(nas) Dan 5:6 καὶ ἡ ὅρασις αὐτοῦ ἠλλοιώθη καὶ φόβοι καὶ ὑπόνοιαι αὐτὸν κατέσπευδον ἔσπευσεν οὖν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐξανέστη καὶ ἑώρα τὴν γραφὴν ἐκείνην καὶ οἱ συνεταῖροι κύκλῳ αὐτοῦ ἐκαυχῶντο (lxx) Dan 5:6 Tunc facies regis commutata est, et cogitationes ejus conturbabant eum: et compages renum ejus solvebantur, et genua ejus ad se invicem collidebantur.(vulgate) Daniel 5:6 Then the Kings countenance was changed, and his thoughtes troubled him, so that the ioynts of his loynes were loosed, and his knees smote one against the other.(Geneva) Dan 5:6 Da entfärbte sich der König, und seine Gedanken erschreckten ihn, daß ihm die Lenden schütterten und die Beine zitterten.(dhs) Dan 5:6 Then the king's countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:7 ============ Dan 5:7 The king called aloud to bring in the conjurers, the Chaldeans and the diviners. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, "Any man who can read this inscription and explain its interpretation to me shall be clothed with purple and have a necklace of gold around his neck, and have authority as third ruler in the kingdom."(nas) Dan 5:7 καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐφώνησε φωνῇ μεγάλῃ καλέσαι τοὺς ἐπαοιδοὺς καὶ φαρμακοὺς καὶ Χαλδαίους καὶ γαζαρηνοὺς ἀπαγγεῖλαι τὸ σύγκριμα τῆς γραφῆς καὶ εἰσεπορεύοντο ἐπὶ θεωρίαν ἰδεῖν τὴν γραφήν καὶ τὸ σύγκριμα τῆς γραφῆς οὐκ ἐδύναντο συγκρῖναι τῷ βασιλεῖ τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐξέθηκε πρόσταγμα λέγων πᾶς ἀνήρ ὃς ἂν ὑποδείξῃ τὸ σύγκριμα τῆς γραφῆς στολιεῖ αὐτὸν πορφύραν καὶ μανιάκην χρυσοῦν περιθήσει αὐτῷ καὶ δοθήσεται αὐτῷ ἐξουσία τοῦ τρίτου μέρους τῆς βασιλείας (lxx) Dan 5:7 Exclamavit itaque rex fortiter ut introducerent magos, Chaldaeos, et aruspices. Et proloquens rex ait sapientibus Babylonis: Quicumque legerit scripturam hanc, et interpretationem ejus manifestam mihi fecerit, purpura vestietur, et torquem auream habebit in collo, et tertius in regno meo erit.(vulgate) Daniel 5:7 Wherefore the King cryed loude, that they should bring the astrologians, the Caldeans and the soothsayers; the King spake, and sayd to the wise men of Babel, Whosoeuer can reade this writing, and declare me the interpretation thereof, shalbe clothed with purple, and shall haue a chaine of golde about his necke, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdome.(Geneva) Dan 5:7 Und der König rief überlaut, daß man die Weisen, Chaldäer und Wahrsager hereinbringen sollte. Und er ließ den Weisen zu Babel sagen: Welcher Mensch diese Schrift liest und sagen kann, was sie bedeute, der soll in Purpur gekleidet werden und eine goldene Kette am Halse tragen und der dritte Herr sein in meinem Königreiche.(dhs) Dan 5:7 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon, "Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:8 ============ Dan 5:8 Then all the king's wise men came in, but they could not read the inscription or make known its interpretation to the king. (nas) Dan 5:8 καὶ εἰσεπορεύοντο οἱ ἐπαοιδοὶ καὶ φαρμακοὶ καὶ γαζαρηνοί καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο οὐδεὶς τὸ σύγκριμα τῆς γραφῆς ἀπαγγεῖλαι (lxx) Dan 5:8 Tunc ingressi omnes sapientes regis non potuerunt nec scripturam legere, nec interpretationem indicare regi.(vulgate) Daniel 5:8 Then came all the Kings wise men, but they could neither reade the writing, nor shewe the King the interpretation.(Geneva) Dan 5:8 Da wurden alle Weisen des Königs hereingebracht; aber sie konnten weder die Schrift lesen noch die Deutung dem König anzeigen.(dhs) Dan 5:8 Now all the king's wise men came, but they could not read the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:9 ============ Dan 5:9 Then King Belshazzar was greatly alarmed, his face grew even paler, and his nobles were perplexed. (nas) Dan 5:9 τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐκάλεσε τὴν βασίλισσαν περὶ τοῦ σημείου καὶ ὑπέδειξεν αὐτῇ ὡς μέγα ἐστί καὶ ὅτι πᾶς ἄνθρωπος οὐ δύναται ἀπαγγεῖλαι τῷ βασιλεῖ τὸ σύγκριμα τῆς γραφῆς (lxx) Dan 5:9 Unde rex Baltassar satis conturbatus est, et vultus illius immutatus est; sed et optimates ejus turbabantur.(vulgate) Daniel 5:9 Then was King Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his princes were astonied.(Geneva) Dan 5:9 Darüber erschrak der König Belsazer noch härter und verlor ganz seine Farbe; und seinen Gewaltigen ward bange.(dhs) Dan 5:9 Then King Belshazzar was greatly troubled, his countenance was changed, and his lords were astonished.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:10 ============ Dan 5:10 The queen entered the banquet hall because of the words of the king and his nobles; the queen spoke and said, "O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts alarm you or your face be pale. (nas) Dan 5:10 τότε ἡ βασίλισσα ἐμνήσθη πρὸς αὐτὸν περὶ τοῦ Δανιηλ ὃς ἦν ἐκ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας τῆς Ιουδαίας (lxx) Dan 5:10 Regina autem pro re, quae acciderat regi et optimatibus ejus, domum convivii ingressa est: et proloquens ait: Rex, in aeternum vive! non te conturbent cogitationes tuae, neque facies tua immutetur.(vulgate) Daniel 5:10 Now the Queene by reason of the talke of the King, and his princes came into the banket house, and the Queene spake, and sayd, O King, liue for euer: let not thy thoughtes trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed.(Geneva) Dan 5:10 Da ging die Königin um solcher Sache des Königs und seiner Gewaltigen willen hinein in den Saal und sprach: Der König lebe ewiglich! Do not let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance change.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:11 ============ Dan 5:11 There is a man in your kingdom in whom is a spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, illumination, insight and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him. And King Nebuchadnezzar, your father, your father the king, appointed him chief of the magicians, conjurers, Chaldeans and diviners. (nas) Dan 5:11 καὶ εἶπε τῷ βασιλεῖ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐπιστήμων ἦν καὶ σοφὸς καὶ ὑπερέχων πάντας τοὺς σοφοὺς Βαβυλῶνος (lxx) Dan 5:11 Est vir in regno tuo, qui spiritum deorum sanctorum habet in se, et in diebus patris tui scientia et sapientia inventae sunt in eo: nam et rex Nabuchodonosor pater tuus principem magorum, incantatorum, Chaldaeorum, et aruspicum constituit eum, pater, inquam, tuus, o rex:(vulgate) Daniel 5:11 There is a man in thy kingdome, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods, and in the dayes of thy father light and vnderstanding and wisdome like the wisdome of the gods, was found in him: whom the King Nebuchad-nezzar thy father, the King, I say, thy father, made chiefe of the enchanters, astrologians, Caldeans, and soothsayers,(Geneva) Dan 5:11 Es ist ein Mann in deinem Königreich, der den Geist der heiligen Götter hat. Denn zu deines Vaters Zeit ward bei ihm Erleuchtung gefunden, Klugheit und Weisheit, wie der Götter Weisheit ist; und dein Vater, König Nebukadnezar, setzte ihn über die Sternseher, Weisen, Chaldäer und Wahrsager,(dhs) Dan 5:11 There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father--your father the king--made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:12 ============ Dan 5:12 This was because an extraordinary spirit, knowledge and insight, interpretation of dreams, explanation of enigmas and solving of difficult problems were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Let Daniel now be summoned and he will declare the interpretation." (nas) Dan 5:12 καὶ πνεῦμα ἅγιον ἐν αὐτῷ ἐστι καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τοῦ πατρός σου τοῦ βασιλέως συγκρίματα ὑπέρογκα ὑπέδειξε Ναβουχοδονοσορ τῷ πατρί σου (lxx) Dan 5:12 quia spiritus amplior, et prudentia, intelligentiaque et interpretatio somniorum, et ostensio secretorum, ac solutio ligatorum inventae sunt in eo, hoc est in Daniele: cui rex posuit nomen Baltassar. Nunc itaque Daniel vocetur, et interpretationem narrabit.(vulgate) Daniel 5:12 Because a more excellent spirit, and knowledge, and vnderstanding (for hee did expound dreames, and declare hard sentences, and dissolued doubtes) were founde in him, euen in Daniel, whome the King named Belteshazzar: nowe let Daniel be called, and hee will declare the interpretation.(Geneva) Dan 5:12 darum daß ein hoher Geist bei ihm gefunden ward, dazu Verstand und Klugheit, Träume zu deuten, dunkle Sprüche zu erraten und verborgene Sachen zu offenbaren: nämlich Dan el, den der König ließ Beltsazar nennen. So rufe man nun Dan el; der wird sagen, was es bedeutet.(dhs) Dan 5:12 Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:13 ============ Dan 5:13 Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Daniel, "Are you that Daniel who is one of the exiles from Judah, whom my father the king brought from Judah? (nas) Dan 5:13 τότε Δανιηλ εἰσήχθη πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ (lxx) Dan 5:13 Igitur introductus est Daniel coram rege: ad quem praefatus rex ait: Tu es Daniel de filiis captivitatis Judae, quem adduxit pater meus rex de Judaea?(vulgate) Daniel 5:13 Then was Daniel brought before the King, and the King spake and sayd vnto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captiuitie of Iudah, whom my father the King brought out of Iewrie?(Geneva) Dan 5:13 Da ward Dan el hinein vor den König gebracht. The king spoke, and said to Daniel, "Are you that Daniel who is one of the captives from Judah, whom my father the king brought from Judah?(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:14 ============ Dan 5:14 Now I have heard about you that a spirit of the gods is in you, and that illumination, insight and extraordinary wisdom have been found in you. (nas) Dan 5:14 -- (lxx) Dan 5:14 audivi de te, quoniam spiritum deorum habeas, et scientia, intelligentiaque ac sapientia ampliores inventae sunt in te.(vulgate) Daniel 5:14 Now I haue heard of thee, that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and that light and vnderstanding and excellent wisdome is found in thee.(Geneva) Dan 5:14 Ich habe von dir hören sagen, daß du den Geist der Götter hast und Erleuchtung, Verstand und hohe Weisheit bei dir gefunden sei.(dhs) Dan 5:14 I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:15 ============ Dan 5:15 Just now the wise men and the conjurers were brought in before me that they might read this inscription and make its interpretation known to me, but they could not declare the interpretation of the message. (nas) Dan 5:15 -- (lxx) Dan 5:15 Et nunc introgressi sunt in conspectu meo sapientes magi, ut scripturam hanc legerent, et interpretationem ejus indicarent mihi: et nequiverunt sensum hujus sermonis edicere.(vulgate) Daniel 5:15 Now therefore, wisemen and astrologians haue bene brought before me, that they should reade this writing, and shewe me the interpretation thereof: but they could not declare the interpretation of the thing.(Geneva) Dan 5:15 Nun habe ich vor mich fordern lassen die Klugen und Weisen, daß sie mir diese Schrift lesen und anzeigen sollen, was sie bedeutet: und sie können mir nicht sagen, was solches bedeutet.(dhs) Dan 5:15 Now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing and make known to me its interpretation, but they could not give the interpretation of the thing.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:16 ============ Dan 5:16 But I personally have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and solve difficult problems. Now if you are able to read the inscription and make its interpretation known to me, you will be clothed with purple and wear a necklace of gold around your neck, and you will have authority as the third ruler in the kingdom."(nas) Dan 5:16 ὦ Δανιηλ δύνῃ μοι ὑποδεῖξαι τὸ σύγκριμα τῆς γραφῆς καὶ στολιῶ σε πορφύραν καὶ μανιάκην χρυσοῦν περιθήσω σοι καὶ ἕξεις ἐξουσίαν τοῦ τρίτου μέρους τῆς βασιλείας μου (lxx) Dan 5:16 Porro ego audivi de te, quod possis obscura interpretari, et ligata dissolvere: si ergo vales scripturam legere, et interpretationem ejus indicare mihi, purpura vestieris, et torquem auream circa collum tuum habebis, et tertius in regno meo princeps eris.(vulgate) Daniel 5:16 Then heard I of thee, that thou couldest shewe interpretations, and dissolue doutes: nowe if thou canst reade the writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with purple, and shalt haue a chaine of golde about thy necke, & shalt be the third ruler in the kingdome.(Geneva) Dan 5:16 Von dir aber höre ich, daß du könnest Deutungen geben und das Verborgene offenbaren. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:17 ============ Dan 5:17 Then Daniel answered and said before the king, "Keep your gifts for yourself or give your rewards to someone else; however, I will read the inscription to the king and make the interpretation known to him. (nas) Dan 5:17 τότε Δανιηλ ἔστη κατέναντι τῆς γραφῆς καὶ ἀνέγνω καὶ οὕτως ἀπεκρίθη τῷ βασιλεῖ αὕτη ἡ γραφή ἠρίθμηται κατελογίσθη ἐξῆρται καὶ ἔστη ἡ γράψασα χείρ καὶ αὕτη ἡ σύγκρισις αὐτῶν (lxx) Dan 5:17 Ad quae respondens Daniel, ait coram rege: Munera tua sint tibi, et dona domus tuae alteri da: scripturam autem legam tibi, rex, et interpretationem ejus ostendam tibi.(vulgate) Daniel 5:17 Then Daniel answered, and sayd before the King, Keepe thy rewards to thy selfe, and giue thy giftes to another: yet I will reade the writing vnto the King, and shew him the interpretation.(Geneva) Dan 5:17 Da fing Dan el an und redete vor dem König: Behalte deine Gaben selbst und gib dein Geschenk einem andern; ich will dennoch die Schrift dem König lesen und anzeigen, was sie bedeutet.(dhs) Dan 5:17 Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, "Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 5:18 ============ Dan 5:18 O king, the Most High God granted sovereignty, grandeur, glory and majesty to Nebuchadnezzar your father.
