Then the Lord said to me, "Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz; (nas) Isa 8:3 καὶ προσῆλθον πρὸς τὴν προφῆτιν καὶ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν καὶ εἶπεν κύριός μοι κάλεσον τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ταχέως σκύλευσον ὀξέως προνόμευσον (lxx) Isa 8:3 et accessi ad prophetissam, et concepit, et peperit filium. Et dixit Dominus ad me: Voca nomen ejus: Accelera spolia detrahere; Festina prædari:(vulgate) Isaiah 8:3 After, I came vnto the Prophetesse, which conceiued, and bare a sonne. Then the Lord said to me, "Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:4 ============ Isa 8:4 for before the boy knows how to cry out 'My father' or 'My mother, 'the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried away before the king of Assyria."(nas) Isa 8:4 διότι πρὶν ἢ γνῶναι τὸ παιδίον καλεῖν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα λήμψεται δύναμιν Δαμασκοῦ καὶ τὰ σκῦλα Σαμαρείας ἔναντι βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων (lxx) Isa 8:4 quia antequam sciat puer vocare patrem suum et matrem suam, auferetur fortitudo Damasci, et spolia Samariæ, coram rege Assyriorum.~(vulgate) Isaiah 8:4 For before the childe shall haue knowledge to crye, My father, & my mother, he shall take away the riches of Damascus and the spoyle of Samaria, before the King of Asshur.(Geneva) Isa 8:4 Denn ehe der Knabe rufen kann: "Lieber Vater! liebe Mutter!", soll die Macht aus Damaskus und die Ausbeute Samarias weggenommen werden durch den König von Assyrien.(dhs) Isa 8:4 for before the child shall have knowledge to cry 'My father' and 'My mother,' the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be taken away before the king of Assyria."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:5 ============ Isa 8:5 Again the Lord spoke to me further, saying, (nas) Isa 8:5 καὶ προσέθετο κύριος λαλῆσαί μοι ἔτι (lxx) Isa 8:5 Et adjecit Dominus loqui ad me adhuc, dicens:(vulgate) Isaiah 8:5 And the Lord spake yet againe vnto me, saying,(Geneva) Isa 8:5 Und der HERR redete weiter mit mir und sprach:(dhs) Isa 8:5 The Lord also spoke to me again, saying:(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:6 ============ Isa 8:6 "Inasmuch as these people have rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah And rejoice in Rezin and the son of Remaliah; (nas) Isa 8:6 διὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Σιλωαμ τὸ πορευόμενον ἡσυχῇ ἀλλὰ βούλεσθαι ἔχειν τὸν Ραασσων καὶ τὸν υἱὸν Ρομελιου βασιλέα ἐφ᾽ ὑμῶν (lxx) Isa 8:6 [Pro eo quod abjecit populus iste aquas Siloë, quæ vadunt cum silentio, et assumpsit magis Rasin, et filium Romeliæ:(vulgate) Isaiah 8:6 Because this people hath refused the waters of Shiloah that runne softly, and reioyce with Rezin, and the sonne of Remaliah,(Geneva) Isa 8:6 Weil dieses Volk verachtet das Wasser zu Siloah, das stille geht, und tröstet sich des Rezin und des Sohnes Remaljas,(dhs) Isa 8:6 "Inasmuch as these people refused The waters of Shiloah that flow softly, And rejoice in Rezin and in Remaliah's son;(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:7 ============ Isa 8:7 "Now therefore, behold, the Lord is about to bring on them the strong and abundant waters of the Euphrates, Even the king of Assyria and all his glory; And it will rise up over all its channels and go over all its banks. (nas) Isa 8:7 διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἀνάγει κύριος ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ ποταμοῦ τὸ ἰσχυρὸν καὶ τὸ πολύ τὸν βασιλέα τῶν Ἀσσυρίων καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἐπὶ πᾶσαν φάραγγα ὑμῶν καὶ περιπατήσει ἐπὶ πᾶν τεῖχος ὑμῶν (lxx) Isa 8:7 propter hoc ecce Dominus adducet super eos aquas fluminis fortes et multas, regem Assyriorum, et omnem gloriam ejus, et ascendet super omnes rivos ejus, et fluet super universas ripas ejus;(vulgate) Isaiah 8:7 Nowe therefore, beholde, the Lorde bringeth vp vpon them the waters of the Riuer mightie and great, euen the King of Asshur with all his glory, and he shall come vp vpon all their riuers, and goe ouer all their banks,(Geneva) Isa 8:7 siehe, so wird der HERR über sie kommen lassen starke und viele Wasser des Stromes, nämlich den König von Assyrien und alle seine Herrlichkeit, daß sie über alle ihre Bäche fahren und über alle Ufer gehen,(dhs) Isa 8:7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them The waters of the River, strong and mighty-- The king of Assyria and all his glory; He will go up over all his channels And go over all his banks.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:8 ============ Isa 8:8 "Then it will sweep on into Judah, it will overflow and pass through, It will reach even to the neck; And the spread of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel. (nas) Isa 8:8 καὶ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ τῆς Ιουδαίας ἄνθρωπον ὃς δυνήσεται κεφαλὴν ἆραι ἢ δυνατὸν συντελέσασθαί τι καὶ ἔσται ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτοῦ ὥστε πληρῶσαι τὸ πλάτος τῆς χώρας σου μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν ὁ θεός (lxx) Isa 8:8 et ibit per Judam, inundans, et transiens: usque ad collum veniet. (nas) Isa 8:12 μήποτε εἴπητε σκληρόν πᾶν γάρ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ λαὸς οὗτος σκληρόν ἐστιν τὸν δὲ φόβον αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ φοβηθῆτε οὐδὲ μὴ ταραχθῆτε (lxx) Isa 8:12 Non dicatis: Conjuratio; omnia enim quæ loquitur populus iste, conjuratio est: et timorem ejus ne timeatis, neque paveatis.(vulgate) Isaiah 8:12 Say ye not, A confederacie to all them, to whome this people sayth a confederacie, neither feare you their feare, nor be afrayd of them.(Geneva) Isa 8:12 Ihr sollt nicht sagen: Bund. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread. Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? (nas) Isa 8:19 καὶ ἐὰν εἴπωσιν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ζητήσατε τοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς φωνοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἐγγαστριμύθους τοὺς κενολογοῦντας οἳ ἐκ τῆς κοιλίας φωνοῦσιν οὐκ ἔθνος πρὸς θεὸν αὐτοῦ τί ἐκζητοῦσιν περὶ τῶν ζώντων τοὺς νεκρούς (lxx) Isa 8:19 et cum dixerint ad vos: Quærite a pythonibus et a divinis qui strident in incantationibus suis: numquid non populus a Deo suo requiret, pro vivis a mortuis?(vulgate) Isaiah 8:19 And when they shal say vnto you, Enquire at them that haue a spirit of diuination, and at the soothsayers, which whisper and murmure, Should not a people enquire at their God? from the liuing to the dead?(Geneva) Isa 8:19 Wenn sie aber zu euch sagen: Ihr müßt die Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter fragen, die da flüstern und murmeln so sprecht: Soll nicht ein Volk seinen Gott fragen, oder soll man die Toten für die Lebendigen fragen?(dhs) Isa 8:19 And when they say to you, "Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter," should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:20 ============ Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn. (nas) Isa 8:20 νόμον γὰρ εἰς βοήθειαν ἔδωκεν ἵνα εἴπωσιν οὐχ ὡς τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο περὶ οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν δῶρα δοῦναι περὶ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Isa 8:20 ad legem magis et ad testimonium. Quod si non dixerint juxta verbum hoc, non erit eis matutina lux.(vulgate) Isaiah 8:20 To the Law, and to the testimonie, if they speake not according to this worde: it is because there is no light in them.(Geneva) Isa 8:20 Ja, nach dem Gesetz und Zeugnis! Werden sie das nicht sagen, so werden sie die Morgenröte nicht haben,(dhs) Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:21 ============ Isa 8:21 They will pass through the land hard-pressed and famished, and it will turn out that when they are hungry, they will be enraged and curse their king and their God as they face upward. (nas) Isa 8:21 καὶ ἥξει ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς σκληρὰ λιμός καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν πεινάσητε λυπηθήσεσθε καὶ κακῶς ἐρεῖτε τὸν ἄρχοντα καὶ τὰ παταχρα καὶ ἀναβλέψονται εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἄνω (lxx) Isa 8:21 Et transibit per eam, corruet, et esuriet; et cum esurierit, irascetur. Et maledicet regi suo, et Deo suo, et suscipiet sursum,(vulgate) Isaiah 8:21 Then he that is afflicted and famished, shal go to and fro in it: and when he shalbe hungry, he shall euen freat himselfe, and curse his King and his gods, and shall looke vpward.(Geneva) Isa 8:21 sondern werden im Lande umhergehen, hart geschlagen und hungrig. Wenn sie aber Hunger leiden, werden sie zürnen und fluchen ihrem König und ihrem Gott(dhs) Isa 8:21 They will pass through it hard pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 8:22 ============ Isa 8:22 Then they will look to the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness.
