Why then should I look upon a young woman?(nkjv) ======= Job 31:2 ============ Job 31:2 "And what is the portion of God from above Or the heritage of the Almighty from on high?(nasb) Job 31:2 καὶ τί ἐμέρισεν ὁ θεὸς ἀπάνωθεν καὶ κληρονομία ἱκανοῦ ἐξ ὑψίστων (lxx) Job 31:2 Quam enim partem haberet in me Deus desuper, et hæreditatem Omnipotens de excelsis?(vulgate) Job 31:2 Was gäbe mir Gott sonst als Teil von oben und was für ein Erbe der Allmächtige in der Höhe?(dhs) Job 31:2 For what is the allotment of God from above, And the inheritance of the Almighty from on high?(nkjv) ======= Job 31:3 ============ Job 31:3 "Is it not calamity to the unjust And disaster to those who work iniquity?(nasb) Job 31:3 οὐχὶ ἀπώλεια τῷ ἀδίκῳ καὶ ἀπαλλοτρίωσις τοῖς ποιοῦσιν ἀνομίαν (lxx) Job 31:3 Numquid non perditio est iniquo, et alienatio operantibus injustitiam?(vulgate) Job 31:3 Wird nicht der Ungerechte Unglück haben und ein Übeltäter verstoßen werden?(dhs) Job 31:3 Is it not destruction for the wicked, And disaster for the workers of iniquity?(nkjv) ======= Job 31:4 ============ Job 31:4 "Does He not see my ways And number all my steps?(nasb) Job 31:4 οὐχὶ αὐτὸς ὄψεται ὁδόν μου καὶ πάντα τὰ διαβήματά μου ἐξαριθμήσεται (lxx) Job 31:4 Nonne ipse considerat vias meas, et cunctos gressus meos dinumerat?(vulgate) Job 31:4 Sieht er nicht meine Wege und zählt alle meine Gänge?(dhs) Job 31:4 Does He not see my ways, And count all my steps?(nkjv) ======= Job 31:5 ============ Job 31:5 "If I have walked with falsehood, And my foot has hastened after deceit,(nasb) Job 31:5 εἰ δὲ ἤμην πεπορευμένος μετὰ γελοιαστῶν εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐσπούδασεν ὁ πούς μου εἰς δόλον (lxx) Job 31:5 Si ambulavi in vanitate, et festinavit in dolo pes meus,(vulgate) Job 31:5 Habe ich gewandelt in Eitelkeit, oder hat mein Fuß geeilt zum Betrug?(dhs) Job 31:5 "If I have walked with falsehood, Or if my foot has hastened to deceit,(nkjv) ======= Job 31:6 ============ Job 31:6 Let Him weigh me with accurate scales, And let God know my integrity.(nasb) Job 31:6 ἱσταίη με ἄρα ἐν ζυγῷ δικαίῳ οἶδεν δὲ ὁ κύριος τὴν ἀκακίαν μου (lxx) Job 31:6 appendat me in statera justa, et sciat Deus simplicitatem meam.(vulgate) Job 31:6 So wäge man mich auf der rechten Waage, so wird Gott erfahren meine Unschuld.(dhs) Job 31:6 Let me be weighed on honest scales, That God may know my integrity.(nkjv) ======= Job 31:7 ============ Job 31:7 "If my step has turned from the way, Or my heart followed my eyes, Or if any spot has stuck to my hands,(nasb) Job 31:7 εἰ ἐξέκλινεν ὁ πούς μου ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ εἰ δὲ καὶ τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ ἐπηκολούθησεν ἡ καρδία μου εἰ δὲ καὶ ταῖς χερσίν μου ἡψάμην δώρων (lxx) Job 31:7 Si declinavit gressus meus de via, et si secutum est oculos meos cor meum, et si manibus meis adhæsit macula,(vulgate) Job 31:7 Ist mein Gang gewichen aus dem Wege und mein Herz meinen Augen nachgefolgt und klebt ein Flecken an meinen Händen,(dhs) Job 31:7 If my step has turned from the way, Or my heart walked after my eyes, Or if any spot adheres to my hands,(nkjv) ======= Job 31:8 ============ Job 31:8 Let me sow and another eat, And let my crops be uprooted.(nasb) Job 31:8 σπείραιμι ἄρα καὶ ἄλλοι φάγοισαν ἄρριζος δὲ γενοίμην ἐπὶ γῆς (lxx) Job 31:8 seram, et alius comedat, et progenies mea eradicetur.(vulgate) Job 31:8 so müsse ich säen, und ein andrer esse es; und mein Geschlecht müsse ausgewurzelt werden.(dhs) Job 31:8 Then let me sow, and another eat; Yes, let my harvest be rooted out.(nkjv) ======= Job 31:9 ============ Job 31:9 "If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or I have lurked at my neighbor's doorway,(nasb) Job 31:9 εἰ ἐξηκολούθησεν ἡ καρδία μου γυναικὶ ἀνδρὸς ἑτέρου εἰ καὶ ἐγκάθετος ἐγενόμην ἐπὶ θύραις αὐτῆς (lxx) Job 31:9 Si deceptum est cor meum super muliere, et si ad ostium amici mei insidiatus sum,(vulgate) Job 31:9 Hat sich mein Herz lassen reizen zum Weibe und habe ich an meines Nächsten Tür gelauert,(dhs) Job 31:9 "If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or if I have lurked at my neighbor's door,(nkjv) ======= Job 31:10 ============ Job 31:10 May my wife grind for another, And let others kneel down over her.(nasb) Job 31:10 ἀρέσαι ἄρα καὶ ἡ γυνή μου ἑτέρῳ τὰ δὲ νήπιά μου ταπεινωθείη (lxx) Job 31:10 scortum alterius sit uxor mea, et super illam incurventur alii.(vulgate) Job 31:10 so müsse mein Weib von einem andern geschändet werden, und andere müssen bei ihr liegen;(dhs) Job 31:10 Then let my wife grind for another, And let others bow down over her.(nkjv) ======= Job 31:11 ============ Job 31:11 "For that would be a lustful crime; And when He calls me to account, what will I answer Him?(nasb) Job 31:14 τί γὰρ ποιήσω ἐὰν ἔτασίν μου ποιήσηται ὁ κύριος ἐὰν δὲ καὶ ἐπισκοπήν τίνα ἀπόκρισιν ποιήσομαι (lxx) Job 31:14 quid enim faciam cum surrexerit ad judicandum Deus? et cum quæsierit, quid respondebo illi?(vulgate) Job 31:14 Was wollte ich tun, wenn Gott sich aufmachte, und was würde ich antworten, wenn er heimsuchte?(dhs) Job 31:14 What then shall I do when God rises up? ἀδύνατοι δὲ χρείαν ἥν ποτ᾽ εἶχον οὐκ ἀπέτυχον χήρας δὲ τὸν ὀφθαλμὸν οὐκ ἐξέτηξα (lxx) Job 31:16 Si negavi quod volebant pauperibus, et oculos viduæ expectare feci;(vulgate) Job 31:16 Habe ich den Dürftigen ihr Begehren versagt und die Augen der Witwe lassen verschmachten?(dhs) Job 31:16 "If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,(nkjv) ======= Job 31:17 ============ Job 31:17 Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the orphan has not shared it(nasb) Job 31:17 εἰ δὲ καὶ τὸν ψωμόν μου ἔφαγον μόνος καὶ οὐχὶ ὀρφανῷ μετέδωκα (lxx) Job 31:17 si comedi buccellam meam solus, et non comedit pupillus ex ea(vulgate) Job 31:17 Hab ich meinen Bissen allein gegessen, und hat nicht der Waise auch davon gegessen?(dhs) Job 31:17 Or eaten my morsel by myself, So that the fatherless could not eat of it(nkjv) ======= Job 31:18 ============ Job 31:18 ( But from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, And from infancy I guided her),(nasb) Job 31:18 ὅτι ἐκ νεότητός μου ἐξέτρεφον ὡς πατὴρ καὶ ἐκ γαστρὸς μητρός μου ὡδήγησα (lxx) Job 31:18 (quia ab infantia mea crevit mecum miseratio, et de utero matris meæ egressa est mecum);(vulgate) Job 31:18 Denn ich habe mich von Jugend auf gehalten wie ein Vater, und von meiner Mutter Leib an habe ich gerne getröstet.(dhs) Job 31:18 (But from my youth I reared him as a father, And from my mother's womb I guided the widow);(nkjv) ======= Job 31:19 ============ Job 31:19 If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering,(nasb) Job 31:19 εἰ δὲ καὶ ὑπερεῖδον γυμνὸν ἀπολλύμενον καὶ οὐκ ἠμφίασα (lxx) Job 31:19 si despexi pereuntem, eo quod non habuerit indumentum, et absque operimento pauperem;(vulgate) Job 31:19 Hab ich jemand sehen umkommen, daß er kein Kleid hatte, und den thanked me, And if he has not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep,(nasb) Job 31:20 ἀδύνατοι δὲ εἰ μὴ εὐλόγησάν με ἀπὸ δὲ κουρᾶς ἀμνῶν μου ἐθερμάνθησαν οἱ ὦμοι αὐτῶν (lxx) Job 31:20 si non benedixerunt mihi latera ejus, et de velleribus ovium mearum calefactus est;(vulgate) Job 31:20 Haben mich nicht gesegnet seine Lenden, da er von den Fellen meiner Lämmer erwärmt ward?(dhs) Job 31:20 If his heart has not blessed me, And if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;(nkjv) ======= Job 31:21 ============ Job 31:21 If I have lifted up my hand against the orphan, Because I saw I had support in the gate,(nasb) Job 31:21 εἰ ἐπῆρα ὀρφανῷ χεῖρα πεποιθὼς ὅτι πολλή μοι βοήθεια περίεστιν (lxx) Job 31:21 si levavi super pupillum manum meam, etiam cum viderem me in porta superiorem:(vulgate) Job 31:21 Hab ich meine Hand an den Waisen gelegt, weil ich sah, daß ich im Tor Helfer hatte?(dhs) Job 31:21 If I have raised my hand against the fatherless, When I saw I had help in the gate;(nkjv) ======= Job 31:22 ============ Job 31:22 Let my shoulder fall from the socket, And my arm be broken off at the elbow.(nasb) Job 31:22 ἀποσταίη ἄρα ὁ ὦμός μου ἀπὸ τῆς κλειδός ὁ δὲ βραχίων μου ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀγκῶνός μου συντριβείη (lxx) Job 31:22 humerus meus a junctura sua cadat, et brachium meum cum suis ossibus confringatur.(vulgate) Job 31:22 So falle meine Schulter von der Achsel, und mein Arm breche von der Röhre.(dhs) Job 31:22 Then let my arm fall from my shoulder, Let my arm be torn from the socket.(nkjv) ======= Job 31:23 ============ Job 31:23 "For calamity from God is a terror to me, And because of His majesty I can do nothing.(nasb) Job 31:23 φόβος γὰρ κυρίου συνέσχεν με καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ λήμματος αὐτοῦ οὐχ ὑποίσω (lxx) Job 31:23 Semper enim quasi tumentes super me fluctus timui Deum, et pondus ejus ferre non potui.(vulgate) Job 31:23 Denn ich fürchte Gottes Strafe über mich und könnte seine Last nicht ertragen.(dhs) Job 31:23 For destruction from God is a ἔταξα χρυσίον ἰσχύν μου εἰ δὲ καὶ λίθῳ πολυτελεῖ ἐπεποίθησα (lxx) Job 31:24 Si putavi aurum robur meum, et obrizo dixi: Fiducia mea;(vulgate) Job 31:24 Hab ich das Gold zu meiner Zuversicht gemacht und zu dem Goldklumpen gesagt: "Mein Trost"?(dhs) Job 31:24 "If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold, 'You are my confidence';(nkjv) ======= Job 31:25 ============ Job 31:25 If I have gloated because my wealth was great, And because my hand had secured so much;(nasb) Job 31:25 εἰ δὲ καὶ εὐφράνθην πολλοῦ πλούτου μοι γενομένου εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐπ᾽ ἀναριθμήτοις ἐθέμην χεῖρά μου (lxx) Job 31:25 si lætatus sum super multis divitiis meis, et quia plurima reperit manus mea;(vulgate) Job 31:25 Hab ich mich gefreut, daß ich großes Gut hatte und meine Hand allerlei erworben hatte?(dhs) Job 31:25 If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gained much;(nkjv) ======= Job 31:26 ============ Job 31:26 If I have looked at the sun when it shone Or the moon going in splendor,(nasb) Job 31:26 ἦ οὐχ ὁρῶ μὲν ἥλιον τὸν ἐπιφαύσκοντα ἐκλείποντα σελήνην δὲ φθίνουσαν οὐ γὰρ ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς ἐστιν (lxx) Job 31:26 si vidi solem cum fulgeret, et lunam incedentem clare,(vulgate) Job 31:26 Hab ich das Licht angesehen, wenn es hell leuchtete, und den Mond, wenn er voll ging,(dhs) Job 31:26 If I have observed the sun when it shines, Or the moon moving in brightness,(nkjv) ======= Job 31:27 ============ Job 31:27 And my heart became secretly enticed, And my hand threw a kiss from my mouth,(nasb) Job 31:27 καὶ εἰ ἠπατήθη λάθρᾳ ἡ καρδία μου εἰ δὲ καὶ χεῖρά μου ἐπιθεὶς ἐπὶ στόματί μου ἐφίλησα (lxx) Job 31:27 et lætatum est in abscondito cor meum, et osculatus sum manum meam ore meo:(vulgate) Job 31:27 daß ich mein Herz heimlich beredet hätte, ihnen Küsse zuzuwerfen mit judgment, For I would have denied God above.(nasb) Job 31:28 καὶ τοῦτό μοι ἄρα ἀνομία ἡ μεγίστη λογισθείη ὅτι ἐψευσάμην ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ ὑψίστου (lxx) Job 31:28 quæ est iniquitas maxima, et negatio mich gefreut, wenn's meinem Feind übel ging, und habe mich überhoben, darum daß ihn Unglück betreten hatte?(dhs) Job 31:29 "If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted myself up when evil found him(nkjv) ======= Job 31:30 ============ Job 31:30 "No, I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking for his life in a curse.(nasb) Job 31:30 ἀκούσαι ἄρα τὸ οὖς μου τὴν κατάραν μου θρυληθείην δὲ ἄρα ὑπὸ λαοῦ μου κακούμενος (lxx) Job 31:30 non enim dedi ad peccandum guttur meum, ut expeterem maledicens animam ejus.(vulgate) Job 31:30 Denn ich ließ meinen Mund nicht sündigen, daß Menschenweise zugedeckt, daß ich heimlich meine Missetat verbarg?(dhs) Job 31:33 If I have covered my transgressions as Adam, By hiding my iniquity in my bosom,(nkjv) ======= Job 31:34 ============ Job 31:34 Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, And kept silent and did not go out of doors?(nasb) Job 31:34 οὐ γὰρ διετράπην πολυοχλίαν πλήθους τοῦ μὴ ἐξαγορεῦσαι ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν εἰ δὲ καὶ εἴασα ἀδύνατον ἐξελθεῖν θύραν μου κόλπῳ κενῷ (lxx) Job 31:34 si expavi ad multitudinem nimiam, et despectio propinquorum terruit me: et non magis tacui, nec egressus sum ostium.(vulgate) Job 31:34 Habe ich mir grauen lassen vor der großen Menge, und hat die Verachtung der Freundschaften mich abgeschreckt, daß ich stille blieb und nicht zur Tür ausging?(dhs) Job 31:34 Because I feared the great multitude, And dreaded the contempt of families, So that I kept silence And did not go out of the door--(nkjv) ======= Job 31:35 ============ Job 31:35 "Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature; Let the Almighty answer me! And the indictment which my adversary has written,(nasb) Job 31:35 τίς δῴη ἀκούοντά μου χεῖρα δὲ κυρίου εἰ μὴ ἐδεδοίκειν συγγραφὴν δέ ἣν εἶχον κατά τινος (lxx) Job 31:35 Quis mihi tribuat auditorem, ut desiderium meum audiat Omnipotens, et librum scribat ipse qui judicat,(vulgate) Job 31:35 O hätte ich einen, der mich anhört!
