Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.(KJV) Obadiah 1:1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lorde God against Edom, We haue heard a rumor fro the Lorde, and an ambassadour is sent among the heathen: arise, & let vs rise vp against her to battel.(Geneva) Abdias 1:1 Prophétie d'Abdias. Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Eternel, sur Edom: -Nous avons appris une nouvelle de la part de l'Eternel, Et un messager a été envoyé parmi les nations: Levez-vous, marchons contre Edom pour lui faire la guerre! -(FR) 1 ׃1 חֲז֖וֹן עֹֽבַדְיָ֑ה כֹּֽה־אָמַר֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י יְהוִ֜ה לֶאֱד֗וֹם שְׁמוּעָ֨ה שָׁמַ֜עְנוּ מֵאֵ֤ת יְהוָה֙ וְצִיר֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם שֻׁלָּ֔ח ק֛וּמוּ וְנָק֥וּמָה עָלֶיהָ[c] לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ Obadiah Oba 1:1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom-- We have heard a report from the Lord, And an envoy has been sent among the nations saying, "Arise and let us go against her for battle"--(nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:2 ============ Oba 1:2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.(KJV) Obadiah 1:2 Beholde, I haue made thee smal among the heathen: thou art vtterly despised.(Geneva) Abdias 1:2 Voici, je te rendrai petit parmi les nations, Tu seras l'objet du plus grand mépris.(FR) 2 ׃1 הִנֵּ֥ה קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם בָּז֥וּי אַתָּ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃ Obadiah Oba 1:2 "Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You are greatly despised. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:3 ============ Oba 1:3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?(KJV) Obadiah 1:3 The pride of thine heart hath deceiued thee: thou that dwellest in the cleftes of the rockes, whose habitatio is hie, that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me downe to the ground?(Geneva) Abdias 1:3 L'orgueil de ton coeur t'a égaré, Toi qui habites le creux des rochers, Qui t'assieds sur les hauteurs, Et qui dis en toi-même: Qui me précipitera jusqu'à terre?(FR) 3 ׃1 זְד֤וֹן לִבְּךָ֙ הִשִּׁיאֶ֔ךָ שֹׁכְנִ֥י בְחַגְוֵי־סֶ֖לַע מְר֣וֹם שִׁבְתּ֑וֹ אֹמֵ֣ר בְּלִבּ֔וֹ מִ֥י יוֹרִדֵ֖נִי אָֽרֶץ׃ Obadiah Oba 1:3 "The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, You who live in the clefts of the rock, In the loftiness of your dwelling place, Who say in your heart, 'Who will bring me down to earth?'(nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:4 ============ Oba 1:4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.(KJV) Obadiah 1:4 Though thou exalt thy selfe as the egle, and make thy nest among the starres, thence will I bring thee downe, sayth the Lord.(Geneva) Abdias 1:4 Quand tu placerais ton nid aussi haut que celui de l'aigle, Quand tu le placerais parmi les étoiles, Je t'en précipiterai, dit l'Eternel.(FR) 4 ׃1 אִם־תַּגְבִּ֣יהַּ כַּנֶּ֔שֶׁר וְאִם־בֵּ֥ין כּֽוֹכָבִ֖ים שִׂ֣ים קִנֶּ֑ךָ מִשָּׁ֥ם אוֹרִֽידְךָ֖ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃ Obadiah Oba 1:4 "Though you build high like the eagle, Though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down," declares the Lord. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:5 ============ Oba 1:5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?(KJV) Obadiah 1:5 Came theeues to thee or robbers by night? howe wast thou brought to silence? woulde they not haue stolen, til they had ynough? if the grape gatherers came to thee, woulde they not leaue some grapes?(Geneva) Abdias 1:5 Si des voleurs, des pillards, viennent de nuit chez toi, Comme te voilà dévasté! Mais enlèvent-ils plus qu'ils ne peuvent? Si des vendangeurs viennent chez toi, Ne laissent-ils rien à grappiller?...(FR) 5 ׃1 אִם־גַּנָּבִ֤ים בָּאֽוּ־לְךָ֙ אִם־שׁ֣וֹדְדֵי לַ֔יְלָה אֵ֣יךְ נִדְמֵ֔יתָה הֲל֥וֹא יִגְנְב֖וּ דַּיָּ֑ם אִם־בֹּֽצְרִים֙ בָּ֣אוּ לָ֔ךְ הֲל֖וֹא יַשְׁאִ֥ירוּ עֹלֵלֽוֹת׃ Obadiah Oba 1:5 "If thieves came to you, If robbers by night" O how you will be ruined!-- Would they not steal only until they had enough? If grape gatherers came to you, Would they not leave some gleanings? (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:6 ============ Oba 1:6 How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!(KJV) Obadiah 1:6 Howe are the things of Esau sought vp, and his treasures searched?(Geneva) Abdias 1:6 Ah! comme Esaü est fouillé! Comme ses trésors sont découverts!(FR) 6 ׃1 אֵ֚יךְ נֶחְפְּשׂ֣וּ עֵשָׂ֔ו נִבְע֖וּ מַצְפֻּנָֽיו׃ Obadiah Oba 1:6 "O how Esau will be ransacked, And his hidden treasures searched out! (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:7 ============ Oba 1:7 All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; that they eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.(KJV) Obadiah 1:7 All the men of thy confederacie haue driuen thee to ye borders: the men that were at peace with thee, haue deceiued thee, and preuailed against thee: they that eate thy bread, haue laid a wound vnder thee: there is none vnderstanding in him.(Geneva) Abdias 1:7 Tous tes alliés t'ont chassé jusqu'à la frontière, Tes amis t'ont joué, t'ont dominé, Ceux qui mangeaient ton pain t'ont dressé des pièges, Et tu n'as pas su t'en apercevoir!(FR) 7 ׃1 עַֽד־הַגְּב֣וּל שִׁלְּח֗וּךָ כֹּ֚ל אַנְשֵׁ֣י בְרִיתֶ֔ךָ הִשִּׁיא֛וּךָ יָכְל֥וּ לְךָ֖ אַנְשֵׁ֣י שְׁלֹמֶ֑ךָ לַחְמְךָ֗ יָשִׂ֤ימוּ מָזוֹר֙ תַּחְתֶּ֔יךָ אֵ֥ין תְּבוּנָ֖ה בּֽוֹ׃ Obadiah Oba 1:7 "All the men allied with you Will send you forth to the border, And the men at peace with you Will deceive you and overpower you. They who eat your bread Will set an ambush for you. (There is no understanding in him. )(nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:8 ============ Oba 1:8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?(KJV) Obadiah 1:8 Shall not I in that day, saith the Lorde, euen destroy the wise men out of Edom, and vnderstanding from the mount of Esau?(Geneva) Abdias 1:8 N'est-ce pas en ce jour, dit l'Eternel, Que je ferai disparaître d'Edom les sages, Et de la montagne d'Esaü l'intelligence?(FR) 8 ׃1 הֲל֛וֹא בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא נְאֻם יְהוָ֑ה וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֤י חֲכָמִים֙ מֵֽאֱד֔וֹם וּתְבוּנָ֖ה מֵהַ֥ר עֵשָֽׂו׃ Obadiah Oba 1:8 "Will I not on that day," declares the Lord, "Destroy wise men from Edom And understanding from the mountain of Esau? (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:9 ============ Oba 1:9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.(KJV) Obadiah 1:9 And thy strong men, O Teman, shall bee afraide, because euery one of the mount of Esau shalbe cut off by slaughter.(Geneva) Abdias 1:9 Tes guerriers, ô Théman, seront dans l'épouvante, Car tous ceux de la montagne d'Esaü périront dans le carnage.(FR) 9 ׃1 וְחַתּ֥וּ גִבּוֹרֶ֖יךָ תֵּימָ֑ן לְמַ֧עַן יִכָּֽרֶת־אִ֛ישׁ מֵהַ֥ר עֵשָׂ֖ו מִקָּֽטֶל׃ Obadiah Oba 1:9 "Then your mighty men will be dismayed, O Teman, So that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:10 ============ Oba 1:10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.(KJV) Obadiah 1:10 For thy crueltie against thy brother Iaakob, shame shal couer thee, and thou shalt be cut off for euer.(Geneva) Abdias 1:10 A cause de ta violence contre ton frère Jacob, Tu seras couvert de honte, Et tu seras exterminé pour toujours.(FR) 10 ׃1 מֵחֲמַ֛ס אָחִ֥יךָ יַעֲקֹ֖ב תְּכַסְּךָ֣ בוּשָׁ֑ה וְנִכְרַ֖תָּ לְעוֹלָֽם׃ Obadiah Oba 1:10 "Because of violence to your brother Jacob, You will be covered with shame, And you will be cut off forever. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:11 ============ Oba 1:11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.(KJV) Obadiah 1:11 When thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers caried away his substance, and straungers entred into his gates, and cast lots vpon Ierusalem, euen thou wast as one of them.(Geneva) Abdias 1:11 Le jour où tu te tenais en face de lui, Le jour où des étrangers emmenaient captive son armée, Où des étrangers entraient dans ses portes, Et jetaient le sort sur Jérusalem, Toi aussi tu étais comme l'un d'eux.(FR) 11 ׃1 בְּיוֹם֙ עֲמָֽדְךָ֣ מִנֶּ֔גֶד בְּי֛וֹם שְׁב֥וֹת זָרִ֖ים חֵיל֑וֹ וְנָכְרִ֞ים בָּ֣אוּ *שערו **שְׁעָרָ֗יו וְעַל־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ יַדּ֣וּ גוֹרָ֔ל גַּם־אַתָּ֖ה כְּאַחַ֥ד מֵהֶֽם׃ Obadiah Oba 1:11 "On the day that you stood aloof, On the day that strangers carried off his wealth, And foreigners entered his gate And cast lots for Jerusalem" You too were as one of them. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:12 ============ Oba 1:12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.(KJV) Obadiah 1:12 But thou shouldest not haue beholden the day of thy brother, in the day that hee was made a stranger, neither shouldest thou haue reioyced ouer the children of Iudah, in the day of their destruction: thou shouldest not haue spoken proudly in the day of affliction.(Geneva) Abdias 1:12 Ne repais pas ta vue du jour de ton frère, du jour de son malheur, Ne te réjouis pas sur les enfants de Juda au jour de leur ruine, Et n'ouvre pas une grande bouche au jour de la détresse!(FR) 12 ׃1 וְאַל־תֵּ֤רֶא בְיוֹם־אָחִ֙יךָ֙ בְּי֣וֹם נָכְר֔וֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׂמַ֥ח לִבְנֵֽי יְהוּדָ֖ה בְּי֣וֹם אָבְדָ֑ם וְאַל־תַּגְדֵּ֥ל פִּ֖יךָ בְּי֥וֹם צָרָֽה׃ Obadiah Oba 1:12 "Do not gloat over your brother's day, The day of his misfortune. And do not rejoice over the sons of Judah In the day of their destruction; Yes, do not boast In the day of their distress. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:13 ============ Oba 1:13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;(KJV) Obadiah 1:13 Thou shouldest not haue entred into the gate of my people, in the day of their destruction, neither shouldest thou haue once looked on their affliction in the day of their destruction, nor haue layde hands on their substance in the day of their destruction.(Geneva) Abdias 1:13 N'entre pas dans les portes de mon peuple au jour de sa ruine, Ne repais pas ta vue de son malheur au jour de sa ruine, Et ne porte pas la main sur ses richesses au jour de sa ruine!(FR) 13 ׃1 אַל־תָּב֤וֹא בְשַֽׁעַר־עַמִּי֙ בְּי֣וֹם אֵידָ֔ם אַל־תֵּ֧רֶא גַם־אַתָּ֛ה בְּרָעָת֖וֹ בְּי֣וֹם אֵיד֑וֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׁלַ֥חְנָה בְחֵיל֖וֹ בְּי֥וֹם אֵידֽוֹ׃ Obadiah Oba 1:13 "Do not enter the gate of My people In the day of their disaster. Yes, you, do not gloat over their calamity In the day of their disaster. And do not loot their wealth In the day of their disaster. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:14 ============ Oba 1:14 Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.(KJV) Obadiah 1:14 Neyther shouldest thou haue stande in the crosse wayes to cut off them, that shoulde escape, neither shouldest thou haue shut vp the remnant thereof in the day of affliction.(Geneva) Abdias 1:14 Ne te tiens pas au carrefour pour exterminer ses fuyards, Et ne livre pas ses réchappés au jour de la détresse!(FR) 14 ׃1 וְאַֽל־תַּעֲמֹד֙ עַל־הַפֶּ֔רֶק לְהַכְרִ֖ית אֶת־פְּלִיטָ֑יו וְאַל־תַּסְגֵּ֥ר שְׂרִידָ֖יו בְּי֥וֹם צָרָֽה׃ Obadiah Oba 1:14 "Do not stand at the fork of the road To cut down their fugitives; And do not imprison their survivors In the day of their distress. As you have done, it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:16 ============ Oba 1:16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.(KJV) Obadiah 1:16 For as yee haue drunke vpon mine holy Mountaine, so shall all the heathen drinke continually: yea, they shall drinke and swallow vp, and they shalbe as though they had not bene.(Geneva) Abdias 1:16 Car, comme vous avez bu sur ma montagne sainte, Ainsi toutes les nations boiront sans cesse; Elles boiront, elles avaleront, Et elles seront comme si elles n'avaient jamais été.(FR) 16 ׃1 כִּ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר שְׁתִיתֶם֙ עַל־הַ֣ר קָדְשִׁ֔י יִשְׁתּ֥וּ כָֽל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם תָּמִ֑יד וְשָׁת֣וּ וְלָע֔וּ וְהָי֖וּ כְּל֥וֹא הָֽיוּ׃ Obadiah Oba 1:16 "Because just as you drank on My holy mountain, All the nations will drink continually. They will drink and swallow And become as if they had never existed. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:17 ============ Oba 1:17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.(KJV) Obadiah 1:17 But vpon mount Zion shalbe deliuerance, and it shalbe holy, and the house of Iaakob shall possesse their possessions,(Geneva) Abdias 1:17 Mais le salut sera sur la montagne de Sion, elle sera sainte, Et la maison de Jacob reprendra ses possessions.(FR) 17 ׃1 וּבְהַ֥ר צִיּ֛וֹן תִּהְיֶ֥ה פְלֵיטָ֖ה וְהָ֣יָה קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְיָֽרְשׁוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב אֵ֖ת מוֹרָֽשֵׁיהֶם׃ Obadiah Oba 1:17 "But on Mount Zion there will be those who escape, And it will be holy. And the house of Jacob will possess their possessions. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:18 ============ Oba 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.(KJV) Obadiah 1:18 And the house of Iaakob shalbe a fire, & the house of Ioseph a flame, and the house of Esau as stubble, and they shall kindle in them and deuoure them: and there shall bee no remnant of the house of Esau for the Lord hath spoken it.(Geneva) Abdias 1:18 La maison de Jacob sera un feu, et la maison de Joseph une flamme; Mais la maison d'Esaü sera du chaume, Qu'elles allumeront et consumeront; Et il ne restera rien de la maison d'Esaü, Car l'Eternel a parlé.(FR) 18 ׃1 וְהָיָה֩ בֵית־יַעֲקֹ֨ב אֵ֜שׁ וּבֵ֧ית יוֹסֵ֣ף לֶהָבָ֗ה וּבֵ֤ית עֵשָׂו֙ לְקַ֔שׁ וְדָלְק֥וּ בָהֶ֖ם וַאֲכָל֑וּם וְלֹֽא־יִֽהְיֶ֤ה שָׂרִיד֙ לְבֵ֣ית עֵשָׂ֔ו כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃ Obadiah Oba 1:18 "Then the house of Jacob will be a fire And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau will be as stubble. And they will set them on fire and consume them, So that there will be no survivor of the house of Esau," For the Lord has spoken. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:19 ============ Oba 1:19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.(KJV) Obadiah 1:19 And they shall possesse the South side of the mount of Esau, and the plaine of the Philistims: and they shall possesse the fieldes of Ephraim, and the fieldes of Samaria, and Beniamin shall haue Gilead.(Geneva) Abdias 1:19 Ceux du midi posséderont la montagne d'Esaü, Et ceux de la plaine le pays des Philistins; Ils posséderont le territoire d'Ephraïm et celui de Samarie; Et Benjamin possédera Galaad.(FR) 19 ׃1 וְיָרְשׁ֨וּ הַנֶּ֜גֶב אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֗ו וְהַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְיָרְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־שְׂדֵ֣ה אֶפְרַ֔יִם וְאֵ֖ת שְׂדֵ֣ה שֹׁמְר֑וֹן וּבִנְיָמִ֖ן אֶת־הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ Obadiah Oba 1:19 Then those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, And those of the Shephelah the Philistine plain; Also, possess the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, And Benjamin will possess Gilead. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:20 ============ Oba 1:20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.(KJV) Obadiah 1:20 And the captiuitie of this host of the children of Israel, which were among the Canaanites, shall possesse vnto Zarephath, and the captiuitie of Ierusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possesse the cities of the South.(Geneva) Abdias 1:20 Les captifs de cette armée des enfants d'Israël Posséderont le pays occupé par les Cananéens jusqu'à Sarepta, Et les captifs de Jérusalem qui sont à Sepharad Posséderont les villes du midi.(FR) 20 ׃1 וְגָלֻ֣ת הַֽחֵל־הַ֠זֶּה לִבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֲשֶֽׁר־כְּנַעֲנִים֙ עַד־צָ֣רְפַ֔ת וְגָלֻ֥ת יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּסְפָרַ֑ד יִֽרְשׁ֕וּ אֵ֖ת עָרֵ֥י הַנֶּֽגֶב׃ Obadiah Oba 1:20 And the exiles of this host of the sons of Israel, Who are among the Canaanites as far as Zarephath, And the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Will possess the cities of the Negev. (nasb) ======= Obadiah 1:21 ============ Oba 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.(kjv) Obadiah 1:21 And they that shal saue, shal come vp to mount Zion to iudge the mount of Esau, and the kingdome shalbe the Lords.(Geneva) Abdias 1:21 Des libérateurs monteront sur la montagne de Sion, Pour juger la montagne d'Esaü; Et à l'Eternel appartiendra le règne.(FR) 21 ׃1 וְעָל֤וּ מֽוֹשִׁעִים֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן לִשְׁפֹּ֖ט אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֑ו וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃ Obadiah Oba 1:21 The deliverers will ascend Mount Zion To judge the mountain of Esau, And the kingdom will be the Lord's.
