Today's Date: ======= Genesis 32:1 ============ Gen 32:1 Now as Jacob went on his way, the angels of God met him.(nasb) Gen 32:1 καὶ Ιακωβ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ὁδόν καὶ ἀναβλέψας εἶδεν παρεμβολὴν θεοῦ παρεμβεβληκυῖαν καὶ συνήντησαν αὐτῷ οἱ ἄγγελοι τοῦ θεοῦ (lxx) Gen 32:1 Jacob quoque abiit itinere quo cœperat: fueruntque ei obviam angeli Dei.(vulgate) Gen 32:1 Jakob aber zog seinen Weg; und es begegneten ihm die Engel Gottes.(dhs) Gen 32:1 So Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:2 ============ Gen 32:2 Jacob said when he saw them, "This is God's camp." So he named that place Mahanaim.(nasb) Gen 32:2 εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἡνίκα εἶδεν αὐτούς Παρεμβολὴ θεοῦ αὕτη καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Παρεμβολαί (lxx) Gen 32:2 Quos cum vidisset, ait: Castra Dei sunt hæc: et appellavit nomen loci illius Mahanaim, id est, Castra.(vulgate) Gen 32:2 Und da er sie sah, sprach er: Es sind Gottes Heere; und hieß die Stätte Mahanaim.(dhs) Gen 32:2 When Jacob saw them, he said, "This is God's camp." And he called the name of that place Mahanaim.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:3 ============ Gen 32:3 Then Jacob sent messengers before him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.(nasb) Gen 32:3 ἀπέστειλεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἀγγέλους ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ πρὸς Ησαυ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ εἰς γῆν Σηιρ εἰς χώραν Εδωμ (lxx) Gen 32:3 Misit autem et nuntios ante se ad Esau fratrem suum in terram Seir, in regionem Edom:(vulgate) Gen 32:3 Jakob aber schickte Boten vor sich her zu seinem Bruder Esau ins Land Seir, in die Gegend Edoms,(dhs) Gen 32:3 Then Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:4 ============ Gen 32:4 He also commanded them saying, "Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: 'Thus says your servant Jacob, "I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now;(nasb) Gen 32:4 καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς λέγων οὕτως ἐρεῖτε τῷ κυρίῳ μου Ησαυ οὕτως λέγει ὁ παῖς σου Ιακωβ μετὰ Λαβαν παρῴκησα καὶ ἐχρόνισα ἕως τοῦ νῦν (lxx) Gen 32:4 præcepitque eis, dicens: Sic loquimini domino meo Esau: Hæc dicit frater tuus Jacob: Apud Laban peregrinatus sum, et fui usque in præsentem diem.(vulgate) Gen 32:4 und befahl ihnen und sprach: Also sagt meinem Herrn Esau: Dein Knecht Jakob läßt dir sagen: Ich bin bis daher bei Laban lange außen gewesen(dhs) Gen 32:4 And he commanded them, saying, "Speak thus to my lord Esau, 'Thus your servant Jacob says: "I have dwelt with Laban and stayed there until now.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:5 ============ Gen 32:5 I have oxen and donkeys and flocks and male and female servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight."'"(nasb) Gen 32:5 καὶ ἐγένοντό μοι βόες καὶ ὄνοι καὶ πρόβατα καὶ παῖδες καὶ παιδίσκαι καὶ ἀπέστειλα ἀναγγεῖλαι τῷ κυρίῳ μου Ησαυ ἵνα εὕρῃ ὁ παῖς σου χάριν ἐναντίον σου (lxx) Gen 32:5 Habeo boves, et asinos, et oves, et servos, et ancillas: mittoque nunc legationem ad dominum meum, ut inveniam gratiam in conspectu tuo.(vulgate) Gen 32:5 und habe Rinder und Esel, Schafe, Knechte und Mägde; und habe ausgesandt, dir, meinem Herrn, anzusagen, daß ich Gnade vor deinen Augen fände.(dhs) Gen 32:5 I have oxen, donkeys, flocks, and male and female servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight." ' "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:6 ============ Gen 32:6 The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau, and furthermore he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him."(nasb) Gen 32:6 καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν οἱ ἄγγελοι πρὸς Ιακωβ λέγοντες ἤλθομεν πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφόν σου Ησαυ καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτὸς ἔρχεται εἰς συνάντησίν σοι καὶ τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 32:6 Reversique sunt nuntii ad Jacob, dicentes: Venimus ad Esau fratrem tuum, et ecce properat tibi in occursum cum quadringentis viris.(vulgate) Gen 32:6 Die Boten kamen wieder zu Jakob und sprachen: Wir kamen zu deinem Bruder Esau; und er zieht dir auch entgegen mit vierhundert Mann.(dhs) Gen 32:6 Then the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:7 ============ Gen 32:7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks and the herds and the camels, into two companies;(nasb) Gen 32:7 ἐφοβήθη δὲ Ιακωβ σφόδρα καὶ ἠπορεῖτο καὶ διεῖλεν τὸν λαὸν τὸν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς βόας καὶ τὰ πρόβατα εἰς δύο παρεμβολάς (lxx) Gen 32:7 Timuit Jacob valde: et perterritus divisit populum qui secum erat, greges quoque et oves, et boves, et camelos, in duas turmas,(vulgate) Gen 32:7 Da fürchtete sich Jakob sehr, und ihm ward bange; und teilte das Volk, das bei ihm war, und die Schafe und die Rinder und die Kamele in zwei Heere(dhs) Gen 32:7 So Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks and herds and camels, into two companies.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:8 ============ Gen 32:8 for he said, "If Esau comes to the one company and attacks it, then the company which is left will escape."(nasb) Gen 32:8 καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ ἐὰν ἔλθῃ Ησαυ εἰς παρεμβολὴν μίαν καὶ ἐκκόψῃ αὐτήν ἔσται ἡ παρεμβολὴ ἡ δευτέρα εἰς τὸ σῴζεσθαι (lxx) Gen 32:8 dicens: Si venerit Esau ad unam turmam, et percusserit eam, alia turma, quæ relicta est, salvabitur.(vulgate) Gen 32:8 und sprach: So Esau kommt auf das eine Heer und schlägt es, so wird das übrige entrinnen.(dhs) Gen 32:8 And he said, "If Esau comes to the one company and attacks it, then the other company which is left will escape."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:9 ============ Gen 32:9 Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O Lord, who said to me, 'Return to your country and to your relatives, and I will prosper you,'(nasb) Gen 32:9 εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου Αβρααμ καὶ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου Ισαακ κύριε ὁ εἴπας μοι ἀπότρεχε εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς γενέσεώς σου καὶ εὖ σε ποιήσω (lxx) Gen 32:9 Dixitque Jacob: Deus patris mei Abraham, et Deus patris mei Isaac: Domine qui dixisti mihi: Revertere in terram tuam, et in locum nativitatis tuæ, et benefaciam tibi:(vulgate) Gen 32:9 Weiter sprach Jakob: Gott meines Vaters Abraham und Gott meines Vaters Isaak, HERR, der du zu mir gesagt hast: Zieh wieder in dein Land und zu deiner Freundschaft, ich will dir wohltun!(dhs) Gen 32:9 Then Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who said to me, 'Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you':(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:10 ============ Gen 32:10 I am unworthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant; for with my staff only I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two companies.(nasb) Gen 32:10 ἱκανοῦταί μοι ἀπὸ πάσης δικαιοσύνης καὶ ἀπὸ πάσης ἀληθείας ἧς ἐποίησας τῷ παιδί σου ἐν γὰρ τῇ ῥάβδῳ μου διέβην τὸν Ιορδάνην τοῦτον νῦν δὲ γέγονα εἰς δύο παρεμβολάς (lxx) Gen 32:10 minor sum cunctis miserationibus tuis, et veritate tua quam explevisti servo tuo. In baculo meo transivi Jordanem istum: et nunc cum duabus turmis regredior.(vulgate) Gen 32:10 ich bin zu gering aller Barmherzigkeit und aller Treue, die du an deinem Knechte getan hast; denn ich hatte nicht mehr als diesen Stab, da ich über den Jordan ging, und nun bin ich zwei Heere geworden.(dhs) Gen 32:10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant; for I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:11 ============ Gen 32:11 Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.(nasb) Gen 32:11 ἐξελοῦ με ἐκ χειρὸς τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ μου Ησαυ ὅτι φοβοῦμαι ἐγὼ αὐτόν μήποτε ἐλθὼν πατάξῃ με καὶ μητέρα ἐπὶ τέκνοις (lxx) Gen 32:11 Erue me de manu fratris mei Esau, quia valde eum timeo: ne forte veniens percutiat matrem cum filiis.(vulgate) Gen 32:11 Errette mich von der Hand meines Bruders, von der Hand Esaus; denn ich fürchte mich vor ihm, daß er nicht komme und schlage mich, die Mütter samt den Kindern.(dhs) Gen 32:11 Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and the mother with the children.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:12 ============ Gen 32:12 For You said, 'I will surely prosper you and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.'"(nasb) Gen 32:12 σὺ δὲ εἶπας καλῶς εὖ σε ποιήσω καὶ θήσω τὸ σπέρμα σου ὡς τὴν ἄμμον τῆς θαλάσσης ἣ οὐκ ἀριθμηθήσεται ἀπὸ τοῦ πλήθους (lxx) Gen 32:12 Tu locutus es quod benefaceres mihi, et dilatares semen meum sicut arenam maris, quæ præ multitudine numerari non potest.(vulgate) Gen 32:12 Du hast gesagt ich will dir wohltun und deinen Samen machen wie den Sand am Meer, den man nicht zählen kann vor der Menge.(dhs) Gen 32:12 For You said, 'I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.' "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:13 ============ Gen 32:13 So he spent the night there. Then he selected from what he had with him a present for his brother Esau:(nasb) Gen 32:13 καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐκεῖ τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην καὶ ἔλαβεν ὧν ἔφερεν δῶρα καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν Ησαυ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 32:13 Cumque dormisset ibi nocte illa, separavit de his quæ habebat, munera Esau fratri suo,(vulgate) Gen 32:13 Und er blieb die Nacht da und nahm von dem, das er vor Handen hatte, ein Geschenk für seinen Bruder Esau:(dhs) Gen 32:13 So he lodged there that same night, and took what came to his hand as a present for Esau his brother:(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:14 ============ Gen 32:14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,(nasb) Gen 32:14 αἶγας διακοσίας τράγους εἴκοσι πρόβατα διακόσια κριοὺς εἴκοσι (lxx) Gen 32:14 capras ducentas, hircos viginti, oves ducentas, et arietes viginti,(vulgate) Gen 32:14 zweihundert Ziegen, zwanzig Böcke, zweihundert Schafe, zwanzig Widder(dhs) Gen 32:14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:15 ============ Gen 32:15 thirty milking camels and their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten male donkeys.(nasb) Gen 32:15 καμήλους θηλαζούσας καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτῶν τριάκοντα βόας τεσσαράκοντα ταύρους δέκα ὄνους εἴκοσι καὶ πώλους δέκα (lxx) Gen 32:15 camelos fœtas cum pullis suis triginta, vaccas quadraginta, et tauros viginti, asinas viginti et pullos earum decem.(vulgate) Gen 32:15 und dreißig säugende Kamele mit ihren Füllen, vierzig Kühe und zehn Farren, zwanzig Eselinnen mit zehn Füllen,(dhs) Gen 32:15 thirty milk camels with their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten foals.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:16 ============ Gen 32:16 He delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and said to his servants, "Pass on before me, and put a space between droves."(nasb) Gen 32:16 καὶ ἔδωκεν διὰ χειρὸς τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ ποίμνιον κατὰ μόνας εἶπεν δὲ τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ προπορεύεσθε ἔμπροσθέν μου καὶ διάστημα ποιεῖτε ἀνὰ μέσον ποίμνης καὶ ποίμνης (lxx) Gen 32:16 Et misit per manus servorum suorum singulos seorsum greges, dixitque pueris suis: Antecedite me, et sit spatium inter gregem et gregem.(vulgate) Gen 32:16 und tat sie unter die Hand seiner Knechte, je eine Herde besonders, und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet vor mir hin und lasset Raum zwischen einer Herde nach der andern;(dhs) Gen 32:16 Then he delivered them to the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and said to his servants, "Pass over before me, and put some distance between successive droves."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:17 ============ Gen 32:17 He commanded the one in front, saying, "When my brother Esau meets you and asks you, saying, 'To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and to whom do these animals in front of you belong?'(nasb) Gen 32:17 καὶ ἐνετείλατο τῷ πρώτῳ λέγων ἐάν σοι συναντήσῃ Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἐρωτᾷ σε λέγων τίνος εἶ καὶ ποῦ πορεύῃ καὶ τίνος ταῦτα τὰ προπορευόμενά σου (lxx) Gen 32:17 Et præcepit priori, dicens: Si obvium habueris fratrem meum Esau, et interrogaverit te: Cujus es? aut, Quo vadis? aut, Cujus sunt ista quæ sequeris?(vulgate) Gen 32:17 und gebot dem ersten und sprach: Wenn dir mein Bruder Esau begegnet und dich fragt: Wem gehörst du an, und wo willst du hin, und wes ist's, was du vor dir treibst?(dhs) Gen 32:17 And he commanded the first one, saying, "When Esau my brother meets you and asks you, saying, 'To whom do you belong, and where are you going? Whose are these in front of you?'(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:18 ============ Gen 32:18 then you shall say, 'These belong to your servant Jacob; it is a present sent to my lord Esau. For he said, "I will appease him with the present that goes before me. Then afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will accept me."(nasb) Gen 32:20 καὶ ἐρεῖτε ἰδοὺ ὁ παῖς σου Ιακωβ παραγίνεται ὀπίσω ἡμῶν εἶπεν γάρ ἐξιλάσομαι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς δώροις τοῖς προπορευομένοις αὐτοῦ καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο ὄψομαι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἴσως γὰρ προσδέξεται τὸ πρόσωπόν μου (lxx) Gen 32:20 Et addetis: Ipse quoque servus tuus Jacob iter nostrum insequitur. Dixit enim: Placabo illum muneribus quæ præcedunt, et postea videbo illum: forsitan propitiabitur mihi.(vulgate) Gen 32:20 und sagt ja auch: Siehe, dein Knecht Jakob ist hinter uns. Denn er gedachte: Ich will ihn versöhnen mit dem Geschenk, das vor mir her geht; darnach will ich ihn sehen, vielleicht wird er mich annehmen.(dhs) Gen 32:20 and also say, 'Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us.' " For he said, "I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will accept me."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:21 ============ Gen 32:21 So the present passed on before him, while he himself spent that night in the camp.(nasb) Gen 32:21 καὶ παρεπορεύοντο τὰ δῶρα κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκοιμήθη τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ (lxx) Gen 32:21 Præcesserunt itaque munera ante eum, ipse vero mansit nocte illa in castris.~(vulgate) Gen 32:21 Also ging das Geschenk vor ihm her, aber er blieb dieselbe Nacht beim Heer(dhs) Gen 32:21 So the present went on over before him, but he himself lodged that night in the camp.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:22 ============ Gen 32:22 Now he arose that same night and took his two wives and his two maids and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.(nasb) Gen 32:22 ἀναστὰς δὲ τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην ἔλαβεν τὰς δύο γυναῖκας καὶ τὰς δύο παιδίσκας καὶ τὰ ἕνδεκα παιδία αὐτοῦ καὶ διέβη τὴν διάβασιν τοῦ Ιαβοκ (lxx) Gen 32:22 Cumque mature surrexisset, tulit duas uxores suas, et totidem famulas cum undecim filiis, et transivit vadum Jaboc.(vulgate) Gen 32:22 und stand auf in der Nacht und nahm seine zwei Weiber und die zwei Mägde und seine elf Kinder und zog an die Furt des Jabbok,(dhs) Gen 32:22 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:23 ============ Gen 32:23 He took them and sent them across the stream. Da rang ein Mann mit ihm, bis die Morgenröte anbrach.(dhs) Gen 32:24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:25 ============ Gen 32:25 When he saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of his thigh; so the socket of Jacob's thigh was dislocated while he wrestled with him.(nasb) Gen 32:25 εἶδεν δὲ ὅτι οὐ δύναται πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ἥψατο τοῦ πλάτους τοῦ μηροῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνάρκησεν τὸ πλάτος τοῦ μηροῦ Ιακωβ ἐν τῷ παλαίειν αὐτὸν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 32:25 Qui cum videret quod eum superare non posset, tetigit nervum femoris ejus, et statim emarcuit.(vulgate) Gen 32:25 Und da er sah, daß er ihn nicht übermochte, rührte er das Gelenk seiner Hüfte an; und das Gelenk der Hüfte Jakobs ward über dem Ringen mit ihm verrenkt.(dhs) Gen 32:25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob's hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 32:26 ============ Gen 32:26 Then he said, "Let me go, for the dawn is breaking."
