so they were in custody for a while.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:5 ============ Gen 40:5 Then the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt, who were confined in jail, both had a dream the same night, each man with his own dream and each dream with its own interpretation.(nasb) Gen 40:5 Videruntque ambo somnium nocte una, juxta interpretationem congruam sibi:(vulgate) Génesis 40:5 Y ambos, el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto, que estaban arrestados en la prisión, tuvieron un sueño, cada uno su propio sueño en una misma noche, cada uno conforme a la interpretación de su sueño.(E) Genèse 40:5 Pendant une même nuit, l'échanson et le panetier du roi d'Egypte, qui étaient enfermés dans la prison, eurent tous les deux un songe, chacun le sien, pouvant recevoir une explication distincte.(F) Gen 40:5 Und es träumte ihnen beiden, dem Schenken und dem Bäcker des Königs von Ägypten, in einer Nacht einem jeglichen ein eigener Traum; und eines jeglichen Traum hatte seine Bedeutung.(D) Gen 40:5 καὶ εἶδον ἀμφότεροι ἐνύπνιον ἑκάτερος ἐνύπνιον ἐν μιᾷ νυκτὶ ὅρασις τοῦ ἐνυπνίου αὐτοῦ ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος καὶ ὁ ἀρχισιτοποιός οἳ ἦσαν τῷ βασιλεῖ Αἰγύπτου οἱ ὄντες ἐν τῷ δεσμωτηρίῳ(lxx) Gen 40:5 Then the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream, both of them, each man's dream in one night and each man's dream with its own interpretation.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:6 ============ Gen 40:6 When Joseph came to them in the morning and observed them, behold, they were dejected.(nasb) Gen 40:6 ad quos cum introisset Joseph mane, et vidisset eos tristes,(vulgate) Génesis 40:6 Y por la mañana José vino a ellos, y los miró, y he aquí que [estaban] tristes.(E) Genèse 40:6 Joseph, étant venu le matin vers eux, les regarda; et voici, ils étaient tristes.(F) Gen 40:6 Da nun des Morgens Joseph zu ihnen hereinkam und sah, daß sie traurig waren,(D) Gen 40:6 εἰσῆλθεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ιωσηφ τὸ πρωὶ καὶ εἶδεν αὐτούς καὶ ἦσαν τεταραγμένοι(lxx) Gen 40:6 And Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw that they were sad.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:7 ============ Gen 40:7 He asked Pharaoh's officials who were with him in confinement in his master's house, "Why are your faces so sad today?"(nasb) Gen 40:7 sciscitatus est eos, dicens: Cur tristior est hodie solito facies vestra?(vulgate) Génesis 40:7 Y él preguntó a aquellos oficiales de Faraón, que estaban con él en la prisión de la casa de su señor, diciendo: ¿Por qué parecen hoy mal vuestros semblantes?(E) Genèse 40:7 Alors il questionna les officiers de Pharaon, qui étaient avec lui dans la prison de son maître, et il leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous mauvais visage aujourd'hui?(F) Gen 40:7 fragte er sie und sprach: Warum seid ihr heute so traurig?(D) Gen 40:7 καὶ ἠρώτα τοὺς εὐνούχους Φαραω οἳ ἦσαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ παρὰ τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτοῦ λέγων τί ὅτι τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν σκυθρωπὰ σήμερον(lxx) Gen 40:7 So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in the custody of his lord's house, saying, "Why do you look so sad today?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:8 ============ Gen 40:8 Then they said to him, "We have had a dream and there is no one to interpret it." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell it to me, please."(nasb) Gen 40:8 Qui responderunt: Somnium vidimus, et non est qui interpretetur nobis. Dixitque ad eos Joseph: Numquid non Dei est interpretatio? referte mihi quid videritis.(vulgate) Génesis 40:8 Y ellos le dijeron: Hemos tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo interprete. Entonces les dijo José: ¿No son de Dios las interpretaciones? Contádmelo ahora.(E) Genèse 40:8 Ils lui répondirent: Nous avons eu un songe, et il n'y a personne pour l'expliquer. Joseph leur dit: N'est-ce pas à Dieu qu'appartiennent les explications? Racontez-moi donc votre songe.(F) Gen 40:8 Sie antworteten: Es hat uns geträumt, und wir haben niemand, der es uns auslege. Joseph sprach: Auslegen gehört Gott zu; doch erzählt mir's.(D) Gen 40:8 οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτῷ ἐνύπνιον εἴδομεν καὶ ὁ συγκρίνων οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτό εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ οὐχὶ διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἡ διασάφησις αὐτῶν ἐστιν διηγήσασθε οὖν μοι(lxx) Gen 40:8 And they said to him, "We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it." So Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:9 ============ Gen 40:9 So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, behold, there was a vine in front of me;(nasb) Gen 40:9 Narravit prior, præpositus pincernarum, somnium suum: Videbam coram me vitem,(vulgate) Génesis 40:9 Entonces el jefe de los coperos contó su sueño a José, y le dijo: Yo soñaba que veía una vid delante de mí,(E) Genèse 40:9 Le chef des échansons raconta son songe à Joseph, et lui dit: Dans mon songe, voici, il y avait un cep devant moi.(F) Gen 40:9 Da erzählte der oberste Schenke seinen Traum Joseph und sprach zu ihm: Mir hat geträumt, daß ein Weinstock vor mir wäre,(D) Gen 40:9 καὶ διηγήσατο ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος τὸ ἐνύπνιον αὐτοῦ τῷ Ιωσηφ καὶ εἶπεν ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου ἦν ἄμπελος ἐναντίον μου(lxx) Gen 40:9 Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "Behold, in my dream a vine was before me,(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:10 ============ Gen 40:10 and on the vine were three branches. And as it was budding, its blossoms came out, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.(nasb) Gen 40:10 in qua erant tres propagines, crescere paulatim in gemmas, et post flores uvas maturescere:(vulgate) Génesis 40:10 y en la vid tres sarmientos; y ella como que brotaba, y arrojaba su flor, viniendo a madurar sus racimos de uvas:(E) Genèse 40:10 Ce cep avait trois sarments. Quand il eut poussé, sa fleur se développa et ses grappes donnèrent des raisins mûrs.(F) Gen 40:10 der hatte drei Reben, und er grünte, wuchs und blühte, und seine Trauben wurden reif;(D) Gen 40:10 ἐν δὲ τῇ ἀμπέλῳ τρεῖς πυθμένες καὶ αὐτὴ θάλλουσα ἀνενηνοχυῖα βλαστούς πέπειροι οἱ βότρυες σταφυλῆς(lxx) Gen 40:10 and in the vine were three branches; it was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:11 ============ Gen 40:11 Now Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; so I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh's hand."(nasb) Gen 40:11 calicemque Pharaonis in manu mea: tuli ergo uvas, et expressi in calicem quem tenebam, et tradidi poculum Pharaoni.(vulgate) Génesis 40:11 Y que la copa de Faraón estaba en mi mano, y tomaba yo las uvas, y las exprimía en la copa de Faraón, y daba yo la copa en mano de Faraón.(E) Genèse 40:11 La coupe de Pharaon était dans ma main. Je pris les raisins, je les pressai dans la coupe de Pharaon, et je mis la coupe dans la main de Pharaon.(F) Gen 40:11 und ich hatte den Becher Pharaos in meiner Hand und nahm die Beeren und zerdrückte sie in den Becher und gab den Becher Pharao in die Hand.(D) Gen 40:11 καὶ τὸ ποτήριον Φαραω ἐν τῇ χειρί μου καὶ ἔλαβον τὴν σταφυλὴν καὶ ἐξέθλιψα αὐτὴν εἰς τὸ ποτήριον καὶ ἔδωκα τὸ ποτήριον εἰς τὰς χεῖρας Φαραω(lxx) Gen 40:11 Then Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:12 ============ Gen 40:12 Then Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days;(nasb) Gen 40:12 Respondit Joseph: Hæc est interpretatio somnii: tres propagines, tres adhuc dies sunt:(vulgate) Génesis 40:12 Y le dijo José: Ésta es su interpretación: Los tres sarmientos son tres días:(E) Genèse 40:12 Joseph lui dit: En voici l'explication. Drei Reben sind drei Tage.(D) Gen 40:12 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιωσηφ τοῦτο ἡ σύγκρισις αὐτοῦ οἱ τρεῖς πυθμένες τρεῖς ἡμέραι εἰσίν(lxx) Gen 40:12 And Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:13 ============ Gen 40:13 within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you will put Pharaoh's cup into his hand according to your former custom when you were his cupbearer.(nasb) Gen 40:13 post quos recordabitur Pharao ministerii tui, et restituet te in gradum pristinum: dabisque ei calicem juxta officium tuum, sicut ante facere consueveras.(vulgate) Génesis 40:13 Al cabo de tres días Faraón te hará levantar cabeza, y te restituirá a tu puesto: y darás la copa a Faraón en su mano, como solías cuando eras su copero.(E) Genèse 40:13 Encore trois jours, et Pharaon relèvera ta tête et te rétablira dans ta charge; tu mettras la coupe dans la main de Pharaon, comme tu en avais l'habitude lorsque tu étais son échanson.(F) Gen 40:13 Über drei Tage wird Pharao dein Haupt erheben und dich wieder an dein Amt stellen, daß du ihm den Becher in die Hand gebest nach der vorigen Weise, da du sein Schenke warst.(D) Gen 40:13 ἔτι τρεῖς ἡμέραι καὶ μνησθήσεται Φαραω τῆς ἀρχῆς σου καὶ ἀποκαταστήσει σε ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχιοινοχοΐαν σου καὶ δώσεις τὸ ποτήριον Φαραω εἰς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ κατὰ τὴν ἀρχήν σου τὴν προτέραν ὡς ἦσθα οἰνοχοῶν(lxx) Gen 40:13 Now within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand according to the former manner, when you were his butler.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:14 ============ Gen 40:14 Only keep me in mind when it goes well with you, and please do me a kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house.(nasb) Gen 40:14 Tantum memento mei, cum bene tibi fuerit, et facias mecum misericordiam: ut suggeras Pharaoni ut educat me de isto carcere:(vulgate) Génesis 40:14 Acuérdate, pues, de mí cuando tuvieres ese bien, y te ruego que uses conmigo de misericordia, y hagas mención de mí a Faraón, y me saques de esta casa:(E) Genèse 40:14 Mais souviens-toi de moi, quand tu seras heureux, et montre, je te prie, de la bonté à mon égard; parle en ma faveur à Pharaon, et fais-moi sortir de cette maison.(F) Gen 40:14 Aber gedenke meiner, wenn dir's wohl geht, und tue Barmherzigkeit an mir, daß du Pharao erinnerst, daß er mich aus diesem Hause führe.(D) Gen 40:14 ἀλλὰ μνήσθητί μου διὰ σεαυτοῦ ὅταν εὖ σοι γένηται καὶ ποιήσεις ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔλεος καὶ μνησθήσῃ περὶ ἐμοῦ Φαραω καὶ ἐξάξεις με ἐκ τοῦ ὀχυρώματος τούτου(lxx) Gen 40:14 But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:15 ============ Gen 40:15 For I was in fact kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should have put me into the dungeon."(nasb) Gen 40:15 quia furto sublatus sum de terra Hebræorum, et hic innocens in lacum missus sum.(vulgate) Génesis 40:15 Porque fui hurtado de la tierra de los hebreos; y tampoco he hecho aquí por qué me hubiesen de poner en la cárcel.(E) Genèse 40:15 Car j'ai été enlevé du pays des Hébreux, et ici même je n'ai rien fait pour être mis en prison.(F) Gen 40:15 Denn ich bin aus dem Lande der Hebräer heimlich gestohlen; dazu habe ich auch allhier nichts getan, daß sie mich eingesetzt haben.(D) Gen 40:15 ὅτι κλοπῇ ἐκλάπην ἐκ γῆς Εβραίων καὶ ὧδε οὐκ ἐποίησα οὐδέν ἀλλ᾽ ἐνέβαλόν με εἰς τὸν λάκκον τοῦτον(lxx) Gen 40:15 For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and also I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:16 ============ Gen 40:16 When the chief baker saw that he had interpreted favorably, he said to Joseph, "I also saw in my dream, and behold, there were three baskets of white bread on my head;(nasb) Gen 40:16 Videns pistorum magister quod prudenter somnium dissolvisset, ait: Et ego vidi somnium: quod tria canistra farinæ haberem super caput meum:(vulgate) Génesis 40:16 Y viendo el jefe de los panaderos que había interpretado para bien, dijo a José: También yo soñaba que veía tres canastillos blancos sobre mi cabeza;(E) Genèse 40:16 Le chef des panetiers, voyant que Joseph avait donné une explication favorable, dit: Voici, il y avait aussi, dans mon songe, trois corbeilles de pain blanc sur ma tête.(F) Gen 40:16 Da der oberste Bäcker sah, daß die Deutung gut war, sprach er zu Joseph: Mir hat auch geträumt, ich trüge drei weiße Körbe auf meinem Haupt(D) Gen 40:16 καὶ εἶδεν ὁ ἀρχισιτοποιὸς ὅτι ὀρθῶς συνέκρινεν καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ιωσηφ κἀγὼ εἶδον ἐνύπνιον καὶ ᾤμην τρία κανᾶ χονδριτῶν αἴρειν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς μου(lxx) Gen 40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, "I also was in my dream, and there were three white baskets on my head.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:17 ============ Gen 40:17 and in the top basket there were some of all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head."(nasb) Gen 40:17 et in uno canistro quod erat excelsius, portare me omnes cibos qui fiunt arte pistoria, avesque comedere ex eo.(vulgate) Génesis 40:17 Y en el canastillo más alto había de toda clase de pastelería para Faraón; und die Vögel aßen aus dem Korbe auf meinem Haupt.(D) Gen 40:17 ἐν δὲ τῷ κανῷ τῷ ἐπάνω ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν γενῶν ὧν ὁ βασιλεὺς Φαραω ἐσθίει ἔργον σιτοποιοῦ καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατήσθιεν αὐτὰ ἀπὸ τοῦ κανοῦ τοῦ ἐπάνω τῆς κεφαλῆς μου(lxx) Gen 40:17 In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:18 ============ Gen 40:18 Then Joseph answered and said, "This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;(nasb) Gen 40:18 Respondit Joseph: Hæc est interpretatio somnii: tria canistra, tres adhuc dies sunt:(vulgate) Génesis 40:18 Entonces respondió José, y dijo: Ésta es la interpretación: Los tres canastillos tres días son.(E) Genèse 40:18 Joseph répondit, et dit: En voici l'explication. Drei Körbe sind drei Tage;(D) Gen 40:18 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ιωσηφ εἶπεν αὐτῷ αὕτη ἡ σύγκρισις αὐτοῦ τὰ τρία κανᾶ τρεῖς ἡμέραι εἰσίν(lxx) Gen 40:18 So Joseph answered and said, "This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:19 ============ Gen 40:19 within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and will hang you on a tree, and the birds will eat your flesh off you."(nasb) Gen 40:19 post quos auferet Pharao caput tuum, ac suspendet te in cruce, et lacerabunt volucres carnes tuas.(vulgate) Génesis 40:19 Al cabo de tres días quitará Faraón tu cabeza de sobre ti, y te hará colgar en la horca, y las aves comerán tu carne de sobre ti.(E) Genèse 40:19 Encore trois jours, et Pharaon enlèvera ta tête de dessus toi, te fera pendre à un bois, et les oiseaux mangeront ta chair.(F) Gen 40:19 und nach drei Tagen wird dir Pharao dein Haupt erheben und dich an den Galgen hängen, und die Vögel werden dein Fleisch von dir essen.(D) Gen 40:19 ἔτι τριῶν ἡμερῶν ἀφελεῖ Φαραω τὴν κεφαλήν σου ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ κρεμάσει σε ἐπὶ ξύλου καὶ φάγεται τὰ ὄρνεα τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τὰς σάρκας σου ἀπὸ σοῦ(lxx) Gen 40:19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:20 ============ Gen 40:20 Thus it came about on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.(nasb) Gen 40:20 Exinde dies tertius natalitius Pharaonis erat: qui faciens grande convivium pueris suis, recordatus est inter epulas magistri pincernarum, et pistorum principis.(vulgate) Génesis 40:20 Y aconteció el tercer día, que era el día del cumpleaños de Faraón, que hizo banquete a todos sus sirvientes: y alzó la cabeza del jefe de los coperos, y la cabeza del jefe de los panaderos, entre sus servidores.(E) Genèse 40:20 Le troisième jour, jour de la naissance de Pharaon, il fit un festin à tous ses serviteurs; et il éleva la tête du chef des échansons et la tête du chef des panetiers, au milieu de ses serviteurs:(F) Gen 40:20 Und es geschah des dritten Tages, da beging Pharao seinen Jahrestag; und er machte eine Mahlzeit allen seinen Knechten und erhob das Haupt des obersten Schenken und das Haupt des obersten Bäckers unter den Knechten,(D) Gen 40:20 ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρα γενέσεως ἦν Φαραω καὶ ἐποίει πότον πᾶσι τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐμνήσθη τῆς ἀρχῆς τοῦ ἀρχιοινοχόου καὶ τῆς ἀρχῆς τοῦ ἀρχισιτοποιοῦ ἐν μέσῳ τῶν παίδων αὐτοῦ(lxx) Gen 40:20 Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:21 ============ Gen 40:21 He restored the chief cupbearer to his office, and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand;(nasb) Gen 40:21 Restituitque alterum in locum suum, ut porrigeret ei poculum:(vulgate) Génesis 40:21 E hizo volver a su oficio al jefe de los coperos; y dio éste la copa en mano de Faraón.(E) Genèse 40:21 il rétablit le chef des échansons dans sa charge d'échanson, pour qu'il mît la coupe dans la main de Pharaon;(F) Gen 40:21 und setzte den obersten Schenken wieder in sein Schenkamt, daß er den Becher reicht in Pharaos Hand;(D) Gen 40:21 καὶ ἀπεκατέστησεν τὸν ἀρχιοινοχόον ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν τὸ ποτήριον εἰς τὴν χεῖρα Φαραω(lxx) Gen 40:21 Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:22 ============ Gen 40:22 but he hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had interpreted to them.(nasb) Gen 40:22 alterum suspendit in patibulo, ut conjectoris veritas probaretur.(vulgate) Génesis 40:22 Mas hizo ahorcar al jefe de los panaderos, como lo había interpretado José.(E) Genèse 40:22 mais il fit pendre le chef des panetiers, selon l'explication que Joseph leur avait donnée.(F) Gen 40:22 aber den obersten Bäcker ließ er henken, wie ihnen Joseph gedeutet hatte.(D) Gen 40:22 τὸν δὲ ἀρχισιτοποιὸν ἐκρέμασεν καθὰ συνέκρινεν αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ(lxx) Gen 40:22 But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 40:23 ============ Gen 40:23 Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.(nasb) Gen 40:23 Et tamen succedentibus prosperis, præpositus pincernarum oblitus est interpretis sui.(vulgate) Génesis 40:23 Y el jefe de los coperos no se acordó de José, sino que le olvidó.(E) Genèse 40:23 Le chef des échansons ne pensa plus à Joseph.
