So they sat down.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:3 ============ Rut 4:3 Then he said to the closest relative, "Naomi, who has come back from the land of Moab, has to sell the piece of land which belonged to our brother Elimelech.(nas) Rut 4:3 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τῷ ἀγχιστεῖ τὴν μερίδα τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἥ ἐστιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ἡμῶν τοῦ Αβιμελεχ ἣ δέδοται Νωεμιν τῇ ἐπιστρεφούσῃ ἐξ ἀγροῦ Μωαβ (lxx) Rut 4:3 Quibus sedentibus, locutus est ad propinquum: Partem agri fratris nostri Elimelech vendet Noëmi, quæ reversa est de regione Moabitide:(vulgate) Ruth 4:3 And he said vnto ye kinsman, Naomi, that is come againe out of ye countrey of Moab, wil sell a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelechs.(Geneva) Rut 4:3 Da sprach er zu dem Erben: Naemi, die vom Lande der Moabiter wiedergekommen ist, bietet feil das Stück Feld, das unsers Bruders war, Elimelechs.(dhs) Rut 4:3 Then he said to the close relative, "Naomi, who has come back from the country of Moab, sold the piece of land which belonged to our brother Elimelech.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:4 ============ Rut 4:4 So I thought to inform you, saying, 'Buy it before those who are sitting here, and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if not, tell me that I may know; for there is no one but you to redeem it, and I am after you.'" And he said, "I will redeem it."(nas) Rut 4:4 κἀγὼ εἶπα ἀποκαλύψω τὸ οὖς σου λέγων κτῆσαι ἐναντίον τῶν καθημένων καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ μου εἰ ἀγχιστεύεις ἀγχίστευε εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀγχιστεύεις ἀνάγγειλόν μοι καὶ γνώσομαι ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν πάρεξ σοῦ τοῦ ἀγχιστεῦσαι κἀγώ εἰμι μετὰ σέ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ εἰμι ἀγχιστεύσω (lxx) Rut 4:4 quod audire te volui, et tibi dicere coram cunctis sedentibus, et majoribus natu de populo meo. Si vis possidere jure propinquitatis, eme, et posside: sin autem displicet tibi, hoc ipsum indica mihi, ut sciam quid facere debeam: nullus enim est propinquus, excepto te, qui prior es, et me, qui secundus sum. At ille respondit: Ego agrum emam.(vulgate) Ruth 4:4 And I thought to aduertise thee, saying, Buy it before the assistants, & before the Elders of my people. If thou wilt redeeme it, redeeme it: but if thou wilt not redeeme it, tel me: for I know that there is none besides thee to redeeme it, & I am after thee. Then he answered, I wil redeeme it.(Geneva) Rut 4:4 Darum gedachte ich's vor deine Ohren zu bringen und zu sagen: Willst du es beerben, so kaufe es vor den Bürgern und vor den Ältesten meines Volkes; willst du es aber nicht beerben, so sage mir's, daß ich's wisse. Denn es ist kein Erbe außer dir und ich nach dir. " And he said, "I will redeem it."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:5 ============ Rut 4:5 Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also acquire Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the deceased, in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance."(nas) Rut 4:5 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ κτήσασθαί σε τὸν ἀγρὸν ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν καὶ παρὰ Ρουθ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος γυναικὸς τοῦ τεθνηκότος καὶ αὐτὴν κτήσασθαί σε δεῖ ὥστε ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ (lxx) Rut 4:5 Cui dixit Booz: Quando emeris agrum de manu mulieris, Ruth quoque Moabitidem, quæ uxor defuncti fuit, debes accipere: ut suscites nomen propinqui tui in hæreditate sua.(vulgate) Ruth 4:5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou mnst also buy it of Ruth the Moabitesse the wife of the dead, to stirre vp the name of the dead, vpon his inheritance.(Geneva) Rut 4:5 Boas sprach: Welches Tages du das Feld kaufst von der Hand Naemis, so mußt du auch Rut die Moabitin, des Verstorbenen Weib, nehmen, daß du dem Verstorbenen einen Namen erweckst auf seinem Erbteil.(dhs) Rut 4:5 Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also buy it from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to perpetuate the name of the dead through his inheritance."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:6 ============ Rut 4:6 The closest relative said, "I cannot redeem it for myself, because I would jeopardize my own inheritance. Redeem it for yourself; you may have my right of redemption, for I cannot redeem it."(nas) Rut 4:6 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεύς οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι ἐμαυτῷ μήποτε διαφθείρω τὴν κληρονομίαν μου ἀγχίστευσον σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου ὅτι οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι (lxx) Rut 4:6 Qui respondit: Cedo juri propinquitatis: neque enim posteritatem familiæ meæ delere debeo: tu meo utere privilegio, quo me libenter carere profiteor.(vulgate) Ruth 4:6 And the kinsman answered, I can not redeeme it, lest I destroy mine owne inheritance: redeeme my right to thee, for I can not redeeme it.(Geneva) Rut 4:6 Da sprach er: Ich vermag es nicht zu beerben, daß ich nicht vielleicht mein Erbteil verderbe. You redeem my right of redemption for yourself, for I cannot redeem it."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:7 ============ Rut 4:7 Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning the redemption and the exchange of land to confirm any matter: a man removed his sandal and gave it to another; and this was the manner of attestation in Israel.(nas) Rut 4:7 καὶ τοῦτο τὸ δικαίωμα ἔμπροσθεν ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ ἀντάλλαγμα τοῦ στῆσαι πᾶν λόγον καὶ ὑπελύετο ὁ ἀνὴρ τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδίδου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ τῷ ἀγχιστεύοντι τὴν ἀγχιστείαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῦτο ἦν μαρτύριον ἐν Ισραηλ (lxx) Rut 4:7 Hic autem erat mos antiquitus in Israël inter propinquos, ut siquando alter alteri suo juri cedebat, ut esset firma concessio, solvebat homo calceamentum suum, et dabat proximo suo: hoc erat testimonium cessionis in Israël.(vulgate) Ruth 4:7 Now this was the maner beforetime in Israel, concerning redeeming and changing, for to stablish all things: a man did plucke off his shooe, and gaue it his neighbour, and this was a sure witnes in Israel.(Geneva) Rut 4:7 Und es war von alters her eine solche Gewohnheit in Israel: wenn einer ein Gut nicht beerben noch erkaufen wollte, auf daß eine Sache bestätigt würde, so zog er seinen Schuh aus und gab ihn dem andern; das war das Zeugnis in Israel.(dhs) Rut 4:7 Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning redeeming and exchanging, to confirm anything: one man took off his sandal and gave it to the other, and this was a confirmation in Israel.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:8 ============ Rut 4:8 So the closest relative said to Boaz, "Buy it for yourself." Quod statim solvit de pede suo.(vulgate) Ruth 4:8 Therefore the kinsman sayd to Boas, Buy it for thee: and he drew off his shooe.(Geneva) Rut 4:8 Und der Erbe sprach zu Boas: Kaufe du es! und zog seinen Schuh aus.(dhs) Rut 4:8 Therefore the close relative said to Boaz, "Buy it for yourself." The Lord make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:12 ============ Rut 4:12 Moreover, may your house be like the house of Perez whom Tamar bore to Judah, through the offspring which the Lord will give you by this young woman."(nas) Rut 4:12 καὶ γένοιτο ὁ οἶκός σου ὡς ὁ οἶκος Φαρες ὃν ἔτεκεν Θαμαρ τῷ Ιουδα ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος οὗ δώσει κύριός σοι ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης (lxx) Rut 4:12 fiatque domus tua sicut domus Phares, quem Thamar peperit Judæ, de semine quod tibi dederit Dominus ex hac puella.~(vulgate) Ruth 4:12 And that thine house be like the house of Pharez ( whom Thamar bare vnto Iudah) of the seede which the Lord shall giue thee of this yong woman.(Geneva) Rut 4:12 Und dein Haus werde wie das Haus des Perez, den Thamar dem Juda gebar, von dem Samen, den dir der HERR geben wird von dieser Dirne.(dhs) Rut 4:12 May your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring which the Lord will give you from this young woman."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:13 ============ Rut 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.(nas) Rut 4:13 καὶ ἔλαβεν Βοος τὴν Ρουθ καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτήν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ κύριος κύησιν καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν (lxx) Rut 4:13 Tulit itaque Booz Ruth, et accepit uxorem: ingressusque est ad eam, et dedit illi Dominus ut conciperet, et pareret filium.(vulgate) Ruth 4:13 So Boaz tooke Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in vnto her, the Lorde gaue that she conceiued, and bare a sonne.(Geneva) Rut 4:13 Also nahm Boas die Rut daß sie sein Weib ward. Und da er zu ihr einging, gab ihr der HERR, daß sie schwanger ward und gebar einen Sohn.(dhs) Rut 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:14 ============ Rut 4:14 Then the women said to Naomi, "Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer today, and may his name become famous in Israel.(nas) Rut 4:14 καὶ εἶπαν αἱ γυναῖκες πρὸς Νωεμιν εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὃς οὐ κατέλυσέ σοι σήμερον τὸν ἀγχιστέα καὶ καλέσαι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐν Ισραηλ (lxx) Rut 4:14 Dixeruntque mulieres ad Noëmi: Benedictus Dominus, qui non est passus ut deficeret successor familiæ tuæ, et vocaretur nomen ejus in Israël:(vulgate) Ruth 4:14 And the women sayd vnto Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, and his name shalbe continued in Israel.(Geneva) Rut 4:14 Da sprachen die Weiber zu Naemi: Gelobt sei der HERR, der dir nicht hat lassen abgehen einen Erben zu dieser Zeit, daß sein Name in Israel bliebe.(dhs) Rut 4:14 Then the women said to Naomi, "Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel!(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:15 ============ Rut 4:15 May he also be to you a restorer of life and a sustainer of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him." (nas) Rut 4:15 καὶ ἔσται σοι εἰς ἐπιστρέφοντα ψυχὴν καὶ τοῦ διαθρέψαι τὴν πολιάν σου ὅτι ἡ νύμφη σου ἡ ἀγαπήσασά σε ἔτεκεν αὐτόν ἥ ἐστιν ἀγαθή σοι ὑπὲρ ἑπτὰ υἱούς (lxx) Rut 4:15 et habeas qui consoletur animam tuam, et enutriat senectutem: de nuru enim tua natus est, quæ te diligit, et multo tibi melior est, quam si septem haberes filios.(vulgate) Ruth 4:15 And this shall bring thy life againe, and cherish thine olde age: for thy daughter in lawe which loueth thee, hath borne vnto him, and she is better to thee then seuen sonnes.(Geneva) Rut 4:15 Der wir dich erquicken und dein Alter versorgen. So they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.(nas) Rut 4:17 καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτοῦ αἱ γείτονες ὄνομα λέγουσαι ἐτέχθη υἱὸς τῇ Νωεμιν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ωβηδ οὗτος πατὴρ Ιεσσαι πατρὸς Δαυιδ (lxx) Rut 4:17 Vicinæ autem mulieris congratulantes ei, et dicentes: Natus est filius Noëmi: vocaverunt nomen ejus Obed: hic est pater Isai, patris David.(vulgate) Ruth 4:17 And the women her neighbours gaue it a name, saying, There is a childe borne to Naomi, and called the name thereof Obed: the same was the father of Ishai, the father of Dauid.(Geneva) Rut 4:17 Und ihre Nachbarinnen gaben ihm einen Namen und sprachen: Naemi ist ein Kind geboren; und hießen ihn Obed.
