And what is my sin before your father, that he is seeking my life?"(nasb) 1Sa 20:1 Fugit autem David de Najoth, quæ est in Ramatha, veniensque locutus est coram Jonatha: Quid feci? quæ est iniquitas mea, et quod peccatum meum in patrem tuum, quia quærit animam meam?(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:1 Y David huyó de Naiot en Ramá, y vino delante de Jonatán, y dijo: ¿Qué he hecho yo? ¿Cuál [es] mi maldad, o cuál [es] mi pecado contra tu padre para que él busque mi vida?(E) 1 Samuel 20:1 David s'enfuit de Najoth, près de Rama. Was habe ich gesündigt vor deinem Vater, daß er nach meinem Leben steht?(D) 1Sa 20:1 καὶ ἀπέδρα Δαυιδ ἐκ Ναυαθ ἐν Ραμα καὶ ἔρχεται ἐνώπιον Ιωναθαν καὶ εἶπεν τί πεποίηκα καὶ τί τὸ ἀδίκημά μου καὶ τί ἡμάρτηκα ἐνώπιον τοῦ πατρός σου ὅτι ἐπιζητεῖ τὴν ψυχήν μου(lxx) 1Sa 20:1 Then David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and went and said to Jonathan, "What have I done? What is my iniquity, and what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:2 ============ 1Sa 20:2 He said to him, "Far from it, you shall not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small without disclosing it to me. So why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so!"(nasb) 1Sa 20:2 Qui dixit ei: Absit, non morieris: neque enim faciet pater meus quidquam grande vel parvum, nisi prius indicaverit mihi: hunc ergo celavit me pater meus sermonem tantummodo? nequaquam erit istud.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:2 Y él le dijo: En ninguna manera; no morirás. He aquí que mi padre ninguna cosa hará, grande ni pequeña, que no me la descubra; ¿por qué me ha de encubrir mi padre este asunto? Siehe, mein Vater tut nichts, weder Großes noch Kleines, das er nicht meinen Ohren offenbare; warum sollte denn mein Vater dies vor mir verbergen? Es wird nicht so sein.(D) 1Sa 20:2 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιωναθαν μηδαμῶς σοι οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃς ἰδοὺ οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ ὁ πατήρ μου ῥῆμα μέγα ἢ μικρὸν καὶ οὐκ ἀποκαλύψει τὸ ὠτίον μου καὶ τί ὅτι κρύψει ὁ πατήρ μου τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν τοῦτο(lxx) 1Sa 20:2 So Jonathan said to him, "By no means! You shall not die! Indeed, my father will do nothing either great or small without first telling me. And why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so!"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:3 ============ 1Sa 20:3 Yet David vowed again, saying, "Your father knows well that I have found favor in your sight, and he has said, 'Do not let Jonathan know this, or he will be grieved.' But truly as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is hardly a step between me and death."(nasb) 1Sa 20:3 Et juravit rursum Davidi. Et ille ait: Scit profecto pater tuus quia inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, et dicet: Nesciat hoc Jonathas, ne forte tristetur. Quinimmo vivit Dominus, et vivit anima tua, quia uno tantum (ut ita dicam) gradu ego morsque dividimur.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:3 Y David volvió a jurar, diciendo: Tu padre sabe claramente que yo he hallado gracia delante de tus ojos, y dirá: No sepa esto Jonatán, para que no tenga pesar; y ciertamente, vive Jehová y vive tu alma, que apenas [hay] un paso entre mí y la muerte.(E) 1 Samuel 20:3 David dit encore, en jurant: Ton père sait bien que j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, et il aura dit: Que Jonathan ne le sache pas; cela lui ferait de la peine. Mais l'Eternel est vivant et ton âme est vivante! il n'y a qu'un pas entre moi et la mort.(F) 1Sa 20:3 Da schwur David weiter und sprach: Dein Vater weiß wohl, daß ich Gnade vor deinen Augen gefunden habe; darum wird er denken: Jonathan soll solches nicht wissen, es möchte ihn bekümmern. Wahrlich, so wahr der HERR lebt, und so wahr deine Seele lebt, es ist nur ein Schritt zwischen mir und dem Tode.(D) 1Sa 20:3 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ τῷ Ιωναθαν καὶ εἶπεν γινώσκων οἶδεν ὁ πατήρ σου ὅτι εὕρηκα χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου καὶ εἶπεν μὴ γνώτω τοῦτο Ιωναθαν μὴ οὐ βούληται ἀλλὰ ζῇ κύριος καὶ ζῇ ἡ ψυχή σου ὅτι καθὼς εἶπον ἐμπέπλησται ἀνὰ μέσον μου καὶ τοῦ θανάτου(lxx) 1Sa 20:3 Then David took an oath again, and said, "Your father certainly knows that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said, 'Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.' But let me go, that I may hide myself in the field until the third evening.(nasb) 1Sa 20:5 Dixit autem David ad Jonathan: Ecce calendæ sunt crastino, et ego ex more sedere soleo juxta regem ad vescendum: dimitte ergo me ut abscondar in agro usque ad vesperam diei tertiæ.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:5 Y David respondió a Jonatán: He aquí que mañana será nueva luna, y yo acostumbro sentarme con el rey a comer; mas tú dejarás que me esconda en el campo hasta la tarde del tercer [día].(E) 1 Samuel 20:5 Et David lui répondit: Voici, c'est demain la nouvelle lune, et je devrais m'asseoir avec le roi pour manger; laisse-moi aller, et je me cacherai dans les champs jusqu'au soir du troisième jour.(F) 1Sa 20:5 David sprach zu ihm: Siehe, morgen ist der Neumond, da ich mit dem König zu Tisch sitzen sollte; so laß mich, daß ich mich auf dem Felde verberge bis an den Abend des dritten Tages.(D) 1Sa 20:5 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ιωναθαν ἰδοὺ δὴ νεομηνία αὔριον καὶ ἐγὼ καθίσας οὐ καθήσομαι μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως φαγεῖν καὶ ἐξαποστελεῖς με καὶ κρυβήσομαι ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ ἕως δείλης(lxx) 1Sa 20:5 And David said to Jonathan, "Indeed tomorrow is the New Moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. But let me go, that I may hide in the field until the third day at evening.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:6 ============ 1Sa 20:6 If your father misses me at all, then say, 'David earnestly asked leave of me to run to Bethlehem his city, because it is the yearly sacrifice there for the whole family.'(nasb) 1Sa 20:6 Si respiciens requisierit me pater tuus, respondebis ei: Rogavit me David ut iret celeriter in Bethlehem civitatem suam, quia victimæ solemnes ibi sunt universis contribulibus suis.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:6 Si tu padre hiciere mención de mí, dirás: Me rogó mucho [que lo dejase] ir corriendo a Belén su ciudad, porque todos los de su familia [celebran] allá el sacrificio anual.(E) 1 Samuel 20:6 Si ton père remarque mon absence, tu diras: David m'a prié de lui laisser faire une course à Bethléhem, sa ville, parce qu'il y a pour toute la famille un sacrifice annuel.(F) 1Sa 20:6 Wird dein Vater nach mir fragen, so sprich: David bat mich, daß er gen Bethlehem, zu seiner Stadt, laufen möchte; denn es ist ein jährlich Opfer daselbst dem ganzen Geschlecht.(D) 1Sa 20:6 ἐὰν ἐπισκεπτόμενος ἐπισκέψηταί με ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ ἐρεῖς παραιτούμενος παρῃτήσατο ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ Δαυιδ δραμεῖν ἕως εἰς Βηθλεεμ τὴν πόλιν αὐτοῦ ὅτι θυσία τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐκεῖ ὅλῃ τῇ φυλῇ(lxx) 1Sa 20:6 If your father misses me at all, then say, 'David earnestly asked permission of me that he might run over to Bethlehem, his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.'(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:7 ============ 1Sa 20:7 If he says, 'It is good,' your servant will be safe; but if he is very angry, know that he has decided on evil.(nasb) 1Sa 20:7 Si dixerit: Bene: pax erit servo tuo. Si autem fuerit iratus, scito quia completa est malitia ejus.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:7 Si él dijere: Está bien, tu siervo tendrá paz; pero si se enojare, sabe que él está determinado a hacer mal.(E) 1 Samuel 20:7 Et s'il dit: C'est bien! ton serviteur alors n'a rien à craindre; mais si la colère s'empare de lui, sache que le mal est résolu de sa part.(F) 1Sa 20:7 Wird er sagen: Es ist gut, so steht es wohl um deinen Knecht. Wird er aber ergrimmen, so wirst du merken, daß Böses bei ihm beschlossen ist.(D) 1Sa 20:7 ἐὰν τάδε εἴπῃ ἀγαθῶς εἰρήνη τῷ δούλῳ σου καὶ ἐὰν σκληρῶς ἀποκριθῇ σοι γνῶθι ὅτι συντετέλεσται ἡ κακία παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ(lxx) 1Sa 20:7 If he says thus: 'It is well,' your servant will be safe. But if he is very angry, then be sure that evil is determined by him.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:8 ============ 1Sa 20:8 Therefore deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the Lord with you. But if there is iniquity in me, put me to death yourself; for why then should you bring me to your father?"(nasb) 1Sa 20:8 Fac ergo misericordiam in servum tuum, quia fœdus Domini me famulum tuum tecum inire fecisti: si autem est iniquitas aliqua in me, tu me interfice, et ad patrem tuum ne introducas me.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:8 Harás, pues, misericordia con tu siervo, ya que has hecho entrar a tu siervo a un pacto de Jehová contigo; y si hay maldad en mí mátame tú, pues no hay necesidad de llevarme hasta tu padre.(E) 1 Samuel 20:8 Montre donc ton affection pour ton serviteur, puisque tu as fait avec ton serviteur une alliance devant l'Eternel. Et, s'il y a quelque crime en moi, ôte-moi la vie toi-même, car pourquoi me mènerais-tu jusqu'à ton père?(F) 1Sa 20:8 So tue nun Barmherzigkeit an deinem Knecht; denn du hast mit mir, deinem Knecht, einen Bund im HERRN gemacht. Ist aber eine Missetat an mir, so töte du mich; denn warum wolltest du mich zu deinem Vater bringen?(D) 1Sa 20:8 καὶ ποιήσεις ἔλεος μετὰ τοῦ δούλου σου ὅτι εἰσήγαγες εἰς διαθήκην κυρίου τὸν δοῦλόν σου μετὰ σεαυτοῦ καὶ εἰ ἔστιν ἀδικία ἐν τῷ δούλῳ σου θανάτωσόν με σύ καὶ ἕως τοῦ πατρός σου ἵνα τί οὕτως εἰσάγεις με(lxx) 1Sa 20:8 Therefore you shall deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the Lord with you. Nevertheless, if there is iniquity in me, kill me yourself, for why should you bring me to your father?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:9 ============ 1Sa 20:9 Jonathan said, "Far be it from you! For if I should indeed learn that evil has been decided by my father to come upon you, then would I not tell you about it?"(nasb) 1Sa 20:9 Et ait Jonathas: Absit hoc a te: neque enim fieri potest, ut si certe cognovero completam esse patris mei malitiam contra te, non annuntiem tibi.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:9 Y Jonatán le dijo: Nunca tal te acontezca; pues si yo supiese que mi padre determinase hacerte mal, ¿no te lo avisaría yo?(E) 1 Samuel 20:9 Jonathan lui dit: Loin de toi la pensée que je ne t'informerai pas, si j'apprends que le mal est résolu de la part de mon père et menace de t'atteindre!(F) 1Sa 20:9 Jonathan sprach: Das sei ferne von dir, daß ich sollte merken, daß Böses bei meinem Vater beschlossen wäre über dich zu bringen, und sollte es dir nicht ansagen.(D) 1Sa 20:9 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν μηδαμῶς σοι ὅτι ἐὰν γινώσκων γνῶ ὅτι συντετέλεσται ἡ κακία παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐλθεῖν ἐπὶ σέ καὶ ἐὰν μή εἰς τὰς πόλεις σου ἐγὼ ἀπαγγελῶ σοι(lxx) 1Sa 20:9 But Jonathan said, "Far be it from you! For if I knew certainly that evil was determined by my father to come upon you, then would I not tell you?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:10 ============ 1Sa 20:10 Then David said to Jonathan, "Who will tell me if your father answers you harshly?"(nasb) 1Sa 20:10 Responditque David ad Jonathan: Quis renuntiabit mihi, si quid forte responderit tibi pater tuus dure de me?~(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:10 Dijo entonces David a Jonatán: ¿Quién me dará aviso? o ¿qué si tu padre te respondiere ásperamente?(E) 1 Samuel 20:10 David dit à Jonathan: Qui m'informera dans le cas où ton père te répondrait durement?(F) 1Sa 20:10 David aber sprach: Wer will mir's ansagen, so dir dein Vater etwas Hartes antwortet?(D) 1Sa 20:10 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ιωναθαν τίς ἀπαγγελεῖ μοι ἐὰν ἀποκριθῇ ὁ πατήρ σου σκληρῶς(lxx) 1Sa 20:10 Then David said to Jonathan, "Who will tell me, or what if your father answers you roughly?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:11 ============ 1Sa 20:11 Jonathan said to David, "Come, and let us go out into the field." So both of them went out to the field.(nasb) 1Sa 20:11 Et ait Jonathas ad David: Veni, et egrediamur foras in agrum. Cumque exissent ambo in agrum,(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:11 Y Jonatán dijo a David: Ven, salgamos al campo. Y salieron ambos al campo.(E) 1 Samuel 20:11 Et Jonathan dit à David: Viens, sortons dans les champs. Und sie gingen beide hinaus aufs Feld.(D) 1Sa 20:11 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς Δαυιδ πορεύου καὶ μένε εἰς ἀγρόν καὶ ἐκπορεύονται ἀμφότεροι εἰς ἀγρόν(lxx) 1Sa 20:11 And Jonathan said to David, "Come, and let us go out into the field." So both of them went out into the field.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:12 ============ 1Sa 20:12 Then Jonathan said to David, "The Lord, the God of Israel, be witness! When I have sounded out my father about this time tomorrow, or the third day, behold, if there is good feeling toward David, shall I not then send to you and make it known to you?(nasb) 1Sa 20:12 ait Jonathas ad David: Domine Deus Israël, si investigavero sententiam patris mei crastino vel perendie, et aliquid boni fuerit super David, et non statim misero ad te, et notum tibi fecero,(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:12 Entonces Jonatán dijo a David: Jehová, Dios de Israel [sea testigo;] cuando yo haya preguntado a mi padre mañana a esta hora, o al tercer día, y él apareciere bien para con David, si entonces yo no enviare a ti y te lo hiciere saber,(E) 1 Samuel 20:12 Jonathan dit à David: Je prends à témoin l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël! Je sonderai mon père demain ou après-demain; et, dans le cas où il serait bien disposé pour David, si je n'envoie vers toi personne pour t'en informer,(F) 1Sa 20:12 Und Jonathan sprach zu David: HERR, Gott Israels, wenn ich erforsche an meinem Vater morgen und am dritten Tag, daß es wohl steht mit David, und nicht hinsende zu dir und es vor deinen Ohren offenbare,(D) 1Sa 20:12 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς Δαυιδ κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ οἶδεν ὅτι ἀνακρινῶ τὸν πατέρα μου ὡς ἂν ὁ καιρὸς τρισσῶς καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀγαθὸν ᾖ περὶ Δαυιδ καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποστείλω πρὸς σὲ εἰς ἀγρόν(lxx) 1Sa 20:12 Then Jonathan said to David: "The Lord God of Israel is witness! When I have sounded out my father sometime tomorrow, or the third day, and indeed there is good toward David, and I do not send to you and tell you,(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 20:13 ============ 1Sa 20:13 If it please my father to do you harm, may the Lord do so to Jonathan and more also, if I do not make it known to you and send you away, that you may go in safety. And may the Lord be with you as He has been with my father.(nasb) 1Sa 20:13 hæc faciat Dominus Jonathæ, et hæc addat. Si autem perseveraverit patris mei malitia adversum te, revelabo aurem tuam, et dimittam te, ut vadas in pace, et sit Dominus tecum, sicut fuit cum patre meo.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 20:13 Jehová haga así a Jonatán, y aun añada. Mas si mi padre quisiere hacerte mal, también te lo haré saber y te enviaré y te irás en paz: Y Jehová sea contigo, como ha sido con mi padre.(E) 1 Samuel 20:13 que l'Eternel traite Jonathan dans toute sa rigueur! Dans le cas où mon père trouverait bon de te faire du mal, je t'informerai aussi et je te laisserai partir, afin que tu t'en ailles en paix; et que l'Eternel soit avec toi, comme il a été avec mon père!(F) 1Sa 20:13 so tue der HERR dem Jonathan dies und jenes. Wenn aber das Böse meinem Vater gefällt wider dich, so will ich's auch vor deinen Ohren offenbaren und dich ziehen lassen, daß du mit Frieden weggehst. Und der HERR sei mit dir, wie er mit meinem Vater gewesen ist.(D) 1Sa 20:13 τάδε ποιήσαι ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ιωναθαν καὶ τάδε προσθείη ὅτι ἀνοίσω τὰ κακὰ ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ ἀποκαλύψω τὸ ὠτίον σου καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ σε καὶ ἀπελεύσῃ εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ ἔσται κύριος μετὰ σοῦ καθὼς ἦν μετὰ τοῦ πατρός μου(lxx) 1Sa 20:13 may the Lord do so and much more to Jonathan. But if it pleases my father to do you evil, then I will report it to you and send you away, that you may go in safety.
