Today's Date: ======= John 5:1 ============ Jn 5:1 After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.(nasb) Jn 5:1 μετὰ ταῦτα ἦν ἑορτὴ τῶν ἰουδαίων, καὶ ἀνέβη ἰησοῦς εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:1 Post hæc erat dies festus Judæorum, et ascendit Jesus Jerosolymam.(vulgate) Jn 5:1 Darnach war ein Fest der Juden, und Jesus zog hinauf gen Jerusalem.(dhs) Jn 5:1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.(nkjv) ======= John 5:2 ============ Jn 5:2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes.(nasb) Jn 5:2 ἔστιν δὲ ἐν τοῖς ἱεροσολύμοις ἐπὶ τῇ προβατικῇ κολυμβήθρα ἡ ἐπιλεγομένη ἑβραϊστὶ βηθζαθά, πέντε στοὰς ἔχουσα.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:2 Est autem Jerosolymis probatica piscina, quæ cognominatur hebraice Bethsaida, quinque porticus habens.(vulgate) Jn 5:2 Es ist aber zu Jerusalem bei dem Schaftor ein Teich, der heißt auf hebräisch Bethesda und hat fünf Hallen,(dhs) Jn 5:2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.(nkjv) ======= John 5:3 ============ Jn 5:3 In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered, [waiting for the moving of the waters;(nasb) Jn 5:3 ἐν ταύταις κατέκειτο πλῆθος τῶν ἀσθενούντων, τυφλῶν, χωλῶν, ξηρῶν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:3 In his jacebat multitudo magna languentium, cæcorum, claudorum, aridorum, exspectantium aquæ motum.(vulgate) Jn 5:3 in welchem lagen viele Kranke, Blinde, Lahme, Verdorrte, die warteten, wann sich das Wasser bewegte.(dhs) Jn 5:3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.(nkjv) ======= John 5:4 ============ Jn 5:4 for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted. ](nasb) Jn 5:4(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:4 Angelus autem Domini descendebat secundum tempus in piscinam, et movebatur aqua. Welcher nun zuerst, nachdem das Wasser bewegt war, hineinstieg, der ward gesund, mit welcherlei Seuche er behaftet war.(dhs) Jn 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.(nkjv) ======= John 5:5 ============ Jn 5:5 A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years.(nasb) Jn 5:5 ἦν δέ τις ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖ τριάκοντα [καὶ] ὀκτὼ ἔτη ἔχων ἐν τῇ ἀσθενείᾳ αὐτοῦ·(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:5 Erat autem quidam homo ibi triginta et octo annos habens in infirmitate sua.(vulgate) Jn 5:5 Es war aber ein Mensch daselbst, achtunddreißig Jahre lang krank gelegen.(dhs) Jn 5:5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.(nkjv) ======= John 5:6 ============ Jn 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, "Do you wish to get well?"(nasb) Jn 5:6 τοῦτον ἰδὼν ὁ ἰησοῦς κατακείμενον, καὶ γνοὺς ὅτι πολὺν ἤδη χρόνον ἔχει, λέγει αὐτῶ, θέλεις ὑγιὴς γενέσθαι;(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:6 Hunc autem cum vidisset Jesus jacentem, et cognovisset quia jam multum tempus haberet, dicit ei: Vis sanus fieri?(vulgate) Jn 5:6 Da Jesus ihn sah liegen und vernahm, daß er so lange gelegen hatte, spricht er zu ihm: Willst du gesund werden?(dhs) Jn 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?"(nkjv) ======= John 5:7 ============ Jn 5:7 The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me."(nasb) Jn 5:7 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῶ ὁ ἀσθενῶν, κύριε, ἄνθρωπον οὐκ ἔχω ἵνα ὅταν ταραχθῇ τὸ ὕδωρ βάλῃ με εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν· ἐν ᾧ δὲ ἔρχομαι ἐγὼ ἄλλος πρὸ ἐμοῦ καταβαίνει.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:7 Respondit ei languidus: Domine, hominem non habeo, ut, cum turbata fuerit aqua, mittat me in piscinam: dum venio enim ego, alius ante me descendit.(vulgate) Jn 5:7 Der Kranke antwortete ihm: HERR, ich habe keinen Menschen, wenn das Wasser sich bewegt, der mich in den Teich lasse; und wenn ich komme, so steigt ein anderer vor mir hinein.(dhs) Jn 5:7 The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me."(nkjv) ======= John 5:8 ============ Jn 5:8 Jesus said to him, "Get up, pick up your pallet and walk."(nasb) Jn 5:8 λέγει αὐτῶ ὁ ἰησοῦς, ἔγειρε ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ περιπάτει.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:8 Dicit ei Jesus: Surge, tolle grabatum tuum et ambula.(vulgate) Jn 5:8 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Stehe auf, nimm dein Bett und gehe hin!(dhs) Jn 5:8 Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk."(nkjv) ======= John 5:9 ============ Jn 5:9 Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was the Sabbath on that day.(nasb) Jn 5:9 καὶ εὐθέως ἐγένετο ὑγιὴς ὁ ἄνθρωπος, καὶ ἦρεν τὸν κράβαττον αὐτοῦ καὶ περιεπάτει. ἦν δὲ σάββατον ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:9 Et statim sanus factus est homo ille: et sustulit grabatum suum, et ambulabat. Erat autem sabbatum in die illo.~(vulgate) Jn 5:9 Und alsbald ward der Mensch gesund und nahm sein Bett und ging hin. Es war aber desselben Tages der Sabbat.(dhs) Jn 5:9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.(nkjv) ======= John 5:10 ============ Jn 5:10 So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured, "It is the Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet."(nasb) Jn 5:10 ἔλεγον οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι τῶ τεθεραπευμένῳ, σάββατόν ἐστιν, καὶ οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἆραι τὸν κράβαττόν σου.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:10 Dicebant ergo Judæi illi qui sanatus fuerat: Sabbatum est, non licet tibi tollere grabatum tuum.(vulgate) Jn 5:10 Da sprachen die Juden zu dem, der geheilt worden war: Es ist heute Sabbat; es ziemt dir nicht, das Bett zu tragen.(dhs) Jn 5:10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed."(nkjv) ======= John 5:11 ============ Jn 5:11 But he answered them, "He who made me well was the one who said to me, 'Pick up your pallet and walk.'"(nasb) Jn 5:11 ὁ δὲ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς, ὁ ποιήσας με ὑγιῆ ἐκεῖνός μοι εἶπεν, ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ περιπάτει.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:11 Respondit eis: Qui me sanum fecit, ille mihi dixit: Tolle grabatum tuum et ambula.(vulgate) Jn 5:11 Er antwortete ihnen: Der mich gesund machte, der sprach zu mir: "Nimm dein Bett und gehe hin!"(dhs) Jn 5:11 He answered them, "He who made me well said to me, 'Take up your bed and walk.'"(nkjv) ======= John 5:12 ============ Jn 5:12 They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Pick up your pallet and walk'?"(nasb) Jn 5:12 ἠρώτησαν αὐτόν, τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ εἰπών σοι, ἆρον καὶ περιπάτει;(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:12 Interrogaverunt ergo eum: Quis est ille homo qui dixit tibi: Tolle grabatum tuum et ambula?(vulgate) Jn 5:12 Da fragten sie ihn: Wer ist der Mensch, der zu dir gesagt hat: "Nimm dein Bett und gehe hin!"?(dhs) Jn 5:12 Then they asked him, "Who is the Man who said to you, 'Take up your bed and walk'?"(nkjv) ======= John 5:13 ============ Jn 5:13 But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while there was a crowd in that place.(nasb) Jn 5:13 ὁ δὲ ἰαθεὶς οὐκ ᾔδει τίς ἐστιν, ὁ γὰρ ἰησοῦς ἐξένευσεν ὄχλου ὄντος ἐν τῶ τόπῳ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:13 Is autem qui sanus fuerat effectus, nesciebat quis esset. Jesus enim declinavit a turba constituta in loco.(vulgate) Jn 5:13 Der aber geheilt worden war, wußte nicht, wer es war; denn Jesus war gewichen, da so viel Volks an dem Ort war.(dhs) Jn 5:13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.(nkjv) ======= John 5:14 ============ Jn 5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you."(nasb) Jn 5:14 μετὰ ταῦτα εὑρίσκει αὐτὸν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῶ, ἴδε ὑγιὴς γέγονας· μηκέτι ἁμάρτανε, ἵνα μὴ χεῖρόν σοί τι γένηται.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:14 Postea invenit eum Jesus in templo, et dixit illi: Ecce sanus factus es; jam noli peccare, ne deterius tibi aliquid contingat.(vulgate) Jn 5:14 Darnach fand ihn Jesus im Tempel und sprach zu ihm: Siehe zu, du bist gesund geworden; sündige hinfort nicht mehr, daß dir nicht etwas Ärgeres widerfahre.(dhs) Jn 5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."(nkjv) ======= John 5:15 ============ Jn 5:15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.(nasb) Jn 5:15 ἀπῆλθεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν τοῖς ἰουδαίοις ὅτι ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ ποιήσας αὐτὸν ὑγιῆ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:15 Abiit ille homo, et nuntiavit Judæis quia Jesus esset, qui fecit eum sanum.(vulgate) Jn 5:15 Der Mensch ging hin und verkündete es den Juden, es sei Jesus, der ihn gesund gemacht habe.(dhs) Jn 5:15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.(nkjv) ======= John 5:16 ============ Jn 5:16 For this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.(nasb) Jn 5:16 καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἐδίωκον οἱ ἰουδαῖοι τὸν ἰησοῦν, ὅτι ταῦτα ἐποίει ἐν σαββάτῳ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:16 Propterea persequebantur Judæi Jesum, quia hæc faciebat in sabbato.(vulgate) Jn 5:16 Darum verfolgten die Juden Jesum und suchten ihn zu töten, daß er solches getan hatte am Sabbat.(dhs) Jn 5:16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.(nkjv) ======= John 5:17 ============ Jn 5:17 But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working."(nasb) Jn 5:17 ὁ δὲ [ἰησοῦς] ἀπεκρίνατο αὐτοῖς, ὁ πατήρ μου ἕως ἄρτι ἐργάζεται, κἀγὼ ἐργάζομαι.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:17 Jesus autem respondit eis: Pater meus usque modo operatur, et ego operor.(vulgate) Jn 5:17 Jesus aber antwortete Ihnen: Mein Vater wirkt bisher, und ich wirke auch.(dhs) Jn 5:17 But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working."(nkjv) ======= John 5:18 ============ Jn 5:18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.(nasb) Jn 5:18 διὰ τοῦτο οὗν μᾶλλον ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι ἀποκτεῖναι, ὅτι οὐ μόνον ἔλυεν τὸ σάββατον ἀλλὰ καὶ πατέρα ἴδιον ἔλεγεν τὸν θεόν, ἴσον ἑαυτὸν ποιῶν τῶ θεῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:18 Propterea ergo magis quærebant eum Judæi interficere: quia non solum solvebat sabbatum, sed et patrem suum dicebat Deum, æqualem se faciens Deo.~ Respondit itaque Jesus, et dixit eis:(vulgate) Jn 5:18 Darum trachteten ihm die Juden viel mehr nach, daß sie ihn töteten, daß er nicht allein den Sabbat brach, sondern sagte auch, Gott sei sein Vater, und machte sich selbst Gott gleich.(dhs) Jn 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.(nkjv) ======= John 5:19 ============ Jn 5:19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them," Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.(nasb) Jn 5:19 ἀπεκρίνατο οὗν ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς, ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ δύναται ὁ υἱὸς ποιεῖν ἀφ᾽ ἑαυτοῦ οὐδὲν ἐὰν μή τι βλέπῃ τὸν πατέρα ποιοῦντα· ἃ γὰρ ἂν ἐκεῖνος ποιῇ, ταῦτα καὶ ὁ υἱὸς ὁμοίως ποιεῖ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:19 Amen, amen dico vobis: non potest Filius a se facere quidquam, nisi quod viderit Patrem facientem: quæcumque enim ille fecerit, hæc et Filius similiter facit.(vulgate) Jn 5:19 Da antwortete Jesus und sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Der Sohn kann nichts von sich selber tun, sondern was er sieht den Vater tun; denn was dieser tut, das tut gleicherweise auch der Sohn.(dhs) Jn 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.(nkjv) ======= John 5:20 ============ Jn 5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel.(nasb) Jn 5:20 ὁ γὰρ πατὴρ φιλεῖ τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πάντα δείκνυσιν αὐτῶ ἃ αὐτὸς ποιεῖ, καὶ μείζονα τούτων δείξει αὐτῶ ἔργα, ἵνα ὑμεῖς θαυμάζητε.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:20 Pater enim diligit Filium, et omnia demonstrat ei quæ ipse facit: et majora his demonstrabit ei opera, ut vos miremini.(vulgate) Jn 5:20 Der Vater aber hat den Sohn lieb und zeigt ihm alles, was er tut, und wird ihm noch größere Werke zeigen, daß ihr euch verwundern werdet.(dhs) Jn 5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.(nkjv) ======= John 5:21 ============ Jn 5:21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.(nasb) Jn 5:21 ὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἐγείρει τοὺς νεκροὺς καὶ ζῳοποιεῖ, οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς οὓς θέλει ζῳοποιεῖ.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:21 Sicut enim Pater suscitat mortuos, et vivificat, sic et Filius, quos vult, vivificat.(vulgate) Jn 5:21 Denn wie der Vater die Toten auferweckt und macht sie lebendig, also auch der Sohn macht lebendig, welche er will.(dhs) Jn 5:21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.(nkjv) ======= John 5:22 ============ Jn 5:22 For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son,(nasb) Jn 5:22 οὐδὲ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ κρίνει οὐδένα, ἀλλὰ τὴν κρίσιν πᾶσαν δέδωκεν τῶ υἱῶ,(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:22 Neque enim Pater judicat quemquam: sed omne judicium dedit Filio,(vulgate) Jn 5:22 Denn der Vater richtet niemand; sondern alles Gericht hat er dem Sohn gegeben,(dhs) Jn 5:22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,(nkjv) ======= John 5:23 ============ Jn 5:23 so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.(nasb) Jn 5:23 ἵνα πάντες τιμῶσι τὸν υἱὸν καθὼς τιμῶσι τὸν πατέρα. ὁ μὴ τιμῶν τὸν υἱὸν οὐ τιμᾷ τὸν πατέρα τὸν πέμψαντα αὐτόν.(Nestle-Aland) Jn 5:23 ut omnes honorificent Filium, sicut honorificant Patrem; qui non honorificat Filium, non honorificat Patrem, qui misit illum.(vulgate) Jn 5:23 auf daß sie alle den Sohn ehren, wie sie den Vater ehren. Wer den Sohn nicht ehrt, der ehrt den Vater nicht, der ihn gesandt hat.(dhs) Jn 5:23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father.
