(nasb) ======= Jonah 4:2 ============ Jon 4:2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.(KJV) Jonah 4:2 And he prayed vnto the Lord, and saide, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my countrey? therefore I preuented it to flee vnto Tarshish: for I knewe that thou art a gratious God, & merciful, slow to anger, & of great kindnes, and repentest thee of the euill.(Geneva) Jonas 4:2 Il implora l'Eternel, et il dit: Ah! Eternel, n'est-ce pas ce que je disais quand j'étais encore dans mon pays? C'est ce que je voulais prévenir en fuyant à Tarsis. Car je savais que tu es un Dieu compatissant et miséricordieux, lent à la colère et riche en bonté, et qui te repens du mal.(FR) 2 ׃4 וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֨ל אֶל־יְהוָ֜ה וַיֹּאמַ֗ר אָנָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ הֲלוֹא־זֶ֣ה דְבָרִ֗י עַד־הֱיוֹתִי֙ עַל־אַדְמָתִ֔י עַל־כֵּ֥ן קִדַּ֖מְתִּי לִבְרֹ֣חַ תַּרְשִׁ֑ישָׁה כִּ֣י יָדַ֗עְתִּי כִּ֤י אַתָּה֙ אֵֽל־חַנּ֣וּן וְרַח֔וּם אֶ֤רֶךְ אַפַּ֙יִם֙ וְרַב־חֶ֔סֶד וְנִחָ֖ם עַל־הָרָעָֽה׃ Jonah Jon 4:2 He prayed to the Lord and said, "Please Lord, was not this what I said while I was still in my own country? Therefore in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity. (nasb) ======= Jonah 4:3 ============ Jon 4:3 Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.(KJV) Jonah 4:3 Therefore nowe O Lorde, take, I beseech thee, my life from me: for it is better for me to die then to liue.(Geneva) Jonas 4:3 Maintenant, Eternel, prends-moi donc la vie, car la mort m'est préférable à la vie.(FR) 3 ׃4 וְעַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה קַח־נָ֥א אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֖י מִמֶּ֑נִּי כִּ֛י ט֥וֹב מוֹתִ֖י מֵחַיָּֽי׃ ס Jonah Jon 4:3 Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for death is better to me than life."(nasb) ======= Jonah 4:4 ============ Jon 4:4 Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?(KJV) Jonah 4:4 Then saide the Lorde, Doest thou well to be angry?(Geneva) Jonas 4:4 L'Eternel répondit: Fais-tu bien de t'irriter?(FR) 4 ׃4 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה הַהֵיטֵ֖ב חָ֥רָה לָֽךְ׃ Jonah Jon 4:4 The Lord said, "Do you have good reason to be angry?"(nasb) ======= Jonah 4:5 ============ Jon 4:5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.(KJV) Jonah 4:5 So Ionah went out of the citie and sate on the East side of the citie, and there made him a boothe, and sate vnder it in the shadowe till he might see what should be done in the citie.(Geneva) Jonas 4:5 Et Jonas sortit de la ville, et s'assit à l'orient de la ville, Là il se fit une cabane, et s'y tint à l'ombre, jusqu'à ce qu'il vît ce qui arriverait dans la ville.(FR) 5 ׃4 וַיֵּצֵ֤א יוֹנָה֙ מִן־הָעִ֔יר וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב מִקֶּ֣דֶם לָעִ֑יר וַיַּעַשׂ֩ ל֨וֹ שָׁ֜ם סֻכָּ֗ה וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב תַּחְתֶּ֙יהָ֙ בַּצֵּ֔ל עַ֚ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִרְאֶ֔ה מַה־יִּהְיֶ֖ה בָּעִֽיר׃ Jonah Jon 4:5 Then Jonah went out from the city and sat east of it. There he made a shelter for himself and sat under it in the shade until he could see what would happen in the city. (nasb) ======= Jonah 4:6 ============ Jon 4:6 And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.(KJV) Jonah 4:6 And the Lorde God prepared a gourde, and made it to come vp ouer Ionah, that it might be a shadowe ouer his head and deliuer him from his griefe. So Ionah was exceeding glad of the gourde.(Geneva) Jonas 4:6 L'Eternel Dieu fit croître un ricin, qui s'éleva au-dessus de Jonas, pour donner de l'ombre sur sa tête et pour lui ôter son irritation. Jonas éprouva une grande joie à cause de ce ricin.(FR) 6 ׃4 וַיְמַ֣ן יְהוָֽה־אֱ֠לֹהִים קִיקָי֞וֹן וַיַּ֣עַל ׀ מֵעַ֣ל לְיוֹנָ֗ה לִֽהְי֥וֹת צֵל֙ עַל־רֹאשׁ֔וֹ לְהַצִּ֥יל ל֖וֹ מֵרָֽעָת֑וֹ וַיִּשְׂמַ֥ח יוֹנָ֛ה עַל־הַקּֽ͏ִיקָי֖וֹן שִׂמְחָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃ Jonah Jon 4:6 So the Lord God appointed a plant and it grew up over Jonah to be a shade over his head to deliver him from his discomfort. And Jonah was extremely happy about the plant. (nasb) ======= Jonah 4:8 ============ Jon 4:8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.(KJV) Jonah 4:8 And when the sunne did arise, God prepared also a feruent East winde: and the sunne beat vpon the head of Ionah, that he fainted, and wished in his heart to die, and said, It is better for me to dye, then to liue.(Geneva) Jonas 4:8 Au lever du soleil, Dieu fit souffler un vent chaud d'orient, et le soleil frappa la tête de Jonas, au point qu'il tomba en défaillance. Il demanda la mort, et dit: La mort m'est préférable à la vie.(FR) 8 ׃4 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כִּזְרֹ֣חַ הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ וַיְמַ֨ן אֱלֹהִ֜ים ר֤וּחַ קָדִים֙ חֲרִישִׁ֔ית וַתַּ֥ךְ הַשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ יוֹנָ֖ה וַיִּתְעַלָּ֑ף וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ֙ לָמ֔וּת וַיֹּ֕אמֶר ט֥וֹב מוֹתִ֖י מֵחַיָּֽי׃ Jonah Jon 4:8 When the sun came up God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head so that he became faint and begged with all his soul to die, saying, "Death is better to me than life."(nasb) ======= Jonah 4:9 ============ Jon 4:9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.(KJV) Jonah 4:9 And God said vnto Ionah, Doest thou wel to be angrie for the gourde? Il répondit: Je fais bien de m'irriter jusqu'à la mort.(FR) 9 ׃4 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל־יוֹנָ֔ה הַהֵיטֵ֥ב חָרָֽה־לְךָ֖ עַל־הַקִּֽיקָי֑וֹן וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הֵיטֵ֥ב חָֽרָה־לִ֖י עַד־מָֽוֶת׃ Jonah Jon 4:9 Then God said to Jonah," Do you have good reason to be angry about the plant?" And he said, "I have good reason to be angry, even to death."(nasb) ======= Jonah 4:10 ============ Jon 4:10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:(KJV) Jonah 4:10 Then said the Lorde, Thou hast had pitie on the gourde for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it growe, which came vp in a night, and perished in a night,(Geneva) Jonas 4:10 Et l'Eternel dit: Tu as pitié du ricin qui ne t'a coûté aucune peine et que tu n'as pas fait croître, qui est né dans une nuit et qui a péri dans une nuit.(FR) 10 ׃4 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה אַתָּ֥ה חַ֙סְתָּ֙ עַל־הַקִּ֣יקָי֔וֹן אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא־עָמַ֥לְתָּ בּ֖וֹ וְלֹ֣א גִדַּלְתּ֑וֹ שֶׁבִּן־לַ֥יְלָה הָיָ֖ה וּבִן־לַ֥יְלָה אָבָֽד׃ Jonah Jon 4:10 Then the Lord said, "You had compassion on the plant for which you did not work and which you did not cause to grow, which came up overnight and perished overnight. (nasb) ======= Jonah 4:11 ============ Jon 4:11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more then sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?(kjv) Jonah 4:11 And shoulde not I spare Nineueh that great citie, wherein are sixe score thousande persons, that cannot discerne betweene their right hand, and their left hand, and also much cattell?(Geneva) Jonas 4:11 Et moi, je n'aurais pas pitié de Ninive, la grande ville, dans laquelle se trouvent plus de cent vingt mille hommes qui ne savent pas distinguer leur droite de leur gauche, et des animaux en grand nombre!(FR) 11 ׃4 וַֽאֲנִי֙ לֹ֣א אָח֔וּס עַל־נִינְוֵ֖ה הָעִ֣יר הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶשׁ־בָּ֡הּ הַרְבֵּה֩ מִֽשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵ֨ה רִבּ֜וֹ אָדָ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־יָדַע֙ בֵּין־יְמִינ֣וֹ לִשְׂמֹאל֔וֹ וּבְהֵמָ֖ה רַבָּֽה׃ Jonah Jon 4:11 Should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know the difference between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?"
