Its victim never departs.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:2 ============ Nah 3:2 The noise of the whip, The noise of the rattling of the wheel, Galloping horses And bounding chariots!(nas) Nah 3:2 φωνὴ μαστίγων καὶ φωνὴ σεισμοῦ τροχῶν καὶ ἵππου διώκοντος καὶ ἅρματος ἀναβράσσοντος (lxx) Nah 3:2 Vox flagelli, et vox impetus rotæ, et equi frementis, et quadrigæ ferventis, et equitis ascendentis,(vulgate) 2 ׃3 ק֣וֹל שׁ֔וֹט וְק֖וֹל רַ֣עַשׁ אוֹפָ֑ן וְס֣וּס דֹּהֵ֔ר וּמֶרְכָּבָ֖ה מְרַקֵּדָֽה׃ Nahum Nah 3:2 Denn da wird man hören die Geißeln klappen und die Räder rasseln und die Rosse jagen und die Wagen rollen.(dhs) Nah 3:2 The noise of a whip And the noise of rattling wheels, Of galloping horses, Of clattering chariots!(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:3 ============ Nah 3:3 Horsemen charging, Swords flashing, spears gleaming, Many slain, a mass of corpses, And countless dead bodies-- They stumble over the dead bodies!(nas) Nah 3:3 καὶ ἱππέως ἀναβαίνοντος καὶ στιλβούσης ῥομφαίας καὶ ἐξαστραπτόντων ὅπλων καὶ πλήθους τραυματιῶν καὶ βαρείας πτώσεως καὶ οὐκ ἦν πέρας τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῆς καὶ ἀσθενήσουσιν ἐν τοῖς σώμασιν αὐτῶν (lxx) Nah 3:3 et micantis gladii, et fulgurantis hastæ, et multitudinis interfectæ, et gravis ruinæ; nec est finis cadaverum, et corruent in corporibus suis.(vulgate) 3 ׃3 פָּרָ֣שׁ מַעֲלֶ֗ה וְלַ֤הַב חֶ֙רֶב֙ וּבְרַ֣ק חֲנִ֔ית וְרֹ֥ב חָלָ֖ל וְכֹ֣בֶד פָּ֑גֶר וְאֵ֥ין קֵ֙צֶה֙ לַגְּוִיָּ֔ה *יכשלו **וְכָשְׁל֖וּ בִּגְוִיָּתָֽם׃ Nahum Nah 3:3 Reiter rücken herauf mit glänzenden Schwertern und blitzenden Spießen. Da liegen viel Erschlagene und große Haufen Leichname, daß ihrer keine Zahl ist und man über die Leichname fallen muß.(dhs) Nah 3:3 Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear. There is a multitude of slain, A great number of bodies, Countless corpses-- They stumble over the corpses--(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:4 ============ Nah 3:4 All because of the many harlotries of the harlot, The charming one, the mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations by her harlotries And families by her sorceries.(nas) Nah 3:4 ἀπὸ πλήθους πορνείας πόρνη καλὴ καὶ ἐπιχαρὴς ἡγουμένη φαρμάκων ἡ πωλοῦσα ἔθνη ἐν τῇ πορνείᾳ αὐτῆς καὶ φυλὰς ἐν τοῖς φαρμάκοις αὐτῆς (lxx) Nah 3:4 Propter multitudinem fornicationum meretricis speciosæ, et gratæ, et habentis maleficia, quæ vendidit gentes in fornicationibus suis, et familias in maleficiis suis.(vulgate) 4 ׃3 מֵרֹב֙ זְנוּנֵ֣י זוֹנָ֔ה ט֥וֹבַת חֵ֖ן בַּעֲלַ֣ת כְּשָׁפִ֑ים הַמֹּכֶ֤רֶת גּוֹיִם֙ בִּזְנוּנֶ֔יהָ וּמִשְׁפָּח֖וֹת בִּכְשָׁפֶֽיהָ׃ Nahum Nah 3:4 Das alles um der Hurerei willen der schönen, lieben Hure, die mit Zauberei umgeht, die mit ihrer Hurerei die Heiden und mit ihrer Zauberei Land und Leute zu Knechten gemacht hat.(dhs) Nah 3:4 Because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot, The mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations through her harlotries, And families through her sorceries.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:5 ============ Nah 3:5 "Behold, I am against you," declares the Lord of hosts; "And I will lift up your skirts over your face, And show to the nations your nakedness And to the kingdoms your disgrace.(nas) Nah 3:5 ἰδοῦ ἐγὼ ἐπὶ σέ λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ καὶ ἀποκαλύψω τὰ ὀπίσω σου ἐπὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν σου καὶ δείξω ἔθνεσιν τὴν αἰσχύνην σου καὶ βασιλείαις τὴν ἀτιμίαν σου (lxx) Nah 3:5 Ecce ego ad te, dicit Dominus exercituum, et revelabo pudenda tua in facie tua; et ostendam gentibus nuditatem tuam, et regnis ignominiam tuam.(vulgate) 5 ׃3 הִנְנִ֣י אֵלַ֗יִךְ נְאֻם֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת וְגִלֵּיתִ֥י שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ עַל־פָּנָ֑יִךְ וְהַרְאֵיתִ֤י גוֹיִם֙ מַעְרֵ֔ךְ וּמַמְלָכ֖וֹת קְלוֹנֵֽךְ׃ Nahum Nah 3:5 Siehe, ich will an dich, spricht der HERR Zebaoth; ich will dir deine Säume aufdecken unter dein Angesicht und will den Heiden deine Blöße und den Königreichen deine Schande zeigen.(dhs) Nah 3:5 "Behold, I am against you," says the Lord of hosts; "I will lift your skirts over your face, I will show the nations your nakedness, And the kingdoms your shame.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:6 ============ Nah 3:6 "I will throw filth on you And make you vile, And set you up as a spectacle.(nas) Nah 3:6 καὶ ἐπιρρίψω ἐπὶ σὲ βδελυγμὸν κατὰ τὰς ἀκαθαρσίας σου καὶ θήσομαί σε εἰς παράδειγμα (lxx) Nah 3:6 Et projiciam super te abominationes, et contumeliis te afficiam, et ponam te in exemplum.(vulgate) 6 ׃3 וְהִשְׁלַכְתִּ֥י עָלַ֛יִךְ שִׁקֻּצִ֖ים וְנִבַּלְתִּ֑יךְ וְשַׂמְתִּ֖יךְ כְּרֹֽאִי׃ Nahum Nah 3:6 Ich will dich ganz greulich machen und dich schänden und ein Schauspiel aus dir machen,(dhs) Nah 3:6 I will cast abominable filth upon you, Make you vile, And make you a spectacle.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:7 ============ Nah 3:7 "And it will come about that all who see you Will shrink from you and say, 'Nineveh is devastated! Who will grieve for her?' Where will I seek comforters for you?"(nas) Nah 3:7 καὶ ἔσται πᾶς ὁ ὁρῶν σε ἀποπηδήσεται ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ ἐρεῖ Δειλαία Νινευη τίς στενάξει αὐτήν πόθεν ζητήσω παράκλησιν αὐτῇ (lxx) Nah 3:7 Et erit: omnis qui viderit te resiliet a te, et dicet: Vastata est Ninive. Quis commovebit super te caput? unde quæram consolatorem tibi?(vulgate) 7 ׃3 וְהָיָ֤ה כָל־רֹאַ֙יִךְ֙ יִדּ֣וֹד מִמֵּ֔ךְ וְאָמַר֙ שָׁדְּדָ֣ה נִֽינְוֵ֔ה מִ֖י יָנ֣וּד לָ֑הּ מֵאַ֛יִן אֲבַקֵּ֥שׁ מְנַחֲמִ֖ים לָֽךְ׃ Nahum Nah 3:7 daß alle, die dich sehen, vor dir fliehen und sagen sollen: Ninive ist zerstört; wer will Mitleid mit ihr haben? Und wo soll ich dir Tröster suchen?(dhs) Nah 3:7 It shall come to pass that all who look upon you Will flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste! Who will bemoan her?' Where shall I seek comforters for you?"(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:8 ============ Nah 3:8 Are you better than No-amon, Which was situated by the waters of the Nile, With water surrounding her, Whose rampart was the sea, Whose wall consisted of the sea?(nas) Nah 3:8 ἑτοίμασαι μερίδα ἅρμοσαι χορδήν ἑτοίμασαι μερίδα Αμων ἡ κατοικοῦσα ἐν ποταμοῖς ὕδωρ κύκλῳ αὐτῆς ἧς ἡ ἀρχὴ θάλασσα καὶ ὕδωρ τὰ τείχη αὐτῆς (lxx) Nah 3:8 Numquid melior es Alexandria populorum, quæ habitat in fluminibus? aquæ in circuitu ejus; cujus divitiæ, mare; aquæ, muri ejus.(vulgate) 8 ׃3 הֲתֵֽיטְבִי֙ מִנֹּ֣א אָמ֔וֹן הַיֹּֽשְׁבָה֙ בַּיְאֹרִ֔ים מַ֖יִם סָבִ֣יב לָ֑הּ אֲשֶׁר־חֵ֣יל יָ֔ם מִיָּ֖ם חוֹמָתָֽהּ׃ Nahum Nah 3:8 Meinst du, du seist besser denn die Stadt No-Amon, die da lag an den Wassern und ringsumher Wasser hatte, deren Mauern und Feste war das Meer?(dhs) Nah 3:8 Are you better than No Amon That was situated by the River, That had the waters around her, Whose rampart was the sea, Whose wall was the sea?(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:9 ============ Nah 3:9 Ethiopia was her might, And Egypt too, without limits. Put and Lubim were among her helpers.(nas) Nah 3:9 καὶ Αἰθιοπία ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτῆς καὶ Αἴγυπτος καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν πέρας τῆς φυγῆς καὶ Λίβυες ἐγένοντο βοηθοὶ αὐτῆς (lxx) Nah 3:9 Æthiopia fortitudo ejus, et Ægyptus, et non est finis; Africa et Libyes fuerunt in auxilio tuo.(vulgate) 9 ׃3 כּ֥וּשׁ עָצְמָ֛ה וּמִצְרַ֖יִם וְאֵ֣ין קֵ֑צֶה פּ֣וּט וְלוּבִ֔ים הָי֖וּ בְּעֶזְרָתֵֽךְ׃ Nahum Nah 3:9 Mohren und Ägypten war ihre unzählige Macht, Put und Libyen waren ihre Hilfe.(dhs) Nah 3:9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, And it was boundless; Put and Lubim were your helpers.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:10 ============ Nah 3:10 Yet she became an exile, She went into captivity; Also her small children were dashed to pieces At the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, And all her great men were bound with fetters.(nas) Nah 3:10 καὶ αὐτὴ εἰς μετοικεσίαν πορεύσεται αἰχμάλωτος καὶ τὰ νήπια αὐτῆς ἐδαφιοῦσιν ἐπ᾽ ἀρχὰς πασῶν τῶν ὁδῶν αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔνδοξα αὐτῆς βαλοῦσιν κλήρους καὶ πάντες οἱ μεγιστᾶνες αὐτῆς δεθήσονται χειροπέδαις (lxx) Nah 3:10 Sed et ipsa in transmigrationem ducta est in captivitatem: parvuli ejus elisi sunt in capite omnium viarum, et super inclytos ejus miserunt sortem, et omnes optimates ejus confixi sunt in compedibus.(vulgate) 10 ׃3 גַּם־הִ֗יא לַגֹּלָה֙ הָלְכָ֣ה בַשֶּׁ֔בִי גַּ֧ם עֹלָלֶ֛יהָ יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ כָּל־חוּצ֑וֹת וְעַל־נִכְבַּדֶּ֙יהָ֙ יַדּ֣וּ גוֹרָ֔ל וְכָל־גְּדוֹלֶ֖יהָ רֻתְּק֥וּ בַזִּקִּֽים׃ Nahum Nah 3:10 Doch hat sie müssen vertrieben werden und gefangen wegziehen; und sind ihre Kinder auf allen Gassen zerschmettert worden, und um ihre Edlen warf man das Los, und alle ihre Gewaltigen wurden in Ketten und Fesseln gelegt.(dhs) Nah 3:10 Yet she was carried away, She went into captivity; Her young children also were dashed to pieces At the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, And all her great men were bound in chains.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:11 ============ Nah 3:11 You too will become drunk, You will be hidden. You too will search for a refuge from the enemy.(nas) Nah 3:11 καὶ σὺ μεθυσθήσῃ καὶ ἔσῃ ὑπερεωραμένη καὶ σὺ ζητήσεις σεαυτῇ στάσιν ἐξ ἐχθρῶν (lxx) Nah 3:11 Et tu ergo inebriaberis, et eris despecta: et tu quæres auxilium ab inimico.(vulgate) 11 ׃3 גַּם־אַ֣תְּ תִּשְׁכְּרִ֔י תְּהִ֖י נַֽעֲלָמָ֑ה גַּם־אַ֛תְּ תְּבַקְשִׁ֥י מָע֖וֹז מֵאוֹיֵֽב׃ Nahum Nah 3:11 Also mußt du auch trunken werden und dich verbergen und eine Feste suchen vor dem Feinde.(dhs) Nah 3:11 You also will be drunk; You will be hidden; You also will seek refuge from the enemy.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:12 ============ Nah 3:12 All your fortifications are fig trees with ripe fruit-- When shaken, they fall into the eater's mouth.(nas) Nah 3:12 πάντα τὰ ὀχυρώματά σου συκαῖ σκοποὺς ἔχουσαι ἐὰν σαλευθῶσιν καὶ πεσοῦνται εἰς στόμα ἔσθοντος (lxx) Nah 3:12 Omnes munitiones tuæ sicut ficus cum grossis suis: si concussæ fuerint, cadent in os comedentis.(vulgate) 12 ׃3 כָּ֨ל־מִבְצָרַ֔יִךְ תְּאֵנִ֖ים עִם־בִּכּוּרִ֑ים אִם־יִנּ֕וֹעוּ וְנָפְל֖וּ עַל־פִּ֥י אוֹכֵֽל׃ Nahum Nah 3:12 Alle deine festen Städte sind wie Feigenbäume mit reifen Feigen, die, wenn man sie schüttelt, dem ins Maul fallen, der sie essen will.(dhs) Nah 3:12 All your strongholds are fig trees with ripened figs: If they are shaken, They fall into the mouth of the eater.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:13 ============ Nah 3:13 Behold, your people are women in your midst! The gates of your land are opened wide to your enemies; Fire consumes your gate bars.(nas) Nah 3:13 ἰδοὺ ὁ λαός σου ὡς γυναῖκες ἐν σοί τοῖς ἐχθροῖς σου ἀνοιγόμεναι ἀνοιχθήσονται πύλαι τῆς γῆς σου καὶ καταφάγεται πῦρ τοὺς μοχλούς σου (lxx) Nah 3:13 Ecce populus tuus mulieres in medio tui: inimicis tuis adapertione pandentur portæ terræ tuæ, devorabit ignis vectes tuos.(vulgate) 13 ׃3 הִנֵּ֨ה עַמֵּ֤ךְ נָשִׁים֙ בְּקִרְבֵּ֔ךְ לְאֹ֣יְבַ֔יִךְ פָּת֥וֹחַ נִפְתְּח֖וּ שַׁעֲרֵ֣י אַרְצֵ֑ךְ אָכְלָ֥ה אֵ֖שׁ בְּרִיחָֽיִך׃ Nahum Nah 3:13 Siehe, dein Volk soll zu Weibern werden in dir, und die Tore deines Landes sollen deinen Feinden geöffnet werden, und das Feuer soll deine Riegel verzehren.(dhs) Nah 3:13 Surely, your people in your midst are women! The gates of your land are wide open for your enemies; Fire shall devour the bars of your gates.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:14 ============ Nah 3:14 Draw for yourself water for the siege! Strengthen your fortifications! Go into the clay and tread the mortar! Take hold of the brick mold!(nas) Nah 3:14 ὕδωρ περιοχῆς ἐπίσπασαι σεαυτῇ καὶ κατακράτησον τῶν ὀχυρωμάτων σου ἔμβηθι εἰς πηλὸν καὶ συμπατήθητι ἐν ἀχύροις κατακράτησον ὑπὲρ πλίνθον (lxx) Nah 3:14 Aquam propter obsidionem hauri tibi: exstrue munitiones tuas, intra in lutum, et calca, subigens tene laterem.(vulgate) 14 ׃3 מֵ֤י מָצוֹר֙ שַֽׁאֲבִי־לָ֔ךְ חַזְּקִ֖י מִבְצָרָ֑יִךְ בֹּ֧אִי בַטִּ֛יט וְרִמְסִ֥י בַחֹ֖מֶר הַחֲזִ֥יקִי מַלְבֵּֽן׃ Nahum Nah 3:14 Schöpfe dir Wasser, denn du wirst belagert werden! Bessere deine Festen! Gehe in den Ton und tritt den Lehm und mache starke Ziegel!(dhs) Nah 3:14 Draw your water for the siege! Fortify your strongholds! Go into the clay and tread the mortar! Make strong the brick kiln!(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:15 ============ Nah 3:15 There fire will consume you, The sword will cut you down; It will consume you as the locust does. Multiply yourself like the creeping locust, Multiply yourself like the swarming locust.(nas) Nah 3:15 ἐκεῖ καταφάγεταί σε πῦρ ἐξολεθρεύσει σε ῥομφαία καταφάγεταί σε ὡς ἀκρίς καὶ βαρυνθήσῃ ὡς βροῦχος (lxx) Nah 3:15 Ibi comedet te ignis, peribis gladio, devorabit te ut bruchus: congregare ut bruchus, multiplicare ut locusta.(vulgate) 15 ׃3 שָׁ֚ם תֹּאכְלֵ֣ךְ אֵ֔שׁ תַּכְרִיתֵ֣ךְ חֶ֔רֶב תֹּאכְלֵ֖ךְ כַּיָּ֑לֶק הִתְכַּבֵּ֣ד כַּיֶּ֔לֶק הִֽתְכַּבְּדִ֖י כָּאַרְבֶּֽה׃ Nahum Nah 3:15 Aber das Feuer wir dich fressen und das Schwert töten; es wird dich abfressen wie ein Käfer, ob deines Volkes schon viel ist wie Käfer, ob deines Volkes schon viel ist wie Heuschrecken.(dhs) Nah 3:15 There the fire will devour you, The sword will cut you off; It will eat you up like a locust. Make yourself many--like the locust! Make yourself many--like the swarming locusts!(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:16 ============ Nah 3:16 You have increased your traders more than the stars of heaven-- The creeping locust strips and flies away.(nas) Nah 3:16 ἐπλήθυνας τὰς ἐμπορίας σου ὑπὲρ τὰ ἄστρα τοῦ οὐρανοῦ βροῦχος ὥρμησεν καὶ ἐξεπετάσθη (lxx) Nah 3:16 Plures fecisti negotiationes tuas quam stellæ sint cæli; bruchus expansus est, et avolavit.(vulgate) 16 ׃3 הִרְבֵּית֙ רֹֽכְלַ֔יִךְ מִכּוֹכְבֵ֖י הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם יֶ֥לֶק פָּשַׁ֖ט וַיָּעֹֽף׃ Nahum Nah 3:16 Du hast mehr Händler, denn Sterne am Himmel sind; aber nun werden sie sich ausbreiten wie Käfer und davonfliegen.(dhs) Nah 3:16 You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of heaven. The locust plunders and flies away.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:17 ============ Nah 3:17 Your guardsmen are like the swarming locust. Your marshals are like hordes of grasshoppers Settling in the stone walls on a cold day. The sun rises and they flee, And the place where they are is not known.(nas) Nah 3:17 ἐξήλατο ὡς ἀττέλεβος ὁ σύμμικτός σου ὡς ἀκρὶς ἐπιβεβηκυῖα ἐπὶ φραγμὸν ἐν ἡμέραις πάγους ὁ ἥλιος ἀνέτειλεν καὶ ἀφήλατο καὶ οὐκ ἔγνω τὸν τόπον αὐτῆς οὐαὶ αὐτοῖς (lxx) Nah 3:17 Custodes tui quasi locustæ, et parvuli tui quasi locustæ locustarum, quæ considunt in sepibus in die frigoris: sol ortus est, et avolaverunt, et non est cognitus locus earum ubi fuerint.(vulgate) 17 ׃3 מִנְּזָרַ֙יִךְ֙ כָּֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה וְטַפְסְרַ֖יִךְ כְּג֣וֹב גֹּבָ֑י הַֽחוֹנִ֤ים בַּגְּדֵרוֹת֙ בְּי֣וֹם קָרָ֔ה שֶׁ֤מֶשׁ זָֽרְחָה֙ וְנוֹדַ֔ד וְלֹֽא־נוֹדַ֥ע מְקוֹמ֖וֹ אַיָּֽם׃ Nahum Nah 3:17 Deiner Herden sind so viel wie Heuschrecken und deiner Hauptleute wie Käfer, die sich an die Zäune lagern in den kalten Tagen; wenn aber die Sonne aufgeht, heben sie sich davon, daß man nicht weiß, wo sie bleiben.(dhs) Nah 3:17 Your commanders are like swarming locusts, And your generals like great grasshoppers, Which camp in the hedges on a cold day; When the sun rises they flee away, And the place where they are is not known.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 3:18 ============ Nah 3:18 Your shepherds are sleeping, O king of Assyria; Your nobles are lying down. Omnes qui audierunt auditionem tuam compresserunt manum super te: quia super quem non transiit malitia tua semper?](vulgate) 19 ׃3 אֵין־כֵּהָ֣ה לְשִׁבְרֶ֔ךָ נַחְלָ֖ה מַכָּתֶ֑ךָ כֹּ֣ל ׀ שֹׁמְעֵ֣י שִׁמְעֲךָ֗ תָּ֤קְעוּ כַף֙ עָלֶ֔יךָ כִּ֗י עַל־מִ֛י לֹֽא־עָבְרָ֥ה רָעָתְךָ֖ תָּמִֽיד׃ Nahum Nah 3:19 Niemand wird deinen Schaden lindern, und deine Wunde wird unheilbar sein.
