Today's Date: ======= Jeremiah 8:1 ============ Jer 8:1 "At that time," declares the Lord, "they will bring out the bones of the kings of Judah and the bones of its princes, and the bones of the priests and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem from their graves.(nas) Jer 8:1 ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ λέγει κύριος ἐξοίσουσιν τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν βασιλέων Ιουδα καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν ἀρχόντων αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν ἱερέων καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν προφητῶν καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν κατοικούντων Ιερουσαλημ ἐκ τῶν τάφων αὐτῶν (lxx) Jer 8:1 [In illo tempore, ait Dominus, ejicient ossa regum Juda, et ossa principum ejus, et ossa sacerdotum, et ossa prophetarum, et ossa eorum qui habitaverunt Jerusalem, de sepulchris suis:(vulgate) 1 ׃8 בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֣יא נְאֻם־יְהוָ֡ה *ויציאו **יוֹצִ֣יאוּ אֶת־עַצְמ֣וֹת מַלְכֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֣ה וְאֶת־עַצְמוֹת־שָׂרָיו֩ וְאֶת־עַצְמ֨וֹת הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים וְאֵ֣ת ׀ עַצְמ֣וֹת הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים וְאֵ֛ת עַצְמ֥וֹת יוֹשְׁבֵֽי־יְרוּשָׁלָ֖͏ִם מִקִּבְרֵיהֶֽם׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:1 Zu derselben Zeit, spricht der HERR, wird man die Gebeine der Könige Juda's, die Gebeine ihrer Fürsten, die Gebeine der Priester, die Gebeine der Propheten, die Gebeine der Bürger zu Jerusalem aus ihren Gräbern werfen;(dhs) Jer 8:1 "At that time," says the Lord, "they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of its princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:2 ============ Jer 8:2 They will spread them out to the sun, the moon and to all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served, and which they have gone after and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered or buried; they will be as dung on the face of the ground.(nas) Jer 8:2 καὶ ψύξουσιν αὐτὰ πρὸς τὸν ἥλιον καὶ τὴν σελήνην καὶ πρὸς πάντας τοὺς ἀστέρας καὶ πρὸς πᾶσαν τὴν στρατιὰν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἃ ἠγάπησαν καὶ οἷς ἐδούλευσαν καὶ ὧν ἐπορεύθησαν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν καὶ ὧν ἀντείχοντο καὶ οἷς προσεκύνησαν αὐτοῖς οὐ κοπήσονται καὶ οὐ ταφήσονται καὶ ἔσονται εἰς παράδειγμα ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς (lxx) Jer 8:2 et expandent ea ad solem, et lunam, et omnem militiam cæli, quæ dilexerunt, et quibus servierunt, et post quæ ambulaverunt, et quæ quæsierunt, et adoraverunt. Non colligentur, et non sepelientur: in sterquilinium super faciem terræ erunt.(vulgate) 2 ׃8 וּשְׁטָחוּם֩ לַשֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ וְלַיָּרֵ֜חַ וּלְכֹ֣ל ׀ צְבָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֲהֵב֜וּם וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר עֲבָדוּם֙ וַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ הָלְכ֣וּ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֔ם וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר דְּרָשׁ֔וּם וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר הִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ לָהֶ֑ם לֹ֤א יֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א יִקָּבֵ֔רוּ לְדֹ֛מֶן עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָ֖ה יִֽהְיֽוּ׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:2 und wird sie hinstreuen unter Sonne, Mond und alles Heer des Himmels, welche sie geliebt und denen sie gedient haben, denen sie nachgefolgt sind und die sie gesucht und angebetet haben. Sie sollen nicht wieder aufgelesen und begraben werden, sondern Kot auf der Erde sein.(dhs) Jer 8:2 They shall spread them before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served and after which they have walked, which they have sought and which they have worshiped. They shall not be gathered nor buried; they shall be like refuse on the face of the earth.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:3 ============ Jer 8:3 And death will be chosen rather than life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family, that remains in all the places to which I have driven them," declares the Lord of hosts.(nas) Jer 8:3 ὅτι εἵλοντο τὸν θάνατον ἢ τὴν ζωήν καὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς καταλοίποις τοῖς καταλειφθεῖσιν ἀπὸ τῆς γενεᾶς ἐκείνης ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ οὗ ἐὰν ἐξώσω αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ (lxx) Jer 8:3 Et eligent magis mortem quam vitam, omnes qui residui fuerint de cognatione hac pessima, in universis locis quæ derelicta sunt, ad quæ ejeci eos, dicit Dominus exercituum.]~(vulgate) 3 ׃8 וְנִבְחַ֥ר מָ֙וֶת֙ מֵֽחַיִּ֔ים לְכֹ֗ל הַשְּׁאֵרִית֙ הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֔ים מִן־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה הָֽרָעָ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את בְּכָל־הַמְּקֹמ֤וֹת הַנִּשְׁאָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִדַּחְתִּ֣ים שָׁ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 8:3 Und alle übrigen von diesem bösen Volk, an welchen Ort sie sein werden, dahin ich sie verstoßen habe, werden lieber tot als lebendig sein wollen, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.(dhs) Jer 8:3 Then death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of those who remain of this evil family, who remain in all the places where I have driven them," says the Lord of hosts.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:4 ============ Jer 8:4 "You shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord, "Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not repent?(nas) Jer 8:4 ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος μὴ ὁ πίπτων οὐκ ἀνίσταται ἢ ὁ ἀποστρέφων οὐκ ἐπιστρέφει (lxx) Jer 8:4 Et dices ad eos: [Hæc dicit Dominus: Numquid qui cadit non resurget? et qui aversus est non revertetur?(vulgate) 4 ׃8 וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הֲיִפְּל֖וּ וְלֹ֣א יָק֑וּמוּ אִם־יָשׁ֖וּב וְלֹ֥א יָשֽׁוּב׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:4 Darum sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR: Wo ist jemand, so er fällt, der nicht gerne wieder aufstünde? Wo ist jemand, so er irregeht, der nicht gerne wieder zurechtkäme?(dhs) Jer 8:4 "Moreover you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord: "Will they fall and not rise? Will one turn away and not return?(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:5 ============ Jer 8:5 "Why then has this people, Jerusalem, Turned away in continual apostasy? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return.(nas) Jer 8:5 διὰ τί ἀπέστρεψεν ὁ λαός μου οὗτος ἀποστροφὴν ἀναιδῆ καὶ κατεκρατήθησαν ἐν τῇ προαιρέσει αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι (lxx) Jer 8:5 Quare ergo aversus est populus iste in Jerusalem aversione contentiosa? Apprehenderunt mendacium, et noluerunt reverti.(vulgate) 5 ׃8 מַדּ֨וּעַ שׁוֹבְבָ֜ה הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֛ה יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם מְשֻׁבָ֣ה נִצַּ֑חַת הֶחֱזִ֙יקוּ֙ בַּתַּרְמִ֔ית מֵאֲנ֖וּ לָשֽׁוּב׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:5 Dennoch will dies Volk zu Jerusalem irregehen für und für. Sie halten so hart an dem falschen Gottesdienst, daß sie sich nicht wollen abwenden lassen.(dhs) Jer 8:5 Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:6 ============ Jer 8:6 "I have listened and heard, They have spoken what is not right; No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, 'What have I done? 'Everyone turned to his course, Like a horse charging into the battle.(nas) Jer 8:6 ἐνωτίσασθε δὴ καὶ ἀκούσατε οὐχ οὕτως λαλήσουσιν οὐκ ἔστιν ἄνθρωπος μετανοῶν ἀπὸ τῆς κακίας αὐτοῦ λέγων τί ἐποίησα διέλιπεν ὁ τρέχων ἀπὸ τοῦ δρόμου αὐτοῦ ὡς ἵππος κάθιδρος ἐν χρεμετισμῷ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Jer 8:6 Attendi, et auscultavi: nemo quod bonum est loquitur; nullus est qui agat pœnitentiam super peccato suo, dicens: Quid feci? Omnes conversi sunt ad cursum suum, quasi equus impetu vadens ad prælium.(vulgate) 6 ׃8 הִקְשַׁ֤בְתִּי וָֽאֶשְׁמָע֙ לוֹא־כֵ֣ן יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ אֵ֣ין אִ֗ישׁ נִחָם֙ עַל־רָ֣עָת֔וֹ לֵאמֹ֖ר מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֑יתִי כֻּלֹּ֗ה שָׁ֚ב *במרצותם **בִּמְר֣וּצָתָ֔ם כְּס֥וּס שׁוֹטֵ֖ף בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:6 Ich sehe und höre, daß sie nichts Rechtes reden. Keiner ist, dem seine Bosheit Leid wäre und der spräche: Was mache ich doch! Sie laufen alle ihren Lauf wie ein grimmiger Hengst im Streit.(dhs) Jer 8:6 I listened and heard, But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, 'What have I done?' Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:7 ============ Jer 8:7 "Even the stork in the sky Knows her seasons; And the turtledove and the swift and the thrush Observe the time of their migration; But My people do not know The ordinance of the Lord.(nas) Jer 8:7 καὶ ἡ ασιδα ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ ἔγνω τὸν καιρὸν αὐτῆς τρυγὼν καὶ χελιδών ἀγροῦ στρουθία ἐφύλαξαν καιροὺς εἰσόδων αὐτῶν ὁ δὲ λαός μου οὐκ ἔγνω τὰ κρίματα κυρίου (lxx) Jer 8:7 Milvus in cælo cognovit tempus suum: turtur, et hirundo, et ciconia custodierunt tempus adventus sui: populus autem meus non cognovit judicium Domini.(vulgate) 7 ׃8 גַּם־חֲסִידָ֣ה בַשָּׁמַ֗יִם יָֽדְעָה֙ מֽוֹעֲדֶ֔יהָ וְתֹ֤ר *וסוס **וְסִיס֙ וְעָג֔[t]וּר שָׁמְר֖וּ אֶת־עֵ֣ת בֹּאָ֑נָה וְעַמִּ֕י לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ אֵ֖ת מִשְׁפַּ֥ט יְהוָֽה׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:7 Ein Storch unter dem Himmel weiß seine Zeit, eine Turteltaube, Kranich und Schwalbe merken ihre Zeit, wann sie wiederkommen sollen, aber mein Volk will das Recht des HERRN nicht wissen.(dhs) Jer 8:7 "Even the stork in the heavens Knows her appointed times; And the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow Observe the time of their coming. But My people do not know the judgment of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:8 ============ Jer 8:8 "How can you say, 'We are wise, And the law of the Lord is with us'? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes Has made it into a lie.(nas) Jer 8:8 πῶς ἐρεῖτε ὅτι σοφοί ἐσμεν ἡμεῖς καὶ νόμος κυρίου ἐστὶν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν εἰς μάτην ἐγενήθη σχοῖνος ψευδὴς γραμματεῦσιν (lxx) Jer 8:8 Quomodo dicitis: Sapientes nos sumus, et lex Domini nobiscum est? vere mendacium operatus est stylus mendax scribarum!(vulgate) 8 ׃8 אֵיכָ֤ה תֹֽאמְרוּ֙ חֲכָמִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ וְתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה אִתָּ֑נוּ אָכֵן֙ הִנֵּ֣ה לַשֶּׁ֣קֶר עָשָׂ֔ה עֵ֖ט שֶׁ֥קֶר סֹפְרִֽים׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:8 Wie mögt ihr doch sagen: "Wir wissen, was recht ist, und haben die heilige Schrift vor uns"? Ist's doch eitel Lüge, was die Schriftgelehrten setzen.(dhs) Jer 8:8 "How can you say, 'We are wise, And the law of the Lord is with us'? Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:9 ============ Jer 8:9 "The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, And what kind of wisdom do they have?(nas) Jer 8:9 ᾐσχύνθησαν σοφοὶ καὶ ἐπτοήθησαν καὶ ἑάλωσαν ὅτι τὸν λόγον κυρίου ἀπεδοκίμασαν σοφία τίς ἐστιν ἐν αὐτοῖς (lxx) Jer 8:9 Confusi sunt sapientes; perterriti et capti sunt: verbum enim Domini projecerunt, et sapientia nulla est in eis.(vulgate) 9 ׃8 הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ חֲכָמִ֔ים חַ֖תּוּ וַיִּלָּכֵ֑דוּ הִנֵּ֤ה בִדְבַר־יְהוָה֙ מָאָ֔סוּ וְחָכְמַֽת־מֶ֖ה לָהֶֽם׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 8:9 Darum müssen solche Lehrer zu Schanden, erschreckt und gefangen werden; denn was können sie Gutes lehren, weil sie des HERRN Wort verwerfen?(dhs) Jer 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, They are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord; So what wisdom do they have?(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:10 ============ Jer 8:10 "Therefore I will give their wives to others, Their fields to new owners; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is greedy for gain; From the prophet even to the priest Everyone practices deceit.(nas) Jer 8:10 διὰ τοῦτο δώσω τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν ἑτέροις καὶ τοὺς ἀγροὺς αὐτῶν τοῖς κληρονόμοις (lxx) Jer 8:10 Propterea dabo mulieres eorum exteris, agros eorum hæredibus, quia a minimo usque ad maximum omnes avaritiam sequuntur: a propheta usque ad sacerdotem cuncti faciunt mendacium.(vulgate) 10 ׃8 לָכֵן֩ אֶתֵּ֨ן אֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶ֜ם לַאֲחֵרִ֗ים שְׂדֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ לְי֣וֹרְשִׁ֔ים כִּ֤י מִקָּטֹן֙ וְעַד־גָּד֔וֹל כֻּלֹּ֖ה בֹּצֵ֣עַ בָּ֑צַע מִנָּבִיא֙ וְעַד־כֹּהֵ֔ן כֻּלֹּ֖ה עֹ֥שֶׂה שָּֽׁקֶר׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:10 Darum will ich ihre Weiber den Fremden geben und ihre Äcker denen, die sie verjagen werden. Denn sie geizen allesamt, beide, klein und groß; und beide, Priester und Propheten, gehen mit Lügen um(dhs) Jer 8:10 Therefore I will give their wives to others, And their fields to those who will inherit them; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is given to covetousness; From the prophet even to the priest Everyone deals falsely.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:11 ============ Jer 8:11 "They heal the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially, Saying, 'Peace, peace, 'But there is no peace.(nas) Jer 8:11 -- (lxx) Jer 8:11 Et sanabant contritionem filiæ populi mei ad ignominiam, dicentes: Pax, pax! cum non esset pax.(vulgate) 11 ׃8 וַיְרַפּ֞וּ אֶת־שֶׁ֤בֶר בַּת־עַמִּי֙ עַל־נְקַלָּ֔ה לֵאמֹ֖ר שָׁל֣וֹם ׀ שָׁל֑וֹם וְאֵ֖ין שָׁלֽוֹם׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:11 und trösten mein Volk in ihrem Unglück, daß sie es gering achten sollen, und sagen: "Friede! Friede!", und ist doch nicht Friede.(dhs) Jer 8:11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of My people slightly, Saying, 'Peace, peace!' When there is no peace.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:12 ============ Jer 8:12 "Were they ashamed because of the abomination they had done? They certainly were not ashamed, And they did not know how to blush; Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time of their punishment they shall be brought down," Says the Lord.(nas) Jer 8:12 (listed as 23) τίς δώσει κεφαλῇ μου ὕδωρ καὶ ὀφθαλμοῖς μου πηγὴν δακρύων καὶ κλαύσομαι τὸν λαόν μου τοῦτον ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός τοὺς τετραυματισμένους θυγατρὸς λαοῦ μου (lxx) Jer 8:12 Confusi sunt, quia abominationem fecerunt: quinimmo confusione non sunt confusi, et erubescere nescierunt. Idcirco cadent inter corruentes: in tempore visitationis suæ corruent, dicit Dominus.(vulgate) 12 ׃8 הֹבִ֕שׁוּ כִּ֥י תוֹעֵבָ֖ה עָשׂ֑וּ גַּם־בּ֣וֹשׁ לֹֽא־יֵבֹ֗שׁוּ וְהִכָּלֵם֙ לֹ֣א יָדָ֔עוּ לָכֵ֞ן יִפְּל֣וּ בַנֹּפְלִ֗ים בְּעֵ֧ת פְּקֻדָּתָ֛ם יִכָּשְׁל֖וּ אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 8:12 Darum werden sie mit Schanden bestehen, daß sie solche Greuel treiben; wiewohl sie wollen ungeschändet sein und wollen sich nicht schämen. Darum müssen sie fallen auf einen Haufen; und wenn ich sie heimsuchen werde, sollen sie stürzen, spricht der HERR.(dhs) Jer 8:12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed, Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; In the time of their punishment They shall be cast down," says the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:13 ============ Jer 8:13 "I will surely snatch them away," declares the Lord; "There will be no grapes on the vine And no figs on the fig tree, And the leaf will wither; And what I have given them will pass away."'"(nas) Jer 8:13 καὶ συνάξουσιν τὰ γενήματα αὐτῶν λέγει κύριος οὐκ ἔστιν σταφυλὴ ἐν ταῖς ἀμπέλοις καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν σῦκα ἐν ταῖς συκαῖς καὶ τὰ φύλλα κατερρύηκεν (lxx) Jer 8:13 Congregans congregabo eos, ait Dominus. Non est uva in vitibus, et non sunt ficus in ficulnea: folium defluxit, et dedi eis quæ prætergressa sunt.(vulgate) 13 ׃8 אָסֹ֥ף אֲסִיפֵ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֑ה אֵין֩ עֲנָבִ֨ים בַּגֶּ֜פֶן וְאֵ֧ין תְּאֵנִ֣ים בַּתְּאֵנָ֗ה וְהֶֽעָלֶה֙ נָבֵ֔ל וָאֶתֵּ֥ן לָהֶ֖ם יַעַבְרֽוּם׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:13 Ich will sie also ablesen, spricht der HERR, daß keine Trauben am Weinstock und keine Feigen am Feigenbaum bleiben, ja auch die Blätter wegfallen sollen; und was ich ihnen gegeben habe, das soll ihnen genommen werden.(dhs) Jer 8:13 "I will surely consume them," says the Lord. "No grapes shall be on the vine, Nor figs on the fig tree, And the leaf shall fade; And the things I have given them shall pass away from them." ' "(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 8:14 ============ Jer 8:14 Why are we sitting still? Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities And let us perish there, Because the Lord our God has doomed us And given us poisoned water to drink, For we have sinned against the Lord.(nas) Jer 8:14 ἐπὶ τί ἡμεῖς καθήμεθα συνάχθητε καὶ εἰσέλθωμεν εἰς τὰς πόλεις τὰς ὀχυρὰς καὶ ἀπορριφῶμεν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ἀπέρριψεν ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐπότισεν ἡμᾶς ὕδωρ χολῆς ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ (lxx) Jer 8:14 Quare sedemus? convenite, et ingrediamur civitatem munitam, et sileamus ibi: quia Dominus Deus noster silere nos fecit, et potum dedit nobis aquam fellis: peccavimus enim Domino.(vulgate) 14 ׃8 עַל־מָה֙ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ יֹֽשְׁבִ֔ים הֵֽאָסְפ֗וּ וְנָב֛וֹא אֶל־עָרֵ֥י הַמִּבְצָ֖ר וְנִדְּמָה־שָּׁ֑ם כִּי֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֤ינוּ הֲדִמָּ֙נוּ֙ וַיַּשְׁקֵ֣נוּ מֵי־רֹ֔אשׁ כִּ֥י חָטָ֖אנוּ לַיהוָֽה׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:14 Wo werden wir dann wohnen? Ja, sammelt euch dann und laßt uns in die festen Städte ziehen, daß wir daselbst umkommen. Denn der HERR, unser Gott, wird uns umkommen lassen und tränken mit einem bitteren Trunk, daß wir so gesündigt haben wider den HERRN.(dhs) Jer 8:14 "Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, And let us enter the fortified cities, And let us be silent there.
