Today's Date: ======= 2 Peter 3:1 ============ 2Pe 3:1 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,(nasb) 2Pe 3:1 ταύτην ἤδη, ἀγαπητοί, δευτέραν ὑμῖν γράφω ἐπιστολήν, ἐν αἷς διεγείρω ὑμῶν ἐν ὑπομνήσει τὴν εἰλικρινῆ διάνοιαν,(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:1 Hanc ecce vobis, carissimi, secundam scribo epistolam, in quibus vestram excito in commonitione sinceram mentem:(vulgate) 2Pe 3:1 Dies ist der zweite Brief, den ich euch schreibe, ihr Lieben, in welchem ich euch erinnere und erwecke euren lautern Sinn,(dhs) 2Pe 3:1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder),(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:2 ============ 2Pe 3:2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.(nasb) 2Pe 3:2 μνησθῆναι τῶν προειρημένων ῥημάτων ὑπὸ τῶν ἁγίων προφητῶν καὶ τῆς τῶν ἀποστόλων ὑμῶν ἐντολῆς τοῦ κυρίου καὶ σωτῆρος·(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:2 ut memores sitis eorum, quæ prædixi, verborum, a sanctis prophetis et apostolorum vestrorum, præceptorum Domini et Salvatoris.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:2 daß ihr gedenket an die Worte, die euch zuvor gesagt sind von den heiligen Propheten, und an unser Gebot, die wir sind Apostel des HERRN und Heilandes.(dhs) 2Pe 3:2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:3 ============ 2Pe 3:3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,(nasb) 2Pe 3:3 τοῦτο πρῶτον γινώσκοντες, ὅτι ἐλεύσονται ἐπ᾽ ἐσχάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν [ἐν] ἐμπαιγμονῇ ἐμπαῖκται κατὰ τὰς ἰδίας ἐπιθυμίας αὐτῶν πορευόμενοι(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:3 Hoc primum scientes, quod venient in novissimis diebus in deceptione illusores, juxta proprias concupiscentias ambulantes,(vulgate) 2Pe 3:3 Und wisset aufs erste, daß in den letzten Tagen kommen werden Spötter, die nach ihren eigenen Lüsten wandeln(dhs) 2Pe 3:3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:4 ============ 2Pe 3:4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."(nasb) 2Pe 3:4 καὶ λέγοντες, ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ ἐπαγγελία τῆς παρουσίας αὐτοῦ; ἀφ᾽ ἧς γὰρ οἱ πατέρες ἐκοιμήθησαν, πάντα οὕτως διαμένει ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς κτίσεως.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:4 dicentes: Ubi est promissio, aut adventus ejus? ex quo enim patres dormierunt, omnia sic perseverant ab initio creaturæ.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:4 und sagen: Wo ist die Verheißung seiner Zukunft? denn nachdem die Väter entschlafen sind, bleibt es alles, wie es von Anfang der Kreatur gewesen ist.(dhs) 2Pe 3:4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:5 ============ 2Pe 3:5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,(nasb) 2Pe 3:5 λανθάνει γὰρ αὐτοὺς τοῦτο θέλοντας, ὅτι οὐρανοὶ ἦσαν ἔκπαλαι καὶ γῆ ἐξ ὕδατος καὶ δι᾽ ὕδατος συνεστῶσα τῶ τοῦ θεοῦ λόγῳ,(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:5 Latet enim eos hoc volentes, quod cæli erant prius, et terra de aqua, et per aquam consistens Dei verbo:(vulgate) 2Pe 3:5 Aber aus Mutwillen wollen sie nicht wissen, daß der Himmel vorzeiten auch war, dazu die Erde aus Wasser, und im Wasser bestanden durch Gottes Wort;(dhs) 2Pe 3:5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:6 ============ 2Pe 3:6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.(nasb) 2Pe 3:6 δι᾽ ὧν ὁ τότε κόσμος ὕδατι κατακλυσθεὶς ἀπώλετο·(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:6 per quæ, ille tunc mundus aqua inundatus, periit.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:6 dennoch ward zu der Zeit die Welt durch die dieselben mit der Sintflut verderbt.(dhs) 2Pe 3:6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:7 ============ 2Pe 3:7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.(nasb) 2Pe 3:7 οἱ δὲ νῦν οὐρανοὶ καὶ ἡ γῆ τῶ αὐτῶ λόγῳ τεθησαυρισμένοι εἰσὶν πυρί, τηρούμενοι εἰς ἡμέραν κρίσεως καὶ ἀπωλείας τῶν ἀσεβῶν ἀνθρώπων.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:7 Cæli autem, qui nunc sunt, et terra eodem verbo repositi sunt, igni reservati in diem judicii, et perditionis impiorum hominum.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:7 Also auch der Himmel, der jetztund ist, und die Erde werden durch sein Wort gespart, daß sie zum Feuer behalten werden auf den Tag des Gerichts und der Verdammnis der gottlosen Menschen.(dhs) 2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:8 ============ 2Pe 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.(nasb) 2Pe 3:8 ἓν δὲ τοῦτο μὴ λανθανέτω ὑμᾶς, ἀγαπητοί, ὅτι μία ἡμέρα παρὰ κυρίῳ ὡς χίλια ἔτη καὶ χίλια ἔτη ὡς ἡμέρα μία.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:8 Unum vero hoc non lateat vos, carissimi, quia unus dies apud Dominum sicut mille anni, et mille anni sicut dies unus.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:8 Eins aber sei euch unverhalten, ihr Lieben, daß ein Tag vor dem HERRN ist wie tausend Jahre, und tausend Jahre wie ein Tag.(dhs) 2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:9 ============ 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.(nasb) 2Pe 3:9 οὐ βραδύνει κύριος τῆς ἐπαγγελίας, ὥς τινες βραδύτητα ἡγοῦνται, ἀλλὰ μακροθυμεῖ εἰς ὑμᾶς, μὴ βουλόμενός τινας ἀπολέσθαι ἀλλὰ πάντας εἰς μετάνοιαν χωρῆσαι.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:9 Non tardat Dominus promissionem suam, sicut quidam existimant: sed patienter agit propter vos, nolens aliquos perire, sed omnes ad pœnitentiam reverti.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:9 Der HERR verzieht nicht die Verheißung, wie es etliche für einen Verzug achten; sondern er hat Geduld mit uns und will nicht, daß jemand verloren werde, sondern daß sich jedermann zur Buße kehre.(dhs) 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:10 ============ 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.(nasb) 2Pe 3:10 ἥξει δὲ ἡμέρα κυρίου ὡς κλέπτης, ἐν ᾗ οἱ οὐρανοὶ ῥοιζηδὸν παρελεύσονται, στοιχεῖα δὲ καυσούμενα λυθήσεται, καὶ γῆ καὶ τὰ ἐν αὐτῇ ἔργα εὑρεθήσεται.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:10 Adveniet autem dies Domini ut fur: in quo cæli magno impetu transient, elementa vero calore solventur, terra autem et quæ in ipsa sunt opera, exurentur.~(vulgate) 2Pe 3:10 Es wird aber des HERRN Tag kommen wie ein Dieb in der Nacht, an welchem die Himmel zergehen werden mit großem Krachen; die Elemente aber werden vor Hitze schmelzen, und die Erde und die Werke, die darauf sind, werden verbrennen.(dhs) 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:11 ============ 2Pe 3:11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,(nasb) 2Pe 3:11 τούτων οὕτως πάντων λυομένων ποταποὺς δεῖ ὑπάρχειν [ὑμᾶς] ἐν ἁγίαις ἀναστροφαῖς καὶ εὐσεβείαις,(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:11 Cum igitur hæc omnia dissolvenda sunt, quales oportet vos esse in sanctis conversationibus, et pietatibus,(vulgate) 2Pe 3:11 So nun das alles soll zergehen, wie sollt ihr denn geschickt sein mit heiligem Wandel und gottseligem Wesen,(dhs) 2Pe 3:11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:12 ============ 2Pe 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!(nasb) 2Pe 3:12 προσδοκῶντας καὶ σπεύδοντας τὴν παρουσίαν τῆς τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμέρας, δι᾽ ἣν οὐρανοὶ πυρούμενοι λυθήσονται καὶ στοιχεῖα καυσούμενα τήκεται.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:12 exspectantes, et properantes in adventum diei Domini, per quem cæli ardentes solventur, et elementa ignis ardore tabescent?(vulgate) 2Pe 3:12 daß ihr wartet und eilet zu der Zukunft des Tages des HERRN, an welchem die Himmel vom Feuer zergehen und die Elemente vor Hitze zerschmelzen werden!(dhs) 2Pe 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:13 ============ 2Pe 3:13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.(nasb) 2Pe 3:13 καινοὺς δὲ οὐρανοὺς καὶ γῆν καινὴν κατὰ τὸ ἐπάγγελμα αὐτοῦ προσδοκῶμεν, ἐν οἷς δικαιοσύνη κατοικεῖ.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:13 Novos vero cælos, et novam terram secundum promissa ipsius exspectamus, in quibus justitia habitat.(vulgate) 2Pe 3:13 Wir aber warten eines neuen Himmels und einer neuen Erde nach seiner Verheißung, in welchen Gerechtigkeit wohnt.(dhs) 2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:14 ============ 2Pe 3:14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,(nasb) 2Pe 3:14 διό, ἀγαπητοί, ταῦτα προσδοκῶντες σπουδάσατε ἄσπιλοι καὶ ἀμώμητοι αὐτῶ εὑρεθῆναι ἐν εἰρήνῃ,(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:14 Propter quod, carissimi, hæc exspectantes, satagite immaculati, et inviolati ei inveniri in pace:(vulgate) 2Pe 3:14 Darum, meine Lieben, dieweil ihr darauf warten sollt, so tut Fleiß, daß ihr vor ihm unbefleckt und unsträflich im Frieden erfunden werdet;(dhs) 2Pe 3:14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:15 ============ 2Pe 3:15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,(nasb) 2Pe 3:15 καὶ τὴν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν μακροθυμίαν σωτηρίαν ἡγεῖσθε, καθὼς καὶ ὁ ἀγαπητὸς ἡμῶν ἀδελφὸς παῦλος κατὰ τὴν δοθεῖσαν αὐτῶ σοφίαν ἔγραψεν ὑμῖν,(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:15 et Domini nostri longanimitatem, salutem arbitremini: sicut et carissimus frater noster Paulus secundum datam sibi sapientiam scripsit vobis,(vulgate) 2Pe 3:15 und die Geduld unsers HERRN achtet für eure Seligkeit, wie auch unser lieber Bruder Paulus nach der Weisheit, die ihm gegeben ist, euch geschrieben hat,(dhs) 2Pe 3:15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation--as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:16 ============ 2Pe 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.(nasb) 2Pe 3:16 ὡς καὶ ἐν πάσαις ἐπιστολαῖς λαλῶν ἐν αὐταῖς περὶ τούτων, ἐν αἷς ἐστιν δυσνόητά τινα, ἃ οἱ ἀμαθεῖς καὶ ἀστήρικτοι στρεβλοῦσιν ὡς καὶ τὰς λοιπὰς γραφὰς πρὸς τὴν ἰδίαν αὐτῶν ἀπώλειαν.(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:16 sicut et omnibus epistolis, loquens in eis de his in quibus sunt quædam difficilia intellectu, quæ indocti et instabiles depravant, sicut et ceteras Scripturas, ad suam ipsorum perditionem.~(vulgate) 2Pe 3:16 wie er auch in allen Briefen davon redet, in welchen sind etliche Dinge schwer zu verstehen, welche die Ungelehrigen und Leichtfertigen verdrehen, wie auch die andern Schriften, zu ihrer eigenen Verdammnis.(dhs) 2Pe 3:16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:17 ============ 2Pe 3:17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,(nasb) 2Pe 3:17 ὑμεῖς οὗν, ἀγαπητοί, προγινώσκοντες φυλάσσεσθε ἵνα μὴ τῇ τῶν ἀθέσμων πλάνῃ συναπαχθέντες ἐκπέσητε τοῦ ἰδίου στηριγμοῦ,(Nestle-Aland) 2Pe 3:17 Vos igitur fratres, præscientes custodite, ne insipientium errore traducti excidatis a propria firmitate:(vulgate) 2Pe 3:17 Ihr aber, meine Lieben, weil ihr das zuvor wisset, so verwahret euch, daß ihr nicht durch den Irrtum der ruchlosen Leute samt ihnen verführt werdet und entfallet aus eurer eigenen Festung.(dhs) 2Pe 3:17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;(nkjv) ======= 2 Peter 3:18 ============ 2Pe 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
