The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:2 ============ Nah 1:2 A jealous and avenging God is the Lord; The Lord is avenging and wrathful. The Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies.(nas) Nah 1:2 θεὸς ζηλωτὴς καὶ ἐκδικῶν κύριος ἐκδικῶν κύριος μετὰ θυμοῦ ἐκδικῶν κύριος τοὺς ὑπεναντίους αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξαίρων αὐτὸς τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ (lxx) Nah 1:2 [Deus æmulator, et ulciscens Dominus: ulciscens Dominus, et habens furorem: ulciscens Dominus in hostes suos, et irascens ipse inimicis suis.(vulgate) 2 ׃1 אֵ֣ל קַנּ֤וֹא וְנֹקֵם֙ יְהוָ֔ה נֹקֵ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה וּבַ֣עַל חֵמָ֑ה נֹקֵ֤ם יְהוָה֙ לְצָרָ֔יו וְנוֹטֵ֥ר ה֖וּא לְאֹיְבָֽיו׃ Nahum Nah 1:2 Der HERR ist ein eifriger Gott und ein Rächer, ja, ein Rächer ist der HERR und zornig; der HERR ist ein Rächer wider seine Widersacher und der es seinen Feinden nicht vergessen wird.(dhs) Nah 1:2 God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies;(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:3 ============ Nah 1:3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.(nas) Nah 1:3 κύριος μακρόθυμος καὶ μεγάλη ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀθῳῶν οὐκ ἀθῳώσει κύριος ἐν συντελείᾳ καὶ ἐν συσσεισμῷ ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ νεφέλαι κονιορτὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Nah 1:3 Dominus patiens, et magnus fortitudine, et mundans non faciet innocentem. Dominus in tempestate et turbine viæ ejus, et nebulæ pulvis pedum ejus.(vulgate) 3 ׃1 יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶ֤רֶךְ אַפַּ֙יִם֙ *וגדול־**וּגְדָל־כֹּ֔חַ וְנַקֵּ֖ה לֹ֣א יְנַקֶּ֑ה יְהוָ֗ה בְּסוּפָ֤ה וּבִשְׂעָרָה֙ דַּרְכּ֔וֹ וְעָנָ֖ן אֲבַ֥ק רַגְלָֽיו׃ Nahum Nah 1:3 Der HERR ist geduldig und von großer Kraft, vor welchem niemand unschuldig ist; er ist der HERR, des Weg in Wetter und Sturm ist und Gewölke der Staub unter seinen Füßen,(dhs) Nah 1:3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The Lord has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:4 ============ Nah 1:4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither; The blossoms of Lebanon wither.(nas) Nah 1:4 ἀπειλῶν θαλάσσῃ καὶ ξηραίνων αὐτὴν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ποταμοὺς ἐξερημῶν ὠλιγώθη ἡ Βασανῖτις καὶ ὁ Κάρμηλος καὶ τὰ ἐξανθοῦντα τοῦ Λιβάνου ἐξέλιπεν (lxx) Nah 1:4 Increpans mare, et exsiccans illud, et omnia flumina ad desertum deducens. Infirmatus est Basan et Carmelus, et flos Libani elanguit.(vulgate) 4 ׃1 גּוֹעֵ֤ר בַּיָּם֙ וַֽיַּבְּשֵׁ֔הוּ וְכָל־הַנְּהָר֖וֹת הֶֽחֱרִ֑יב אֻמְלַ֤ל בָּשָׁן֙ וְכַרְמֶ֔ל וּפֶ֥רַח לְבָנ֖וֹן אֻמְלָֽל׃ Nahum Nah 1:4 der das Meer schilt und trocken macht und alle Wasser vertrocknet. Basan und Karmel verschmachten; und was auf dem Berge Libanon blüht, verschmachtet.(dhs) Nah 1:4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:5 ============ Nah 1:5 Mountains quake because of Him And the hills dissolve; Indeed the earth is upheaved by His presence, The world and all the inhabitants in it.(nas) Nah 1:5 τὰ ὄρη ἐσείσθησαν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ βουνοὶ ἐσαλεύθησαν καὶ ἀνεστάλη ἡ γῆ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἡ σύμπασα καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Nah 1:5 Montes commoti sunt ab eo, et colles desolati sunt: et contremuit terra a facie ejus, et orbis, et omnes habitantes in eo.(vulgate) 5 ׃1 הָרִים֙ רָעֲשׁ֣וּ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ וְהַגְּבָע֖וֹת הִתְמֹגָ֑גוּ וַתִּשָּׂ֤א הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ מִפָּנָ֔יו וְתֵבֵ֖ל וְכָל־יֹ֥שְׁבֵי בָֽהּ׃ Nahum Nah 1:5 Die Berge zittern vor ihm, und die Hügel zergehen; das Erdreich bebt vor ihm, der Weltkreis und alle, die darauf wohnen.(dhs) Nah 1:5 The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:6 ============ Nah 1:6 Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire And the rocks are broken up by Him.(nas) Nah 1:6 ἀπὸ προσώπου ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ τίς ὑποστήσεται καὶ τίς ἀντιστήσεται ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ αὐτοῦ ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ τήκει ἀρχάς καὶ αἱ πέτραι διεθρύβησαν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Nah 1:6 Ante faciem indignationis ejus quis stabit? et quis resistet in ira furoris ejus? Indignatio ejus effusa est ut ignis, et petræ dissolutæ sunt ab eo.(vulgate) 6 ׃1 לִפְנֵ֤י זַעְמוֹ֙ מִ֣י יַֽעֲמ֔וֹד וּמִ֥י יָק֖וּם בַּחֲר֣וֹן אַפּ֑וֹ חֲמָתוֹ֙ נִתְּכָ֣ה כָאֵ֔שׁ וְהַצֻּרִ֖ים נִתְּצ֥וּ מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ Nahum Nah 1:6 Wer kann vor seinem Zorn stehen, und wer kann seinen Grimm bleiben? Sein Zorn brennt wie Feuer, und die Felsen zerspringen vor ihm.(dhs) Nah 1:6 Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:7 ============ Nah 1:7 The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in Him.(nas) Nah 1:7 χρηστὸς κύριος τοῖς ὑπομένουσιν αὐτὸν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως καὶ γινώσκων τοὺς εὐλαβουμένους αὐτόν (lxx) Nah 1:7 Bonus Dominus, et confortans in die tribulationis, et sciens sperantes in se.(vulgate) 7 ׃1 ט֣וֹב יְהוָ֔ה לְמָע֖וֹז בְּי֣וֹם צָרָ֑ה וְיֹדֵ֖עַ חֹ֥סֵי בֽוֹ׃ Nahum Nah 1:7 Der HERR ist gütig und eine Feste zur Zeit der Not und kennt die, die auf ihn trauen.(dhs) Nah 1:7 The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:8 ============ Nah 1:8 But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness.(nas) Nah 1:8 καὶ ἐν κατακλυσμῷ πορείας συντέλειαν ποιήσεται τοὺς ἐπεγειρομένους καὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ διώξεται σκότος (lxx) Nah 1:8 Et in diluvio prætereunte consummationem faciet loci ejus, et inimicos ejus persequentur tenebræ.(vulgate) 8 ׃1 וּבְשֶׁ֣טֶף עֹבֵ֔ר כָּלָ֖ה יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה מְקוֹמָ֑הּ וְאֹיְבָ֖יו יְרַדֶּף־חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ Nahum Nah 1:8 Er läßt die Flut überher laufen und macht derselben Stätte ein Ende, und seine Feinde verfolgt er mit Finsternis.(dhs) Nah 1:8 But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:9 ============ Nah 1:9 Whatever you devise against the Lord, He will make a complete end of it. Distress will not rise up twice.(nas) Nah 1:9 τί λογίζεσθε ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον συντέλειαν αὐτὸς ποιήσεται οὐκ ἐκδικήσει δὶς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἐν θλίψει (lxx) Nah 1:9 Quid cogitatis contra Dominum? Consummationem ipse faciet: non consurget duplex tribulatio,(vulgate) 9 ׃1 מַה־תְּחַשְּׁבוּן֙ אֶל־יְהוָ֔ה כָּלָ֖ה ה֣וּא עֹשֶׂ֑ה לֹֽא־תָק֥וּם פַּעֲמַ֖יִם צָרָֽה׃ Nahum Nah 1:9 Was gedenkt ihr wider den HERRN? Er wird doch ein Ende machen; es wird das Unglück nicht zweimal kommen.(dhs) Nah 1:9 What do you conspire against the Lord? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:10 ============ Nah 1:10 Like tangled thorns, And like those who are drunken with their drink, They are consumed As stubble completely withered.(nas) Nah 1:10 ὅτι ἕως θεμελίου αὐτῶν χερσωθήσεται καὶ ὡς σμῖλαξ περιπλεκομένη βρωθήσεται καὶ ὡς καλάμη ξηρασίας μεστή (lxx) Nah 1:10 quia sicut spinæ se invicem complectuntur, sic convivium eorum pariter potantium; consumentur quasi stipula ariditate plena.(vulgate) 10 ׃1 כִּ֚י עַד־סִירִ֣ים סְבֻכִ֔ים וּכְסָבְאָ֖ם סְבוּאִ֑ים אֻ֨כְּל֔וּ כְּקַ֥שׁ יָבֵ֖שׁ מָלֵֽא׃ Nahum Nah 1:10 Denn wenn sie gleich sind wie die Dornen, die noch ineinanderwachsen und im besten Saft sind, so sollen sie doch verbrannt werden wie dürres Stroh.(dhs) Nah 1:10 For while tangled like thorns, And while drunken like drunkards, They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:11 ============ Nah 1:11 From you has gone forth One who plotted evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor.(nas) Nah 1:11 ἐκ σοῦ ἐξελεύσεται λογισμὸς κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου πονηρὰ λογιζόμενος ἐναντία (lxx) Nah 1:11 Ex te exibit cogitans contra Dominum malitiam, mente pertractans prævaricationem.(vulgate) 11 ׃1 מִמֵּ֣ךְ יָצָ֔א חֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־יְהוָ֖ה רָעָ֑ה יֹעֵ֖ץ בְּלִיָּֽעַל׃ ס Nahum Nah 1:11 Denn von dir ist gekommen der Schalksrat, der Böses wider den HERRN gedachte.(dhs) Nah 1:11 From you comes forth one Who plots evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:12 ============ Nah 1:12 Thus says the Lord, "Though they are at full strength and likewise many, Even so, they will be cut off and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no longer.(nas) Nah 1:12 τάδε λέγει κύριος κατάρχων ὑδάτων πολλῶν καὶ οὕτως διασταλήσονται καὶ ἡ ἀκοή σου οὐκ ἐνακουσθήσεται ἔτι (lxx) Nah 1:12 Hæc dicit Dominus: Si perfecti fuerint, et ita plures, sic quoque attondentur, et pertransibit: afflixi te, et non affligam te ultra.(vulgate) 12 ׃1 כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אִם־שְׁלֵמִים֙ וְכֵ֣ן רַבִּ֔ים וְכֵ֥ן נָגֹ֖זּוּ וְעָבָ֑ר וְעִ֨נִּתִ֔ךְ לֹ֥א אֲעַנֵּ֖ךְ עֽוֹד׃ Nahum Nah 1:12 So spricht der HERR: Sie kommen so gerüstet und mächtig, wie sie wollen, so sollen sie doch umgehauen werden und dahinfahren. Ich habe dich gedemütigt; aber ich will dich nicht wiederum demütigen.(dhs) Nah 1:12 Thus says the Lord: "Though they are safe, and likewise many, Yet in this manner they will be cut down When he passes through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more;(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:13 ============ Nah 1:13 "So now, I will break his yoke bar from upon you, And I will tear off your shackles."(nas) Nah 1:13 καὶ νῦν συντρίψω τὴν ῥάβδον αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ τοὺς δεσμούς σου διαρρήξω (lxx) Nah 1:13 Et nunc conteram virgam ejus de dorso tuo, et vincula tua disrumpam.(vulgate) 13 ׃1 וְעַתָּ֕ה אֶשְׁבֹּ֥ר מֹטֵ֖הוּ מֵֽעָלָ֑יִךְ וּמוֹסְרֹתַ֖יִךְ אֲנַתֵּֽק׃ Nahum Nah 1:13 Alsdann will ich sein Joch, das du trägst, zerbrechen und deine Bande zerreißen.(dhs) Nah 1:13 For now I will break off his yoke from you, And burst your bonds apart."(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:14 ============ Nah 1:14 The Lord has issued a command concerning you: "Your name will no longer be perpetuated. I will cut off idol and image From the house of your gods. I will prepare your grave, For you are contemptible."(nas) Nah 1:14 καὶ ἐντελεῖται ὑπὲρ σοῦ κύριος οὐ σπαρήσεται ἐκ τοῦ ὀνόματός σου ἔτι ἐξ οἴκου θεοῦ σου ἐξολεθρεύσω τὰ γλυπτὰ καὶ χωνευτά θήσομαι ταφήν σου ὅτι ταχεῖς (lxx) Nah 1:14 Et præcipiet super te Dominus; non seminabitur ex nomine tuo amplius: de domo Dei tui interficiam sculptile, et conflatile; ponam sepulchrum tuum, quia inhonoratus es.(vulgate) 14 ׃1 וְצִוָּ֤ה עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה לֹֽא־יִזָּרַ֥ע מִשִּׁמְךָ֖ ע֑וֹד מִבֵּ֨ית אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ אַכְרִ֨ית פֶּ֧סֶל וּמַסֵּכָ֛ה אָשִׂ֥ים קִבְרֶ֖ךָ כִּ֥י קַלּֽוֹתָ׃ פ Nahum Nah 1:14 Aber wider dich hat der HERR geboten, daß deines Namens kein Same mehr soll bleiben. Vom Hause deines Gottes will ich dich ausrotten, die Götzen und Bilder will ich dir zum Grab machen; denn du bist zunichte geworden.(dhs) Nah 1:14 The Lord has given a command concerning you: "Your name shall be perpetuated no longer. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the carved image and the molded image. I will dig your grave, For you are vile."(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:15 ============ Nah 1:15 Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; Pay your vows. For never again will the wicked one pass through you; He is cut off completely.(nas) Nah 1:15 ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη οἱ πόδες εὐαγγελιζομένου καὶ ἀπαγγέλλοντος εἰρήνην ἑόρταζε Ιουδα τὰς ἑορτάς σου ἀπόδος τὰς εὐχάς σου διότι οὐ μὴ προσθήσωσιν ἔτι τοῦ διελθεῖν διὰ σοῦ εἰς παλαίωσιν συντετέλεσται ἐξῆρται (lxx) Nah 1:15 Ecce super montes pedes evangelizantis, et annuntiantis pacem. Celebra, Juda, festivitates tuas, et redde vota tua, quia non adjiciet ultra ut pertranseat in te Belial: universus interiit.](vulgate) 1 ׃2 הִנֵּ֨ה עַל־הֶהָרִ֜ים רַגְלֵ֤י מְבַשֵּׂר֙ מַשְׁמִ֣יעַ שָׁל֔וֹם חָגִּ֧י יְהוּדָ֛ה חַגַּ֖יִךְ שַׁלְּמִ֣י נְדָרָ֑יִךְ כִּי֩ לֹ֨א יוֹסִ֥יף ע֛וֹד *לעבור־**לַֽעֲבָר־בָּ֥ךְ בְּלִיַּ֖עַל כֻּלֹּ֥ה נִכְרָֽת׃ Nahum Nah 1:15 Siehe, auf den Bergen kommen Füße eines guten Boten, der da Frieden verkündigt! Halte deine Feiertage, Juda, und bezahle deine Gelübde! denn es wird der Arge nicht mehr über dich kommen; er ist ganz ausgerottet.(dhs) Nah 1:15 Behold, on the mountains The feet of him who brings good tidings, Who proclaims peace!
