intuere et respice opprobrium nostrum.(vulgate) 1 ׃5 זְכֹ֤ר יְהוָה֙ מֶֽה־הָ֣יָה לָ֔נוּ *הביט **הַבִּ֖יטָה וּרְאֵ֥ה אֶת־חֶרְפָּתֵֽנוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:1 Gedenke, HERR, wie es uns geht; schaue und siehe an unsre Schmach!(dhs) Lam 5:1 Remember, O Lord, what has come upon us; Look, and behold our reproach!(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:2 ============ Lam 5:2 Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, Our houses to aliens.(nas) Lam 5:2 κληρονομία ἡμῶν μετεστράφη ἀλλοτρίοις οἱ οἶκοι ἡμῶν ξένοις (lxx) Lam 5:2 Hæreditas nostra versa est ad alienos, domus nostræ ad extraneos.(vulgate) 2 ׃5 נַחֲלָתֵ֙נוּ֙ נֶֽהֶפְכָ֣ה לְזָרִ֔ים בָּתֵּ֖ינוּ לְנָכְרִֽים׃ Lamentations Lam 5:2 Unser Erbe ist den Fremden zuteil geworden und unsre Häuser den Ausländern.(dhs) Lam 5:2 Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens, And our houses to foreigners.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:3 ============ Lam 5:3 We have become orphans without a father, Our mothers are like widows.(nas) Lam 5:3 ὀρφανοὶ ἐγενήθημεν οὐχ ὑπάρχει πατήρ μητέρες ἡμῶν ὡς αἱ χῆραι (lxx) Lam 5:3 Pupilli facti sumus absque patre, matres nostræ quasi viduæ.(vulgate) 3 ׃5 יְתוֹמִ֤ים הָיִ֙ינוּ֙ *אין **וְאֵ֣ין אָ֔ב אִמֹּתֵ֖ינוּ כְּאַלְמָנֽוֹת׃ Lamentations Lam 5:3 Wir sind Waisen und haben keinen Vater; unsre Mütter sind Witwen.(dhs) Lam 5:3 We have become orphans and waifs, Our mothers are like widows.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:4 ============ Lam 5:4 We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.(nas) Lam 5:4 ἐξ ἡμερῶν ἡμῶν ξύλα ἡμῶν ἐν ἀλλάγματι ἦλθεν (lxx) Lam 5:4 Aquam nostram pecunia bibimus; ligna nostra pretio comparavimus.(vulgate) 4 ׃5 מֵימֵ֙ינוּ֙ בְּכֶ֣סֶף שָׁתִ֔ינוּ עֵצֵ֖ינוּ בִּמְחִ֥יר יָבֹֽאוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:4 Unser Wasser müssen wir um Geld trinken; unser Holz muß man bezahlt bringen lassen.(dhs) Lam 5:4 We pay for the water we drink, And our wood comes at a price.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:5 ============ Lam 5:5 Our pursuers are at our necks; We are worn out, there is no rest for us.(nas) Lam 5:5 ἐπὶ τὸν τράχηλον ἡμῶν ἐδιώχθημεν ἐκοπιάσαμεν οὐκ ἀνεπαύθημεν (lxx) Lam 5:5 Cervicibus nostris minabamur, lassis non dabatur requies.(vulgate) 5 ׃5 עַ֤ל צַוָּארֵ֙נוּ֙ נִרְדָּ֔פְנוּ יָגַ֖עְנוּ *לא **וְלֹ֥א הֽוּנַ֖ח לָֽנוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:5 Man treibt uns über Hals; und wenn wir schon müde sind, läßt man uns doch keine Ruhe.(dhs) Lam 5:5 They pursue at our heels; We labor and have no rest.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:6 ============ Lam 5:6 We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.(nas) Lam 5:6 Αἴγυπτος ἔδωκεν χεῖρα Ασσουρ εἰς πλησμονὴν αὐτῶν (lxx) Lam 5:6 Ægypto dedimus manum et Assyriis, ut saturaremur pane.(vulgate) 6 ׃5 מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ נָתַ֣נּוּ יָ֔ד אַשּׁ֖וּר לִשְׂבֹּ֥עַֽ לָֽחֶם׃ Lamentations Lam 5:6 Wir haben uns müssen Ägypten und Assur ergeben, auf daß wir Brot satt zu essen haben.(dhs) Lam 5:6 We have given our hand to the Egyptians And the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:7 ============ Lam 5:7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more; It is we who have borne their iniquities.(nas) Lam 5:7 οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἥμαρτον οὐχ ὑπάρχουσιν ἡμεῖς τὰ ἀνομήματα αὐτῶν ὑπέσχομεν (lxx) Lam 5:7 Patres nostri peccaverunt, et non sunt: et nos iniquitates eorum portavimus.(vulgate) 7 ׃5 אֲבֹתֵ֤ינוּ חָֽטְאוּ֙ *אינם **וְאֵינָ֔ם *אנחנו **וַאֲנַ֖חְנוּ עֲוֺנֹתֵיהֶ֥ם סָבָֽלְנוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:7 Unsre Väter haben gesündigt und sind nicht mehr vorhanden, und wir müssen ihre Missetaten entgelten.(dhs) Lam 5:7 Our fathers sinned and are no more, But we bear their iniquities.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:8 ============ Lam 5:8 Slaves rule over us; There is no one to deliver us from their hand.(nas) Lam 5:8 δοῦλοι ἐκυρίευσαν ἡμῶν λυτρούμενος οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν (lxx) Lam 5:8 Servi dominati sunt nostri: non fuit qui redimeret de manu eorum.(vulgate) 8 ׃5 עֲבָדִים֙ מָ֣שְׁלוּ בָ֔נוּ פֹּרֵ֖ק אֵ֥ין מִיָּדָֽם׃ Lamentations Lam 5:8 Knechte herrschen über uns, und ist niemand, der uns von ihrer Hand errette.(dhs) Lam 5:8 Servants rule over us; There is none to deliver us from their hand.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:9 ============ Lam 5:9 We get our bread at the risk of our lives Because of the sword in the wilderness.(nas) Lam 5:9 ἐν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡμῶν εἰσοίσομεν ἄρτον ἡμῶν ἀπὸ προσώπου ῥομφαίας τῆς ἐρήμου (lxx) Lam 5:9 In animabus nostris afferebamus panem nobis, a facie gladii in deserto.(vulgate) 9 ׃5 בְּנַפְשֵׁ֙נוּ֙ נָבִ֣יא לַחְמֵ֔נוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י חֶ֥רֶב הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ Lamentations Lam 5:9 Wir müssen unser Brot mit Gefahr unsers Lebens holen vor dem Schwert in der Wüste.(dhs) Lam 5:9 We get our bread at the risk of our lives, Because of the sword in the wilderness.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:10 ============ Lam 5:10 Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine.(nas) Lam 5:10 τὸ δέρμα ἡμῶν ὡς κλίβανος ἐπελειώθη συνεσπάσθησαν ἀπὸ προσώπου καταιγίδων λιμοῦ (lxx) Lam 5:10 Pellis nostra quasi clibanus exusta est, a facie tempestatum famis.(vulgate) 10 ׃5 עוֹרֵ֙נוּ֙ כְּתַנּ֣וּר נִכְמָ֔רוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י זַלְעֲפ֥וֹת רָעָֽב׃ Lamentations Lam 5:10 Unsre Haut ist verbrannt wie in einem Ofen vor dem greulichen Hunger.(dhs) Lam 5:10 Our skin is hot as an oven, Because of the fever of famine.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:11 ============ Lam 5:11 They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.(nas) Lam 5:11 γυναῖκας ἐν Σιων ἐταπείνωσαν παρθένους ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα (lxx) Lam 5:11 Mulieres in Sion humiliaverunt, et virgines in civitatibus Juda.(vulgate) 11 ׃5 נָשִׁים֙ בְּצִיּ֣וֹן עִנּ֔וּ בְּתֻלֹ֖ת בְּעָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃ Lamentations Lam 5:11 Sie haben die Weiber zu Zion geschwächt und die Jungfrauen in den Städten Juda's.(dhs) Lam 5:11 They ravished the women in Zion, The maidens in the cities of Judah.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:12 ============ Lam 5:12 Princes were hung by their hands; Elders were not respected.(nas) Lam 5:12 ἄρχοντες ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν ἐκρεμάσθησαν πρεσβύτεροι οὐκ ἐδοξάσθησαν (lxx) Lam 5:12 Principes manu suspensi sunt; facies senum non erubuerunt.(vulgate) 12 ׃5 שָׂרִים֙ בְּיָדָ֣ם נִתְל֔וּ פְּנֵ֥י זְקֵנִ֖ים לֹ֥א נֶהְדָּֽרוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:12 Die Fürsten sind von ihnen gehenkt, und die Person der Alten hat man nicht geehrt.(dhs) Lam 5:12 Princes were hung up by their hands, And elders were not respected.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:13 ============ Lam 5:13 Young men worked at the grinding mill, And youths stumbled under loads of wood.(nas) Lam 5:13 ἐκλεκτοὶ κλαυθμὸν ἀνέλαβον καὶ νεανίσκοι ἐν ξύλῳ ἠσθένησαν (lxx) Lam 5:13 Adolescentibus impudice abusi sunt, et pueri in ligno corruerunt.(vulgate) 13 ׃5 בַּחוּרִים֙ טְח֣וֹן נָשָׂ֔אוּ וּנְעָרִ֖ים בָּעֵ֥ץ כָּשָֽׁלוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:13 Die Jünglinge haben Mühlsteine müssen tragen und die Knaben über dem Holztragen straucheln.(dhs) Lam 5:13 Young men ground at the millstones; Boys staggered under loads of wood.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:14 ============ Lam 5:14 Elders are gone from the gate, Young men from their music.(nas) Lam 5:14 καὶ πρεσβῦται ἀπὸ πύλης κατέπαυσαν ἐκλεκτοὶ ἐκ ψαλμῶν αὐτῶν κατέπαυσαν (lxx) Lam 5:14 Senes defecerunt de portis, juvenes de choro psallentium.(vulgate) 14 ׃5 זְקֵנִים֙ מִשַּׁ֣עַר שָׁבָ֔תוּ בַּחוּרִ֖ים מִנְּגִינָתָֽם׃ Lamentations Lam 5:14 Es sitzen die Alten nicht mehr unter dem Tor, und die Jünglinge treiben kein Saitenspiel mehr.(dhs) Lam 5:14 The elders have ceased gathering at the gate, And the young men from their music.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:15 ============ Lam 5:15 The joy of our hearts has ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.(nas) Lam 5:15 κατέλυσεν χαρὰ καρδίας ἡμῶν ἐστράφη εἰς πένθος ὁ χορὸς ἡμῶν (lxx) Lam 5:15 Defecit gaudium cordis nostri; versus est in luctum chorus noster.(vulgate) 15 ׃5 שָׁבַת֙ מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ לִבֵּ֔נוּ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ לְאֵ֖בֶל מְחֹלֵֽנוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:15 Unsers Herzens Freude hat ein Ende; unser Reigen ist in Wehklagen verkehrt.(dhs) Lam 5:15 The joy of our heart has ceased; Our dance has turned into mourning.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:16 ============ Lam 5:16 The crown has fallen from our head; Woe to us, for we have sinned!(nas) Lam 5:16 ἔπεσεν ὁ στέφανος τῆς κεφαλῆς ἡμῶν οὐαὶ δὴ ἡμῖν ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν (lxx) Lam 5:16 Cecidit corona capitis nostri: væ nobis, quia peccavimus!(vulgate) 16 ׃5 נָֽפְלָה֙ עֲטֶ֣רֶת רֹאשֵׁ֔נוּ אֽוֹי־נָ֥א לָ֖נוּ כִּ֥י חָטָֽאנוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:16 Die Krone unsers Hauptes ist abgefallen. O weh, daß wir so gesündigt haben!(dhs) Lam 5:16 The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:17 ============ Lam 5:17 Because of this our heart is faint, Because of these things our eyes are dim;(nas) Lam 5:17 περὶ τούτου ἐγενήθη ὀδυνηρὰ ἡ καρδία ἡμῶν περὶ τούτου ἐσκότασαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμῶν (lxx) Lam 5:17 Propterea mœstum factum est cor nostrum; ideo contenebrati sunt oculi nostri,(vulgate) 17 ׃5 עַל־זֶ֗ה הָיָ֤ה דָוֶה֙ לִבֵּ֔נוּ עַל־אֵ֖לֶּה חָשְׁכ֥וּ עֵינֵֽינוּ׃ Lamentations Lam 5:17 Darum ist auch unser Herz betrübt, und unsre Augen sind finster geworden(dhs) Lam 5:17 Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes grow dim;(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:18 ============ Lam 5:18 Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate, Foxes prowl in it.(nas) Lam 5:18 ἐπ᾽ ὄρος Σιων ὅτι ἠφανίσθη ἀλώπεκες διῆλθον ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Lam 5:18 propter montem Sion quia disperiit; vulpes ambulaverunt in eo.(vulgate) 18 ׃5 עַ֤ל הַר־צִיּוֹן֙ שֶׁשָּׁמֵ֔ם שׁוּעָלִ֖ים הִלְּכוּ־בֽוֹ׃ פ Lamentations Lam 5:18 um des Berges Zion willen, daß er so wüst liegt, daß die Füchse darüber laufen.(dhs) Lam 5:18 Because of Mount Zion which is desolate, With foxes walking about on it.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:19 ============ Lam 5:19 You, O Lord, rule forever; Your throne is from generation to generation.(nas) Lam 5:19 σὺ δέ κύριε εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κατοικήσεις ὁ θρόνος σου εἰς γενεὰν καὶ γενεάν (lxx) Lam 5:19 Tu autem, Domine, in æternum permanebis, solium tuum in generationem et generationem.(vulgate) 19 ׃5 אַתָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לְעוֹלָ֣ם תֵּשֵׁ֔ב כִּסְאֲךָ֖ לְדֹ֥ר וָדֽוֹר׃ Lamentations Lam 5:19 Aber du, HERR, der du ewiglich bleibst und dein Thron für und für,(dhs) Lam 5:19 You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:20 ============ Lam 5:20 Why do You forget us forever? Why do You forsake us so long?(nas) Lam 5:20 ἵνα τί εἰς νεῖκος ἐπιλήσῃ ἡμῶν καταλείψεις ἡμᾶς εἰς μακρότητα ἡμερῶν (lxx) Lam 5:20 Quare in perpetuum oblivisceris nostri, derelinques nos in longitudine dierum?(vulgate) 20 ׃5 לָ֤מָּה לָנֶ֙צַח֙ תִּשְׁכָּחֵ֔נוּ תַּֽעַזְבֵ֖נוּ לְאֹ֥רֶךְ יָמִֽים׃ Lamentations Lam 5:20 warum willst du unser so gar vergessen und uns lebenslang so gar verlassen?(dhs) Lam 5:20 Why do You forget us forever, And forsake us for so long a time?(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:21 ============ Lam 5:21 Restore us to You, O Lord, that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,(nas) Lam 5:21 ἐπίστρεψον ἡμᾶς κύριε πρὸς σέ καὶ ἐπιστραφησόμεθα καὶ ἀνακαίνισον ἡμέρας ἡμῶν καθὼς ἔμπροσθεν (lxx) Lam 5:21 Converte nos, Domine, ad te, et convertemur; innova dies nostros, sicut a principio.(vulgate) 21 ׃5 הֲשִׁיבֵ֨נוּ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ *ונשוב **וְֽנָשׁ֔וּבָה חַדֵּ֥שׁ יָמֵ֖ינוּ כְּקֶֽדֶם׃ Lamentations Lam 5:21 Bringe uns, HERR, wieder zu dir, daß wir wieder heimkommen; erneuere unsre Tage wie vor alters!(dhs) Lam 5:21 Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old,(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 5:22 ============ Lam 5:22 Unless You have utterly rejected us And are exceedingly angry with us.(nas) Lam 5:22 ὅτι ἀπωθούμενος ἀπώσω ἡμᾶς ὠργίσθης ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἕως σφόδρα (lxx) Lam 5:22 Sed projiciens repulisti nos: iratus es contra nos vehementer.](vulgate) 22 ׃5 כִּ֚י אִם־מָאֹ֣ס מְאַסְתָּ֔נוּ קָצַ֥פְתָּ עָלֵ֖ינוּ עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ Lamentations Lam 5:22 Denn du hast uns verworfen und bist allzusehr über uns erzürnt.(dhs) Lam 5:22 Unless You have utterly rejected us, And are very angry with us!(nkjv) top of the page
