מֶר מִקְשָׁ֥ה הֵ֙מָּה֙ וְלֹ֣א יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ נָשׂ֥וֹא יִנָּשׂ֖וּא כִּ֣י לֹ֣א יִצְעָ֑דוּ אַל־תִּֽירְא֤וּ מֵהֶם֙ כִּי־לֹ֣א יָרֵ֔עוּ וְגַם־הֵיטֵ֖יב אֵ֥ין אוֹתָֽם׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 10:5 Es sind ja nichts als überzogene Säulen. Sie können nicht reden; so muß man sie auch tragen, denn sie können nicht gehen. Darum sollt ihr euch nicht vor ihnen fürchten: denn sie können weder helfen noch Schaden tun.(dhs) Jer 10:5 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:6 ============ Jer 10:6 There is none like You, O Lord; You are great, and great is Your name in might.(nas) Jer 10:6 -- (lxx) Jer 10:6 Non est similis tui, Domine: magnus es tu, et magnum nomen tuum in fortitudine.(vulgate) 6 ׃10 מֵאֵ֥ין כָּמ֖וֹךָ יְהוָ֑ה גָּד֥וֹל אַתָּ֛ה וְגָד֥וֹל שִׁמְךָ֖ בִּגְבוּרָֽה׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:6 Aber dir, HERR, ist niemand gleich; du bist groß, und dein Name ist groß, und kannst es mit der Tat beweisen.(dhs) Jer 10:6 Inasmuch as there is none like You, O Lord (You are great, and Your name is great in might),(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:7 ============ Jer 10:7 Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? Indeed it is Your due! For among all the wise men of the nations And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You.(nas) Jer 10:7 -- (lxx) Jer 10:7 Quis non timebit te, o Rex gentium? tuum est enim decus: inter cunctos sapientes gentium, et in universis regnis eorum, nullus est similis tui.(vulgate) 7 ׃10 מִ֣י לֹ֤א יִֽרָאֲךָ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם כִּ֥י לְךָ֖ יָאָ֑תָה כִּ֣י בְכָל־חַכְמֵ֧י הַגּוֹיִ֛ם וּבְכָל־מַלְכוּתָ֖ם מֵאֵ֥ין כָּמֽוֹךָ׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:7 Wer sollte dich nicht fürchten, du König der Heiden? Dir sollte man gehorchen; denn es ist unter allen Weisen der Heiden und in allen Königreichen deinesgleichen nicht.(dhs) Jer 10:7 Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For this is Your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations, And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:8 ============ Jer 10:8 But they are altogether stupid and foolish In their discipline of delusion - their idol is wood!(nas) Jer 10:8 -- (lxx) Jer 10:8 Pariter insipientes et fatui probabuntur: doctrina vanitatis eorum lignum est.(vulgate) 8 ׃10 וּבְאַחַ֖ת יִבְעֲר֣וּ וְיִכְסָ֑לוּ מוּסַ֥ר הֲבָלִ֖ים עֵ֥ץ הֽוּא׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:8 Sie sind allzumal Narren und Toren; denn ein Holz muß ja ein nichtiger Gottesdienst sein.(dhs) Jer 10:8 But they are altogether dull-hearted and foolish; A wooden idol is a worthless doctrine.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:9 ============ Jer 10:9 Beaten silver is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, The work of a craftsman and of the hands of a goldsmith; Violet and purple are their clothing; They are all the work of skilled men.(nas) Jer 10:9 ἀργύριον τορευτόν ἐστιν οὐ πορεύσονται ἀργύριον προσβλητὸν ἀπὸ Θαρσις ἥξει χρυσίον Μωφαζ καὶ χεὶρ χρυσοχόων ἔργα τεχνιτῶν πάντα ὑάκινθον καὶ πορφύραν ἐνδύσουσιν αὐτά (lxx) Jer 10:9 Argentum involutum de Tharsis affertur, et aurum de Ophaz: opus artificis et manus ærarii. Hyacinthus et purpura indumentum eorum: opus artificum universa hæc.(vulgate) 9 ׃10 כֶּ֣סֶף מְרֻקָּ֞ע מִתַּרְשִׁ֣ישׁ יוּבָ֗א וְזָהָב֙ מֵֽאוּפָ֔ז מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה חָרָ֖שׁ וִידֵ֣י צוֹרֵ֑ף תְּכֵ֤לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן֙ לְבוּשָׁ֔ם מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה חֲכָמִ֖ים כֻּלָּֽם׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:9 Silbernes Blech bringt man aus Tharsis, Gold aus Uphas, durch den Meister und Goldschmied zugerichtet; blauen und roten Purpur zieht man ihm an, und ist alles der Weisen Werk.(dhs) Jer 10:9 Silver is beaten into plates; It is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, The work of the craftsman And of the hands of the metalsmith; Blue and purple are their clothing; They are all the work of skillful men.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:10 ============ Jer 10:10 But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth quakes, And the nations cannot endure His indignation.(nas) Jer 10:10 -- (lxx) Jer 10:10 Dominus autem Deus verus est, ipse Deus vivens, et rex sempiternus. Ab indignatione ejus commovebitur terra, et non sustinebunt gentes comminationem ejus.(vulgate) 10 ׃10 וַֽיהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ אֱמֶ֔ת הֽוּא־אֱלֹהִ֥ים חַיִּ֖ים וּמֶ֣לֶךְ עוֹלָ֑ם מִקִּצְפּוֹ֙ תִּרְעַ֣שׁ הָאָ֔רֶץ וְלֹֽא־יָכִ֥לוּ גוֹיִ֖ם זַעְמֽוֹ׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 10:10 Aber der HERR ist ein rechter Gott, ein lebendiger Gott, ein ewiger König. Vor seinem Zorn bebt die Erde, und die Heiden können sein Drohen nicht ertragen.(dhs) Jer 10:10 But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth will tremble, And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:11 ============ Jer 10:11 Thus you shall say to them," The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under the heavens."(nas) Jer 10:11 οὕτως ἐρεῖτε αὐτοῖς θεοί οἳ τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν οὐκ ἐποίησαν ἀπολέσθωσαν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὑποκάτωθεν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τούτου (lxx) Jer 10:11 Sic ergo dicetis eis: Dii qui cælos et terram non fecerunt, pereant de terra et de his quæ sub cælo sunt!(vulgate) 11 ׃10 כִּדְנָה֙ תֵּאמְר֣וּן לְה֔וֹם אֱלָ֣הַיָּ֔א דִּֽי־שְׁמַיָּ֥א וְאַרְקָ֖א לָ֣א עֲבַ֑דוּ יֵאבַ֧דוּ מֵֽאַרְעָ֛א וּמִן־תְּח֥וֹת שְׁמַיָּ֖א אֵֽלֶּה׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 10:11 So sprecht nun zu ihnen also: Die Götter, die Himmel und Erde nicht gemacht haben, müssen vertilgt werden von der Erde und unter dem Himmel.(dhs) Jer 10:11 Thus you shall say to them: "The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:12 ============ Jer 10:12 It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.(nas) Jer 10:12 κύριος ὁ ποιήσας τὴν γῆν ἐν τῇ ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ ὁ ἀνορθώσας τὴν οἰκουμένην ἐν τῇ σοφίᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ τῇ φρονήσει αὐτοῦ ἐξέτεινεν τὸν οὐρανὸν (lxx) Jer 10:12 Qui facit terram in fortitudine sua, præparat orbem in sapientia sua, et prudentia sua extendit cælos:(vulgate) 12 ׃10 עֹשֵׂ֥ה אֶ֙רֶץ֙ בְּכֹח֔וֹ מֵכִ֥ין תֵּבֵ֖ל בְּחָכְמָת֑וֹ וּבִתְבוּנָת֖וֹ נָטָ֥ה שָׁמָֽיִם׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:12 Er hat aber die Erde durch seine Kraft gemacht und den Weltkreis bereitet durch seine Weisheit und den Himmel ausgebreitet durch seinen Verstand.(dhs) Jer 10:12 He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, And has stretched out the heavens at His discretion.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:13 ============ Jer 10:13 When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, And brings out the wind from His storehouses.(nas) Jer 10:13 καὶ πλῆθος ὕδατος ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἀνήγαγεν νεφέλας ἐξ ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς ἀστραπὰς εἰς ὑετὸν ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐξήγαγεν φῶς ἐκ θησαυρῶν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Jer 10:13 ad vocem suam dat multitudinem aquarum in cælo, et elevat nebulas ab extremitatibus terræ: fulgura in pluviam facit, et educit ventum de thesauris suis.(vulgate) 13 ׃10 לְק֨וֹל תִּתּ֜וֹ הֲמ֥וֹן מַ֙יִם֙ בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיַּעֲלֶ֥ה נְשִׂאִ֖ים מִקְצֵ֣ה *ארץ **הָאָ֑רֶץ בְּרָקִ֤ים לַמָּטָר֙ עָשָׂ֔ה וַיּ֥וֹצֵא ר֖וּחַ מֵאֹצְרֹתָֽיו׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:13 Wenn er donnert, so ist des Wassers die Menge unter dem Himmel, und er zieht die Nebel auf vom Ende der Erde; er macht die Blitze im Regen und läßt den Wind kommen aus seinen Vorratskammern.(dhs) Jer 10:13 When He utters His voice, There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: "And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:14 ============ Jer 10:14 Every man is stupid, devoid of knowledge; Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols; For his molten images are deceitful, And there is no breath in them.(nas) Jer 10:14 ἐμωράνθη πᾶς ἄνθρωπος ἀπὸ γνώσεως κατῃσχύνθη πᾶς χρυσοχόος ἐπὶ τοῖς γλυπτοῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι ψευδῆ ἐχώνευσαν οὐκ ἔστιν πνεῦμα ἐν αὐτοῖς (lxx) Jer 10:14 Stultus factus est omnis homo a scientia: confusus est artifex omnis in sculptili, quoniam falsum est quod conflavit, et non est spiritus in eis.(vulgate) 14 ׃10 נִבְעַ֤ר כָּל־אָדָם֙ מִדַּ֔עַת הֹבִ֥ישׁ כָּל־צוֹרֵ֖ף מִפָּ֑סֶל כִּ֛י שֶׁ֥קֶר נִסְכּ֖וֹ וְלֹא־ר֥וּחַ בָּֽם׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:14 Alle Menschen sind Narren mit ihrer Kunst, und alle Goldschmiede bestehen mit Schanden mit ihren Bildern; denn ihre Götzen sind Trügerei und haben kein Leben.(dhs) Jer 10:14 Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge; Every metalsmith is put to shame by an image; For his molded image is falsehood, And there is no breath in them.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:15 ============ Jer 10:15 They are worthless, a work of mockery; In the time of their punishment they will perish.(nas) Jer 10:15 μάταιά ἐστιν ἔργα ἐμπεπαιγμένα ἐν καιρῷ ἐπισκοπῆς αὐτῶν ἀπολοῦνται (lxx) Jer 10:15 Vana sunt, et opus risu dignum: in tempore visitationis suæ peribunt.(vulgate) 15 ׃10 הֶ֣בֶל הֵ֔מָּה מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה תַּעְתֻּעִ֑ים בְּעֵ֥ת פְּקֻדָּתָ֖ם יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:15 Es ist eitel Nichts und ein verführerisches Werk; sie müssen umkommen, wenn sie heimgesucht werden.(dhs) Jer 10:15 They are futile, a work of errors; In the time of their punishment they shall perish.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:16 ============ Jer 10:16 The portion of Jacob is not like these; For the Maker of all is He, And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; The Lord of hosts is His name.(nas) Jer 10:16 οὐκ ἔστιν τοιαύτη μερὶς τῷ Ιακωβ ὅτι ὁ πλάσας τὰ πάντα αὐτὸς κληρονομία αὐτοῦ κύριος ὄνομα αὐτῷ (lxx) Jer 10:16 Non est his similis pars Jacob: qui enim formavit omnia, ipse est, et Israël virga hæreditatis ejus: Dominus exercituum nomen illi.(vulgate) 16 ׃10 לֹֽא־כְאֵ֜לֶּה חֵ֣לֶק יַעֲקֹ֗ב כִּֽי־יוֹצֵ֤ר הַכֹּל֙ ה֔וּא וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל שֵׁ֖בֶט נַֽחֲלָת֑וֹ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 10:16 Aber also ist der nicht, der Jakobs Schatz ist; sondern er ist's, der alles geschaffen hat, und Israel ist sein Erbteil. Er heißt HERR Zebaoth.(dhs) Jer 10:16 The Portion of Jacob is not like them, For He is the Maker of all things, And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; The Lord of hosts is His name.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:17 ============ Jer 10:17 Pick up your bundle from the ground, You who dwell under siege!(nas) Jer 10:17 συνήγαγεν ἔξωθεν τὴν ὑπόστασίν σου κατοικοῦσα ἐν ἐκλεκτοῖς (lxx) Jer 10:17 Congrega de terra confusionem tuam, quæ habitas in obsidione:(vulgate) 17 ׃10 אִסְפִּ֥י מֵאֶ֖רֶץ כִּנְעָתֵ֑ךְ *ישבתי **יֹשֶׁ֖בֶת בַּמָּצֽוֹר׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 10:17 Tue deinen Kram weg aus dem Lande, die du wohnest in der Feste.(dhs) Jer 10:17 Gather up your wares from the land, O inhabitant of the fortress!(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:18 ============ Jer 10:18 For thus says the Lord, "Behold, I am slinging out the inhabitants of the land At this time, And will cause them distress, That they may be found."(nas) Jer 10:18 ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ σκελίζω τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν γῆν ταύτην ἐν θλίψει ὅπως εὑρεθῇ ἡ πληγή σου (lxx) Jer 10:18 quia hæc dicit Dominus: Ecce ego longe projiciam habitatores terræ in hac vice, et tribulabo eos ita ut inveniantur.(vulgate) 18 ׃10 כִּֽי־כֹה֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י קוֹלֵ֛עַ אֶת־יוֹשְׁבֵ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ בַּפַּ֣עַם הַזֹּ֑את וַהֲצֵר֥וֹתִי לָהֶ֖ם לְמַ֥עַן יִמְצָֽאוּ׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 10:18 Denn so spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will die Einwohner des Landes auf diesmal wegschleudern und will sie ängsten, daß sie es fühlen sollen.(dhs) Jer 10:18 For thus says the Lord: "Behold, I will throw out at this time The inhabitants of the land, And will distress them, That they may find it so."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:19 ============ Jer 10:19 Woe is me, because of my injury! My wound is incurable. But I said, "Truly this is a sickness, And I must bear it."(nas) Jer 10:19 οὐαὶ ἐπὶ συντρίμματί σου ἀλγηρὰ ἡ πληγή σου κἀγὼ εἶπα ὄντως τοῦτο τὸ τραῦμά μου καὶ κατέλαβέν με (lxx) Jer 10:19 Væ mihi super contritione mea: pessima plaga mea. Ego autem dixi: Plane hæc infirmitas mea est, et portabo illam.(vulgate) 19 ׃10 א֥וֹי לִי֙ עַל־שִׁבְרִ֔י נַחְלָ֖ה מַכָּתִ֑י וַאֲנִ֣י אָמַ֔רְתִּי אַ֛ךְ זֶ֥ה חֳלִ֖י וְאֶשָּׂאֶֽנּוּ׃ Jeremiah Jer 10:19 Ach mein Jammer und mein Herzeleid! Ich denke aber: Es ist meine Plage; ich muß sie leiden.(dhs) Jer 10:19 Woe is me for my hurt! My wound is severe. But I say, "Truly this is an infirmity, And I must bear it."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 10:20 ============ Jer 10:20 My tent is destroyed, And all my ropes are broken; My sons have gone from me and are no more.
