I do not know the Lord, and besides, I will not let Israel go."(nas) Exo 5:2 καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω τίς ἐστιν οὗ εἰσακούσομαι τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ὥστε ἐξαποστεῖλαι τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ οὐκ οἶδα τὸν κύριον καὶ τὸν Ισραηλ οὐκ ἐξαποστέλλω (lxx) Exo 5:2 At ille respondit: Quis est Dominus, ut audiam vocem ejus, et dimittam Israël? nescio Dominum, et Israël non dimittam.(vulgate) Exodus 5:2 And Pharaoh saide, Who is the Lorde, that I should heare his voyce, & let Israel go? I knowe not the Lord, neither will I let Israel goe.(Geneva) Exo 5:2 Pharao antwortete: Wer ist der HERR, des Stimme ich hören müsse und Israel ziehen lassen? Please, let us go a three days' journey into the wilderness that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, otherwise He will fall upon us with pestilence or with the sword."(nas) Exo 5:3 καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς τῶν Εβραίων προσκέκληται ἡμᾶς πορευσόμεθα οὖν ὁδὸν τριῶν ἡμερῶν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὅπως θύσωμεν τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν μήποτε συναντήσῃ ἡμῖν θάνατος ἢ φόνος (lxx) Exo 5:3 Dixeruntque: Deus Hebræorum vocavit nos, ut eamus viam trium dierum in solitudinem, et sacrificemus Domino Deo nostro: ne forte accidat nobis pestis aut gladius.(vulgate) Exodus 5:3 And they saide, We worship the God of the Ebrewes: we pray thee, let vs goe three daies iourney in the desert, and sacrifice vnto the Lord our God, least he bring vpon vs the pestilence or sword.(Geneva) Exo 5:3 Sie sprachen: Der Hebräer Gott hat uns gerufen; so laß uns nun hinziehen drei Tagereisen in die Wüste und dem HERRN, unserm Gott, opfern, daß uns nicht widerfahre Pestilenz oder Schwert.(dhs) Exo 5:3 So they said, "The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Get back to your labors!"(nas) Exo 5:4 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου ἵνα τί Μωυσῆ καὶ Ααρων διαστρέφετε τὸν λαόν μου ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων ἀπέλθατε ἕκαστος ὑμῶν πρὸς τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ (lxx) Exo 5:4 Ait ad eos rex Ægypti: Quare Moyses et Aaron sollicitatis populum ab operibus suis? ite ad onera vestra.~(vulgate) Exodus 5:4 Then saide the King of Egypt vnto them, Moses & Aaron, why cause ye the people to cease from their workes? get you to your burdens.(Geneva) Exo 5:4 Da sprach der König in Ägypten zu ihnen: Du Mose und Aaron, warum wollt ihr das Volk von seiner Arbeit frei machen? Let them go and gather straw for themselves.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:8 ============ Exo 5:8 But the quota of bricks which they were making previously, you shall impose on them; you are not to reduce any of it. Because they are lazy, therefore they cry out, 'Let us go and sacrifice to our God.'(nas) Exo 5:8 καὶ τὴν σύνταξιν τῆς πλινθείας ἧς αὐτοὶ ποιοῦσιν καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν ἐπιβαλεῖς αὐτοῖς οὐκ ἀφελεῖς οὐδέν σχολάζουσιν γάρ διὰ τοῦτο κεκράγασιν λέγοντες πορευθῶμεν καὶ θύσωμεν τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν (lxx) Exo 5:8 Et mensuram laterum, quam prius faciebant, imponetis super eos, nec minuetis quidquam: vacant enim, et idcirco vociferantur, dicentes: Eamus, et sacrificemus Deo nostro.(vulgate) Exodus 5:8 Notwithstanding lay vpon them the nober of bricke, which they made in time past, diminish nothing thereof: for they be idle, therefore they crie, saying, Let vs go to offer sacrifice vnto our God.(Geneva) Exo 5:8 und die Zahl der Ziegel, die sie bisher gemacht haben, sollt ihr ihnen gleichwohl auflegen und nichts mindern; denn sie gehen müßig, darum schreien sie und sprechen: Wir wollen hinziehen und unserm Gott opfern.(dhs) Exo 5:8 And you shall lay on them the quota of bricks which they made before. For they are idle; therefore they cry out, saying, 'Let us go and sacrifice to our God.'(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:9 ============ Exo 5:9 Let the labor be heavier on the men, and let them work at it so that they will pay no attention to false words."(nas) Exo 5:9 βαρυνέσθω τὰ ἔργα τῶν ἀνθρώπων τούτων καὶ μεριμνάτωσαν ταῦτα καὶ μὴ μεριμνάτωσαν ἐν λόγοις κενοῖς (lxx) Exo 5:9 Opprimantur operibus, et expleant ea: ut non acquiescant verbis mendacibus.(vulgate) Exodus 5:9 Lay more worke vpon the men, & cause them to do it, & let the not regard vaine words.(Geneva) Exo 5:9 Man drücke die Leute mit Arbeit, daß sie zu schaffen haben und sich nicht kehren an falsche Rede.(dhs) Exo 5:9 Let more work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it, and let them not regard false words."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:10 ============ Exo 5:10 So the taskmasters of the people and their foremen went out and spoke to the people, saying, "Thus says Pharaoh, 'I am not going to give you any straw.(nas) Exo 5:10 κατέσπευδον δὲ αὐτοὺς οἱ ἐργοδιῶκται καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ ἔλεγον πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγοντες τάδε λέγει Φαραω οὐκέτι δίδωμι ὑμῖν ἄχυρα (lxx) Exo 5:10 Igitur egressi præfecti operum et exactores ad populum, dixerunt: Sic dicit Pharao: Non do vobis paleas:(vulgate) Exodus 5:10 Then went the taskemasters of the people and their officers out, and tolde the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will giue you no more strawe.(Geneva) Exo 5:10 Da gingen die Vögte des Volkes und ihre Amtleute aus und sprachen zum Volk: So spricht Pharao: Man wird euch kein Stroh geben;(dhs) Exo 5:10 And the taskmasters of the people and their officers went out and spoke to the people, saying, "Thus says Pharaoh: 'I will not give you straw.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:11 ============ Exo 5:11 You go and get straw for yourselves wherever you can find it, but none of your labor will be reduced.'"(nas) Exo 5:11 αὐτοὶ ὑμεῖς πορευόμενοι συλλέγετε ἑαυτοῖς ἄχυρα ὅθεν ἐὰν εὕρητε οὐ γὰρ ἀφαιρεῖται ἀπὸ τῆς συντάξεως ὑμῶν οὐθέν (lxx) Exo 5:11 ite, et colligite sicubi invenire poteritis, nec minuetur quidquam de opere vestro.(vulgate) Exodus 5:11 Goe your selues, get you strawe where yee can finde it, yet shall nothing of your labour bee diminished.(Geneva) Exo 5:11 geht ihr selbst hin und sammelt euch Stroh, wo ihr's findet; aber von eurer Arbeit soll nichts gemindert werden.(dhs) Exo 5:11 Go, get yourselves straw where you can find it; yet none of your work will be reduced.' "(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:12 ============ Exo 5:12 So the people scattered through all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.(nas) Exo 5:12 καὶ διεσπάρη ὁ λαὸς ἐν ὅλῃ Αἰγύπτῳ συναγαγεῖν καλάμην εἰς ἄχυρα (lxx) Exo 5:12 Dispersusque est populus per omnem terram Ægypti ad colligendas paleas.(vulgate) Exodus 5:12 Then were the people scattered abroade throughout all the land of Egypt, for to gather stubble in steade of strawe.(Geneva) Exo 5:12 Da zerstreute sich das Volk ins ganze Land Ägypten, daß es Stoppeln sammelte, damit sie Stroh hätten.(dhs) Exo 5:12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:13 ============ Exo 5:13 The taskmasters pressed them, saying, "Complete your work quota, your daily amount, just as when you had straw."(nas) Exo 5:13 οἱ δὲ ἐργοδιῶκται κατέσπευδον αὐτοὺς λέγοντες συντελεῖτε τὰ ἔργα τὰ καθήκοντα καθ᾽ ἡμέραν καθάπερ καὶ ὅτε τὸ ἄχυρον ἐδίδοτο ὑμῖν (lxx) Exo 5:13 Præfecti quoque operum instabant, dicentes: Complete opus vestrum quotidie, ut prius facere solebatis quando dabantur vobis paleæ.(vulgate) Exodus 5:13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Finish your dayes worke euery dayes taske, as ye did when ye had strawe.(Geneva) Exo 5:13 Und die Vögte trieben sie und sprachen: Erfüllet euer Tagewerk, gleich als da ihr Stroh hattet.(dhs) Exo 5:13 And the taskmasters forced them to hurry, saying, "Fulfill your work, your daily quota, as when there was straw."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:14 ============ Exo 5:14 Moreover, the foremen of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and were asked, "Why have you not completed your required amount either yesterday or today in making brick as previously?"(nas) Exo 5:14 καὶ ἐμαστιγώθησαν οἱ γραμματεῖς τοῦ γένους τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ οἱ κατασταθέντες ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς ὑπὸ τῶν ἐπιστατῶν τοῦ Φαραω λέγοντες διὰ τί οὐ συνετελέσατε τὰς συντάξεις ὑμῶν τῆς πλινθείας καθάπερ ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν καὶ τὸ τῆς σήμερον (lxx) Exo 5:14 Flagellatique sunt qui præerant operibus filiorum Israël, ab exactoribus Pharaonis, dicentibus: Quare non impletis mensuram laterum sicut prius, nec heri, nec hodie?(vulgate) Exodus 5:14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaohs taskemasters had set ouer them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore haue ye not fulfilled your taske in making bricke yesterday and to daye, as in times past?(Geneva) Exo 5:14 Und die Amtleute der Kinder Israel, welche die Vögte Pharaos über sie gesetzt hatten, wurden geschlagen, und ward zu ihnen gesagt: Warum habt ihr weder heute noch gestern euer gesetztes Tagewerk getan wie bisher?(dhs) Exo 5:14 Also the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and were asked, "Why have you not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and today, as before?"(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:15 ============ Exo 5:15 Then the foremen of the sons of Israel came and cried out to Pharaoh, saying, "Why do you deal this way with your servants?(nas) Exo 5:15 εἰσελθόντες δὲ οἱ γραμματεῖς τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ κατεβόησαν πρὸς Φαραω λέγοντες ἵνα τί οὕτως ποιεῖς τοῖς σοῖς οἰκέταις (lxx) Exo 5:15 Veneruntque præpositi filiorum Israël, et vociferati sunt ad Pharaonem dicentes: Cur ita agis contra servos tuos?(vulgate) Exodus 5:15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came, & cryed vnto Pharaoh, saying, Wherfore dealest thou thus with thy seruants?(Geneva) Exo 5:15 Da gingen hinein die Amtleute der Kinder Israel und schrien zu Pharao: Warum willst du mit deinen Knechten also fahren?(dhs) Exo 5:15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried out to Pharaoh, saying, "Why are you dealing thus with your servants?(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:16 ============ Exo 5:16 There is no straw given to your servants, yet they keep saying to us, 'Make bricks!' And behold, your servants are being beaten; but it is the fault of your own people."(nas) Exo 5:16 ἄχυρον οὐ δίδοται τοῖς οἰκέταις σου καὶ τὴν πλίνθον ἡμῖν λέγουσιν ποιεῖν καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ παῖδές σου μεμαστίγωνται ἀδικήσεις οὖν τὸν λαόν σου (lxx) Exo 5:16 paleæ non dantur nobis, et lateres similiter imperantur: en famuli tui flagellis cædimur, et injuste agitur contra populum tuum.(vulgate) Exodus 5:16 There is no strawe giuen to thy seruantes, and they say vnto vs, Make bricke: and loe, thy seruants are beaten, and thy people is blamed.(Geneva) Exo 5:16 Man gibt den Knechten kein Stroh, und sie sollen die Ziegel machen, die uns bestimmt sind; siehe deine Knechte werden geschlagen, und dein Volk muß schuldig sein.(dhs) Exo 5:16 There is no straw given to your servants, and they say to us, 'Make brick!' Therefore you say, 'Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.'(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:18 ============ Exo 5:18 So go now and work; for you will be given no straw, yet you must deliver the quota of bricks."(nas) Exo 5:18 νῦν οὖν πορευθέντες ἐργάζεσθε τὸ γὰρ ἄχυρον οὐ δοθήσεται ὑμῖν καὶ τὴν σύνταξιν τῆς πλινθείας ἀποδώσετε (lxx) Exo 5:18 Ite ergo, et operamini: paleæ non dabuntur vobis, et reddetis consuetum numerum laterum.(vulgate) Exodus 5:18 Goe therefore nowe and worke: for there shall no strawe be giuen you, yet shall yee deliuer the whole tale of bricke.(Geneva) Exo 5:18 So gehet nun hin und frönt; Stroh soll man euch nicht geben, aber die Anzahl der Ziegel sollt ihr schaffen.(dhs) Exo 5:18 Therefore go now and work; for no straw shall be given you, yet you shall deliver the quota of bricks."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:19 ============ Exo 5:19 The foremen of the sons of Israel saw that they were in trouble because they were told, "You must not reduce your daily amount of bricks."(nas) Exo 5:19 ἑώρων δὲ οἱ γραμματεῖς τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἑαυτοὺς ἐν κακοῖς λέγοντες οὐκ ἀπολείψετε τῆς πλινθείας τὸ καθῆκον τῇ ἡμέρᾳ (lxx) Exo 5:19 Videbantque se præpositi filiorum Israël in malo, eo quod diceretur eis: Non minuetur quidquam de lateribus per singulos dies.(vulgate) Exodus 5:19 Then the officers of the children of Israel sawe them selues in an euill case, because it was saide, Ye shall diminish nothing of your bricke, nor of euery dayes taske.(Geneva) Exo 5:19 Da sahen die Amtleute der Kinder Israel, daß es ärger ward, weil man sagte: Ihr sollt nichts mindern von dem Tagewerk an den Ziegeln.(dhs) Exo 5:19 And the officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble after it was said, "You shall not reduce any bricks from your daily quota."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:20 ============ Exo 5:20 When they left Pharaoh's presence, they met Moses and Aaron as they were waiting for them.(nas) Exo 5:20 συνήντησαν δὲ Μωυσῇ καὶ Ααρων ἐρχομένοις εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς ἐκπορευομένων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Φαραω (lxx) Exo 5:20 Occurreruntque Moysi et Aaron, qui stabant ex adverso, egredientibus a Pharaone:(vulgate) Exodus 5:20 And they met Moses and Aaron, which stood in their way as they came out fro Pharaoh,(Geneva) Exo 5:20 Und da sie von Pharao gingen, begegneten sie Mose und Aaron und traten ihnen entgegen(dhs) Exo 5:20 Then, as they came out from Pharaoh, they met Moses and Aaron who stood there to meet them.(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:21 ============ Exo 5:21 They said to them, "May the Lord look upon you and judge you, for you have made us odious in Pharaoh's sight and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us."(nas) Exo 5:21 καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς ἴδοι ὁ θεὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ κρίναι ὅτι ἐβδελύξατε τὴν ὀσμὴν ἡμῶν ἐναντίον Φαραω καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν θεραπόντων αὐτοῦ δοῦναι ῥομφαίαν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἀποκτεῖναι ἡμᾶς (lxx) Exo 5:21 et dixerunt ad eos: Videat Dominus et judicet, quoniam fœtere fecistis odorem nostrum coram Pharaone et servis ejus, et præbuistis ei gladium, ut occideret nos.(vulgate) Exodus 5:21 To whom they said, The Lord looke vpon you and iudge: for yee haue made our sauour to stinke before Pharaoh and before his seruants, in that ye haue put a sword in their hand to slay vs.(Geneva) Exo 5:21 und sprachen zu ihnen: Der HERR sehe auf euch und richte es, daß ihr unsern Geruch habt stinkend gemacht vor Pharao und seinen Knechten und habt ihnen das Schwert in die Hände gegeben, uns zu töten.(dhs) Exo 5:21 And they said to them, "Let the Lord look on you and judge, because you have made us abhorrent in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us."(nkjv) ======= Exodus 5:22 ============ Exo 5:22 Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, "O Lord, why have You brought harm to this people?
