So they came in and stood before the king. (nas) Dan 2:2 καὶ ἐπέταξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰσενεχθῆναι τοὺς ἐπαοιδοὺς καὶ τοὺς μάγους καὶ τοὺς φαρμακοὺς τῶν Χαλδαίων ἀναγγεῖλαι τῷ βασιλεῖ τὰ ἐνύπνια αὐτοῦ καὶ παραγενόμενοι ἔστησαν παρὰ τῷ βασιλεῖ (lxx) Dan 2:2 Praecepit autem rex ut convocarentur arioli, et magi, et malefici, et Chaldaei, ut indicarent regi somnia sua. Qui cum venissent, steterunt coram rege.(vulgate) Daniel 2:2 Then the King commaunded to call the inchanters, and the astrologians and the sorcerers, and the Caldeans for to shewe the King his dreames: so they came and stoode before the King.(Geneva) Dan 2:2 Und er hieß alle Seher und Weisen und Zauberer und Chaldäer zusammenfordern, daß sie dem König seinen Traum sagen sollten. Und sie kamen und traten vor den König.(dhs) Dan 2:2 Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:3 ============ Dan 2:3 The king said to them, "I had a dream and my spirit is anxious to understand the dream."(nas) Dan 2:3 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ βασιλεύς ἐνύπνιον ἑώρακα καὶ ἐκινήθη μου τὸ πνεῦμα ἐπιγνῶναι οὖν θέλω τὸ ἐνύπνιον (lxx) Dan 2:3 Et dixit ad eos rex: Vidi somnium, et mente confusus ignoro quid viderim.(vulgate) Daniel 2:3 And the King sayde vnto them, I haue dreamed a dreame, and my spirite was troubled to knowe the dreame.(Geneva) Dan 2:3 Und der König sprach zu ihnen: Ich habe einen Traum gehabt, der hat mich erschreckt; und ich wollte gern wissen, was es für ein Traum gewesen sei.(dhs) Dan 2:3 And the king said to them, "I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:4 ============ Dan 2:4 Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic. "O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation."(nas) Dan 2:4 καὶ ἐλάλησαν οἱ Χαλδαῖοι πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Συριστί κύριε βασιλεῦ τὸν αἰῶνα ζῆθι ἀνάγγειλον τὸ ἐνύπνιόν σου τοῖς παισί σου καὶ ἡμεῖς σοι φράσομεν τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Dan 2:4 Responderuntque Chaldaei regi syriace: Rex, in sempiternum vive! dic somnium servis tuis, et interpretationem ejus indicabimus.(vulgate) Daniel 2:4 Then spake the Caldeans to the King in the Aramites language, O King, liue for euer: shewe thy seruants thy dreame, and wee shall shewe the interpretation.(Geneva) Dan 2:4 Da sprachen die Chaldäer zum König auf chaldäisch: Der König lebe ewiglich! Sage deinen Knechten den Traum, so wollen wir ihn deuten.(dhs) Dan 2:4 Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, "O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:5 ============ Dan 2:5 The king replied to the Chaldeans, "The command from me is firm: if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you will be torn limb from limb and your houses will be made a rubbish heap. (nas) Dan 2:5 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς εἶπε τοῖς Χαλδαίοις ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ ἀπαγγείλητέ μοι ἐπ᾽ ἀληθείας τὸ ἐνύπνιον καὶ τὴν τούτου σύγκρισιν δηλώσητέ μοι παραδειγματισθήσεσθε καὶ ἀναληφθήσεται ὑμῶν τὰ ὑπάρχοντα εἰς τὸ βασιλικόν (lxx) Dan 2:5 Et respondens rex ait Chaldaeis: Sermo recessit a me: nisi indicaveritis mihi somnium, et conjecturam ejus, peribitis vos, et domus vestrae publicabuntur.(vulgate) Daniel 2:5 And the King answered & sayd to the Caldeans, The thing is gone from me. If ye will not make me vnderstande the dreame with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be drawen in pieces, and your houses shall be made a iakes.(Geneva) Dan 2:5 Der König antwortete und sprach zu den Chaldäern: Es ist mir entfallen. Werdet ihr mir den Traum nicht anzeigen und ihn deuten, so sollt ihr in Stücke zerhauen und eure Häuser schändlich zerstört werden.(dhs) Dan 2:5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, "My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:6 ============ Dan 2:6 But if you declare the dream and its interpretation, you will receive from me gifts and a reward and great honor; therefore declare to me the dream and its interpretation."(nas) Dan 2:6 ἐὰν δὲ τὸ ἐνύπνιον διασαφήσητέ μοι καὶ τὴν τούτου σύγκρισιν ἀναγγείλητε λήψεσθε δόματα παντοῖα καὶ δοξασθήσεσθε ὑπ᾽ ἐμοῦ δηλώσατέ μοι τὸ ἐνύπνιον καὶ κρίνατε (lxx) Dan 2:6 Si autem somnium, et conjecturam ejus narraveritis, praemia, et dona, et honorem multum accipietis a me. Somnium igitur, et interpretationem ejus indicate mihi.(vulgate) Daniel 2:6 But if yee declare the dreame and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receyue of me gifts and rewardes, and great honour: therefore shewe me the dreame and the interpretation of it.(Geneva) Dan 2:6 Werdet ihr mir aber den Traum anzeigen und deuten, so sollt ihr Geschenke, Gaben und große Ehre von mir haben. Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:7 ============ Dan 2:7 They answered a second time and said, "Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation."(nas) Dan 2:7 ἀπεκρίθησαν δὲ ἐκ δευτέρου λέγοντες βασιλεῦ τὸ ὅραμα εἰπόν καὶ οἱ παῖδές σου κρινοῦσι πρὸς ταῦτα (lxx) Dan 2:7 Responderunt secundo, atque dixerunt: Rex somnium dicat servis suis, et interpretationem illius indicabimus.(vulgate) Daniel 2:7 They answered againe, and sayde, Let the King shewe his seruantes the dreame, and wee will declare the interpretation thereof.(Geneva) Dan 2:7 Sie antworteten wiederum und sprachen: Der König sage seinen Knechten den Traum, so wollen wir ihn deuten.(dhs) Dan 2:7 They answered again and said, "Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will give its interpretation."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:8 ============ Dan 2:8 The king replied, "I know for certain that you are bargaining for time, inasmuch as you have seen that the command from me is firm, (nas) Dan 2:8 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ βασιλεύς ἐπ᾽ ἀληθείας οἶδα ὅτι καιρὸν ὑμεῖς ἐξαγοράζετε καθάπερ ἑωράκατε ὅτι ἀπέστη ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ τὸ πρᾶγμα καθάπερ οὖν προστέταχα οὕτως ἔσται (lxx) Dan 2:8 Respondit rex, et ait: Certe novi quod tempus redimitis, scientes quod recesserit a me sermo.(vulgate) Daniel 2:8 Then the King answered, and sayd, I knowe certeinly that ye would gaine the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.(Geneva) Dan 2:8 Der König antwortete und sprach: Wahrlich, ich merke es, daß ihr Frist sucht, weil ihr seht, daß mir's entfallen ist.(dhs) Dan 2:8 The king answered and said, "I know for certain that you would gain time, because you see that my decision is firm:(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:9 ============ Dan 2:9 that if you do not make the dream known to me, there is only one decree for you. For you have agreed together to speak lying and corrupt words before me until the situation is changed; therefore tell me the dream, that I may know that you can declare to me its interpretation."(nas) Dan 2:9 ἐὰν μὴ τὸ ἐνύπνιον ἀπαγγείλητέ μοι ἐπ᾽ ἀληθείας καὶ τὴν τούτου σύγκρισιν δηλώσητε θανάτῳ περιπεσεῖσθε συνείπασθε γὰρ λόγους ψευδεῖς ποιήσασθαι ἐπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἕως ἂν ὁ καιρὸς ἀλλοιωθῇ νῦν οὖν ἐὰν τὸ ῥῆμα εἴπητέ μοι ὃ τὴν νύκτα ἑώρακα γνώσομαι ὅτι καὶ τὴν τούτου κρίσιν δηλώσετε (lxx) Dan 2:9 Si ergo somnium non indicaveritis mihi, una est de vobis sententia, quod interpretationem quoque fallacem, et deceptione plenam composueritis, ut loquamini mihi donec tempus pertranseat. Somnium itaque dicite mihi, ut sciam quod interpretationem quoque ejus veram loquamini.(vulgate) Daniel 2:9 But if ye will not declare mee the dreame, there is but one iudgement for you: for ye haue prepared lying and corrupt wordes, to speake before me till the time bee changed: therefore tell me the dreame, that I may knowe, if yee can declare me the interpretation thereof.(Geneva) Dan 2:9 Aber werdet ihr mir nicht den Traum sagen, so geht das Recht über euch, als die ihr Lügen und Gedichte vor mir zu reden euch vorgenommen habt, bis die Zeit vorübergehe. Darum so sagt mir den Traum, so kann ich merken, daß ihr auch die Deutung trefft.(dhs) Dan 2:9 if you do not make known the dream to me, there is only one decree for you! Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can give me its interpretation."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:10 ============ Dan 2:10 The Chaldeans answered the king and said, "There is not a man on earth who could declare the matter for the king, inasmuch as no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any magician, conjurer or Chaldean. (nas) Dan 2:10 καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ Χαλδαῖοι ἐπὶ τοῦ βασιλέως ὅτι οὐδεὶς τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς δυνήσεται εἰπεῖν τῷ βασιλεῖ ὃ ἑώρακε καθάπερ σὺ ἐρωτᾷς καὶ πᾶς βασιλεὺς καὶ πᾶς δυνάστης τοιοῦτο πρᾶγμα οὐκ ἐπερωτᾷ πάντα σοφὸν καὶ μάγον καὶ Χαλδαῖον (lxx) Dan 2:10 Respondentes ergo Chaldaei coram rege, dixerunt: Non est homo super terram, qui sermonem tuum, rex, possit implere: sed neque regum quisquam magnus et potens verbum hujuscemodi sciscitatur ab omni ariolo, et mago, et Chaldaeo.(vulgate) Daniel 2:10 Then the Caldeans answered before the King, and sayde, There is no man vpon earth that can declare the Kings matter: yea, there is neither king nor prince nor lorde that asked such things at an inchanter or astrologian or Caldean.(Geneva) Dan 2:10 Da antworteten die Chaldäer vor dem König und sprachen zu ihm: Es ist kein Mensch auf Erden, der sagen könne, was der König fordert. So ist auch kein König, wie groß oder mächtig er sei, der solches von irgend einem Sternseher, Weisen oder Chaldäer fordere.(dhs) Dan 2:10 The Chaldeans answered the king, and said, "There is not a man on earth who can tell the king's matter; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:11 ============ Dan 2:11 Moreover, the thing which the king demands is difficult, and there is no one else who could declare it to the king except gods, whose dwelling place is not with mortal flesh."(nas) Dan 2:11 καὶ ὁ λόγος ὃν ζητεῖς βασιλεῦ βαρύς ἐστι καὶ ἐπίδοξος καὶ οὐδείς ἐστιν ὃς δηλώσει ταῦτα τῷ βασιλεῖ εἰ μήτι ἄγγελος οὗ οὐκ ἔστι κατοικητήριον μετὰ πάσης σαρκός ὅθεν οὐκ ἐνδέχεται γενέσθαι καθάπερ οἴει (lxx) Dan 2:11 Sermo enim, quem tu quaeris, rex, gravis est: nec reperietur quisquam qui indicet illum in conspectu regis, exceptis diis, quorum non est cum hominibus conversatio.(vulgate) Daniel 2:11 For it is a rare thing that the King requireth, and there is none other that can declare it before the King, except the gods whose dwelling is not with flesh.(Geneva) Dan 2:11 Denn was der König fordert, ist zu hoch, und ist auch sonst niemand, der es vor dem König sagen könne, ausgenommen die Götter, die bei den Menschen nicht wohnen.(dhs) Dan 2:11 It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:12 ============ Dan 2:12 Because of this the king became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. (nas) Dan 2:12 τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς στυγνὸς γενόμενος καὶ περίλυπος προσέταξεν ἐξαγαγεῖν πάντας τοὺς σοφοὺς τῆς Βαβυλωνίας (lxx) Dan 2:12 Quo audito, rex, in furore et in ira magna, praecepit ut perirent omnes sapientes Babylonis.(vulgate) Daniel 2:12 For this cause the king was angrie and in great furie, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babel.(Geneva) Dan 2:12 Da ward der König sehr zornig und befahl, alle Weisen zu Babel umzubringen.(dhs) Dan 2:12 For this reason the king was angry and very furious, and gave a command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:13 ============ Dan 2:13 So the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they looked for Daniel and his friends to kill them. (nas) Dan 2:13 καὶ ἐδογματίσθη πάντας ἀποκτεῖναι ἐζητήθη δὲ ὁ Δανιηλ καὶ πάντες οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ χάριν τοῦ συναπολέσθαι (lxx) Dan 2:13 Et egressa sententia, sapientes interficiebantur: quaerebanturque Daniel et socii ejus, ut perirent.(vulgate) Daniel 2:13 And when sentence was giuen, the wise men were slayne: and they sought Daniel and his fellowes to be put to death.(Geneva) Dan 2:13 Und das Urteil ging aus, daß man die Weisen töten sollte; und Dan el samt seinen Gesellen ward auch gesucht, daß man sie tötete.(dhs) Dan 2:13 So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:14 ============ Dan 2:14 Then Daniel replied with discretion and discernment to Arioch, the captain of the king's bodyguard, who had gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon; (nas) Dan 2:14 τότε Δανιηλ εἶπε βουλὴν καὶ γνώμην ἣν εἶχεν Αριώχῃ τῷ ἀρχιμαγείρῳ τοῦ βασιλέως ᾧ προσέταξεν ἐξαγαγεῖν τοὺς σοφιστὰς τῆς Βαβυλωνίας (lxx) Dan 2:14 Tunc Daniel requisivit de lege atque sententia ab Arioch principe militiae regis, qui egressus fuerat ad interficiendos sapientes Babylonis.(vulgate) Daniel 2:14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisedome to Arioch the Kings chiefe stewarde, which was gone foorth to put to death the wise men of Babel.(Geneva) Dan 2:14 Da erwiderte Dan el klug und verständig dem Arioch, dem obersten Richter des Königs, welcher auszog, zu töten die Weisen zu Babel.(dhs) Dan 2:14 Then with counsel and wisdom Daniel answered Arioch, the captain of the king's guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon;(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:15 ============ Dan 2:15 he said to Arioch, the king's commander, "For what reason is the decree from the king so urgent?" Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter. (nas) Dan 2:15 καὶ ἐπυνθάνετο αὐτοῦ λέγων περὶ τίνος δογματίζεται πικρῶς παρὰ τοῦ βασιλέως τότε τὸ πρόσταγμα ἐσήμανεν ὁ Αριώχης τῷ Δανιηλ (lxx) Dan 2:15 Et interrogavit eum, qui a rege potestatem acceperat, quam ob causam tam crudelis sententia a facie regis esset egressa. Cum ergo rem indicasset Arioch Danieli,(vulgate) Daniel 2:15 Yea, he answered and sayde vnto Arioch the kings captaine, Why is the sentence so hastie from the king? Then Arioch declared the thing to Daniel.(Geneva) Dan 2:15 Und er fing an und sprach zu des Königs Vogt, Arioch: Warum ist ein so strenges Urteil vom König ausgegangan? Und Arioch zeigte es dem Dan el an.(dhs) Dan 2:15 he answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, "Why is the decree from the king so urgent?" Then Arioch made the decision known to Daniel.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:16 ============ Dan 2:16 So Daniel went in and requested of the king that he would give him time, in order that he might declare the interpretation to the king. (nas) Dan 2:16 ὁ δὲ Δανιηλ εἰσῆλθε ταχέως πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἠξίωσεν ἵνα δοθῇ αὐτῷ χρόνος παρὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ δηλώσῃ πάντα ἐπὶ τοῦ βασιλέως (lxx) Dan 2:16 Daniel ingressus rogavit regem ut tempus daret sibi ad solutionem indicandam regi.(vulgate) Daniel 2:16 So Daniel went and desired the king that he woulde giue him leasure and that he woulde shewe the king the interpretation thereof.(Geneva) Dan 2:16 Da ging Dan el hinein und bat den König, daß er ihm Frist gäbe, damit er die Deutung dem König sagen möchte.(dhs) Dan 2:16 So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:17 ============ Dan 2:17 Then Daniel went to his house and informed his friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, about the matter, (nas) Dan 2:17 τότε ἀπελθὼν Δανιηλ εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ τῷ Ανανια καὶ Μισαηλ καὶ Αζαρια τοῖς συνεταίροις ὑπέδειξε πάντα (lxx) Dan 2:17 Et ingressus est domum suam, Ananiaeque et Misaeli et Azariae, sociis suis, indicavit negotium,(vulgate) Daniel 2:17 The Daniel went to his house & shewed the matter to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah his companions,(Geneva) Dan 2:17 Und Dan el ging heim und zeigte solches an seinen Gesellen, Hananja, Misael und Asarja,(dhs) Dan 2:17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:18 ============ Dan 2:18 so that they might request compassion from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his friends would not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. (nas) Dan 2:18 καὶ παρήγγειλε νηστείαν καὶ δέησιν καὶ τιμωρίαν ζητῆσαι παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου τοῦ ὑψίστου περὶ τοῦ μυστηρίου τούτου ὅπως μὴ ἐκδοθῶσι Δανιηλ καὶ οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς ἀπώλειαν ἅμα τοῖς σοφισταῖς Βαβυλῶνος (lxx) Dan 2:18 ut quaererent misericordiam a facie Dei caeli super sacramento isto, et non perirent Daniel et socii ejus cum ceteris sapientibus Babylonis.(vulgate) Daniel 2:18 That they should beseech the God of heauen for grace in this secrete, that Daniel and his fellowes should not perish with the rest of ye wise men of Babel.(Geneva) Dan 2:18 daß sie den Gott des Himmels um Gnade bäten solches verborgenen Dinges halben, damit Dan el und seine Gesellen nicht samt den andern Weisen zu Babel umkämen.(dhs) Dan 2:18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:19 ============ Dan 2:19 Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven; (nas) Dan 2:19 τότε τῷ Δανιηλ ἐν ὁράματι ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ νυκτὶ τὸ μυστήριον τοῦ βασιλέως ἐξεφάνθη εὐσήμως τότε Δανιηλ εὐλόγησε τὸν κύριον τὸν ὕψιστον (lxx) Dan 2:19 Tunc Danieli mysterium per visionem nocte revelatum est: et benedixit Daniel Deum caeli,(vulgate) Daniel 2:19 Then was the secret reueiled vnto Daniel in a vision by night: therefore Daniel praysed the God of heauen.(Geneva) Dan 2:19 Da ward Dan el solch verborgenes Ding durch ein Gesicht des Nachts offenbart.(dhs) Dan 2:19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 2:20 ============ Dan 2:20 Daniel said, "Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him.
