Today's Date: 4/4/2025 ======= Genesis 29:1 ============ Gen 29:1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.(KJV) Genesis 29:1 Then Iaakob lift vp his feete and came into the East countrey.(Geneva) Genèse 29:1 Jacob se mit en marche, et s'en alla au pays des fils de l'Orient.(FR) 1 ׃29 וַיִּשָּׂ֥א יַעֲקֹ֖ב רַגְלָ֑יו וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ אַ֥רְצָה בְנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃ Genesis Gen 29:1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the sons of the east.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:2 ============ Gen 29:2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.(KJV) Genesis 29:2 And as he looked about, behold there was a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheepe lay thereby (for at that well were the flockes watered) & there was a great stone vpon the welles mouth.(Geneva) Genèse 29:2 Il regarda. Et voici, il y avait un puits dans les champs; et voici, il y avait à côté trois troupeaux de brebis qui se reposaient, car c'était à ce puits qu'on abreuvait les troupeaux. Et la pierre sur l'ouverture du puits était grande.(FR) 2 ׃29 וַיַּ֞רְא וְהִנֵּ֧ה בְאֵ֣ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּה־שָׁ֞ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה עֶדְרֵי־צֹאן֙ רֹבְצִ֣ים עָלֶ֔יהָ כִּ֚י מִן־הַבְּאֵ֣ר הַהִ֔וא יַשְׁק֖וּ הָעֲדָרִ֑ים וְהָאֶ֥בֶן גְּדֹלָ֖ה עַל־פִּ֥י הַבְּאֵֽר׃ Genesis Gen 29:2 He looked, and saw a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep were lying there beside it, for from that well they watered the flocks. Now the stone on the mouth of the well was large.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:3 ============ Gen 29:3 And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.(KJV) Genesis 29:3 And thither were all the flockes gathered, & they rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered the sheepe, and put the stone againe vpon the welles mouth in his place.(Geneva) Genèse 29:3 Tous les troupeaux se rassemblaient là; on roulait la pierre de dessus l'ouverture du puits, on abreuvait les troupeaux, et l'on remettait la pierre à sa place sur l'ouverture du puits.(FR) 3 ׃29 וְנֶאֶסְפוּ־שָׁ֣מָּה כָל־הָעֲדָרִ֗ים וְגָלֲל֤וּ אֶת־הָאֶ֙בֶן֙ מֵעַל֙ פִּ֣י הַבְּאֵ֔ר וְהִשְׁק֖וּ אֶת־הַצֹּ֑אן וְהֵשִׁ֧יבוּ אֶת־הָאֶ֛בֶן עַל־פִּ֥י הַבְּאֵ֖ר לִמְקֹמָֽהּ׃ Genesis Gen 29:3 When all the flocks were gathered there, they would then roll the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place on the mouth of the well.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:4 ============ Gen 29:4 And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.(KJV) Genesis 29:4 And Iaakob sayde vnto them, My brethren, whence be ye? Ils répondirent: Nous sommes de Charan.(FR) 4 ׃29 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ יַעֲקֹ֔ב אַחַ֖י מֵאַ֣יִן אַתֶּ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מֵחָרָ֖ן אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃ Genesis Gen 29:4 Jacob said to them, "My brothers, where are you from?" And they said, "We are from Haran."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:5 ============ Gen 29:5 And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.(KJV) Genesis 29:5 Then he sayd vnto them, Know ye Laban the sonne of Nahor? Who said, We know him.(Geneva) Genèse 29:5 Il leur dit: Connaissez-vous Laban, fils de Nachor? Ils répondirent: Nous le connaissons.(FR) 5 ׃29 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֔ם הַיְדַעְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־לָבָ֣ן בֶּן־נָח֑וֹר וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ יָדָֽעְנוּ׃ Genesis Gen 29:5 He said to them, "Do you know Laban the son of Nahor?" And they said, "We know him."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:6 ============ Gen 29:6 And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.(KJV) Genesis 29:6 Againe he sayd vnto them, Is he in good health? And they answered, He is in good health, and beholde, his daughter Rahel commeth with the sheepe.(Geneva) Genèse 29:6 Il leur dit: Est-il en bonne santé? Ils répondirent: Il est en bonne santé; et voici Rachel, sa fille, qui vient avec le troupeau.(FR) 6 ׃29 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר לָהֶ֖ם הֲשָׁל֣וֹם ל֑וֹ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ שָׁל֔וֹם וְהִנֵּה֙ רָחֵ֣ל בִּתּ֔וֹ בָּאָ֖ה עִם־הַצֹּֽאן׃ Genesis Gen 29:6 And he said to them, "Is it well with him?" And they said, "It is well, and here is Rachel his daughter coming with the sheep."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:7 ============ Gen 29:7 And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.(KJV) Genesis 29:7 Then he sayd, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time that the cattell shoulde be gathered together: water ye the sheepe and go feede them.(Geneva) Genèse 29:7 Il dit: Voici, il est encore grand jour, et il n'est pas temps de rassembler les troupeaux; abreuvez les brebis, puis allez, et faites-les paître.(FR) 7 ׃29 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הֵ֥ן עוֹד֙ הַיּ֣וֹם גָּד֔וֹל לֹא־עֵ֖ת הֵאָסֵ֣ף הַמִּקְנֶ֑ה הַשְׁק֥וּ הַצֹּ֖אן וּלְכ֥וּ רְעֽוּ׃ Genesis Gen 29:7 He said, "Behold, it is still high day; it is not time for the livestock to be gathered. Water the sheep, and go, pasture them."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:8 ============ Gen 29:8 And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.(KJV) Genesis 29:8 But they sayde, We may not vntill all the flocks be brought together, and till men rolle the stone from the welles mouth, that we may water the sheepe.(Geneva) Genèse 29:8 Ils répondirent: Nous ne le pouvons pas, jusqu'à ce que tous les troupeaux soient rassemblés; c'est alors qu'on roule la pierre de dessus l'ouverture du puits, et qu'on abreuve les brebis.(FR) 8 ׃29 וַיֹּאמְרוּ֮ לֹ֣א נוּכַל֒ עַ֣ד אֲשֶׁ֤ר יֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ כָּל־הָ֣עֲדָרִ֔ים וְגָֽלֲלוּ֙ אֶת־הָאֶ֔בֶן מֵעַ֖ל פִּ֣י הַבְּאֵ֑ר וְהִשְׁקִ֖ינוּ הַצֹּֽאן׃ Genesis Gen 29:8 But they said, "We cannot, until all the flocks are gathered, and they roll the stone from the mouth of the well; then we water the sheep."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:9 ============ Gen 29:9 And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she kept them.(KJV) Genesis 29:9 While he talked with them, Rahel also came with her fathers sheepe, for she kept them.(Geneva) Genèse 29:9 Comme il leur parlait encore, survint Rachel avec le troupeau de son père; car elle était bergère.(FR) 9 ׃29 עוֹדֶ֖נּוּ מְדַבֵּ֣ר עִמָּ֑ם וְרָחֵ֣ל ׀ בָּ֗אָה עִם־הַצֹּאן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאָבִ֔יהָ כִּ֥י רֹעָ֖ה הִֽוא׃ Genesis Gen 29:9 While he was still speaking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was a shepherdess.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:10 ============ Gen 29:10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.(KJV) Genesis 29:10 And assoone as Iaakob saw Rahel ye daughter of Laban his mothers brother, and the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, then came Iaakob neere, & rolled the stone fro the welles mouth, & watered ye flocke of Laban his mothers brother.(Geneva) Genèse 29:10 Lorsque Jacob vit Rachel, fille de Laban, frère de sa mère, et le troupeau de Laban, frère de sa mère, il s'approcha, roula la pierre de dessus l'ouverture du puits, et abreuva le troupeau de Laban, frère de sa mère.(FR) 10 ׃29 וַיְהִ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ רָאָ֨ה יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶת־רָחֵ֗ל בַּת־לָבָן֙ אֲחִ֣י אִמּ֔וֹ וְאֶת־צֹ֥אן לָבָ֖ן אֲחִ֣י אִמּ֑וֹ וַיִּגַּ֣שׁ יַעֲקֹ֗ב וַיָּ֤גֶל אֶת־הָאֶ֙בֶן֙ מֵעַל֙ פִּ֣י הַבְּאֵ֔ר וַיַּ֕שְׁקְ אֶת־צֹ֥אן לָבָ֖ן אֲחִ֥י אִמּֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 29:10 When Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, Jacob went up and rolled the stone from the mouth of the well and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:11 ============ Gen 29:11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.(KJV) Genesis 29:11 And Iaakob kissed Rahel, and lift vp his voyce and wept.(Geneva) Genèse 29:11 Et Jacob baisa Rachel, il éleva la voix et pleura.(FR) 11 ׃29 וַיִּשַּׁ֥ק יַעֲקֹ֖ב לְרָחֵ֑ל וַיִּשָּׂ֥א אֶת־קֹל֖וֹ וַיֵּֽבְךְּ׃ Genesis Gen 29:11 Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted his voice and wept.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:12 ============ Gen 29:12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.(KJV) Genesis 29:12 (For Iaakob tolde Rahel, that he was her fathers brother, & that he was Rebekahs sonne) then she ranne and tolde her father.(Geneva) Genèse 29:12 Jacob apprit à Rachel qu'il était parent de son père, qu'il était fils de Rebecca. Et elle courut l'annoncer à son père.(FR) 12 ׃29 וַיַּגֵּ֨ד יַעֲקֹ֜ב לְרָחֵ֗ל כִּ֣י אֲחִ֤י אָבִ֙יהָ֙ ה֔וּא וְכִ֥י בֶן־רִבְקָ֖ה ה֑וּא וַתָּ֖רָץ וַתַּגֵּ֥ד לְאָבִֽיהָ׃ Genesis Gen 29:12 Jacob told Rachel that he was a relative of her father and that he was Rebekah's son, and she ran and told her father.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:13 ============ Gen 29:13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.(KJV) Genesis 29:13 And when Laban heard tell of Iaakob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house: and he tolde Laban all these things.(Geneva) Genèse 29:13 Dès que Laban eut entendu parler de Jacob, fils de sa soeur, il courut au-devant de lui, il l'embrassa et le baisa, et il le fit venir dans sa maison. Jacob raconta à Laban toutes ces choses.(FR) 13 ׃29 וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ לָבָ֜ן אֶת־שֵׁ֣מַע ׀ יַעֲקֹ֣ב בֶּן־אֲחֹת֗וֹ וַיָּ֤רָץ לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ וַיְחַבֶּק־לוֹ֙ וַיְנַשֶּׁק־ל֔וֹ וַיְבִיאֵ֖הוּ אֶל־בֵּית֑וֹ וַיְסַפֵּ֣ר לְלָבָ֔ן אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ Genesis Gen 29:13 So when Laban heard the news of Jacob his sister's son, he ran to meet him, and embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his house. Then he related to Laban all these things.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:14 ============ Gen 29:14 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.(KJV) Genesis 29:14 To whome Laban sayd, Well, thou art my bone and my flesh; he abode with him the space of a moneth.(Geneva) Genèse 29:14 Et Laban lui dit: Certainement, tu es mon os et ma chair. Jacob demeura un mois chez Laban.(FR) 14 ׃29 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ לָבָ֔ן אַ֛ךְ עַצְמִ֥י וּבְשָׂרִ֖י אָ֑תָּה וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב עִמּ֖וֹ חֹ֥דֶשׁ יָמִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 29:14 Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh." And he stayed with him a month.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:15 ============ Gen 29:15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?(KJV) Genesis 29:15 For Laban sayde vnto Iaakob, Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me, what shalbe thy wages?(Geneva) Genèse 29:15 Puis Laban dit à Jacob: Parce que tu es mon parent, me serviras-tu pour rien? Dis-moi quel sera ton salaire.(FR) 15 ׃29 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָבָן֙ לְיַעֲקֹ֔ב הֲכִי־אָחִ֣י אַ֔תָּה וַעֲבַדְתַּ֖נִי חִנָּ֑ם הַגִּ֥ידָה לִּ֖י מַה־מַּשְׂכֻּרְתֶּֽךָ׃ Genesis Gen 29:15 Then Laban said to Jacob, "Because you are my relative, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what shall your wages be?"(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:16 ============ Gen 29:16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.(KJV) Genesis 29:16 Now Laban had two daughters, the elder called Leah, and the yonger called Rahel.(Geneva) Genèse 29:16 Or, Laban avait deux filles: l'aînée s'appelait Léa, et la cadette Rachel.(FR) 16 ׃29 וּלְלָבָ֖ן שְׁתֵּ֣י בָנ֑וֹת שֵׁ֤ם הַגְּדֹלָה֙ לֵאָ֔ה וְשֵׁ֥ם הַקְּטַנָּ֖ה רָחֵֽל׃ Genesis Gen 29:16 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:17 ============ Gen 29:17 Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.(KJV) Genesis 29:17 And Leah was tender eyed, but Rahel was beautifull and faire.(Geneva) Genèse 29:17 Léa avait les yeux délicats; mais Rachel était belle de taille et belle de figure.(FR) 17 ׃29 וְעֵינֵ֥י לֵאָ֖ה רַכּ֑וֹת וְרָחֵל֙ הָֽיְתָ֔ה יְפַת־תֹּ֖אַר וִיפַ֥ת מַרְאֶֽה׃ Genesis Gen 29:17 And Leah's eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful of form and face.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:18 ============ Gen 29:18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.(KJV) Genesis 29:18 And Iaakob loued Rahel, and sayde, I will serue thee seuen yeeres for Rahel thy yonger daughter.(Geneva) Genèse 29:18 Jacob aimait Rachel, et il dit: Je te servirai sept ans pour Rachel, ta fille cadette.(FR) 18 ׃29 וַיֶּאֱהַ֥ב יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־רָחֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֽ͏ֶעֱבָדְךָ֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים בְּרָחֵ֥ל בִּתְּךָ֖ הַקְּטַנָּֽה׃ Genesis Gen 29:18 Now Jacob loved Rachel, so he said, "I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:19 ============ Gen 29:19 And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.(KJV) Genesis 29:19 Then Laban answered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I should giue her to another man: abide with me.(Geneva) Genèse 29:19 Et Laban dit: J'aime mieux te la donner que de la donner à un autre homme. Reste chez moi!(FR) 19 ׃29 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָבָ֗ן ט֚וֹב תִּתִּ֣י אֹתָ֣הּ לָ֔ךְ מִתִּתִּ֥י אֹתָ֖הּ לְאִ֣ישׁ אַחֵ֑ר שְׁבָ֖ה עִמָּדִֽי׃ Genesis Gen 29:19 Laban said, "It is better that I give her to you than to give her to another man; stay with me."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:20 ============ Gen 29:20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.(KJV) Genesis 29:20 And Iaakob serued seuen yeres for Rahel, and they seemed vnto him but a few dayes, because he loued her.(Geneva) Genèse 29:20 Ainsi Jacob servit sept années pour Rachel: et elles furent à ses yeux comme quelques jours, parce qu'il l'aimait.(FR) 20 ׃29 וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ד יַעֲקֹ֛ב בְּרָחֵ֖ל שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים וַיִּהְי֤וּ בְעֵינָיו֙ כְּיָמִ֣ים אֲחָדִ֔ים בְּאַהֲבָת֖וֹ אֹתָֽהּ׃ Genesis Gen 29:20 So Jacob served seven years for Rachel and they seemed to him but a few days because of his love for her. (nasb) ======= Genesis 29:21 ============ Gen 29:21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.(KJV) Genesis 29:21 Then Iaakob sayde to Laban, Giue me my wife, that I may goe in to her: for my terme is ended.(Geneva) Genèse 29:21 Ensuite Jacob dit à Laban: Donne-moi ma femme, car mon temps est accompli: et j'irai vers elle.(FR) 21 ׃29 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֤ב אֶל־לָבָן֙ הָבָ֣ה אֶת־אִשְׁתִּ֔י כִּ֥י מָלְא֖וּ יָמָ֑י וְאָב֖וֹאָה אֵלֶֽיהָ׃ Genesis Gen 29:21 Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife, for my time is completed, that I may go in to her."(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:22 ============ Gen 29:22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.(KJV) Genesis 29:22 Wherefore Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.(Geneva) Genèse 29:22 Laban réunit tous les gens du lieu, et fit un festin.(FR) 22 ׃29 וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף לָבָ֛ן אֶת־כָּל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י הַמָּק֖וֹם וַיַּ֥עַשׂ מִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ Genesis Gen 29:22 Laban gathered all the men of the place and made a feast.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:23 ============ Gen 29:23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.(KJV) Genesis 29:23 But whe the euening was come, he tooke Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he went in vnto her.(Geneva) Genèse 29:23 Le soir, il prit Léa, sa fille, et l'amena vers Jacob, qui s'approcha d'elle.(FR) 23 ׃29 וַיְהִ֣י בָעֶ֔רֶב וַיִּקַּח֙ אֶת־לֵאָ֣ה בִתּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֵ֥א אֹתָ֖הּ אֵלָ֑יו וַיָּבֹ֖א אֵלֶֽיהָ׃ Genesis Gen 29:23 Now in the evening he took his daughter Leah, and brought her to him; and Jacob went in to her.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:24 ============ Gen 29:24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.(KJV) Genesis 29:24 And Laban gaue his mayde Zilpah to his daughter Leah, to be her seruant.(Geneva) Genèse 29:24 Et Laban donna pour servante à Léa, sa fille, Zilpa, sa servante.(FR) 24 ׃29 וַיִּתֵּ֤ן לָבָן֙ לָ֔הּ אֶת־זִלְפָּ֖ה שִׁפְחָת֑וֹ לְלֵאָ֥ה בִתּ֖וֹ שִׁפְחָֽה׃ Genesis Gen 29:24 Laban also gave his maid Zilpah to his daughter Leah as a maid.(nasb) ======= Genesis 29:25 ============ Gen 29:25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?(KJV) Genesis 29:25 But when the morning was come, behold, it was Leah. Then sayde he to Laban, Wherefore hast thou done thus to mee? did not I serue thee for Rahel? wherfore then hast thou beguiled me?(Geneva) Genèse 29:25 Le lendemain matin, voilà que c'était Léa. Alors Jacob dit à Laban: Qu'est-ce que tu m'as fait? N'est-ce pas pour Rachel que j'ai servi chez toi? Pourquoi m'as-tu trompé?(FR) 25 ׃29 וַיְהִ֣י בַבֹּ֔קֶר וְהִנֵּה־הִ֖וא לֵאָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־לָבָ֗ן מַה־זֹּאת֙ עָשִׂ֣יתָ לִּ֔י הֲלֹ֤א בְרָחֵל֙ עָבַ֣דְתִּי עִמָּ֔ךְ וְלָ֖מָּה רִמִּיתָֽנִי׃ Genesis Gen 29:25 So it came about in the morning that, behold, it was Leah! And he said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served with you?
