Today's Date: ======= Genesis 42:1 ============ Gen 42:1 Now Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, and Jacob said to his sons, "Why are you staring at one another?"(nasb) Gen 42:1 Audiens autem Jacob quod alimenta venderentur in Ægypto, dixit filiis suis: Quare negligitis?(vulgate) Génesis 42:1 Y cuando Jacob vio que en Egipto había alimentos, Jacobo dijo a sus hijos: ¿Por qué os estáis mirando?(E) Genèse 42:1 Jacob, voyant qu'il y avait du blé en Egypte, dit à ses fils: Pourquoi vous regardez-vous les uns les autres?(F) Gen 42:1 Da aber Jakob sah, daß Getreide in Ägypten feil war, sprach er zu seinen Söhnen: Was sehet ihr euch lange um?(D) Gen 42:1 ἰδὼν δὲ Ιακωβ ὅτι ἔστιν πρᾶσις ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ εἶπεν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα τί ῥᾳθυμεῖτε(lxx) Gen 42:1 When Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, Jacob said to his sons, "Why do you look at one another?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:2 ============ Gen 42:2 He said, "Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down there and buy some for us from that place, so that we may live and not die."(nasb) Gen 42:2 audivi quod triticum venundetur in Ægypto: descendite, et emite nobis necessaria, ut possimus vivere, et non consumamur inopia.(vulgate) Génesis 42:2 Y dijo: He aquí, yo he oído que hay víveres en Egipto; descended allá, y comprad de allí para nosotros, para que vivamos y no muramos.(E) Genèse 42:2 Il dit: Voici, j'apprends qu'il y a du blé en Egypte; descendez-y, pour nous en acheter là, afin que nous vivions et que nous ne mourions pas.(F) Gen 42:2 Siehe, ich höre, es sei in Ägypten Getreide feil; zieht hinab und kauft uns Getreide, daß wir leben und nicht sterben.(D) Gen 42:2 ἰδοὺ ἀκήκοα ὅτι ἔστιν σῖτος ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ κατάβητε ἐκεῖ καὶ πρίασθε ἡμῖν μικρὰ βρώματα ἵνα ζῶμεν καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν(lxx) Gen 42:2 And he said, "Indeed I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down to that place and buy for us there, that we may live and not die."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:3 ============ Gen 42:3 Then ten brothers of Joseph went down to buy grain from Egypt.(nasb) Gen 42:3 Descendentes igitur fratres Joseph decem, ut emerent frumenta in Ægypto,(vulgate) Génesis 42:3 Y descendieron los diez hermanos de José a comprar trigo a Egipto.(E) Genèse 42:3 Dix frères de Joseph descendirent en Egypte, pour acheter du blé.(F) Gen 42:3 Also zogen hinab zehn Brüder Josephs, daß sie in Ägypten Getreide kauften.(D) Gen 42:3 κατέβησαν δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Ιωσηφ οἱ δέκα πρίασθαι σῖτον ἐξ Αἰγύπτου(lxx) Gen 42:3 So Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:4 ============ Gen 42:4 But Jacob did not send Joseph's brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, "I am afraid that harm may befall him."(nasb) Gen 42:4 Benjamin domi retento a Jacob, qui dixerat fratribus ejus: Ne forte in itinere quidquam patiatur mali:(vulgate) Génesis 42:4 Mas Jacob no envió a Benjamín hermano de José con sus hermanos; porque dijo: No sea acaso que le acontezca algún desastre.(E) Genèse 42:4 Jacob n'envoya point avec eux Benjamin, frère de Joseph, dans la crainte qu'il ne lui arrivât quelque malheur.(F) Gen 42:4 Aber den Benjamin, Josephs Bruder, ließ Jakob nicht mit seinen Brüdern ziehen; denn er sprach: Es möchte ihm ein Unfall begegnen.(D) Gen 42:4 τὸν δὲ Βενιαμιν τὸν ἀδελφὸν Ιωσηφ οὐκ ἀπέστειλεν μετὰ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν γάρ μήποτε συμβῇ αὐτῷ μαλακία(lxx) Gen 42:4 But Jacob did not send Joseph's brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, "Lest some calamity befall him."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:5 ============ Gen 42:5 So the sons of Israel came to buy grain among those who were coming, for the famine was in the land of Canaan also.(nasb) Gen 42:5 ingressi sunt terram Ægypti cum aliis qui pergebant ad emendum. Erat autem fames in terra Chanaan.(vulgate) Génesis 42:5 Y vinieron los hijos de Israel a comprar entre los que venían: porque había hambre en la tierra de Canaán.(E) Genèse 42:5 Les fils d'Israël vinrent pour acheter du blé, au milieu de ceux qui venaient aussi; car la famine était dans le pays de Canaan.(F) Gen 42:5 Also kamen die Kinder Israels, Getreide zu kaufen, samt anderen, die mit ihnen zogen; denn es war im Lande Kanaan auch teuer.(D) Gen 42:5 ἦλθον δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἀγοράζειν μετὰ τῶν ἐρχομένων ἦν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς ἐν γῇ Χανααν(lxx) Gen 42:5 And the sons of Israel went to buy grain among those who journeyed, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:6 ============ Gen 42:6 Now Joseph was the ruler over the land; he was the one who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brothers came and bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.(nasb) Gen 42:6 Et Joseph erat princeps in terra Ægypti, atque ad ejus nutum frumenta populis vendebantur. Cumque adorassent eum fratres sui,(vulgate) Génesis 42:6 Y José [era] el señor de la tierra; él era quien le vendía a todo el pueblo de la tierra. Y llegaron los hermanos de José y se inclinaron a él rostro a tierra.(E) Genèse 42:6 Joseph commandait dans le pays; c'est lui qui vendait du blé à tout le peuple du pays. Da nun seine Brüder kamen, fielen sie vor ihm nieder zur Erde auf ihr Antlitz.(D) Gen 42:6 Ιωσηφ δὲ ἦν ἄρχων τῆς γῆς οὗτος ἐπώλει παντὶ τῷ λαῷ τῆς γῆς ἐλθόντες δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Ιωσηφ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν(lxx) Gen 42:6 Now Joseph was governor over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:7 ============ Gen 42:7 When Joseph saw his brothers he recognized them, but he disguised himself to them and spoke to them harshly. And he said to them, "Where have you come from?" And they said, "From the land of Canaan, to buy food."(nasb) Gen 42:7 et agnovisset eos, quasi ad alienos durius loquebatur, interrogans eos: Unde venistis? Qui responderunt: De terra Chanaan, ut emamus victui necessaria.(vulgate) Génesis 42:7 Y José como vio a sus hermanos, los reconoció; mas hizo como que no los conocía, y les habló ásperamente, y les dijo: ¿De dónde habéis venido? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán a comprar alimentos.(E) Genèse 42:7 Joseph vit ses frères et les reconnut; mais il feignit d'être un étranger pour eux, il leur parla durement, et leur dit: D'où venez-vous? Ils répondirent: Du pays de Canaan, pour acheter des vivres.(F) Gen 42:7 Und er sah sie an und kannte sie und stellte sich fremd gegen sie und redete hart mit ihnen und sprach zu ihnen: Woher kommt ihr? Sie sprachen: Aus dem Lande Kanaan, Speise zu kaufen.(D) Gen 42:7 ἰδὼν δὲ Ιωσηφ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐπέγνω καὶ ἠλλοτριοῦτο ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς σκληρὰ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς πόθεν ἥκατε οἱ δὲ εἶπαν ἐκ γῆς Χανααν ἀγοράσαι βρώματα(lxx) Gen 42:7 Joseph saw his brothers and recognized them, but he acted as a stranger to them and spoke roughly to them. Then he said to them, "Where do you come from?" And they said, "From the land of Canaan to buy food."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:8 ============ Gen 42:8 But Joseph had recognized his brothers, although they did not recognize him.(nasb) Gen 42:8 Et tamen fratres ipse cognoscens, non est cognitus ab eis.(vulgate) Génesis 42:8 José, pues, reconoció a sus hermanos; pero ellos no le reconocieron.(E) Genèse 42:8 Joseph reconnut ses frères, mais eux ne le reconnurent pas.(F) Gen 42:8 Aber wiewohl er sie kannte, kannten sie ihn doch nicht.(D) Gen 42:8 ἐπέγνω δὲ Ιωσηφ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ αὐτοὶ δὲ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν αὐτόν(lxx) Gen 42:8 So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:9 ============ Gen 42:9 Joseph remembered the dreams which he had about them, and said to them, "You are spies; you have come to look at the undefended parts of our land."(nasb) Gen 42:9 Recordatusque somniorum, quæ aliquando viderat, ait ad eos: Exploratores estis: ut videatis infirmiora terræ venistis.(vulgate) Génesis 42:9 Entonces se acordó José de los sueños que había tenido de ellos, y les dijo: Espías sois; por ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.(E) Genèse 42:9 Joseph se souvint des songes qu'il avait eus à leur sujet, et il leur dit: Vous êtes des espions; c'est pour observer les lieux faibles du pays que vous êtes venus.(F) Gen 42:9 Und Joseph gedachte an die Träume, die ihm von ihnen geträumt hatten, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid Kundschafter und seid gekommen zu sehen, wo das Land offen ist.(D) Gen 42:9 καὶ ἐμνήσθη Ιωσηφ τῶν ἐνυπνίων ὧν εἶδεν αὐτός καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς κατάσκοποί ἐστε κατανοῆσαι τὰ ἴχνη τῆς χώρας ἥκατε(lxx) Gen 42:9 Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, "You are spies! Par la vie de Pharaon! vous ne sortirez point d'ici que votre jeune frère ne soit venu.(F) Gen 42:15 Daran will ich euch prüfen; bei dem Leben Pharaos! ihr sollt nicht von dannen kommen, es komme denn her euer jüngster Bruder.(D) Gen 42:15 ἐν τούτῳ φανεῖσθε νὴ τὴν ὑγίειαν Φαραω οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθητε ἐντεῦθεν ἐὰν μὴ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν ὁ νεώτερος ἔλθῃ ὧδε(lxx) Gen 42:15 In this manner you shall be tested: By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:16 ============ Gen 42:16 Send one of you that he may get your brother, while you remain confined, that your words may be tested, whether there is truth in you. But if not, by the life of Pharaoh, surely you are spies."(nasb) Gen 42:16 Mittite ex vobis unum, et adducat eum: vos autem eritis in vinculis, donec probentur quæ dixistis utrum vera an falsa sint: alioquin per salutem Pharaonis exploratores estis.(vulgate) Génesis 42:16 Enviad uno de vosotros, y traiga a vuestro hermano; y vosotros quedad presos, y vuestras palabras serán probadas, si hay verdad en vosotros; y si no, vive Faraón, que sois espías.(E) Genèse 42:16 Envoyez l'un de vous pour chercher votre frère; et vous, restez prisonniers. Vos paroles seront éprouvées, et je saurai si la vérité est chez vous; sinon, par la vie de Pharaon! vous êtes des espions.(F) Gen 42:16 Sendet einen unter euch hin, der euren Bruder hole; ihr aber sollt gefangen sein. Also will ich prüfen eure Rede, ob ihr mit Wahrheit umgeht oder nicht. Denn wo nicht, so seid ihr, bei dem Leben Pharaos! Kundschafter.(D) Gen 42:16 ἀποστείλατε ἐξ ὑμῶν ἕνα καὶ λάβετε τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμῶν ὑμεῖς δὲ ἀπάχθητε ἕως τοῦ φανερὰ γενέσθαι τὰ ῥήματα ὑμῶν εἰ ἀληθεύετε ἢ οὔ εἰ δὲ μή νὴ τὴν ὑγίειαν Φαραω ἦ μὴν κατάσκοποί ἐστε(lxx) Gen 42:16 Send one of you, and let him bring your brother; and you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be tested to see whether there is any truth in you; or else, by the life of Pharaoh, surely you are spies!"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:17 ============ Gen 42:17 So he put them all together in prison for three days.(nasb) Gen 42:17 Tradidit ergo illos custodiæ tribus diebus.(vulgate) Génesis 42:17 Y los juntó en la cárcel por tres días.(E) Genèse 42:17 Et il les mit ensemble trois jours en prison.(F) Gen 42:17 Und er ließ sie beisammen verwahren drei Tage lang.(D) Gen 42:17 καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοὺς ἐν φυλακῇ ἡμέρας τρεῖς(lxx) Gen 42:17 So he put them all together in prison three days.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:18 ============ Gen 42:18 Now Joseph said to them on the third day, "Do this and live, for I fear God:(nasb) Gen 42:18 Die autem tertio eductis de carcere, ait: Facite quæ dixi, et vivetis: Deum enim timeo.(vulgate) Génesis 42:18 Y al tercer día les dijo José: Haced esto, y vivid: Yo temo a Dios:(E) Genèse 42:18 Le troisième jour, Joseph leur dit: Faites ceci, et vous vivrez. Je crains Dieu!(F) Gen 42:18 Am dritten Tage aber sprach er zu ihnen: Wollt ihr leben, so tut also; denn ich fürchte Gott.(D) Gen 42:18 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ τοῦτο ποιήσατε καὶ ζήσεσθε τὸν θεὸν γὰρ ἐγὼ φοβοῦμαι(lxx) Gen 42:18 Then Joseph said to them the third day, "Do this and live, for I fear God:(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:19 ============ Gen 42:19 if you are honest men, let one of your brothers be confined in your prison; but as for the rest of you, go, carry grain for the famine of your households,(nasb) Gen 42:19 Si pacifici estis, frater vester unus ligetur in carcere: vos autem abite, et ferte frumenta quæ emistis, in domos vestras,(vulgate) Génesis 42:19 Si sois hombres de verdad, quede preso en la casa de vuestra cárcel uno de vuestros hermanos; y vosotros id, llevad el alimento para el hambre de vuestras casas:(E) Genèse 42:19 Si vous êtes sincères, que l'un de vos frères reste enfermé dans votre prison; et vous, partez, emportez du blé pour nourrir vos familles,(F) Gen 42:19 Seid ihr redlich, so laßt eurer Brüder einen gebunden liegen in eurem Gefängnis; ihr aber zieht hin und bringet heim, was ihr gekauft habt für den Hunger.(D) Gen 42:19 εἰ εἰρηνικοί ἐστε ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν εἷς κατασχεθήτω ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ αὐτοὶ δὲ βαδίσατε καὶ ἀπαγάγετε τὸν ἀγορασμὸν τῆς σιτοδοσίας ὑμῶν(lxx) Gen 42:19 If you are honest men, let one of your brothers be confined to your prison house; but you, go and carry grain for the famine of your houses.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:20 ============ Gen 42:20 and bring your youngest brother to me, so your words may be verified, and you will not die." And they did so.(nasb) Gen 42:20 et fratrem vestrum minimum ad me adducite, ut possim vestros probare sermones, et non moriamini. Fecerunt ut dixerat,(vulgate) Génesis 42:20 Pero habéis de traerme a vuestro hermano menor, y serán verificadas vuestras palabras, y no moriréis. Y ellos lo hicieron así.(E) Genèse 42:20 et amenez-moi votre jeune frère, afin que vos paroles soient éprouvées et que vous ne mouriez point. Et ils firent ainsi.(F) Gen 42:20 Und bringt euren jüngsten Bruder zu mir, so will ich euren Worten glauben, daß ihr nicht sterben müßt. Und sie taten also.(D) Gen 42:20 καὶ τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμῶν τὸν νεώτερον ἀγάγετε πρός με καὶ πιστευθήσονται τὰ ῥήματα ὑμῶν εἰ δὲ μή ἀποθανεῖσθε ἐποίησαν δὲ οὕτως(lxx) Gen 42:20 And bring your youngest brother to me; so your words will be verified, and you shall not die." "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 42:35 ============ Gen 42:35 Now it came about as they were emptying their sacks, that behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack; and when they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were dismayed.(nasb) Gen 42:35 His dictis, cum frumenta effunderent, singuli repererunt in ore saccorum ligatas pecunias, exterritisque simul omnibus,(vulgate) Génesis 42:35 Y aconteció que vaciando ellos sus sacos, he aquí que en el saco de cada uno estaba el atado de su dinero, y viendo ellos y su padre los atados de su dinero, tuvieron temor.(E) Genèse 42:35 Lorsqu'ils vidèrent leurs sacs, voici, le paquet d'argent de chacun était dans son sac.
