Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons."(nasb) 1Sa 16:1 Dixitque Dominus ad Samuelem: Usquequo tu luges Saul, cum ego projecerim eum ne regnet super Israël? Imple cornu tuum oleo, et veni, ut mittam te ad Isai Bethlehemitem: providi enim in filiis ejus mihi regem.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:1 Y Jehová dijo a Samuel: ¿Hasta cuándo has tú de llorar por Saúl, habiéndolo yo desechado para que no reine sobre Israel? Llena tu cuerno de aceite, y ven; yo te enviaré a Isaí, de Belén; porque de sus hijos me he provisto de rey.(E) 1 Samuel 16:1 L'Eternel dit à Samuel: Quand cesseras-tu de pleurer sur Saül? Je l'ai rejeté, afin qu'il ne règne plus sur Israël. Remplis ta corne d'huile, et va; je t'enverrai chez Isaï, Bethléhémite, car j'ai vu parmi ses fils celui que je désire pour roi.(F) 1Sa 16:1 Und der HERR sprach zu Samuel: Wie lange trägst du Leid um Saul, den ich verworfen habe, daß er nicht König sei über Israel? Fülle dein Horn mit Öl und gehe hin: ich will dich senden zu dem Bethlehemiter Isai; denn unter seinen Söhnen habe ich mir einen König ersehen.(D) 1Sa 16:1 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Σαμουηλ ἕως πότε σὺ πενθεῖς ἐπὶ Σαουλ κἀγὼ ἐξουδένωκα αὐτὸν μὴ βασιλεύειν ἐπὶ Ισραηλ πλῆσον τὸ κέρας σου ἐλαίου καὶ δεῦρο ἀποστείλω σε πρὸς Ιεσσαι ἕως εἰς Βηθλεεμ ὅτι ἑόρακα ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐμοὶ βασιλεύειν(lxx) 1Sa 16:1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:2 ============ 1Sa 16:2 But Samuel said, "How can I go? When Saul hears of it, he will kill me." And the Lord said, "Take a heifer with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.'(nasb) 1Sa 16:2 Et ait Samuel: Quomodo vadam? audiet enim Saul, et interficiet me. Et ait Dominus: Vitulum de armento tolles in manu tua, et dices: Ad immolandum Domino veni.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:2 Y dijo Samuel: ¿Cómo iré? Si Saúl lo entendiere, me matará. Jehová respondió: Toma contigo una becerra de la vacada, y di: He venido para ofrecer sacrificio a Jehová.(E) 1 Samuel 16:2 Samuel dit: Comment irai-je? Saül l'apprendra, et il me tuera. Der HERR sprach: Nimm ein Kalb von den Rindern zu dir und sprich: Ich bin gekommen, dem HERRN zu opfern.(D) 1Sa 16:2 καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ πῶς πορευθῶ καὶ ἀκούσεται Σαουλ καὶ ἀποκτενεῖ με καὶ εἶπεν κύριος δάμαλιν βοῶν λαβὲ ἐν τῇ χειρί σου καὶ ἐρεῖς θῦσαι τῷ κυρίῳ ἥκω(lxx) 1Sa 16:2 And Samuel said, "How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me." And the Lord said, "Take a heifer with you, and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.'(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:3 ============ 1Sa 16:3 You shall invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; and you shall anoint for Me the one whom I designate to you."(nasb) 1Sa 16:3 Et vocabis Isai ad victimam, et ego ostendam tibi quid facias, et unges quemcumque monstravero tibi.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:3 Y llama a Isaí al sacrificio, y yo te enseñaré lo que has de hacer; y me ungirás al que yo te diga.(E) 1 Samuel 16:3 Tu inviteras Isaï au sacrifice; je te ferai connaître ce que tu dois faire, et tu oindras pour moi celui que je te dirai.(F) 1Sa 16:3 Und sollst Isai zum Opfer laden; da will ich dir weisen, was du tun sollst, daß du mir salbest, welchen ich dir sagen werde.(D) 1Sa 16:3 καὶ καλέσεις τὸν Ιεσσαι εἰς τὴν θυσίαν καὶ γνωριῶ σοι ἃ ποιήσεις καὶ χρίσεις ὃν ἐὰν εἴπω πρὸς σέ(lxx) 1Sa 16:3 Then invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; you shall anoint for Me the one I name to you."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:4 ============ 1Sa 16:4 So Samuel did what the Lord said, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him and said, "Do you come in peace?"(nasb) 1Sa 16:4 Fecit ergo Samuel sicut locutus est ei Dominus. Venitque in Bethlehem, et admirati sunt seniores civitatis occurrentes ei: dixeruntque: Pacificusne est ingressus tuus?(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:4 Hizo, pues, Samuel como le dijo Jehová: y luego que él llegó a Belén, los ancianos de la ciudad salieron a recibirle con miedo, y dijeron: ¿Es pacífica tu venida?(E) 1 Samuel 16:4 Samuel fit ce que l'Eternel avait dit, et il alla à Bethléhem. Les anciens de la ville accoururent effrayés au-devant de lui et dirent: Ton arrivée annonce-t-elle quelque chose d'heureux?(F) 1Sa 16:4 Samuel tat, wie ihm der HERR gesagt hatte, und kam gen Bethlehem. Da entsetzten sich die Ältesten der Stadt und gingen ihm entgegen und sprachen: Ist's Friede, daß du kommst?(D) 1Sa 16:4 καὶ ἐποίησεν Σαμουηλ πάντα ἃ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ κύριος καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς Βηθλεεμ καὶ ἐξέστησαν οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τῆς πόλεως τῇ ἀπαντήσει αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν εἰρήνη ἡ εἴσοδός σου ὁ βλέπων(lxx) 1Sa 16:4 So Samuel did what the Lord said, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, "Do you come peaceably?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:5 ============ 1Sa 16:5 He said, "In peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice." He also consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.(nasb) 1Sa 16:5 Et ait: Pacificus: ad immolandum Domino veni: sanctificamini, et venite mecum ut immolem. Sanctificavit ergo Isai et filios ejus, et vocavit eos ad sacrificium.~(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:5 Y él respondió: Sí, vengo a ofrecer sacrificio a Jehová; santificaos, y venid conmigo al sacrificio. Y santificando él a Isaí y a sus hijos, los llamó al sacrificio.(E) 1 Samuel 16:5 Il répondit: Oui; je viens pour offrir un sacrifice à l'Eternel. Sanctifiez-vous, et venez avec moi au sacrifice. Il fit aussi sanctifier Isaï et ses fils, et il les invita au sacrifice.(F) 1Sa 16:5 Er sprach: Ja, ich bin gekommen, dem HERRN zu opfern; heiligt euch und kommt zu mir zum Opfer. Und er heiligte Isai und seine Söhne und lud sie zum Opfer.(D) 1Sa 16:5 καὶ εἶπεν εἰρήνη θῦσαι τῷ κυρίῳ ἥκω ἁγιάσθητε καὶ εὐφράνθητε μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ σήμερον καὶ ἡγίασεν τὸν Ιεσσαι καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν θυσίαν(lxx) 1Sa 16:5 And he said, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice." Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:6 ============ 1Sa 16:6 When they entered, he looked at Eliab and thought, "Surely the Lord's anointed is before Him."(nasb) 1Sa 16:6 Cumque ingressi essent, vidit Eliab, et ait: Num coram Domino est christus ejus?(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:6 Y aconteció que cuando ellos vinieron, él vio a Eliab, y dijo: De cierto delante de Jehová [está] su ungido.(E) 1 Samuel 16:6 Lorsqu'ils entrèrent, il se dit, en voyant Eliab: Certainement, l'oint de l'Eternel est ici devant lui.(F) 1Sa 16:6 Da sie nun hereinkamen, sah er den Eliab an und gedachte, der sei vor dem HERRN sein Gesalbter.(D) 1Sa 16:6 καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τῷ αὐτοὺς εἰσιέναι καὶ εἶδεν τὸν Ελιαβ καὶ εἶπεν ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐνώπιον κυρίου χριστὸς αὐτοῦ(lxx) 1Sa 16:6 So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, "Surely the Lord's anointed is before Him."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:7 ============ 1Sa 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."(nasb) 1Sa 16:7 Et dixit Dominus ad Samuelem: Ne respicias vultum ejus, neque altitudinem staturæ ejus: quoniam abjeci eum, nec juxta intuitum hominis ego judico: homo enim videt ea quæ parent, Dominus autem intuetur cor.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:7 Y Jehová respondió a Samuel: No mires a su parecer, ni a lo grande de su estatura, porque yo lo he rechazado; porque [Jehová] no [mira] lo que mira el hombre; porque el hombre mira lo que está delante de sus ojos, pero Jehová mira el corazón.(E) 1 Samuel 16:7 Et l'Eternel dit à Samuel: Ne prends point garde à son apparence et à la hauteur de sa taille, car je l'ai rejeté. L'Eternel ne considère pas ce que l'homme considère; l'homme regarde à ce qui frappe les yeux, mais l'Eternel regarde au coeur.(F) 1Sa 16:7 Aber der HERR sprach zu Samuel: Sieh nicht an seine Gestalt noch seine große Person; ich habe ihn verworfen. Denn es geht nicht, wie ein Mensch sieht: ein Mensch sieht, was vor Augen ist; der HERR aber sieht das Herz an.(D) 1Sa 16:7 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Σαμουηλ μὴ ἐπιβλέψῃς ἐπὶ τὴν ὄψιν αὐτοῦ μηδὲ εἰς τὴν ἕξιν μεγέθους αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐξουδένωκα αὐτόν ὅτι οὐχ ὡς ἐμβλέψεται ἄνθρωπος ὄψεται ὁ θεός ὅτι ἄνθρωπος ὄψεται εἰς πρόσωπον ὁ δὲ θεὸς ὄψεται εἰς καρδίαν(lxx) 1Sa 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:8 ============ 1Sa 16:8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "The Lord has not chosen this one either."(nasb) 1Sa 16:8 Et vocavit Isai Abinadab, et adduxit eum coram Samuele. Qui dixit: Nec hunc elegit Dominus.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:8 Entonces llamó Isaí a Abinadab, y le hizo pasar delante de Samuel, el cual dijo: Ni a éste ha elegido Jehová.(E) 1 Samuel 16:8 Isaï appela Abinadab, et le fit passer devant Samuel; et Samuel dit: L'Eternel n'a pas non plus choisi celui-ci.(F) 1Sa 16:8 Da rief Isai den Abinadab und ließ ihn an Samuel vorübergehen. Und er sprach: Diesen hat der HERR auch nicht erwählt.(D) 1Sa 16:8 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ιεσσαι τὸν Αμιναδαβ καὶ παρῆλθεν κατὰ πρόσωπον Σαμουηλ καὶ εἶπεν οὐδὲ τοῦτον ἐξελέξατο κύριος(lxx) 1Sa 16:8 So Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "Neither has the Lord chosen this one."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:9 ============ 1Sa 16:9 Next Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, "The Lord has not chosen this one either."(nasb) 1Sa 16:9 Adduxit autem Isai Samma, de quo ait: Etiam hunc non elegit Dominus.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:9 Hizo luego pasar Isaí a Sama. And Samuel said to Jesse, "The Lord has not chosen these."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:11 ============ 1Sa 16:11 And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are these all the children?" And he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep." Then Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here."(nasb) 1Sa 16:11 Dixitque Samuel ad Isai: Numquid jam completi sunt filii? Qui respondit: Adhuc reliquus est parvulus, et pascit oves. Et ait Samuel ad Isai: Mitte, et adduc eum: nec enim discumbemus priusquam huc ille veniat.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:11 Entonces dijo Samuel a Isaí: ¿Están aquí todos [tus] hijos? Y él respondió: Aún queda el menor, que apacienta las ovejas. Y dijo Samuel a Isaí: Envía por él, porque no nos sentaremos [a la mesa] hasta que él venga aquí.(E) 1 Samuel 16:11 Puis Samuel dit à Isaï: Sont-ce là tous tes fils? Et il répondit: Il reste encore le plus jeune, mais il fait paître les brebis. Alors Samuel dit à Isaï: Envoie-le chercher, car nous ne nous placerons pas avant qu'il ne soit venu ici.(F) 1Sa 16:11 Und Samuel sprach zu Isai: Sind das die Knaben alle? Er aber sprach: Es ist noch übrig der jüngste; und siehe, er hütet die Schafe. Da sprach Samuel zu Isai; Sende hin und laß ihn holen; denn wir werden uns nicht setzen, bis er hierherkomme.(D) 1Sa 16:11 καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς Ιεσσαι ἐκλελοίπασιν τὰ παιδάρια καὶ εἶπεν ἔτι ὁ μικρὸς ἰδοὺ ποιμαίνει ἐν τῷ ποιμνίῳ καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς Ιεσσαι ἀπόστειλον καὶ λαβὲ αὐτόν ὅτι οὐ μὴ κατακλιθῶμεν ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν αὐτόν(lxx) 1Sa 16:11 And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all the young men here?" Then he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep." And Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:12 ============ 1Sa 16:12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is he."(nasb) 1Sa 16:12 Misit ergo, et adduxit eum. Erat autem rufus, et pulcher aspectu, decoraque facie: et ait Dominus: Surge, unge eum: ipse est enim.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:12 Envió, pues, por él, y lo hizo entrar; el cual [era] rubio, de hermoso parecer y de bello aspecto. Entonces Jehová dijo: Levántate y úngelo, porque éste [es].(E) 1 Samuel 16:12 Isaï l'envoya chercher. Or il était blond, avec de beaux yeux et une belle figure. L'Eternel dit à Samuel: Lève-toi, oins-le, car c'est lui!(F) 1Sa 16:12 Da sandte er hin und ließ ihn holen. Und er war bräunlich, mit schönen Augen und guter Gestalt. Und der HERR sprach: Auf! und salbe ihn; denn der ist's.(D) 1Sa 16:12 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτόν καὶ οὗτος πυρράκης μετὰ κάλλους ὀφθαλμῶν καὶ ἀγαθὸς ὁράσει κυρίῳ καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Σαμουηλ ἀνάστα καὶ χρῖσον τὸν Δαυιδ ὅτι οὗτος ἀγαθός ἐστιν(lxx) 1Sa 16:12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:13 ============ 1Sa 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.(nasb) 1Sa 16:13 Tulit ergo Samuel cornu olei, et unxit eum in medio fratrum ejus: et directus est spiritus Domini a die illa in David, et deinceps. Surgensque Samuel abiit in Ramatha.~(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:13 Y Samuel tomó el cuerno del aceite, y lo ungió de entre sus hermanos; y desde aquel día en adelante el Espíritu de Jehová vino sobre David. Se levantó luego Samuel, y se volvió a Ramá.(E) 1 Samuel 16:13 Samuel prit la corne d'huile, et l'oignit au milieu de ses frères. L'esprit de l'Eternel saisit David, à partir de ce jour et dans la suite. Samuel se leva, et s'en alla à Rama.(F) 1Sa 16:13 Da nahm Samuel sein Ölhorn und salbte ihn mitten unter seinen Brüdern. Und der Geist des HERRN geriet über David von dem Tage an und fürder. Samuel aber machte sich auf und ging gen Rama.(D) 1Sa 16:13 καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαμουηλ τὸ κέρας τοῦ ἐλαίου καὶ ἔχρισεν αὐτὸν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐφήλατο πνεῦμα κυρίου ἐπὶ Δαυιδ ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης καὶ ἐπάνω καὶ ἀνέστη Σαμουηλ καὶ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς Αρμαθαιμ(lxx) 1Sa 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:14 ============ 1Sa 16:14 Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord terrorized him.(nasb) 1Sa 16:14 Spiritus autem Domini recessit a Saul, et exagitabat eum spiritus nequam a Domino.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:14 Y el Espíritu de Jehová se apartó de Saúl, y le atormentaba un espíritu malo de parte de Jehová.(E) 1 Samuel 16:14 L'esprit de l'Eternel se retira de Saül, qui fut agité par un mauvais esprit venant de l'Eternel.(F) 1Sa 16:14 Und der Geist des HERRN wich von Saul, und ein böser Geist vom HERRN machte ihn unruhig.(D) 1Sa 16:14 καὶ πνεῦμα κυρίου ἀπέστη ἀπὸ Σαουλ καὶ ἔπνιγεν αὐτὸν πνεῦμα πονηρὸν παρὰ κυρίου(lxx) 1Sa 16:14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:15 ============ 1Sa 16:15 Saul's servants then said to him, "Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrorizing you.(nasb) 1Sa 16:15 Dixeruntque servi Saul ad eum: Ecce spiritus Dei malus exagitat te.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 16:15 Y los criados de Saúl le dijeron: He aquí ahora, que el espíritu malo de parte de Dios te atormenta.(E) 1 Samuel 16:15 Les serviteurs de Saül lui dirent: Voici, un mauvais esprit de Dieu t'agite.(F) 1Sa 16:15 Da sprachen die Knechte Sauls zu ihm: Siehe, ein böser Geist von Gott macht dich sehr unruhig;(D) 1Sa 16:15 καὶ εἶπαν οἱ παῖδες Σαουλ πρὸς αὐτόν ἰδοὺ δὴ πνεῦμα κυρίου πονηρὸν πνίγει σε(lxx) 1Sa 16:15 And Saul's servants said to him, "Surely, a distressing spirit from God is troubling you.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 16:16 ============ 1Sa 16:16 Let our lord now command your servants who are before you.
