Today's Date: Job 1:22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:1 ============ Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord.(nas) Job 2:1 ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ἄγγελοι τοῦ θεοῦ παραστῆναι ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ ὁ διάβολος ἦλθεν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν παραστῆναι ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου (lxx) Job 2:1 Factum est autem, cum quadam die venissent filii Dei, et starent coram Domino, venisset quoque Satan inter eos, et staret in conspectu ejus,(vulgate) Job 2:1 And on a day the children of God came and stood before the Lord, and Satan came also among them, and stoode before the Lord.(Geneva) Job 2:1 Es begab sich aber des Tages, da die Kinder Gottes kamen und traten vor den HERRN, daß der Satan auch unter ihnen kam und vor den HERRN trat.(dhs) Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:2 ============ Job 2:2 The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered the Lord and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."(nas) Job 2:2 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ πόθεν σὺ ἔρχῃ τότε εἶπεν ὁ διάβολος ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου διαπορευθεὶς τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανὸν καὶ ἐμπεριπατήσας τὴν σύμπασαν πάρειμι (lxx) Job 2:2 ut diceret Dominus ad Satan: Unde venis? Qui respondens ait: Circuivi terram, et perambulavi eam.(vulgate) Job 2:2 Then the Lord sayde vnto Satan, Whence commest thou? And Satan answered the Lorde, and sayd, From compassing the earth to and fro, and from walking in it.(Geneva) Job 2:2 Da sprach der HERR zu dem Satan: Wo kommst du her? Der Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Ich habe das Land umher durchzogen.(dhs) Job 2:2 And the Lord said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the Lord and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it."(nkjv) ======= Job 2:3 ============ Job 2:3 The Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause."(nas) Job 2:3 εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος πρὸς τὸν διάβολον προσέσχες οὖν τῷ θεράποντί μου Ιωβ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατ᾽ αὐτὸν τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἄνθρωπος ἄκακος ἀληθινός ἄμεμπτος θεοσεβής ἀπεχόμενος ἀπὸ παντὸς κακοῦ ἔτι δὲ ἔχεται ἀκακίας σὺ δὲ εἶπας τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ διὰ κενῆς ἀπολέσαι (lxx) Job 2:3 Et dixit Dominus ad Satan: Numquid considerasti servum meum Job, quod non sit ei similis in terra, vir simplex et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo, et adhuc retinens innocentiam? tu autem commovisti me adversus eum, ut affligerem eum frustra.(vulgate) Job 2:3 And the Lord sayd vnto Satan, Hast thou not considered my seruant Iob, how none is like him in the earth? an vpright and iust man, one that feareth God, and escheweth euill? for yet he continueth in his vprightnesse, although thou mouedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.(Geneva) Job 2:3 Der HERR sprach zu dem Satan: Hast du nicht acht auf meinen Knecht Hiob gehabt? Denn es ist seinesgleichen im Lande nicht, schlecht und recht, gottesfürchtig und meidet das Böse und hält noch fest an seiner Frömmigkeit; du aber hast mich bewogen, daß ich ihn ohne Ursache verderbt habe.(dhs) Job 2:3 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.(nas) Job 2:4 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ ὁ διάβολος εἶπεν τῷ κυρίῳ δέρμα ὑπὲρ δέρματος ὅσα ὑπάρχει ἀνθρώπῳ ὑπὲρ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ ἐκτείσει (lxx) Job 2:4 Cui respondens Satan, ait: Pellem pro pelle, et cuncta quæ habet homo dabit pro anima sua;(vulgate) Job 2:4 And Satan answered the Lorde, and sayde, Skin for skin, and all that euer a man hath, will he giue for his life.(Geneva) Job 2:4 Der Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Haut für Haut; und alles was ein Mann hat, läßt er für sein Leben.(dhs) Job 2:4 So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:5 ============ Job 2:5 However, put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face."(nas) Job 2:5 οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ ἀποστείλας τὴν χεῖρά σου ἅψαι τῶν ὀστῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν σαρκῶν αὐτοῦ εἰ μὴν εἰς πρόσωπόν σε εὐλογήσει (lxx) Job 2:5 alioquin mitte manum tuam, et tange os ejus et carnem, et tunc videbis quod in faciem benedicat tibi.(vulgate) Job 2:5 But stretch now out thine hand, and touch his bones and his flesh, to see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face.(Geneva) Job 2:5 Aber recke deine Hand aus und taste sein Gebein und Fleisch an: was gilt's, er wird dir ins Angesicht absagen?(dhs) Job 2:5 But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!"(nkjv) ======= Job 2:6 ============ Job 2:6 So the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life."(nas) Job 2:6 εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ ἰδοὺ παραδίδωμί σοι αὐτόν μόνον τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ διαφύλαξον (lxx) Job 2:6 Dixit ergo Dominus ad Satan: Ecce in manu tua est: verumtamen animam illius serva.(vulgate) Job 2:6 Then the Lorde said vnto Satan, Lo, he is in thine hand, but saue his life.(Geneva) Job 2:6 Der HERR sprach zu dem Satan: Siehe da, er ist in deiner Hand; doch schone seines Lebens!(dhs) Job 2:6 And the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life."(nkjv) ======= Job 2:7 ============ Job 2:7 Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.(nas) Job 2:7 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ ὁ διάβολος ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἔπαισεν τὸν Ιωβ ἕλκει πονηρῷ ἀπὸ ποδῶν ἕως κεφαλῆς (lxx) Job 2:7 Egressus igitur Satan a facie Domini, percussit Job ulcere pessimo, a planta pedis usque ad verticem ejus;(vulgate) Job 2:7 So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord, and smote Iob with sore boyles, from the sole of his foote vnto his crowne.(Geneva) Job 2:7 Da fuhr der Satan aus vom Angesicht des HERRN und schlug Hiob mit bösen Schwären von der Fußsohle an bis auf seinen Scheitel.(dhs) Job 2:7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:8 ============ Job 2:8 And he took a potsherd to scrape himself while he was sitting among the ashes.(nas) Job 2:8 καὶ ἔλαβεν ὄστρακον ἵνα τὸν ἰχῶρα ξύῃ καὶ ἐκάθητο ἐπὶ τῆς κοπρίας ἔξω τῆς πόλεως (lxx) Job 2:8 qui testa saniem radebat, sedens in sterquilinio.(vulgate) Job 2:8 And he tooke a potsharde to scrape him, and he sate downe among the ashes.(Geneva) Job 2:8 Und er nahm eine Scherbe und schabte sich und saß in der Asche.(dhs) Job 2:8 And he took for himself a potsherd with which to scrape himself while he sat in the midst of the ashes.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:9 ============ Job 2:9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!"(nas) Job 2:9 χρόνου δὲ πολλοῦ προβεβηκότος εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ μέχρι τίνος καρτερήσεις λέγων Job 2:9 Dixit autem illi uxor sua: Adhuc tu permanes in simplicitate tua? Benedic Deo, et morere.(vulgate) Job 2:9 Then said his wife vnto him, Doest thou continue yet in thine vprightnes? Blaspheme God, and dye.(Geneva) Job 2:9 Und sein Weib sprach zu ihm: Hältst du noch fest an deiner Frömmigkeit? Ja, sage Gott ab und stirb!(dhs) Job 2:9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!"(nkjv) ======= Job 2:10 ============ Job 2:10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.(nas) Job 2:10 ὁ δὲ ἐμβλέψας εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὥσπερ μία τῶν ἀφρόνων γυναικῶν ἐλάλησας εἰ τὰ ἀγαθὰ ἐδεξάμεθα ἐκ χειρὸς κυρίου τὰ κακὰ οὐχ ὑποίσομεν ἐν πᾶσιν τούτοις τοῖς συμβεβηκόσιν αὐτῷ οὐδὲν ἥμαρτεν Ιωβ τοῖς χείλεσιν ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ (lxx) Job 2:10 Qui ait ad illam: Quasi una de stultis mulieribus locuta es: si bona suscepimus de manu Dei, mala quare non suscipiamus? In omnibus his non peccavit Job labiis suis.~(vulgate) Job 2:10 But he said vnto her, Thou speakest like a foolish woman: what? shall we receiue good at the hande of God, and not receiue euill? In all this did not Iob sinne with his lippes.(Geneva) Job 2:10 Er aber sprach zu ihr: Du redest, wie die närrischen Weiber reden. Haben wir Gutes empfangen von Gott und sollten das Böse nicht auch annehmen? In diesem allem versündigte sich Hiob nicht mit seinen Lippen.(dhs) Job 2:10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:11 ============ Job 2:11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they came each one from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and comfort him.(nas) Job 2:11 ἀκούσαντες δὲ οἱ τρεῖς φίλοι αὐτοῦ τὰ κακὰ πάντα τὰ ἐπελθόντα αὐτῷ παρεγένοντο ἕκαστος ἐκ τῆς ἰδίας χώρας πρὸς αὐτόν Ελιφας ὁ Θαιμανων βασιλεύς Βαλδαδ ὁ Σαυχαίων τύραννος Σωφαρ ὁ Μιναίων βασιλεύς καὶ παρεγένοντο πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁμοθυμαδὸν τοῦ παρακαλέσαι καὶ ἐπισκέψασθαι αὐτόν (lxx) Job 2:11 Igitur audientes tres amici Job omne malum quod accidisset ei, venerunt singuli de loco suo, Eliphaz Themanites, et Baldad Suhites, et Sophar Naamathites. Condixerant enim ut pariter venientes visitarent eum, et consolarentur.(vulgate) Job 2:11 Nowe when Iobs three friends heard of all this euill that was come vpon him, they came euery one from his owne place, to wit, Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they were agreed together to come to lament with him, and to comfort him.(Geneva) Job 2:11 Da aber die drei Freunde Hiobs hörten all das Unglück, das über ihn gekommen war, kamen sie, ein jeglicher aus seinem Ort: Eliphas von Theman, Bildad von Suah und Zophar von Naema. And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.(nas) Job 2:12 ἰδόντες δὲ αὐτὸν πόρρωθεν οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν καὶ βοήσαντες φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ἔκλαυσαν ῥήξαντες ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ στολὴν καὶ καταπασάμενοι γῆν (lxx) Job 2:12 Cumque elevassent procul oculos suos, non cognoverunt eum, et exclamantes ploraverunt, scissisque vestibus sparserunt pulverem super caput suum in cælum.(vulgate) Job 2:12 So when they lift vp their eyes a farre off, they knewe him not: therefore they lift vp their voyces and wept, and euery one of them rent his garment, and sprinkled dust vpon their heads toward the heauen.(Geneva) Job 2:12 Und da sie ihre Augen aufhoben von ferne, kannten sie ihn nicht und hoben auf ihre Stimme und weinten, und ein jeglicher zerriß sein Kleid, und sie sprengten Erde auf ihr Haupt gen Himmel(dhs) Job 2:12 And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:13 ============ Job 2:13 Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
