Prends avec toi tous les gens de guerre, lève-toi, monte contre Aï. Vois, je livre entre tes mains le roi d'Aï et son peuple, sa ville et son pays.(FR) 1 ׃8 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ אַל־תִּירָ֣א וְאַל־תֵּחָ֔ת קַ֣ח עִמְּךָ֗ אֵ֚ת כָּל־עַ֣ם הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְק֖וּם עֲלֵ֣ה הָעָ֑י רְאֵ֣ה ׀ נָתַ֣תִּי בְיָדְךָ֗ אֶת־מֶ֤לֶךְ הָעַי֙ וְאֶת־עַמּ֔וֹ וְאֶת־עִיר֖וֹ וְאֶת־אַרְצֽוֹ׃ Joshua Jos 8:1 Now the Lord said to Joshua, "Do not fear or be dismayed. Take all the people of war with you and arise, go up to Ai; see, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:2 ============ Jos 8:2 And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.(KJV) Joshua 8:2 And thou shalt doe to Ai and to the King thereof, as thou didst vnto Iericho and to the King thereof: neuerthelesse the spoyle thereof and the cattell thereof shall ye take vnto you for a praye: thou shalt lye in wait against the citie on the backside thereof.(Geneva) Josué 8:2 Tu traiteras Aï et son roi comme tu as traité Jéricho et son roi; seulement vous garderez pour vous le butin et le bétail. Place une embuscade derrière la ville.(FR) 2 ׃8 וְעָשִׂ֨יתָ לָעַ֜י וּלְמַלְכָּ֗הּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשִׂ֤יתָ לִּֽירִיחוֹ֙ וּלְמַלְכָּ֔הּ רַק־שְׁלָלָ֥הּ וּבְהֶמְתָּ֖הּ תָּבֹ֣זּוּ לָכֶ֑ם שִׂים־לְךָ֥ אֹרֵ֛ב לָעִ֖יר מֵאַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃ Joshua Jos 8:2 You shall do to Ai and its king just as you did to Jericho and its king; you shall take only its spoil and its cattle as plunder for yourselves. Set an ambush for the city behind it."(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:3 ============ Jos 8:3 So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night.(KJV) Joshua 8:3 Then Ioshua arose, and all the men of warre to goe vp against Ai: and Ioshua chose out thirtie thousand strong men, and valiant, and sent them away by night.(Geneva) Josué 8:3 Josué se leva avec tous les gens de guerre, pour monter contre Aï. Il choisit trente mille vaillants hommes, qu'il fit partir de nuit,(FR) 3 ׃8 וַיָּ֧קָם יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ וְכָל־עַ֥ם הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה לַעֲל֣וֹת הָעָ֑י וַיִּבְחַ֣ר יְ֠הוֹשֻׁעַ שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים אֶ֤לֶף אִישׁ֙ גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י הַחַ֔יִל וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֖ם לָֽיְלָה׃ Joshua Jos 8:3 So Joshua rose with all the people of war to go up to Ai; and Joshua chose 30,000 men, valiant warriors, and sent them out at night.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:4 ============ Jos 8:4 And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in wait against the city, even behind the city: go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:(KJV) Joshua 8:4 And he commanded them, saying, Behold, yee shall lye in waite against the citie on the backeside of the citie: goe not very farre from the citie, but be ye all in a readinesse.(Geneva) Josué 8:4 et auxquels il donna cet ordre: Ecoutez, vous vous mettrez en embuscade derrière la ville; ne vous éloignez pas beaucoup de la ville, et soyez tous prêts.(FR) 4 ׃8 וַיְצַ֨ו אֹתָ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר רְ֠אוּ אַתֶּ֞ם אֹרְבִ֤ים לָעִיר֙ מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י הָעִ֔יר אַל־תַּרְחִ֥יקוּ מִן־הָעִ֖יר מְאֹ֑ד וִהְיִיתֶ֥ם כֻּלְּכֶ֖ם נְכֹנִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 8:4 He commanded them, saying, "See, you are going to ambush the city from behind it. Do not go very far from the city, but all of you be ready.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:5 ============ Jos 8:5 And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,(KJV) Joshua 8:5 And I and all the people that are with me, will approche vnto the citie: and when they shall come out against vs, as they did at the first time, then will we flee before them.(Geneva) Josué 8:5 Mais moi et tout le peuple qui est avec moi, nous nous approcherons de la ville. Et quand ils sortiront à notre rencontre, comme la première fois, nous prendrons la fuite devant eux.(FR) 5 ׃8 וַאֲנִ֗י וְכָל־הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתִּ֔י נִקְרַ֖ב אֶל־הָעִ֑יר וְהָיָ֗ה כִּֽי־יֵצְא֤וּ לִקְרָאתֵ֙נוּ֙ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֔ה וְנַ֖סְנוּ לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 8:5 Then I and all the people who are with me will approach the city. And when they come out to meet us as at the first, we will flee before them.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:6 ============ Jos 8:6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.(KJV) Joshua 8:6 For they wil come out after vs, till we haue brought them out of the citie: for they will say, They flee before vs as at the first time: so we will flee before them.(Geneva) Josué 8:6 Ils nous poursuivront jusqu'à ce que nous les ayons attirés loin de la ville, car ils diront: Ils fuient devant nous, comme la première fois! Et nous fuirons devant eux.(FR) 6 ׃8 וְיָצְא֣וּ אַחֲרֵ֗ינוּ עַ֣ד הַתִּיקֵ֤נוּ אוֹתָם֙ מִן־הָעִ֔יר כִּ֣י יֹֽאמְר֔וּ נָסִ֣ים לְפָנֵ֔ינוּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה וְנַ֖סְנוּ לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 8:6 They will come out after us until we have drawn them away from the city, for they will say, 'They are fleeing before us as at the first.' So we will flee before them.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:7 ============ Jos 8:7 Then ye shall rise up from the ambush, and seize upon the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand.(KJV) Joshua 8:7 Then you shall rise vp from lying in waite and destroy the citie: for the Lord your God wil deliuer it into your hand.(Geneva) Josué 8:7 Vous sortirez alors de l'embuscade, et vous vous emparerez de la ville, et l'Eternel, votre Dieu, la livrera entre vos mains.(FR) 7 ׃8 וְאַתֶּ֗ם תָּקֻ֙מוּ֙ מֵהָ֣אוֹרֵ֔ב וְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּ֖ם אֶת־הָעִ֑יר וּנְתָנָ֛הּ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם בְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 8:7 And you shall rise from your ambush and take possession of the city, for the Lord your God will deliver it into your hand.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:8 ============ Jos 8:8 And it shall be, when ye have taken the city, that ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the LORD shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.(KJV) Joshua 8:8 And when ye haue taken the citie, ye shall set it on fire: according to the commandement of the Lord shall ye do: behold, I haue charged you.(Geneva) Josué 8:8 Quand vous aurez pris la ville, vous y mettrez le feu, vous agirez comme l'Eternel l'a dit: c'est l'ordre que je vous donne.(FR) 8 ׃8 וְהָיָ֞ה כְּתָפְשְׂכֶ֣ם אֶת־הָעִ֗יר תַּצִּ֤יתוּ אֶת־הָעִיר֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ רְא֖וּ צִוִּ֥יתִי אֶתְכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 8:8 Then it will be when you have seized the city, that you shall set the city on fire. You shall do it according to the word of the Lord. See, I have commanded you."(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:9 ============ Jos 8:9 Joshua therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.(KJV) Joshua 8:9 Ioshua then sent them foorth, and they went to lye in waite, and abode betweene Beth-el and Ai, on the Westside of Ai: but Ioshua lodged that night among the people.(Geneva) Josué 8:9 Josué les fit partir, et ils allèrent se placer en embuscade entre Béthel et Aï, à l'occident d'Aï. Mais Josué passa cette nuit-là au milieu du peuple.(FR) 9 ׃8 וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֣ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ אֶל־הַמַּאְרָ֔ב וַיֵּשְׁב֗וּ בֵּ֧ין בֵּֽית־אֵ֛ל וּבֵ֥ין הָעַ֖י מִיָּ֣ם לָעָ֑י וַיָּ֧לֶן יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ בַּלַּ֥יְלָה הַה֖וּא בְּת֥וֹךְ הָעָֽם׃ Joshua Jos 8:9 So Joshua sent them away, and they went to the place of ambush and remained between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai; but Joshua spent that night among the people.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:10 ============ Jos 8:10 And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.(KJV) Joshua 8:10 And Ioshua rose vp early in the morning, and nombred the people: and he and the Elders of Israel went vp before the people against Ai.(Geneva) Josué 8:10 Josué se leva de bon matin, passa le peuple en revue, et marcha contre Aï, à la tête du peuple, lui et les anciens d'Israël.(FR) 10 ׃8 וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֤ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר וַיִּפְקֹ֖ד אֶת־הָעָ֑ם וַיַּ֨עַל ה֜וּא וְזִקְנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל לִפְנֵ֥י הָעָ֖ם הָעָֽי׃ Joshua Jos 8:10 Now Joshua rose early in the morning and mustered the people, and he went up with the elders of Israel before the people to Ai.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:11 ============ Jos 8:11 And all the people, even the people of war that were with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now there was a valley between them and Ai.(KJV) Joshua 8:11 Also all the men of warre that were with him went vp and drewe neere, and came against the citie, and pitched on the Northside of Ai: and there was a valley betweene them and Ai.(Geneva) Josué 8:11 Tous les gens de guerre qui étaient avec lui montèrent et s'approchèrent; lorsqu'ils furent arrivés en face de la ville, ils campèrent au nord d'Aï, dont ils étaient séparés par la vallée.(FR) 11 ׃8 וְכָל־הָעָ֨ם הַמִּלְחָמָ֜ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֗וֹ עָלוּ֙ וַֽיִּגְּשׁ֔וּ וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ נֶ֣גֶד הָעִ֑יר וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ מִצְּפ֣וֹן לָעַ֔י וְהַגַּ֖י *בינו **בֵּינָ֥יו וּבֵין־הָעָֽי׃ Joshua Jos 8:11 Then all the people of war who were with him went up and drew near and arrived in front of the city, and camped on the north side of Ai. Now there was a valley between him and Ai.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:12 ============ Jos 8:12 And he took about five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of the city.(KJV) Joshua 8:12 And hee tooke about fiue thousande men, and set them to lye in waite betweene Beth-el and Ai, on the Westside of the citie.(Geneva) Josué 8:12 Josué prit environ cinq mille hommes, et les mit en embuscade entre Béthel et Aï, à l'occident de la ville.(FR) 12 ׃8 וַיִּקַּ֕ח כַּחֲמֵ֥שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֖ים אִ֑ישׁ וַיָּ֨שֶׂם אוֹתָ֜ם אֹרֵ֗ב בֵּ֧ין בֵּֽית־אֵ֛ל וּבֵ֥ין הָעַ֖י מִיָּ֥ם לָעִֽיר׃ Joshua Jos 8:12 And he took about 5,000 men and set them in ambush between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of the city.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:13 ============ Jos 8:13 And when they had set the people, even all the host that was on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.(KJV) Joshua 8:13 And the people set all the hoste that was on the Northside against the citie, and the liers in waite on the West, against the citie: and Ioshua went the same night into the mids of the valley.(Geneva) Josué 8:13 Après que tout le camp eut pris position au nord de la ville, et l'embuscade à l'occident de la ville, Josué s'avança cette nuit-là au milieu de la vallée.(FR) 13 ׃8 וַיָּשִׂ֨ימוּ הָעָ֜ם אֶת־כָּל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֗ה אֲשֶׁר֙ מִצְּפ֣וֹן לָעִ֔יר וְאֶת־עֲקֵב֖וֹ מִיָּ֣ם לָעִ֑יר וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ בַּלַּ֥יְלָה הַה֖וּא בְּת֥וֹךְ הָעֵֽמֶק׃ Joshua Jos 8:13 So they stationed the people, all the army that was on the north side of the city, and its rear guard on the west side of the city, and Joshua spent that night in the midst of the valley.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:14 ============ Jos 8:14 And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city.(KJV) Joshua 8:14 And when the King of Ai sawe it, then the men of the citie hasted and rose vp earely, and went out against Israel to battell, hee and all his people at the time appointed, before the plaine: for he knew not that any lay in waite against him on the backeside of the citie.(Geneva) Josué 8:14 Lorsque le roi d'Aï vit cela, les gens d'Aï se levèrent en hâte de bon matin, et sortirent à la rencontre d'Israël, pour le combattre. Le roi se dirigea, avec tout son peuple, vers un lieu fixé, du côté de la plaine, et il ne savait pas qu'il y avait derrière la ville une embuscade contre lui.(FR) 14 ׃8 וַיְהִ֞י כִּרְא֣וֹת מֶֽלֶךְ־הָעַ֗י וַֽיְמַהֲר֡וּ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֡ימוּ וַיֵּצְא֣וּ אַנְשֵֽׁי־הָעִ֣יר לִקְרַֽאת־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל לַֽמִּלְחָמָ֞ה ה֧וּא וְכָל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמּוֹעֵ֖ד לִפְנֵ֣י הָֽעֲרָבָ֑ה וְהוּא֙ לֹ֣א יָדַ֔ע כִּֽי־אֹרֵ֥ב ל֖וֹ מֵאַחֲרֵ֥י הָעִֽיר׃ Joshua Jos 8:14 It came about when the king of Ai saw it, that the men of the city hurried and rose up early and went out to meet Israel in battle, he and all his people at the appointed place before the desert plain. But he did not know that there was an ambush against him behind the city.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:15 ============ Jos 8:15 And Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness.(KJV) Joshua 8:15 Then Ioshua and all Israel as beaten before them, fled by the way of the wildernes.(Geneva) Josué 8:15 Josué et tout Israël feignirent d'être battus devant eux, et ils s'enfuirent par le chemin du désert.(FR) 15 ׃8 וַיִּנָּֽ[m]גְע֛וּ יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ דֶּ֥רֶךְ הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ Joshua Jos 8:15 Joshua and all Israel pretended to be beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:16 ============ Jos 8:16 And all the people that were in Ai were called together to pursue after them: and they pursued after Joshua, and were drawn away from the city.(KJV) Joshua 8:16 And all the people of the citie were called together, to pursue after them: and they pursued after Ioshua, & were drawen away out of the city,(Geneva) Josué 8:16 Alors tout le peuple qui était dans la ville s'assembla pour se mettre à leur poursuite. Ils poursuivirent Josué, et ils furent attirés loin de la ville.(FR) 16 ׃8 וַיִּזָּעֲק֗וּ כָּל־הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר *בעיר **בָּעַ֔י לִרְדֹּ֖ף אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם וַֽיִּרְדְּפוּ֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ וַיִּנָּתְק֖וּ מִן־הָעִֽיר׃ Joshua Jos 8:16 And all the people who were in the city were called together to pursue them, and they pursued Joshua and were drawn away from the city.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:17 ============ Jos 8:17 And there was not a man left in Ai or Bethel, that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued after Israel.(KJV) Joshua 8:17 So that there was not a man left in Ai, nor in Beth-el, that went not out after Israel: and they left the citie open, and pursued after Israel.(Geneva) Josué 8:17 Il n'y eut dans Aï et dans Béthel pas un homme qui ne sortît contre Israël. Ils laissèrent la ville ouverte, et poursuivirent Israël.(FR) 17 ׃8 וְלֹֽא־נִשְׁאַ֣ר אִ֗ישׁ בָּעַי֙ וּבֵ֣ית אֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יָצְא֖וּ אַחֲרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּעַזְב֤וּ אֶת־הָעִיר֙ פְּתוּחָ֔ה וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ אַחֲרֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פ Joshua Jos 8:17 So not a man was left in Ai or Bethel who had not gone out after Israel, and they left the city unguarded and pursued Israel.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:18 ============ Jos 8:18 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city.(KJV) Joshua 8:18 Then the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Stretch out the speare that is in thine hande, towarde Ai: for I wil giue it into thine hand: and Ioshua stretched out the speare that hee had in his hand, toward the citie.(Geneva) Josué 8:18 L'Eternel dit à Josué: Etends vers Aï le javelot que tu as à la main, car je vais la livrer en ton pouvoir. Et Josué étendit vers la ville le javelot qu'il avait à la main.(FR) 18 ׃8 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ נְ֠טֵה בַּכִּיד֤וֹן אֲשֶׁר־בְּיָֽדְךָ֙ אֶל־הָעַ֔י כִּ֥י בְיָדְךָ֖ אֶתְּנֶ֑נָּה וַיֵּ֧ט יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ בַּכִּיד֥וֹן אֲשֶׁר־בְּיָד֖וֹ אֶל־הָעִֽיר׃ Joshua Jos 8:18 Then the Lord said to Joshua, "Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand." So Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:19 ============ Jos 8:19 And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted and set the city on fire.(KJV) Joshua 8:19 And they that lay in wait, arose quickly out of their place, and ranne as soone as he had stretched out his hand, and they entred into the citie, and tooke it, and hasted, and set the citie on fire.(Geneva) Josué 8:19 Aussitôt qu'il eut étendu sa main, les hommes en embuscade sortirent précipitamment du lieu où ils étaient; ils pénétrèrent dans la ville, la prirent, et se hâtèrent d'y mettre le feu.(FR) 19 ׃8 וְהָאוֹרֵ֡ב קָם֩ מְהֵרָ֨ה מִמְּקוֹמ֤וֹ וַיָּר֙וּצוּ֙ כִּנְט֣וֹת יָד֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ הָעִ֖יר וַֽיִּלְכְּד֑וּהָ וַֽיְמַהֲר֔וּ וַיַּצִּ֥יתוּ אֶת־הָעִ֖יר בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ Joshua Jos 8:19 The men in ambush rose quickly from their place, and when he had stretched out his hand, they ran and entered the city and captured it, and they quickly set the city on fire.(nasb) ======= Joshua 8:20 ============ Jos 8:20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.(KJV) Joshua 8:20 And the men of Ai looked behinde them, and sawe it: for loe, the smoke of the citie ascended vp to heauen, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: for the people that fled to the wildernesse, turned backe vpon the pursuers.(Geneva) Josué 8:20 Les gens d'Aï, ayant regardé derrière eux, virent la fumée de la ville monter vers le ciel, et ils ne purent se sauver d'aucun côté.
