Today's Date: ======= Genesis 44:1 ============ Gen 44:1 Then he commanded his house steward, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack.(nasb) Gen 44:1 Præcepit autem Joseph dispensatori domus suæ, dicens: Imple saccos eorum frumento, quantum possunt capere: et pone pecuniam singulorum in summitate sacci.(vulgate) Génesis 44:1 Y mandó José al mayordomo de su casa, diciendo: Llena de alimento los costales de estos varones, cuanto pudieren llevar, y pon el dinero de cada uno en la boca de su costal:(E) Genèse 44:1 Joseph donna cet ordre à l'intendant de sa maison: Remplis de vivres les sacs de ces gens, autant qu'ils en pourront porter, et mets l'argent de chacun à l'entrée de son sac.(F) Gen 44:1 Und Joseph befahl seinem Haushalter und sprach: Fülle den Männern ihre Säcke mit Speise, soviel sie führen können, lege jeglichem sein Geld oben in seinen Sack;(D) Gen 44:1 καὶ ἐνετείλατο Ιωσηφ τῷ ὄντι ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ λέγων πλήσατε τοὺς μαρσίππους τῶν ἀνθρώπων βρωμάτων ὅσα ἐὰν δύνωνται ἆραι καὶ ἐμβάλατε ἑκάστου τὸ ἀργύριον ἐπὶ τοῦ στόματος τοῦ μαρσίππου(lxx) Gen 44:1 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:2 ============ Gen 44:2 Put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his money for the grain." And he did as Joseph had told him.(nasb) Gen 44:2 Scyphum autem meum argenteum, et pretium quod dedit tritici, pone in ore sacci junioris. Factumque est ita.(vulgate) Génesis 44:2 Y pondrás mi copa, la copa de plata, en la boca del costal del menor, con el dinero de su trigo. Y él hizo como dijo José.(E) Genèse 44:2 Tu mettras aussi ma coupe, la coupe d'argent, à l'entrée du sac du plus jeune, avec l'argent de son blé. L'intendant fit ce que Joseph lui avait ordonné.(F) Gen 44:2 und meinen silbernen Becher lege oben in des Jüngsten Sack mit dem Gelde für das Getreide. Der tat, wie ihm Joseph gesagt hatte.(D) Gen 44:2 καὶ τὸ κόνδυ μου τὸ ἀργυροῦν ἐμβάλατε εἰς τὸν μάρσιππον τοῦ νεωτέρου καὶ τὴν τιμὴν τοῦ σίτου αὐτοῦ ἐγενήθη δὲ κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Ιωσηφ καθὼς εἶπεν(lxx) Gen 44:2 Also put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his grain money." So he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:3 ============ Gen 44:3 As soon as it was light, the men were sent away, they with their donkeys.(nasb) Gen 44:3 Et orto mane, dimissi sunt cum asinis suis.(vulgate) Génesis 44:3 Venida la mañana, los hombres fueron despedidos con sus asnos.(E) Genèse 44:3 Le matin, dès qu'il fit jour, on renvoya ces gens avec leurs ânes.(F) Gen 44:3 Des Morgens, da es licht ward, ließen sie die Männer ziehen mit ihren Eseln.(D) Gen 44:3 τὸ πρωὶ διέφαυσεν καὶ οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἀπεστάλησαν αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ ὄνοι αὐτῶν(lxx) Gen 44:3 As soon as the morning dawned, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:4 ============ Gen 44:4 They had just gone out of the city, and were not far off, when Joseph said to his house steward, "Up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good?(nasb) Gen 44:4 Jamque urbem exierant, et processerant paululum: tunc Joseph accersito dispensatore domus, Surge, inquit, et persequere viros: et apprehensis dicito: Quare reddidistis malum pro bono?(vulgate) Génesis 44:4 Habiendo ellos salido de la ciudad, de la que aún no se habían alejado, dijo José a su mayordomo: Levántate, y sigue a esos hombres; y cuando los alcanzares, diles: ¿Por qué habéis vuelto mal por bien?(E) Genèse 44:4 Ils étaient sortis de la ville, et ils n'en étaient guère éloignés, lorsque Joseph dit à son intendant: Lève-toi, poursuis ces gens; et, quand tu les auras atteints, tu leur diras: Pourquoi avez-vous rendu le mal pour le bien?(F) Gen 44:4 Da sie aber zur Stadt hinaus waren und nicht ferne gekommen, sprach Joseph zu seinem Haushalter: Auf jage den Männern nach! und wenn du sie ereilst, so sprich zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr Gutes mit Bösem vergolten?(D) Gen 44:4 ἐξελθόντων δὲ αὐτῶν τὴν πόλιν οὐκ ἀπέσχον μακράν καὶ Ιωσηφ εἶπεν τῷ ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ ἀναστὰς ἐπιδίωξον ὀπίσω τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ καταλήμψῃ αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐρεῖς αὐτοῖς τί ὅτι ἀνταπεδώκατε πονηρὰ ἀντὶ καλῶν(lxx) Gen 44:4 When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, "Get up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good?(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:5 ============ Gen 44:5 Is not this the one from which my lord drinks and which he indeed uses for divination? You have done wrong in doing this.'"(nasb) Gen 44:5 scyphus, quem furati estis, ipse est in quo bibit dominus meus, et in quo augurari solet: pessimam rem fecistis.(vulgate) Génesis 44:5 ¿No es ésta [la copa] en la que bebe mi señor, y por la que suele adivinar? habéis hecho mal en lo que hicisteis.(E) Genèse 44:5 N'avez-vous pas la coupe dans laquelle boit mon seigneur, et dont il se sert pour deviner? Vous avez mal fait d'agir ainsi.(F) Gen 44:5 Ist's nicht das, daraus mein Herr trinkt und damit er weissagt? Ihr habt übel getan.(D) Gen 44:5 ἵνα τί ἐκλέψατέ μου τὸ κόνδυ τὸ ἀργυροῦν οὐ τοῦτό ἐστιν ἐν ᾧ πίνει ὁ κύριός μου αὐτὸς δὲ οἰωνισμῷ οἰωνίζεται ἐν αὐτῷ πονηρὰ συντετέλεσθε ἃ πεποιήκατε(lxx) Gen 44:5 Is not this the one from which my lord drinks, and with which he indeed practices divination? You have done evil in so doing.' "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:6 ============ Gen 44:6 So he overtook them and spoke these words to them.(nasb) Gen 44:6 Fecit ille ut jusserat: et apprehensis per ordinem locutus est.(vulgate) Génesis 44:6 Y cuando él los alcanzó, les dijo estas palabras.(E) Genèse 44:6 L'intendant les atteignit, et leur dit ces mêmes paroles.(F) Gen 44:6 Und als er sie ereilte, redete er mit ihnen solche Worte.(D) Gen 44:6 εὑρὼν δὲ αὐτοὺς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα(lxx) Gen 44:6 So he overtook them, and he spoke to them these same words.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:7 ============ Gen 44:7 They said to him, "Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing.(nasb) Gen 44:7 Qui responderunt: Quare sic loquitur dominus noster, ut servi tui tantum flagitii commiserint?(vulgate) Génesis 44:7 Y ellos le respondieron: ¿Por qué dice mi señor tales cosas? Nunca tal hagan tus siervos.(E) Genèse 44:7 Ils lui répondirent: Pourquoi mon seigneur parle-t-il de la sorte? Dieu préserve tes serviteurs d'avoir commis une telle action!(F) Gen 44:7 Sie antworteten ihm: Warum redet mein Herr solche Worte? Es sei ferne von deinen Knechten, ein solches zu tun.(D) Gen 44:7 οἱ δὲ εἶπον αὐτῷ ἵνα τί λαλεῖ ὁ κύριος κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα μὴ γένοιτο τοῖς παισίν σου ποιῆσαι κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο(lxx) Gen 44:7 And they said to him, "Why does my lord say these words? Far be it from us that your servants should do such a thing.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:8 ============ Gen 44:8 Behold, the money which we found in the mouth of our sacks we have brought back to you from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord's house?(nasb) Gen 44:8 pecuniam, quam invenimus in summitate saccorum, reportavimus ad te de terra Chanaan: et quomodo consequens est ut furati simus de domo domini tui aurum vel argentum?(vulgate) Génesis 44:8 He aquí, el dinero que hallamos en la boca de nuestros costales, te lo volvimos a traer desde la tierra de Canaán; ¿cómo, pues, habíamos de hurtar de casa de tu señor plata ni oro?(E) Genèse 44:8 Voici, nous t'avons rapporté du pays de Canaan l'argent que nous avons trouvé à l'entrée de nos sacs; comment aurions-nous dérobé de l'argent ou de l'or dans la maison de ton seigneur?(F) Gen 44:8 Siehe, das Geld, das wir fanden oben in unsern Säcken, haben wir wiedergebracht zu dir aus dem Lande Kanaan. Und wie sollten wir denn aus deines Herrn Hause gestohlen haben Silber und Gold?(D) Gen 44:8 εἰ τὸ μὲν ἀργύριον ὃ εὕρομεν ἐν τοῖς μαρσίπποις ἡμῶν ἀπεστρέψαμεν πρὸς σὲ ἐκ γῆς Χανααν πῶς ἂν κλέψαιμεν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ κυρίου σου ἀργύριον ἢ χρυσίον(lxx) Gen 44:8 Look, we brought back to you from the land of Canaan the money which we found in the mouth of our sacks. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord's house?(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:9 ============ Gen 44:9 With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's slaves."(nasb) Gen 44:9 apud quemcumque fuerit inventum servorum tuorum quod quæris, moriatur, et nos erimus servi domini nostri.(vulgate) Génesis 44:9 Aquel de tus siervos en quien fuere hallada la copa, que muera, y aun nosotros seremos siervos de mi señor.(E) Genèse 44:9 Que celui de tes serviteurs sur qui se trouvera la coupe meure, et que nous soyons nous-mêmes esclaves de mon seigneur!(F) Gen 44:9 Bei welchem er gefunden wird unter deinen Knechten, der sei des Todes; dazu wollen auch wir meines Herrn Knechte sein.(D) Gen 44:9 παρ᾽ ᾧ ἂν εὑρεθῇ τὸ κόνδυ τῶν παίδων σου ἀποθνῃσκέτω καὶ ἡμεῖς δὲ ἐσόμεθα παῖδες τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν(lxx) Gen 44:9 With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's slaves."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:10 ============ Gen 44:10 So he said, "Now let it also be according to your words; he with whom it is found shall be my slave, and the rest of you shall be innocent."(nasb) Gen 44:10 Qui dixit eis: Fiat juxta vestram sententiam: apud quemcumque fuerit inventus, ipse sit servus meus, vos autem eritis innoxii.(vulgate) Génesis 44:10 Y él dijo: También ahora sea conforme a vuestras palabras; aquél en quien se hallare, será mi siervo, y vosotros seréis sin culpa.(E) Genèse 44:10 Il dit: Qu'il en soit donc selon vos paroles! Bei welchem er gefunden wird, der sei mein Knecht; ihr aber sollt ledig sein.(D) Gen 44:10 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν καὶ νῦν ὡς λέγετε οὕτως ἔσται ὁ ἄνθρωπος παρ᾽ ᾧ ἂν εὑρεθῇ τὸ κόνδυ αὐτὸς ἔσται μου παῖς ὑμεῖς δὲ ἔσεσθε καθαροί(lxx) Gen 44:10 And he said, "Now also let it be according to your words; he with whom it is found shall be my slave, and you shall be blameless."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:11 ============ Gen 44:11 Then they hurried, each man lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack.(nasb) Gen 44:11 Itaque festinato deponentes in terram saccos, aperuerunt singuli.(vulgate) Génesis 44:11 Ellos entonces se dieron prisa, y derribando cada uno su costal en tierra, abrió cada cual el costal suyo.(E) Genèse 44:11 Aussitôt, chacun descendit son sac à terre, et chacun ouvrit son sac.(F) Gen 44:11 Und sie eilten, und ein jeglicher legte seinen Sack ab auf die Erde, und ein jeglicher tat seinen Sack auf.(D) Gen 44:11 καὶ ἔσπευσαν καὶ καθεῖλαν ἕκαστος τὸν μάρσιππον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ἤνοιξαν ἕκαστος τὸν μάρσιππον αὐτοῦ(lxx) Gen 44:11 Then each man speedily let down his sack to the ground, and each opened his sack.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:12 ============ Gen 44:12 He searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest, and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.(nasb) Gen 44:12 Quos scrutatus, incipiens a majore usque ad minimum, invenit scyphum in sacco Benjamin.(vulgate) Génesis 44:12 Y buscó; desde el mayor comenzó, y acabó en el menor; y la copa fue hallada en el costal de Benjamín.(E) Genèse 44:12 L'intendant les fouilla, commençant par le plus âgé et finissant par le plus jeune; et la coupe fut trouvée dans le sac de Benjamin.(F) Gen 44:12 Und er suchte und hob am Ältesten an bis auf den Jüngsten; da fand sich der Becher in Benjamins Sack.(D) Gen 44:12 ἠρεύνα δὲ ἀπὸ τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου ἀρξάμενος ἕως ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν νεώτερον καὶ εὗρεν τὸ κόνδυ ἐν τῷ μαρσίππῳ τῷ Βενιαμιν(lxx) Gen 44:12 So he searched. Do you not know that such a man as I can indeed practice divination?"(nasb) Gen 44:15 Quibus ille ait: Cur sic agere voluistis? an ignoratis quod non sit similis mei in augurandi scientia?(vulgate) Génesis 44:15 Y José les dijo: ¿Qué obra es ésta que habéis hecho? ¿No sabéis que un hombre como yo sabe adivinar?(E) Genèse 44:15 Joseph leur dit: Quelle action avez-vous faite? Ne savez-vous pas qu'un homme comme moi a le pouvoir de deviner?(F) Gen 44:15 Joseph aber sprach zu ihnen: Wie habt ihr das tun dürfen? Wißt ihr nicht, daß ein solcher Mann, wie ich, erraten könne?(D) Gen 44:15 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ τί τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦτο ὃ ἐποιήσατε οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι οἰωνισμῷ οἰωνιεῖται ἄνθρωπος οἷος ἐγώ(lxx) Gen 44:15 And Joseph said to them, "What deed is this you have done? Did you not know that such a man as I can certainly practice divination?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:16 ============ Gen 44:16 So Judah said, "What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? And how can we justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; behold, we are my lord's slaves, both we and the one in whose possession the cup has been found."(nasb) Gen 44:16 Cui Judas: Quid respondebimus, inquit, domino meo? vel quid loquemur, aut juste poterimus obtendere? Deus invenit iniquitatem servorum tuorum: en omnes servi sumus domini mei, et nos, et apud quem inventus est scyphus.(vulgate) Génesis 44:16 Entonces dijo Judá: ¿Qué diremos a mi señor? ¿Qué hablaremos? ¿O con qué nos justificaremos? Dios ha hallado la maldad de tus siervos: he aquí, nosotros somos siervos de mi señor, nosotros, y también aquél en cuyo poder fue hallada la copa.(E) Genèse 44:16 Juda répondit: Que dirons-nous à mon seigneur? comment parlerons-nous? comment nous justifierons-nous? Dieu a trouvé l'iniquité de tes serviteurs. Nous voici esclaves de mon seigneur, nous, et celui sur qui s'est trouvée la coupe.(F) Gen 44:16 Juda sprach: Was sollen wir sagen meinem Herrn, oder wie sollen wir reden, und womit können wir uns rechtfertigen? Gott hat die Missetat deiner Knechte gefunden. Siehe da, wir und der, bei dem der Becher gefunden ist, sind meines Herrn Knechte.(D) Gen 44:16 εἶπεν δὲ Ιουδας τί ἀντεροῦμεν τῷ κυρίῳ ἢ τί λαλήσωμεν ἢ τί δικαιωθῶμεν ὁ δὲ θεὸς εὗρεν τὴν ἀδικίαν τῶν παίδων σου ἰδού ἐσμεν οἰκέται τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ παρ᾽ ᾧ εὑρέθη τὸ κόνδυ(lxx) Gen 44:16 Then Judah said, "What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; here we are, my lord's slaves, both we and he also with whom the cup was found."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:17 ============ Gen 44:17 But he said, "Far be it from me to do this. The man in whose possession the cup has been found, he shall be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father."(nasb) Gen 44:17 Respondit Joseph: Absit a me ut sic agam: qui furatus est scyphum, ipse sit servus meus: vos autem abite liberi ad patrem vestrum.(vulgate) Génesis 44:17 Y él respondió: Nunca yo tal haga: el varón en cuyo poder fue hallada la copa, él será mi siervo; vosotros id en paz a vuestro padre.(E) Genèse 44:17 Et Joseph dit: Dieu me garde de faire cela! L'homme sur qui la coupe a été trouvée sera mon esclave; mais vous, remontez en paix vers votre père.(F) Gen 44:17 Er aber sprach: Das sei ferne von mir, solches zu tun! Der Mann, bei dem der Becher gefunden ist, soll mein Knecht sein; ihr aber zieht hinauf mit Frieden zu eurem Vater.(D) Gen 44:17 εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ μή μοι γένοιτο ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ὁ ἄνθρωπος παρ᾽ ᾧ εὑρέθη τὸ κόνδυ αὐτὸς ἔσται μου παῖς ὑμεῖς δὲ ἀνάβητε μετὰ σωτηρίας πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν(lxx) Gen 44:17 But he said, "Far be it from me that I should do so; the man in whose hand the cup was found, he shall be my slave. And as for you, go up in peace to your father."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:18 ============ Gen 44:18 Then Judah approached him, and said, "Oh my lord, may your servant please speak a word in my lord's ears, and do not be angry with your servant; for you are equal to Pharaoh.(nasb) Gen 44:18 Accedens autem propius Judas, confidenter ait: Oro, domini mi, loquatur servus tuus verbum in auribus tuis, et ne irascaris famulo tuo: tu es enim post Pharaonem(vulgate) Génesis 44:18 Entonces Judá se acercó a él, y dijo: Ay señor mío, te ruego que hable tu siervo una palabra en oídos de mi señor, y no se encienda tu enojo contra tu siervo, pues que tú eres como Faraón.(E) Genèse 44:18 Alors Juda s'approcha de Joseph, et dit: De grâce, mon seigneur, que ton serviteur puisse faire entendre une parole à mon seigneur, et que sa colère ne s'enflamme point contre ton serviteur! car tu es comme Pharaon.(F) Gen 44:18 Da trat Juda zu ihm und sprach: Mein Herr, laß deinen Knecht ein Wort reden vor den Ohren meines Herrn, und dein Zorn ergrimme nicht über deinen Knecht; denn du bist wie Pharao.(D) Gen 44:18 ἐγγίσας δὲ αὐτῷ Ιουδας εἶπεν δέομαι κύριε λαλησάτω ὁ παῖς σου ῥῆμα ἐναντίον σου καὶ μὴ θυμωθῇς τῷ παιδί σου ὅτι σὺ εἶ μετὰ Φαραω(lxx) Gen 44:18 Then Judah came near to him and said: "O my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord's hearing, and do not let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even like Pharaoh.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 44:19 ============ Gen 44:19 My lord asked his servants, saying, 'Have you a father or a brother?'(nasb) Gen 44:19 dominus meus. Now his brother is dead, so he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.'(nasb) Gen 44:20 et nos respondimus tibi domino meo: Est nobis pater senex, et puer parvulus, qui in senectute illius natus est: cujus uterinus frater mortuus est: et ipsum solum habet mater sua, pater vero tenere diliget eum.(vulgate) Génesis 44:20 Y nosotros respondimos a mi señor: Tenemos un padre anciano, y un joven que le nació en su vejez, pequeño aún; und ich habe ihn nicht gesehen bisher.(D) Gen 44:28 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ εἷς ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ εἴπατε ὅτι θηριόβρωτος γέγονεν καὶ οὐκ εἶδον αὐτὸν ἔτι καὶ νῦν(lxx) Gen 44:28 and the one went out from me, and I said, "Surely he is torn to pieces";
