And they contended with him vigorously.(nasb) Jdg 8:1 Dixeruntque ad eum viri Ephraim: Quid est hoc quod facere voluisti, ut nos non vocares, cum ad pugnam pergeres contra Madian? jurgantes fortiter, et prope vim inferentes.(vulgate) Jueces 8:1 Y los de Efraín le dijeron: ¿Qué [es] esto que has hecho con nosotros, no llamándonos cuando ibas a la guerra contra Madián? Y lo regañaron fuertemente.(E) Juges 8:1 Les hommes d'Ephraïm dirent à Gédéon: Que signifie cette manière d'agir envers nous? pourquoi ne pas nous avoir appelés, quand tu es allé combattre Madian? Et ils eurent avec lui une violente querelle.(F) Jdg 8:1 Und die Männer von Ephraim sprachen zu ihm: Warum hast du uns das getan, daß du uns nicht riefst, da du in den Streit zogst wider die Midianiter? Und zankten mit ihm heftig.(D) Jdg 8:1 καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Γεδεων ἀνὴρ Εφραιμ τί τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν τοῦ μὴ καλέσαι ἡμᾶς ὅτε ἐπορεύθης παρατάξασθαι ἐν Μαδιαμ καὶ διελέξαντο πρὸς αὐτὸν ἰσχυρῶς(lxx) Jdg 8:1 Now the men of Ephraim said to him, "Why have you done this to us by not calling us when you went to fight with the Midianites?" And they reprimanded him sharply.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:2 ============ Jdg 8:2 But he said to them, "What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?(nasb) Jdg 8:2 Quibus ille respondit: Quod enim tale facere potui, quale vos fecistis? nonne melior est racemus Ephraim, vindemiis Abiezer?(vulgate) Jueces 8:2 Y él les respondió: ¿Qué he hecho yo ahora en comparación con vosotros? ¿No [es] el rebusco de Efraín mejor que la vendimia de Abiezer?(E) Juges 8:2 Gédéon leur répondit: Qu'ai-je fait en comparaison de vous? Le grappillage d'Ephraïm ne vaut-il pas mieux que la vendange d'Abiézer?(F) Jdg 8:2 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Was habe ich jetzt getan, das eurer Tat gleich sei? Ist nicht die Nachlese Ephraims besser denn die ganze Weinernte Abiesers?(D) Jdg 8:2 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς τί ἐποίησα νῦν καθὼς ὑμεῖς ἢ οὐχὶ κρεῖσσον ἐπιφυλλὶς Εφραιμ ἢ τρυγητὸς Αβιεζερ(lxx) Jdg 8:2 So he said to them, "What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:3 ============ Jdg 8:3 God has given the leaders of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb into your hands; and what was I able to do in comparison with you?" Then their anger toward him subsided when he said that.(nasb) Jdg 8:3 In manus vestras Dominus tradidit principes Madian, Oreb et Zeb: quid tale facere potui, quale vos fecistis? Quod cum locutus esset, requievit spiritus eorum, quo tumebant contra eum.~(vulgate) Jueces 8:3 Dios ha entregado en vuestras manos a Oreb y a Zeeb, príncipes de Madián: ¿y qué pude hacer yo en comparación con vosotros? Entonces el enojo de ellos contra él se aplacó, luego que él habló esta palabra.(E) Juges 8:3 C'est entre vos mains que Dieu a livré les chefs de Madian, Oreb et Zeeb. Da er solches redete, ließ ihr Zorn von ihm ab.(D) Jdg 8:3 ἐν χειρὶ ὑμῶν παρέδωκεν κύριος τοὺς ἄρχοντας Μαδιαμ τὸν Ωρηβ καὶ τὸν Ζηβ καὶ τί ἠδυνήθην ποιῆσαι ὡς ὑμεῖς τότε ἀνέθη τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῶν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ λαλῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν λόγον τοῦτον(lxx) Jdg 8:3 God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. And what was I able to do in comparison with you?" Then their anger toward him subsided when he said that.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:4 ============ Jdg 8:4 Then Gideon and the 300 men who were with him came to the Jordan and crossed over, weary yet pursuing.(nasb) Jdg 8:4 Cumque venisset Gedeon ad Jordanem, transivit eum cum trecentis viris, qui secum erant: et præ lassitudine, fugientes persequi non poterant.(vulgate) Jueces 8:4 Y vino Gedeón al Jordán para pasar, él y los trescientos hombres que traía consigo, cansados, pero todavía persiguiendo.(E) Juges 8:4 Gédéon arriva au Jourdain, et il le passa, lui et les trois cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, fatigués, mais poursuivant toujours.(F) Jdg 8:4 Da nun Gideon an den Jordan kam, ging er hinüber mit den dreihundert Mann, die bei ihm waren; die waren müde und jagten nach.(D) Jdg 8:4 καὶ ἦλθεν Γεδεων ἐπὶ τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ διέβη αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ τριακόσιοι ἄνδρες οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ πεινῶντες καὶ διώκοντες(lxx) Jdg 8:4 When Gideon came to the Jordan, he and the three hundred men who were with him crossed over, exhausted but still in pursuit.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:5 ============ Jdg 8:5 He said to the men of Succoth, "Please give loaves of bread to the people who are following me, for they are weary, and I am pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian."(nasb) Jdg 8:5 Dixitque ad viros Soccoth: Date, obsecro, panes populo qui mecum est, quia valde defecerunt: ut possimus persequi Zebee et Salmana reges Madian.(vulgate) Jueces 8:5 Y dijo a los de Sucot: Yo os ruego que deis a la gente que me sigue algunos bocados de pan; porque [están] cansados, y yo persigo a Zeba y a Zalmuna, reyes de Madián.(E) Juges 8:5 Il dit aux gens de Succoth: Donnez, je vous prie, quelques pains au peuple qui m'accompagne, car ils sont fatigués, et je suis à la poursuite de Zébach et de Tsalmunna, rois de Madian.(F) Jdg 8:5 Und er sprach zu den Leuten von Sukkoth: Gebt doch dem Volk, das unter mir ist, etliche Brote; denn sie sind müde, daß ich nachjagte den Königen der Mididaniter, Sebah und Zalmuna.(D) Jdg 8:5 καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς ἀνδράσιν Σοκχωθ δότε δὴ ἄρτους εἰς τροφὴν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ τῷ ἐν ποσίν μου ὅτι ἐκλείπουσιν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι διώκων ὀπίσω τοῦ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα βασιλέων Μαδιαμ(lxx) Jdg 8:5 Then he said to the men of Succoth, "Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me, for they are exhausted, and I am pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian."(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:6 ============ Jdg 8:6 The leaders of Succoth said, "Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hands, that we should give bread to your army?"(nasb) Jdg 8:6 Responderunt principes Soccoth: Forsitan palmæ manuum Zebee et Salmana in manu tua sunt, et idcirco postulas ut demus exercitui tuo panes.(vulgate) Jueces 8:6 Y los principales de Sucot respondieron: ¿[Está] ya la mano de Zeba y Zalmuna en tu mano, para que tengamos que dar pan a tu ejército?(E) Juges 8:6 Les chefs de Succoth répondirent: La main de Zébach et de Tsalmunna est-elle déjà en ton pouvoir, pour que nous donnions du pain à ton armée?(F) Jdg 8:6 Aber die Obersten zu Sukkoth sprachen: Sind die Fäuste Sebahs und Zalmunas schon in deinen Händen, daß wir deinem Heer sollen Brot geben?(D) Jdg 8:6 καὶ εἶπον οἱ ἄρχοντες Σοκχωθ μὴ χεὶρ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα νῦν ἐν χειρί σου οὐ δώσομεν τῇ δυνάμει σου ἄρτους(lxx) Jdg 8:6 And the leaders of Succoth said, "Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your army?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:7 ============ Jdg 8:7 Gideon said, "All right, when the Lord has given Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will thrash your bodies with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers."(nasb) Jdg 8:7 Quibus ille ait: Cum ergo tradiderit Dominus Zebee et Salmana in manus meas, conteram carnes vestras cum spinis tribulisque deserti.(vulgate) Jueces 8:7 Y Gedeón dijo: Pues cuando Jehová hubiere entregado en mi mano a Zeba y a Zalmuna, yo trillaré vuestra carne con espinas y abrojos del desierto.(E) Juges 8:7 Et Gédéon dit: Eh bien! lorsque l'Eternel aura livré entre mes mains Zébach et Tsalmunna, je broierai votre chair avec des épines du désert et avec des chardons.(F) Jdg 8:7 Gideon sprach: Wohlan, wenn der HERR Sebah und Zalmuna in meine Hand gibt, will ich euer Fleisch mit Dornen aus der Wüste und mit Hecken zerdreschen.(D) Jdg 8:7 καὶ εἶπεν Γεδεων διὰ τοῦτο ἐν τῷ δοῦναι κύριον τὸν Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἐν χειρί μου καὶ ἐγὼ ἀλοήσω τὰς σάρκας ὑμῶν ἐν ταῖς ἀκάνθαις τῆς ἐρήμου καὶ ἐν ταῖς αβαρκηνιν(lxx) Jdg 8:7 So Gideon said, "For this cause, when the Lord has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers!"(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:8 ============ Jdg 8:8 He went up from there to Penuel and spoke similarly to them; and the men of Penuel answered him just as the men of Succoth had answered.(nasb) Jdg 8:8 Et inde conscendens, venit in Phanuel: locutusque est ad viros loci illius similia. Cui et illi responderunt, sicut responderant viri Soccoth.(vulgate) Jueces 8:8 Y de allí subió a Peniel, y les habló las mismas palabras. Y los de Peniel le respondieron como habían respondido los de Sucot.(E) Juges 8:8 De là il monta à Penuel, et il fit aux gens de Penuel la même demande. Ils lui répondirent comme avaient répondu ceux de Succoth.(F) Jdg 8:8 Und er zog von da hinauf gen Pnuel und redete auch also zu ihnen. Und die Leute zu Pnuel antworteten ihm gleich wie die zu Sukkoth.(D) Jdg 8:8 καὶ ἀνέβη ἐκεῖθεν εἰς Φανουηλ καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὡσαύτως καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ ἄνδρες Φανουηλ ὃν τρόπον ἀπεκρίθησαν ἄνδρες Σοκχωθ(lxx) Jdg 8:8 Then he went up from there to Penuel and spoke to them in the same way. And the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:9 ============ Jdg 8:9 So he spoke also to the men of Penuel, saying, "When I return safely, I will tear down this tower."(nasb) Jdg 8:9 Dixit itaque et eis: Cum reversus fuero victor in pace, destruam turrim hanc.~(vulgate) Jueces 8:9 Y él habló también a los de Peniel, diciendo: Cuando yo tornare en paz, derribaré esta torre.(E) Juges 8:9 Et il dit aussi aux gens de Penuel: Quand je reviendrai en paix, je renverserai cette tour.(F) Jdg 8:9 Und er sprach auch zu den Leuten zu Pnuel: Komme ich mit Frieden wieder, so will ich diesen Turm zerbrechen.(D) Jdg 8:9 καὶ εἶπεν Γεδεων πρὸς ἄνδρας Φανουηλ ἐν ἐπιστροφῇ μου μετ᾽ εἰρήνης τὸν πύργον τοῦτον κατασκάψω(lxx) Jdg 8:9 So he also spoke to the men of Penuel, saying, "When I come back in peace, I will tear down this tower!"(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:10 ============ Jdg 8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their armies with them, about 15,000 men, all who were left of the entire army of the sons of the east; for the fallen were 120,000 swordsmen.(nasb) Jdg 8:10 Zebee autem et Salmana requiescebant cum omni exercitu suo. Quindecim enim millia viri remanserant ex omnibus turmis orientalium populorum, cæsis centum viginti millibus bellatorum educentium gladium.(vulgate) Jueces 8:10 Y Zeba y Zalmuna [estaban] en Carcor, y con ellos su ejército de como quince mil [hombres], todos los que habían quedado de todo el campamento de los orientales; y los muertos habían sido ciento veinte mil hombres que sacaban espada.(E) Juges 8:10 Zébach et Tsalmunna étaient à Karkor et leur armée avec eux, environ quinze mille hommes, tous ceux qui étaient restés de l'armée entière des fils de l'Orient; cent vingt mille hommes tirant l'épée avaient été tués.(F) Jdg 8:10 Sebah aber und Zalmuna waren zu Karkor und ihr Heer mit ihnen, bei fünfzehntausend, alle, die übriggeblieben waren vom ganzen Heer derer aus Morgenland; denn hundertzwanzigtausend waren gefallen, die das Schwert ausziehen konnten.(D) Jdg 8:10 καὶ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἐν Καρκαρ καὶ ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτῶν μετ᾽ αὐτῶν ὡσεὶ δέκα πέντε χιλιάδες πάντες οἱ καταλελειμμένοι ἀπὸ πάσης παρεμβολῆς ἀλλοφύλων καὶ οἱ πεπτωκότες ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν σπωμένων ῥομφαίαν(lxx) Jdg 8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were at Karkor, and their armies with them, about fifteen thousand, all who were left of all the army of the people of the East; for one hundred and twenty thousand men who drew the sword had fallen.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:11 ============ Jdg 8:11 Gideon went up by the way of those who lived in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and attacked the camp when the camp was unsuspecting.(nasb) Jdg 8:11 Ascendensque Gedeon per viam eorum, qui in tabernaculis morabantur, ad orientalem partem Nobe et Jegbaa, percussit castra hostium, qui securi erant, et nihil adversi suspicabantur.(vulgate) Jueces 8:11 Y subiendo Gedeón hacia los que habitaban en tiendas, a la parte oriental de Noba y de Jogbeha, hirió el campamento, porque el ejército estaba seguro.(E) Juges 8:11 Gédéon monta par le chemin de ceux qui habitent sous les tentes, à l'orient de Nobach et de Jogbeha, et il battit l'armée qui se croyait en sûreté.(F) Jdg 8:11 Und Gideon zog hinauf auf der Straße derer, die in Hütten wohnten, gegen Morgen von Nobah und Jogbeha, und schlug das Heer, denn das Heer war sicher.(D) Jdg 8:11 καὶ ἀνέβη Γεδεων ὁδὸν τῶν σκηνούντων ἐν σκηναῖς ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν τῆς Ναβαι καὶ Ιεγεβαλ καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὴν παρεμβολήν καὶ ἡ παρεμβολὴ ἦν πεποιθυῖα(lxx) Jdg 8:11 Then Gideon went up by the road of those who dwell in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah; and he attacked the army while the camp felt secure.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:12 ============ Jdg 8:12 When Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued them and captured the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and routed the whole army.(nasb) Jdg 8:12 Fugeruntque Zebee et Salmana, quos persequens Gedeon comprehendit, turbato omni exercitu eorum.(vulgate) Jueces 8:12 Y huyendo Zeba y Zalmuna, él los siguió; y capturó a los dos reyes de Madián, Zeba y Zalmuna, y atemorizó a todo el ejército.(E) Juges 8:12 Zébach et Tsalmunna prirent la fuite; Gédéon les poursuivit, il s'empara des deux rois de Madian, Zébach et Tsalmunna, et il mit en déroute toute l'armée.(F) Jdg 8:12 Und Sebah und Zalmuna flohen; aber er jagte ihnen nach und fing die zwei Könige der Midianiter, Sebah und Zalmuna, und schreckte das ganze Heer.(D) Jdg 8:12 καὶ ἔφυγον Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα καὶ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκράτησεν τοὺς δύο βασιλεῖς Μαδιαμ τὸν Ζεβεε καὶ τὸν Σελμανα καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν παρεμβολὴν ἐξέστησεν(lxx) Jdg 8:12 When Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued them; and he took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and routed the whole army.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:13 ============ Jdg 8:13 Then Gideon the son of Joash returned from the battle by the ascent of Heres.(nasb) Jdg 8:13 Revertensque de bello ante solis ortum,(vulgate) Jueces 8:13 Y Gedeón hijo de Joás volvió de la batalla antes que el sol [subiera];(E) Juges 8:13 Gédéon, fils de Joas, revint de la bataille par la montée de Hérès.(F) Jdg 8:13 Da nun Gideon, der Sohn Joas, wiederkam vom Streit, ehe die Sonne heraufgekommen war,(D) Jdg 8:13 καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Γεδεων υἱὸς Ιωας ἀπὸ τῆς παρατάξεως ἀπὸ ἐπάνωθεν τῆς παρατάξεως Αρες(lxx) Jdg 8:13 Then Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle, from the Ascent of Heres.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:14 ============ Jdg 8:14 And he captured a youth from Succoth and questioned him. Then the youth wrote down for him the princes of Succoth and its elders, seventy-seven men.(nasb) Jdg 8:14 apprehendit puerum de viris Soccoth: interrogavitque eum nomina principum et seniorum Soccoth, et descripsit septuaginta septem viros.(vulgate) Jueces 8:14 y tomó un joven de los de Sucot, y preguntándole, él le dio por escrito los principales de Sucot y sus ancianos, setenta y siete varones.(E) Juges 8:14 Il saisit d'entre les gens de Succoth un jeune homme qu'il interrogea, et qui lui mit par écrit les noms des chefs et des anciens de Succoth, soixante-dix-sept hommes.(F) Jdg 8:14 fing er einen Knaben aus den Leuten zu Sukkoth und fragte ihn; der schrieb ihm auf die Obersten zu Sukkoth und ihre Ältesten, siebenundsiebzig Mann.(D) Jdg 8:14 καὶ συνέλαβεν παιδάριον ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνδρῶν Σοκχωθ καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτόν καὶ ἔγραψεν πρὸς αὐτὸν τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἀρχόντων Σοκχωθ καὶ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων αὐτῶν ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ ἑπτὰ ἄνδρας(lxx) Jdg 8:14 And he caught a young man of the men of Succoth and interrogated him; and he wrote down for him the leaders of Succoth and its elders, seventy-seven men.(nkjv) ======= Judges 8:15 ============ Jdg 8:15 He came to the men of Succoth and said, "Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom you taunted me, saying, 'Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are weary?'"(nasb) Jdg 8:15 Venitque ad Soccoth, et dixit eis: En Zebee et Salmana, super quibus exprobrastis mihi, dicentes: Forsitan manus Zebee et Salmana in manibus tuis sunt, et idcirco postulas ut demus viris, qui lassi sunt et defecerunt, panes.(vulgate) Jueces 8:15 Y entrando a los de Sucot, dijo: He aquí a Zeba y a Zalmuna, sobre los cuales me injuriasteis, diciendo: ¿[Está] ya la mano de Zeba y de Zalmuna en tu mano, para que demos nosotros pan a tus hombres cansados?(E) Juges 8:15 Puis il vint auprès des gens de Succoth, et dit: Voici Zébach et Tsalmunna, au sujet desquels vous m'avez insulté, en disant: La main de Zébach et de Tsalmunna est-elle déjà en ton pouvoir, pour que nous donnions du pain à tes hommes fatigués?(F) Jdg 8:15 Und er kam zu den Leuten zu Sukkoth und sprach: Siehe, hier ist Sebah und Zalmuna, über welchen ihr mein spottetet und spracht: Ist denn Sebahs und Zalmunas Faust schon in deinen Händen, daß wir deinen Leuten, die müde sind, Brot geben sollen?(D) Jdg 8:15 καὶ παρεγένετο Γεδεων πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας Σοκχωθ καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἐν οἷς ὠνειδίσατέ με λέγοντες μὴ χεὶρ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα νῦν ἐν χειρί σου ὅτι δώσομεν τοῖς ἀνδράσιν τοῖς ἐκλείπουσιν ἄρτους(lxx) Jdg 8:15 Then he came to the men of Succoth and said, "Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you ridiculed me, saying, 'Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your weary men?'
