Ils prirent de vieux sacs pour leurs ânes, et de vieilles outres à vin déchirées et recousues,(FR) 4 ׃9 וַיַּעֲשׂ֤וּ גַם־הֵ֙מָּה֙ בְּעָרְמָ֔ה וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ וַיִּצְטַיָּ֑רוּ וַיִּקְח֞וּ שַׂקִּ֤ים בָּלִים֙ לַחֲמ֣וֹרֵיהֶ֔ם וְנֹאד֥וֹת יַ֙יִן֙ בָּלִ֔ים וּמְבֻקָּעִ֖ים וּמְצֹרָרִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:4 they also acted craftily and set out as envoys, and took worn-out sacks on their donkeys, and wineskins worn-out and torn and mended,(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:5 ============ Jos 9:5 And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy.(KJV) Joshua 9:5 And olde shoes and clouted vpon their feete: also the raiment vpon them was old, and all their prouision of bread was dried, and mouled.(Geneva) Josué 9:5 ils portaient à leurs pieds de vieux souliers raccommodés, et sur eux de vieux vêtements; et tout le pain qu'ils avaient pour nourriture était sec et en miettes.(FR) 5 ׃9 וּנְעָל֨וֹת בָּל֤וֹת וּמְטֻלָּאוֹת֙ בְּרַגְלֵיהֶ֔ם וּשְׂלָמ֥וֹת בָּל֖וֹת עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וְכֹל֙ לֶ֣חֶם צֵידָ֔ם יָבֵ֖שׁ הָיָ֥ה נִקֻּדִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:5 and worn-out and patched sandals on their feet, and worn-out clothes on themselves; and all the bread of their provision was dry and had become crumbled.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:6 ============ Jos 9:6 And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.(KJV) Joshua 9:6 So they came vnto Ioshua into the hoste to Gilgal, and said vnto him, and vnto the men of Israel, Wee be come from a farre countrey: nowe therefore make a league with vs.(Geneva) Josué 9:6 Ils allèrent auprès de Josué au camp de Guilgal, et ils lui dirent, ainsi qu'à tous ceux d'Israël: Nous venons d'un pays éloigné, et maintenant faites alliance avec nous.(FR) 6 ׃9 וַיֵּלְכ֧וּ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה הַגִּלְגָּ֑ל וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֜יו וְאֶל־אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מֵאֶ֤רֶץ רְחוֹקָה֙ בָּ֔אנוּ וְעַתָּ֖ה כִּרְתוּ־לָ֥נוּ בְרִֽית׃ Joshua Jos 9:6 They went to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal and said to him and to the men of Israel, "We have come from a far country; now therefore, make a covenant with us."(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:7 ============ Jos 9:7 And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?(KJV) Joshua 9:7 Then the men of Israel said vnto the Hiuites, It may be that thou dwellest among vs, how then can I make a league with thee?(Geneva) Josué 9:7 Les hommes d'Israël répondirent à ces Héviens: Peut-être que vous habitez au milieu de nous, et comment ferions-nous alliance avec vous?(FR) 7 ׃9 *ויאמרו **וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אִֽישׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶל־הַחִוִּ֑י אוּלַ֗י בְּקִרְבִּי֙ אַתָּ֣ה יוֹשֵׁ֔ב וְאֵ֖יךְ *אכרות־**אֶֽכְרָת־לְךָ֥ בְרִֽית׃ Joshua Jos 9:7 The men of Israel said to the Hivites, "Perhaps you are living within our land; how then shall we make a covenant with you?"(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:8 ============ Jos 9:8 And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?(KJV) Joshua 9:8 And they said vnto Ioshua, We are thy seruants. Then Ioshua saide vnto them, Who are ye? Then Joshua said to them, "Who are you and where do you come from?"(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:9 ============ Jos 9:9 And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,(KJV) Joshua 9:9 And they answered him, From a very farre countrey thy seruants are come for the Name of the Lorde thy God: for we haue heard his fame and all that he hath done in Egypt,(Geneva) Josué 9:9 Ils lui répondirent: Tes serviteurs viennent d'un pays très éloigné, sur le renom de l'Eternel, ton Dieu; car nous avons entendu parler de lui, de tout ce qu'il a fait en Egypte,(FR) 9 ׃9 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו מֵאֶ֨רֶץ רְחוֹקָ֤ה מְאֹד֙ בָּ֣אוּ עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ לְשֵׁ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֣עְנוּ שָׁמְע֔וֹ וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃ Joshua Jos 9:9 They said to him, "Your servants have come from a very far country because of the fame of the Lord your God; for we have heard the report of Him and all that He did in Egypt,(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:10 ============ Jos 9:10 And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.(KJV) Joshua 9:10 And all that he hath done to the two Kings of the Amorites that were beyonde Iorden, to Sihon King of Heshbon, & to Og King of Bashan, which were at Ashtaroth.(Geneva) Josué 9:10 et de la manière dont il a traité les deux rois des Amoréens au delà du Jourdain, Sihon, roi de Hesbon, et Og, roi de Basan, qui était à Aschtaroth.(FR) 10 ׃9 וְאֵ֣ת ׀ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֗ה לִשְׁנֵי֙ מַלְכֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן לְסִיחוֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ חֶשְׁבּ֔וֹן וּלְע֥וֹג מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֖ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּעַשְׁתָּרֽוֹת׃ Joshua Jos 9:10 and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon and to Og king of Bashan who was at Ashtaroth.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:11 ============ Jos 9:11 Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us.(KJV) Joshua 9:11 Wherefore our elders, and all the inhabitants of our countrey spake to vs, saying, Take vitailes with you for the iourney, and go to meete them, and say vnto them, Wee are your seruants: now therefore make ye a league with vs.(Geneva) Josué 9:11 Et nos anciens et tous les habitants de notre pays nous ont dit: Prenez avec vous des provisions pour le voyage, allez au-devant d'eux, et vous leur direz: Nous sommes vos serviteurs, et maintenant faites alliance avec nous.(FR) 11 ׃9 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלֵ֡ינוּ זְֽקֵינֵינוּ֩ וְכָל־יֹשְׁבֵ֨י אַרְצֵ֜נוּ לֵאמֹ֗ר קְח֨וּ בְיֶדְכֶ֤ם צֵידָה֙ לַדֶּ֔רֶךְ וּלְכ֖וּ לִקְרָאתָ֑ם וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֤ם אֲלֵיהֶם֙ עַבְדֵיכֶ֣ם אֲנַ֔חְנוּ וְעַתָּ֖ה כִּרְתוּ־לָ֥נוּ בְרִֽית׃ Joshua Jos 9:11 So our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, 'Take provisions in your hand for the journey, and go to meet them and say to them, "We are your servants; now then, make a covenant with us."'(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:12 ============ Jos 9:12 This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:(KJV) Joshua 9:12 This our bread we tooke it hote with vs for vittailes out of our houses, the day we departed to come vnto you: but nowe beholde, it is dried, and it is mouled.(Geneva) Josué 9:12 Voici notre pain: il était encore chaud quand nous en avons fait provision dans nos maisons, le jour où nous sommes partis pour venir vers vous, et maintenant il est sec et en miettes.(FR) 12 ׃9 זֶ֣ה ׀ לַחְמֵ֗נוּ חָ֞ם הִצְטַיַּ֤דְנוּ אֹתוֹ֙ מִבָּ֣תֵּ֔ינוּ בְּי֥וֹם צֵאתֵ֖נוּ לָלֶ֣כֶת אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וְעַתָּה֙ הִנֵּ֣ה יָבֵ֔שׁ וְהָיָ֖ה נִקֻּדִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:12 This our bread was warm when we took it for our provisions out of our houses on the day that we left to come to you; but now behold, it is dry and has become crumbled.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:13 ============ Jos 9:13 And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.(KJV) Joshua 9:13 Also these bottels of wine which we filled, were newe, and lo, they be rent, and these our garments and our shooes are olde, by reason of the exceeding great iourney.(Geneva) Josué 9:13 Ces outres à vin, que nous avons remplies toutes neuves, les voilà déchirées; nos vêtements et nos souliers se sont usés par l'excessive longueur de la marche.(FR) 13 ׃9 וְאֵ֨לֶּה נֹאד֤וֹת הַיַּ֙יִן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מִלֵּ֣אנוּ חֲדָשִׁ֔ים וְהִנֵּ֖ה הִתְבַּקָּ֑עוּ וְאֵ֤לֶּה שַׂלְמוֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ וּנְעָלֵ֔ינוּ בָּל֕וּ מֵרֹ֥ב הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ מְאֹֽד׃ Joshua Jos 9:13 These wineskins which we filled were new, and behold, they are torn; and these our clothes and our sandals are worn out because of the very long journey."(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:14 ============ Jos 9:14 And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.(KJV) Joshua 9:14 And the men accepted their tale concerning their vittailes, and counselled not with the mouth of the Lord.(Geneva) Josué 9:14 Les hommes d'Israël prirent de leurs provisions, et ils ne consultèrent point l'Eternel.(FR) 14 ׃9 וַיִּקְח֥וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים מִצֵּידָ֑ם וְאֶת־פִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לֹ֥א שָׁאָֽלוּ׃ Joshua Jos 9:14 So the men of Israel took some of their provisions, and did not ask for the counsel of the Lord.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:15 ============ Jos 9:15 And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.(KJV) Joshua 9:15 So Ioshua made peace with them, & made a league with them, that he would suffer them to liue: also the Princes of the Congregation sware vnto them.(Geneva) Josué 9:15 Josué fit la paix avec eux, et conclut une alliance par laquelle il devait leur laisser la vie, et les chefs de l'assemblée le leur jurèrent.(FR) 15 ׃9 וַיַּ֨עַשׂ לָהֶ֤ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ שָׁל֔וֹם וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת לָהֶ֛ם בְּרִ֖ית לְחַיּוֹתָ֑ם וַיִּשָּׁבְע֣וּ לָהֶ֔ם נְשִׂיאֵ֖י הָעֵדָֽה׃ Joshua Jos 9:15 Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:16 ============ Jos 9:16 And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.(KJV) Joshua 9:16 But at the end of three dayes, after they had made a league with them, they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.(Geneva) Josué 9:16 Trois jours après la conclusion de cette alliance, les enfants d'Israël apprirent qu'ils étaient leurs voisins, et qu'ils habitaient au milieu d'eux.(FR) 16 ׃9 וַיְהִ֗י מִקְצֵה֙ שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֔ים אַחֲרֵ֕י אֲשֶׁר־כָּרְת֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם בְּרִ֑ית וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֗וּ כִּי־קְרֹבִ֥ים הֵם֙ אֵלָ֔יו וּבְקִרְבּ֖וֹ הֵ֥ם יֹשְׁבִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:16 It came about at the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were neighbors and that they were living within their land.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:17 ============ Jos 9:17 And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim.(KJV) Joshua 9:17 And the children of Israel tooke their iourney, and came vnto their cities the third day, and their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth and Kiriath-iearim.(Geneva) Josué 9:17 Car les enfants d'Israël partirent, et arrivèrent à leurs villes le troisième jour; leurs villes étaient Gabaon, Kephira, Beéroth et Kirjath-Jearim.(FR) 17 ׃9 וַיִּסְע֣וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וַיָּבֹ֛אוּ אֶל־עָרֵיהֶ֖ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י וְעָרֵיהֶם֙ גִּבְע֣וֹן וְהַכְּפִירָ֔ה וּבְאֵר֖וֹת וְקִרְיַ֥ת יְעָרִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:17 Then the sons of Israel set out and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon and Chephirah and Beeroth and Kiriath-jearim.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:18 ============ Jos 9:18 And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.(KJV) Joshua 9:18 And the children of Israel slewe them not, because the Princes of the Congregation had sworne vnto them by the Lorde God of Israel: wherefore all the Congregation murmured against the Princes.(Geneva) Josué 9:18 Ils ne les frappèrent point, parce que les chefs de l'assemblée leur avaient juré par l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, de leur laisser la vie. Mais toute l'assemblée murmura contre les chefs.(FR) 18 ׃9 וְלֹ֤א הִכּוּם֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּֽי־נִשְׁבְּע֤וּ לָהֶם֙ נְשִׂיאֵ֣י הָֽעֵדָ֔ה בַּֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּלֹּ֥נוּ כָל־הָעֵדָ֖ה עַל־הַנְּשִׂיאִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:18 The sons of Israel did not strike them because the leaders of the congregation had sworn to them by the Lord the God of Israel. And the whole congregation grumbled against the leaders.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:19 ============ Jos 9:19 But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.(KJV) Joshua 9:19 Then all the Princes said vnto all the Congregation, We haue sworne vnto them by the Lord God of Israel: nowe therefore we may not touch them.(Geneva) Josué 9:19 Et tous les chefs dirent à toute l'assemblée: Nous leur avons juré par l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, et maintenant nous ne pouvons les toucher.(FR) 19 ׃9 וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ כָל־הַנְּשִׂיאִים֙ אֶל־כָּל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ נִשְׁבַּ֣עְנוּ לָהֶ֔ם בַּֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְעַתָּ֕ה לֹ֥א נוּכַ֖ל לִנְגֹּ֥עַ בָּהֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 9:19 But all the leaders said to the whole congregation, "We have sworn to them by the Lord, the God of Israel, and now we cannot touch them.(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:20 ============ Jos 9:20 This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.(KJV) Joshua 9:20 But this we wil doe to them, and let them liue, least the wrath be vpon vs because of the othe which we sware vnto them.(Geneva) Josué 9:20 Voici comment nous les traiterons: nous leur laisserons la vie, afin de ne pas attirer sur nous la colère de l'Eternel, à cause du serment que nous leur avons fait.(FR) 20 ׃9 זֹ֛את נַעֲשֶׂ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם וְהַחֲיֵ֣ה אוֹתָ֑ם וְלֹֽא־יִֽהְיֶ֤ה עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ קֶ֔צֶף עַל־הַשְּׁבוּעָ֖ה אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֥עְנוּ לָהֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 9:20 This we will do to them, even let them live, so that wrath will not be upon us for the oath which we swore to them."(nasb) ======= Joshua 9:21 ============ Jos 9:21 And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them.(KJV) Joshua 9:21 And the Princes sayd vnto them againe, Let them liue, but they shall hewe wood, and drawe water vnto all the Congregation, as the Princes appoint them.(Geneva) Josué 9:21 Ils vivront, leur dirent les chefs. Mais ils furent employés à couper le bois et à puiser l'eau pour toute l'assemblée, comme les chefs le leur avaient dit.(FR) 21 ׃9 וַיֹּאמְר֧וּ אֲלֵיהֶ֛ם הַנְּשִׂיאִ֖ים יִֽחְי֑וּ וַ֠יִּֽהְיוּ חֹטְבֵ֨י עֵצִ֤ים וְשֹֽׁאֲבֵי־מַ֙יִם֙ לְכָל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר דִּבְּר֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם הַנְּשִׂיאִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 9:21 The leaders said to them, "Let them live." traite-nous comme tu trouveras bon et juste de nous traiter.(FR) 25 ׃9 וְעַתָּ֖ה הִנְנ֣וּ בְיָדֶ֑ךָ כַּטּ֨וֹב וְכַיָּשָׁ֧ר בְּעֵינֶ֛יךָ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָ֖נוּ עֲשֵֽׂה׃ Joshua Jos 9:25 Now behold, we are in your hands;
