Today's Date: ======= Acts 6:1 ============ Act 6:1 Now at this time while the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food.(nas) Act 6:1 ἐν δὲ ταῖς ἡμέραις ταύταις πληθυνόντων τῶν μαθητῶν ἐγένετο γογγυσμὸς τῶν ἑλληνιστῶν πρὸς τοὺς ἑβραίους, ὅτι παρεθεωροῦντο ἐν τῇ διακονίᾳ τῇ καθημερινῇ αἱ χῆραι αὐτῶν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:1 In diebus illis, crescente numero discipulorum, factum est murmur Græcorum adversus Hebræos, eo quod despicerentur in ministerio quotidiano viduæ eorum.(vulgate) וְהַתַּלְמִידִים גָּבְרוּ הָלוֹךְ וְגָבֹר בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם וַיִּלֹּנוּ הַתַּלְמִידִים הַיְּוָנִים עַל־הָעִבְרִיִּים לֵאמֹר כִּי הִתְעַלְּמוּ מֵאַלְמְנוֹתֵיהֶם וְלֹא נָתְנוּ לָהֶן יוֹם יוֹם אֶת־מַחְסוֹרָן׃ א Acts Act 6:1 In den Tagen aber, da der Jünger viele wurden, erhob sich ein Murmeln unter den Griechen wider die Hebräer, darum daß ihre Witwen übersehen wurden in der täglichen Handreichung.(dhs) Act 6:1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:2 ============ Act 6:2 So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.(nas) Act 6:2 προσκαλεσάμενοι δὲ οἱ δώδεκα τὸ πλῆθος τῶν μαθητῶν εἶπαν, οὐκ ἀρεστόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς καταλείψαντας τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ διακονεῖν τραπέζαις· (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:2 Convocantes autem duodecim multitudinem discipulorum, dixerunt: Non est æquum nos derelinquere verbum Dei, et ministrare mensis.(vulgate) וַיִּקְרְאוּ שְׁנֵים הֶעָשָׂר אֶל־קְהַל הַתַּלְמִידִים וַיֹּאמְרוּ לֹא־נָכוֹן לָנוּ לַעֲזֹב אֶת־דְּבַר הָאֱלֹהִים וְלַעֲבֹד עֲבֹדַת הַשֻּׁלְחָנוֹת׃ ב Acts Act 6:2 Da riefen die Zwölf die Menge der Jünger zusammen und sprachen: Es taugt nicht, daß wir das Wort Gottes unterlassen und zu Tische dienen.(dhs) Act 6:2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:3 ============ Act 6:3 "Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task.(nas) Act 6:3 ἐπισκέψασθε δέ, ἀδελφοί, ἄνδρας ἐξ ὑμῶν μαρτυρουμένους ἑπτὰ πλήρεις πνεύματος καὶ σοφίας, οὓς καταστήσομεν ἐπὶ τῆς χρείας ταύτης· (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:3 Considerate ergo, fratres, viros ex vobis boni testimonii septem, plenos Spiritu Sancto et sapientia, quos constituamus super hoc opus.(vulgate) עַל־כֵּן אַחֵינוּ לְכוּ חֲזוּ מִכֶּם שִׁבְעָה אֲנָשִׁים יְדֻעִים מְלֵאֵי רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ וּמְלֵאֵי חָכְמָה וְאֹתָם נַפְקִידָה עַל־הָעֲבֹדָה הַזֹּאת׃ ג Acts Act 6:3 Darum, ihr lieben Brüder, sehet unter euch nach sieben Männern, die ein gut Gerücht haben und voll heiligen Geistes und Weisheit sind, welche wir bestellen mögen zu dieser Notdurft.(dhs) Act 6:3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:4 ============ Act 6:4 "But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."(nas) Act 6:4 ἡμεῖς δὲ τῇ προσευχῇ καὶ τῇ διακονίᾳ τοῦ λόγου προσκαρτερήσομεν. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:4 Nos vero orationi et ministerio verbi instantes erimus.(vulgate) וַאֲנַחְנוּ עַל־מִשְׁמֶרֶת הַתְּפִלָּה נַעֲמֹדָה וְעַל־עֲבֹדַת דְּבַר הַבְּשׂוֹרָה׃ ד Acts Act 6:4 Wir aber wollen anhalten am Gebet und am Amt des Wortes.(dhs) Act 6:4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word."(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:5 ============ Act 6:5 The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch.(nas) Act 6:5 καὶ ἤρεσεν ὁ λόγος ἐνώπιον παντὸς τοῦ πλήθους, καὶ ἐξελέξαντο στέφανον, ἄνδρα πλήρης πίστεως καὶ πνεύματος ἁγίου, καὶ φίλιππον καὶ πρόχορον καὶ νικάνορα καὶ τίμωνα καὶ παρμενᾶν καὶ νικόλαον προσήλυτον ἀντιοχέα, (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:5 Et placuit sermo coram omni multitudine. Et elegerunt Stephanum, virum plenum fide et Spiritu Sancto, et Philippum, et Prochorum, et Nicanorem, et Timonem, et Parmenam, et Nicolaum advenam Antiochenum.(vulgate) וַיִּיטַב הַדָּבָר בְּעֵינֵי כָל־הַקָּהָל וַיִּבְחֲרוּ אֶת־סְטְפָנוֹס אִישׁ מָלֵא אֱמוּנָה וְרוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶת־פִּילִפּוֹס וְאֶת־פְּרוֹכוֹרוֹס וְאֶת־נִיקָנוֹר וְאֶת־טִימוֹן וְאֶת־פַּרְמְנָס וְאֶת־נִיקְלָס גֵּר אַנְטְיוֹכְיָא׃ ה Acts Act 6:5 Und die Rede gefiel der ganzen Menge wohl; und sie erwählten Stephanus, einen Mann voll Glaubens und heiligen Geistes, und Philippus und Prochorus und Nikanor und Timon und Parmenas und Nikolaus, den Judengenossen von Antiochien.(dhs) Act 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:6 Hos statuerunt ante conspectum Apostolorum: et orantes imposuerunt eis manus.(vulgate) אֶת־אֵלֶּה הֶעֱמִידוּ לִפְנֵי הַשְּׁלִיחִים וְהֵם הִתְפַּלְּלוּ וְסָמְכוּ אֶת־יְדֵיהֶם עֲלֵיהֶם׃ ו Acts Act 6:6 Diese stellten sie vor die Apostel und beteten und legten die Hände auf sie.(dhs) Act 6:6 whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:7 ============ Act 6:7 The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.(nas) Act 6:7 καὶ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ ηὔξανεν, καὶ ἐπληθύνετο ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν μαθητῶν ἐν ἰερουσαλὴμ σφόδρα, πολύς τε ὄχλος τῶν ἱερέων ὑπήκουον τῇ πίστει. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:7 Et verbum Domini crescebat, et multiplicabatur numerus discipulorum in Jerusalem valde: multa etiam turba sacerdotum obediebat fidei.~(vulgate) וַיְהִי דְבַר אֱלֹהִים הֹלֵךְ הָלֹךְ וּפָרֹץ וּמִסְפַּר הַתַּלְמִידִים הָלוֹךְ וָרָב עַד־מְאֹד בִּירוּשָׁלַיִם וְגַם־הָמוֹן רָב מִן־הַכֹּהֲנִים נָטוּ אַחֲרֵי הָאֱמוּנָה׃ ז Acts Act 6:7 Und das Wort Gottes nahm zu, und die Zahl der Jünger ward sehr groß zu Jerusalem. Es wurden auch viele Priester dem Glauben gehorsam.(dhs) Act 6:7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:8 ============ Act 6:8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.(nas) Act 6:8 στέφανος δὲ πλήρης χάριτος καὶ δυνάμεως ἐποίει τέρατα καὶ σημεῖα μεγάλα ἐν τῶ λαῶ. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:8 Stephanus autem plenus gratia et fortitudine, faciebat prodigia et signa magna in populo.(vulgate) סְטְפָנוֹס אִישׁ מָלֵא חֶסֶד וּגְבוּרָה עָשָׂה אֹתוֹת וּמֹפְתִים גְּדֹלִים בְּקֶרֶב הָעָם׃ ח Acts Act 6:8 Stephanus aber, voll Glaubens und Kräfte, tat Wunder und große Zeichen unter dem Volk.(dhs) Act 6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:9 ============ Act 6:9 But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen.(nas) Act 6:9 ἀνέστησαν δέ τινες τῶν ἐκ τῆς συναγωγῆς τῆς λεγομένης λιβερτίνων καὶ κυρηναίων καὶ ἀλεξανδρέων καὶ τῶν ἀπὸ κιλικίας καὶ ἀσίας συζητοῦντες τῶ στεφάνῳ, (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:9 Surrexerunt autem quidam de synagoga quæ appellatur Libertinorum, et Cyrenensium, et Alexandrinorum, et eorum qui erant a Cilicia, et Asia, disputantes cum Stephano:(vulgate) וַיָּקוּמוּ אֲנָשִׁים מִבֵּית־הַכְּנֵסֶת אֲשֶׁר עַל־שֵׁם־הַלִּיבַרְטִינִים יֵחָשֵׁב וְהַקּוּרִינִים וְהָאֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרִיִּים וּמִן־בְּנֵי קִילִיקִיָּא וְאַסְיָּא וַיִתְוַכְּחוּ עִם־סְטְפָנוֹס׃ ט Acts Act 6:9 Da standen etliche auf von der Schule, die da heißt der Libertiner und der Kyrener und der Alexanderer, und derer, die aus Zilizien und Asien waren, und befragten sich mit Stephanus.(dhs) Act 6:9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:10 ============ Act 6:10 But they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.(nas) Act 6:10 καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυον ἀντιστῆναι τῇ σοφίᾳ καὶ τῶ πνεύματι ᾧ ἐλάλει. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:10 et non poterant resistere sapientiæ, et Spiritui qui loquebatur.(vulgate) וְלֹא יָכְלוּ לְהָשִׁיב עַל־דִּבְרֵי חָכְמָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר־הִבִּיעַ לָהֶם רוּחוֹ׃ י Acts Act 6:10 Und sie vermochten nicht, zu widerstehen der Weisheit und dem Geiste, aus welchem er redete.(dhs) Act 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:11 ============ Act 6:11 Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God."(nas) Act 6:11 τότε ὑπέβαλον ἄνδρας λέγοντας ὅτι ἀκηκόαμεν αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ῥήματα βλάσφημα εἰς μωϊσῆν καὶ τὸν θεόν· (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:11 Tunc summiserunt viros, qui dicerent se audivisse eum dicentem verba blasphemiæ in Moysen et in Deum.(vulgate) וַיּוֹשִׁיבוּ אֲנָשִׁים נֶגְדּוֹ אֲשֶׁר הֵעִדֻהוּ לֵאמֹר שָׁמַעְנוּ אֹתוֹ מְדַבֵּר דִּבְרֵי גִדּוּפִים בְּמֹשֶׁה וּבֵאלֹהִים׃ יא Acts Act 6:11 Da richteten sie zu etliche Männer, die sprachen: Wir haben ihn gehört Lästerworte reden wider Mose und wider Gott.(dhs) Act 6:11 Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God."(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:12 ============ Act 6:12 And they stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they came up to him and dragged him away and brought him before the Council.(nas) Act 6:12 συνεκίνησάν τε τὸν λαὸν καὶ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους καὶ τοὺς γραμματεῖς, καὶ ἐπιστάντες συνήρπασαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἤγαγον εἰς τὸ συνέδριον, (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:12 Commoverunt itaque plebem, et seniores, et scribas: et concurrentes rapuerunt eum, et adduxerunt in concilium,(vulgate) וַיְעוֹרְרוּ אֶת־הָעָם וְאֶת־הַזְּקֵנִים וְאֶת־הַסּוֹפְרִים וַיָּקוּמוּ עָלָיו וַיִּתְפְּשֻׂהוּ וַיְבִיאֻהוּ לִפְנֵי הַסַּנְהֶדְרִין׃ יב Acts Act 6:12 Und sie bewegten das Volk und die Ältesten und die Schriftgelehrten und traten herzu und rissen ihn hin und führten ihn vor den Rat(dhs) Act 6:12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council.(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:13 ============ Act 6:13 They put forward false witnesses who said, "This man incessantly speaks against this holy place and the Law;(nas) Act 6:13 ἔστησάν τε μάρτυρας ψευδεῖς λέγοντας, ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὖτος οὐ παύεται λαλῶν ῥήματα κατὰ τοῦ τόπου τοῦ ἁγίου [τούτου] καὶ τοῦ νόμου· (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:13 et statuerunt falsos testes, qui dicerent: Homo iste non cessat loqui verba adversus locum sanctum, et legem:(vulgate) וַיּוֹשִׁיבוּ עֵדֵי־שֶׁקֶר וַיְעִידֻהוּ לֵאמֹר הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה לֹא יֶחְדַּל מִדַּבֵּר גִּדּוּפִים עַל־הַמָּקוֹם הַקָּדוֹשׁ הַזֶּה וְעַל־הַתּוֹרָה׃ יג Acts Act 6:13 und stellten falsche Zeugen dar, die sprachen: Dieser Mensch hört nicht auf, zu reden Lästerworte wider diese heilige Stätte und das Gesetz.(dhs) Act 6:13 They also set up false witnesses who said, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law;(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:14 ============ Act 6:14 for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and alter the customs which Moses handed down to us."(nas) Act 6:14 ἀκηκόαμεν γὰρ αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ὅτι ἰησοῦς ὁ ναζωραῖος οὖτος καταλύσει τὸν τόπον τοῦτον καὶ ἀλλάξει τὰ ἔθη ἃ παρέδωκεν ἡμῖν μωϊσῆς. (Nestle-Aland) Act 6:14 audivimus enim eum dicentem quoniam Jesus Nazarenus hic destruet locum istum, et mutabit traditiones quas tradidit nobis Moyses.(vulgate) כִּי שָׁמַעְנוּ אֹתוֹ אֹמֵר יֵשׁוּעַ הַנָּצְרִי הוּא יַהֲרוֹס אֶת־הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה וְיָמִיר אֶת־הַחֻקִּים אֲשֶׁר נָתַן־לָנוּ מֹשֶׁה׃ יד Acts Act 6:14 Denn wir haben ihn hören sagen: Jesus von Nazareth wird diese Stätte zerstören und ändern die Sitten, die uns Mose gegeben hat.(dhs) Act 6:14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us."(nkjv) ======= Acts 6:15 ============ Act 6:15 And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw his face like the face of an angel.(nas) Act 6:15 καὶ ἀτενίσαντες εἰς αὐτὸν πάντες οἱ καθεζόμενοι ἐν τῶ συνεδρίῳ εἶδον τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ πρόσωπον ἀγγέλου.
