Today's Date: ======= Acts 4:1 ============ Act 4:1 As they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,(nas) Act 4:1 λαλούντων δὲ αὐτῶν πρὸς τὸν λαὸν ἐπέστησαν αὐτοῖς οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ ὁ στρατηγὸς τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ οἱ σαδδουκαῖοι, (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:1 Loquentibus autem illis ad populum, supervenerunt sacerdotes, et magistratus templi, et sadducæi,(vulgate) וַיְהִי כְּדַבְּרָם אֶל־הָעָם וַיָּקוּמוּ עֲלֵיהֶם הַכֹּהֲנִים וְשַׂר צְבָא הַהֵיכָל וְהַצַּדּוּקִים׃ א Acts Act 4:1 Als sie aber zum Volk redeten, traten zu ihnen die Priester und der Hauptmann des Tempels und die Sadduzäer(dhs) Act 4:1 Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:2 ============ Act 4:2 being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.(nas) Act 4:2 διαπονούμενοι διὰ τὸ διδάσκειν αὐτοὺς τὸν λαὸν καὶ καταγγέλλειν ἐν τῶ ἰησοῦ τὴν ἀνάστασιν τὴν ἐκ νεκρῶν, (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:2 dolentes quod docerent populum, et annuntiarent in Jesu resurrectionem ex mortuis:(vulgate) כִּי־צַר לָהֶם עַל־אֲשֶׁר הוֹרוּ לָעָם וְעַל־אֲשֶׁר הִגִּדוּ בְיֵשׁוּעַ אֶת־תְּחִיַּת הַמֵּתִים׃ ב Acts Act 4:2 (sie verdroß, daß sie das Volk lehrten und verkündigten an Jesu die Auferstehung von den Toten)(dhs) Act 4:2 being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:3 ============ Act 4:3 And they laid hands on them and put them in jail until the next day, for it was already evening.(nas) Act 4:3 καὶ ἐπέβαλον αὐτοῖς τὰς χεῖρας καὶ ἔθεντο εἰς τήρησιν εἰς τὴν αὔριον· ἦν γὰρ ἑσπέρα ἤδη. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:3 et injecerunt in eos manus, et posuerunt eos in custodiam in crastinum: erat enim jam vespera.(vulgate) וַיִשְׁלְחוּ יְדֵיהֶם בָּם וַיִּתְּנוּם בַּמִּשְׁמָר עַד־לְמָחָר כִּי־כְבָר הִגִּיעַ הָעָרֶב׃ ג Acts Act 4:3 und legten die Hände an sie und setzten sie ein bis auf morgen; denn es war jetzt Abend.(dhs) Act 4:3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:4 ============ Act 4:4 But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.(nas) Act 4:4 πολλοὶ δὲ τῶν ἀκουσάντων τὸν λόγον ἐπίστευσαν, καὶ ἐγενήθη [ὁ] ἀριθμὸς τῶν ἀνδρῶν [ὡς] χιλιάδες πέντε. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:4 Multi autem eorum qui audierant verbum, crediderunt: et factus est numerus virorum quinque millia.(vulgate) אַךְ רַבִּים מִשֹּׁמְעֵי דִבְרֵי הַבְּשׂוֹרָה הֶאֱמִינוּ וַיְהִי מִסְפַּר הָאֲנָשִׁים כַּחֲמֵשֶׁת אֲלָפִים׃ ד Acts Act 4:4 Aber viele unter denen, die dem Wort zuhörten, wurden gläubig; und ward die Zahl der Männer bei fünftausend.(dhs) Act 4:4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:5 ============ Act 4:5 On the next day, their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem;(nas) Act 4:5 ἐγένετο δὲ ἐπὶ τὴν αὔριον συναχθῆναι αὐτῶν τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους καὶ τοὺς γραμματεῖς ἐν ἰερουσαλήμ (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:5 Factum est autem in crastinum, ut congregarentur principes eorum, et seniores, et scribæ, in Jerusalem:(vulgate) וַיְהִי מִמָּחֳרָת וַיִּקָּהֲלוּ הַשָּׂרִים הַזְּקֵנִים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים בִּירוּשָׁלָיִם׃ ה Acts Act 4:5 Als es nun kam auf den Morgen, versammelten sich ihre Obersten und Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten gen Jerusalem,(dhs) Act 4:5 And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes,(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:6 ============ Act 4:6 and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly descent.(nas) Act 4:6 καὶ ἅννας ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς καὶ καϊάφας καὶ ἰωάννης καὶ ἀλέξανδρος καὶ ὅσοι ἦσαν ἐκ γένους ἀρχιερατικοῦ (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:6 et Annas princeps sacerdotum, et Caiphas, et Joannes, et Alexander, et quotquot erant de genere sacerdotali.(vulgate) וְחָנָן הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְקַיָּפָה וְיוֹחָנָן וַאֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרוֹס וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר לְמִשְׁפַּחַת בֵּית הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל׃ ו Acts Act 4:6 Hannas, der Hohepriester, und Kaiphas und Johannes und Alexander und wie viel ihrer waren vom Hohenpriestergeschlecht;(dhs) Act 4:6 as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:7 ============ Act 4:7 When they had placed them in the center, they began to inquire, "By what power, or in what name, have you done this?"(nas) Act 4:7 καὶ στήσαντες αὐτοὺς ἐν τῶ μέσῳ ἐπυνθάνοντο, ἐν ποίᾳ δυνάμει ἢ ἐν ποίῳ ὀνόματι ἐποιήσατε τοῦτο ὑμεῖς; (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:7 Et statuentes eos in medio, interrogabant: In qua virtute, aut in quo nomine fecistis hoc vos?~(vulgate) וַיַּעֲמִידוּ אֹתָם בַּתָּוֶךְ וַיִּשְׁאָלוּם לֵאמֹר בְּכֹחַ־מִי אוֹ בְּשֶׁם־מִי עֲשִׂיתֶם כָּזֹאת׃ ז Acts Act 4:7 und stellten sie vor sich und fragten sie: Aus welcher Gewalt oder in welchem Namen habt ihr das getan?(dhs) Act 4:7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what power or by what name have you done this?"(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:8 ============ Act 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers and elders of the people,(nas) Act 4:8 τότε πέτρος πλησθεὶς πνεύματος ἁγίου εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, ἄρχοντες τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ πρεσβύτεροι, (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:8 Tunc repletus Spiritu Sancto Petrus, dixit ad eos: Principes populi, et seniores, audite:(vulgate) וּפֶטְרוֹס מָלֵא רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ עָנָה אֹתָם לֵאמֹר שְׁמָעוּנִי שָׂרֵי הָעָם וְהַזְּקֵנִים׃ ח Acts Act 4:8 Petrus, voll des Heiligen Geistes, sprach zu ihnen: Ihr Obersten des Volkes und ihr Ältesten von Israel,(dhs) Act 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:9 ============ Act 4:9 if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well,(nas) Act 4:9 εἰ ἡμεῖς σήμερον ἀνακρινόμεθα ἐπὶ εὐεργεσίᾳ ἀνθρώπου ἀσθενοῦς, ἐν τίνι οὖτος σέσωται, (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:9 si nos hodie dijudicamur in benefacto hominis infirmi, in quo iste salvus factus est,(vulgate) כִּי־נֵחָקֵר הַיּוֹם עַל־אֹדוֹת מַעֲשֶׂה טוֹב לְיָדוּעַ חֹלִי וּבְמִי בָּאַתְהוּ יְשׁוּעָה׃ ט Acts Act 4:9 so wir heute werden gerichtet über dieser Wohltat an dem kranken Menschen, durch welche er ist geheilt worden,(dhs) Act 4:9 If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:10 ============ Act 4:10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead--by this name this man stands here before you in good health.(nas) Act 4:10 γνωστὸν ἔστω πᾶσιν ὑμῖν καὶ παντὶ τῶ λαῶ ἰσραὴλ ὅτι ἐν τῶ ὀνόματι ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ τοῦ ναζωραίου, ὃν ὑμεῖς ἐσταυρώσατε, ὃν ὁ θεὸς ἤγειρεν ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἐν τούτῳ οὖτος παρέστηκεν ἐνώπιον ὑμῶν ὑγιής. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:10 notum sit omnibus vobis, et omni plebi Israël, quia in nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi Nazareni, quem vos crucifixistis, quem Deus suscitavit a mortuis, in hoc iste astat coram vobis sanus.(vulgate) יִוָּדַע לָכֶם כֻּלְּכֶם וּלְכָל־עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי־בְשֵׁם יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ הַנָּצְרִי אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם צְלַבְתֶּם וֵאלֹהִים הֱקִימוֹ מִן־הַמֵּתִים בִּשְׁמוֹ הוּא עֹמֵד לִפְנֵיכֶם בָּרִיא אוּלָם׃ י Acts Act 4:10 so sei euch und allem Volk von Israel kundgetan, daß in dem Namen Jesu Christi von Nazareth, welchen ihr gekreuzigt habt, den Gott von den Toten auferweckt hat, steht dieser allhier vor euch gesund.(dhs) Act 4:10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:11 ============ Act 4:11 "He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone.(nas) Act 4:11 οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ λίθος ὁ ἐξουθενηθεὶς ὑφ᾽ ὑμῶν τῶν οἰκοδόμων, ὁ γενόμενος εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:11 Hic est lapis qui reprobatus est a vobis ædificantibus, qui factus est in caput anguli:(vulgate) זֹאת הִיא הָאֶבֶן אֲשֶׁר מְאַסְתֶּם אַתֶּם הַבּוֹנִים וַתְּהִי לְרֹאשׁ פִּנָּה׃ יא Acts Act 4:11 Das ist der Stein, von euch Bauleuten verworfen, der zum Eckstein geworden ist.(dhs) Act 4:11 This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.'(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:12 ============ Act 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."(nas) Act 4:12 καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν ἄλλῳ οὐδενὶ ἡ σωτηρία, οὐδὲ γὰρ ὄνομά ἐστιν ἕτερον ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανὸν τὸ δεδομένον ἐν ἀνθρώποις ἐν ᾧ δεῖ σωθῆναι ἡμᾶς. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:12 et non est in alio aliquo salus. Nec enim aliud nomen est sub cælo datum hominibus, in quo oporteat nos salvos fieri.~(vulgate) וְאֵין יֶשַׁע בִּלְתּוֹ כִּי לֹא־נִתַּן שֵׁם אַחֵר לִבְנֵי אָדָם תַּחַת הַשָּׁמַיִם אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ נִוָּשֵׁעָה׃ יב Acts Act 4:12 Und ist in keinem andern-Heil, ist auch kein andrer Name unter dem Himmel den Menschen gegeben, darin wir sollen selig werden.(dhs) Act 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:13 ============ Act 4:13 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.(nas) Act 4:13 θεωροῦντες δὲ τὴν τοῦ πέτρου παρρησίαν καὶ ἰωάννου, καὶ καταλαβόμενοι ὅτι ἄνθρωποι ἀγράμματοί εἰσιν καὶ ἰδιῶται, ἐθαύμαζον ἐπεγίνωσκόν τε αὐτοὺς ὅτι σὺν τῶ ἰησοῦ ἦσαν· (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:13 Videntes autem Petri constantiam, et Joannis, comperto quod homines essent sine litteris, et idiotæ, admirabantur, et cognoscebant eos quoniam cum Jesu fuerant:(vulgate) וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר רָאוּ אֹמֶץ לֵב פֶּטְרוֹס וְיוֹחָנָן וְגַם־הֵבִינוּ כִּי הֶדְיוֹטִים הֵם וְלֹא מְלֻמְּדֵי סֵפֶר כֵּן תָּמְהוּ עֲלֵיהֶם וַיַּכִּירוּם כִּי הָיוּ עִם־יֵשׁוּעַ׃ יג Acts Act 4:13 Sie sahen aber an die Freudigkeit des Petrus und Johannes und verwunderten sich; denn sie waren gewiß, daß es ungelehrte Leute und Laien waren, kannten sie auch wohl, daß sie mit Jesu gewesen waren.(dhs) Act 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:14 ============ Act 4:14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply.(nas) Act 4:14 τόν τε ἄνθρωπον βλέποντες σὺν αὐτοῖς ἑστῶτα τὸν τεθεραπευμένον οὐδὲν εἶχον ἀντειπεῖν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:14 hominem quoque videntes stantem cum eis, qui curatus fuerat, nihil poterant contradicere.(vulgate) וּבִרְאֹתָם אֶת־הָאִישׁ הַנִּרְפָּא עֹמֵד עִמָּהֶם לֹא יָכְלוּ לַעֲנוֹת בָּם דָּבָר׃ יד Acts Act 4:14 Sie sahen aber den Menschen, der geheilt worden war, bei ihnen stehen und hatten nichts dawider zu reden.(dhs) Act 4:14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:15 ============ Act 4:15 But when they had ordered them to leave the Council, they began to confer with one another,(nas) Act 4:15 κελεύσαντες δὲ αὐτοὺς ἔξω τοῦ συνεδρίου ἀπελθεῖν συνέβαλλον πρὸς ἀλλήλους (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:15 Jusserunt autem eos foras extra concilium secedere: et conferebant ad invicem,(vulgate) וַיְצַוּוּ אֹתָם לָצֵאת אֶל־מִחוּץ לַסַּנְהֶדְרִין וַיִּוָּעֲצוּ בֵּינֵיהֶם׃ טו Acts Act 4:15 Da hießen sie sie hinausgehen aus dem Rat und handelten miteinander und sprachen:(dhs) Act 4:15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:16 ============ Act 4:16 saying, "What shall we do with these men? For the fact that a noteworthy miracle has taken place through them is apparent to all who live in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.(nas) Act 4:16 λέγοντες, τί ποιήσωμεν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τούτοις; ὅτι μὲν γὰρ γνωστὸν σημεῖον γέγονεν δι᾽ αὐτῶν πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν ἰερουσαλὴμ φανερόν, καὶ οὐ δυνάμεθα ἀρνεῖσθαι· (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:16 dicentes: Quid faciemus hominibus istis? quoniam quidem notum signum factum est per eos omnibus habitantibus Jerusalem: manifestum est, et non possumus negare.(vulgate) וַיֹּאמְרוּ מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה לָאֲנָשִׁים הָאֵלֶּה כִּי מוֹפֵת בָּרוּר נַעֲשָׂה עַל־יְדֵיהֶם גָּלוּי הוּא לְכָל־ישְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלַיִם וְאֵין לְכַחֵשׁ׃ טז Acts Act 4:16 Was wollen wir diesen Menschen tun? Denn das offenbare Zeichen, durch sie geschehen, ist allen kund, die zu Jerusalem wohnen, und wir können's nicht leugnen.(dhs) Act 4:16 saying, "What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:17 ============ Act 4:17 "But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name."(nas) Act 4:17 ἀλλ᾽ ἵνα μὴ ἐπὶ πλεῖον διανεμηθῇ εἰς τὸν λαόν, ἀπειλησώμεθα αὐτοῖς μηκέτι λαλεῖν ἐπὶ τῶ ὀνόματι τούτῳ μηδενὶ ἀνθρώπων. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:17 Sed ne amplius divulgetur in populum, comminemur eis ne ultra loquantur in nomine hoc ulli hominum.(vulgate) אַךְ פֶּן־תִּפְרֹץ הַשְּׁמוּעָה וּפָשְׁתָה בָעָם נִגְעֲרָה בָּם לְבִלְתִּי דַבֵּר עוֹד לְאִישׁ בַּשֵּׁם הַזֶּה׃ יז Acts Act 4:17 Aber auf daß es nicht weiter einreiße unter das Volk, lasset uns ernstlich sie bedrohen, daß sie hinfort keinem Menschen von diesem Namen sagen.(dhs) Act 4:17 But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name."(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:18 ============ Act 4:18 And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.(nas) Act 4:18 καὶ καλέσαντες αὐτοὺς παρήγγειλαν τὸ καθόλου μὴ φθέγγεσθαι μηδὲ διδάσκειν ἐπὶ τῶ ὀνόματι τοῦ ἰησοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:18 Et vocantes eos, denuntiaverunt ne omnino loquerentur neque docerent in nomine Jesu.(vulgate) וַיִּקְרְאוּ אֹתָם וַיְצַוּוּ עֲלֵיהֶם לְבִלְתִּי דַבֵּר דָּבָר וְלֹא לְלַמֵּד בְּשֵׁם יֵשׁוּעַ׃ יח Acts Act 4:18 Und sie riefen sie und geboten ihnen, daß sie sich allerdinge nicht hören ließen noch lehrten in dem Namen Jesu.(dhs) Act 4:18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:19 ============ Act 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge;(nas) Act 4:19 ὁ δὲ πέτρος καὶ ἰωάννης ἀποκριθέντες εἶπον πρὸς αὐτούς, εἰ δίκαιόν ἐστιν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν ἀκούειν μᾶλλον ἢ τοῦ θεοῦ, κρίνατε, (Nestle-Aland) Act 4:19 Petrus vero et Joannes respondentes, dixerunt ad eos: Si justum est in conspectu Dei vos potius audire quam Deum, judicate.(vulgate) וַיַּעֲנוּ אֹתָם פֶּטְרוֹס וְיוֹחָנָן וַיֹּאמְרוּ הֲכִי טוֹב בְּעֵינֵי הָאֱלֹהִים כִּי נִשְׁמַע אֲלֵיכֶם מִשְּׁמֹעַ אֵלָיו שִׁפְטוּ־נָא אַתֶּם׃ יט Acts Act 4:19 Petrus aber und Johannes antworteten und sprachen zu ihnen: Richtet ihr selbst, ob es vor Gott recht sei, daß wir euch mehr gehorchen denn Gott.(dhs) Act 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.(nkjv) ======= Acts 4:20 ============ Act 4:20 for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard."(nas) Act 4:20 οὐ δυνάμεθα γὰρ ἡμεῖς ἃ εἴδαμεν καὶ ἠκούσαμεν μὴ λαλεῖν.
