And Ahimelech was afraid when he met David, and said to him, "Why are you alone, and no one is with you?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:2 ============ 1Sa 21:2 David said to Ahimelech the priest, "The king has commissioned me with a matter and has said to me, 'Let no one know anything about the matter on which I am sending you and with which I have commissioned you; and I have directed the young men to a certain place.'(nasb) 1Sa 21:2 Et ait David ad Achimelech sacerdotem: Rex præcepit mihi sermonem, et dixit: Nemo sciat rem propter quam missus es a me, et cujusmodi præcepta tibi dederim: nam et pueris condixi in illum et illum locum.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:2 Y respondió David al sacerdote Ahimelec: El rey me encomendó un asunto, y me dijo: Nadie sepa cosa alguna de este asunto a que yo te envío, y que yo te he mandado; y yo señalé a los criados un cierto lugar.(E) 1 Samuel 21:2 David répondit au sacrificateur Achimélec: Le roi m'a donné un ordre et m'a dit: Que personne ne sache rien de l'affaire pour laquelle je t'envoie et de l'ordre que je t'ai donné. Denn ich habe auch meine Leute an den und den Ort beschieden.(D) 1Sa 21:2 καὶ ἔρχεται Δαυιδ εἰς Νομβα πρὸς Αβιμελεχ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ἐξέστη Αβιμελεχ τῇ ἀπαντήσει αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τί ὅτι σὺ μόνος καὶ οὐθεὶς μετὰ σοῦ(lxx) 1Sa 21:2 So David said to Ahimelech the priest, "The king has ordered me on some business, and said to me, 'Do not let anyone know anything about the business on which I send you, or what I have commanded you.' And I have directed my young men to such and such a place.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:3 ============ 1Sa 21:3 Now therefore, what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread, or whatever can be found."(nasb) 1Sa 21:3 Nunc ergo si quid habes ad manum, vel quinque panes, da mihi, aut quidquid inveneris.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:3 Ahora, pues, ¿qué tienes a mano? Give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatever can be found."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:4 ============ 1Sa 21:4 The priest answered David and said, "There is no ordinary bread on hand, but there is consecrated bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women."(nasb) 1Sa 21:4 Et respondens sacerdos ad David, ait illi: Non habeo laicos panes ad manum, sed tantum panem sanctum: si mundi sunt pueri, maxime a mulieribus?(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:4 Y el sacerdote respondió a David, y dijo: No [tengo] pan común a la mano; solamente tengo pan sagrado; [os lo daré] si los criados se han guardado a lo menos de mujeres.(E) 1 Samuel 21:4 Le sacrificateur répondit à David: Je n'ai pas de pain ordinaire sous la main, mais il y a du pain consacré; si du moins tes gens se sont abstenus de femmes!(F) 1Sa 21:4 Der Priester antwortete David und sprach: Ich habe kein gemeines Brot unter meiner Hand, sondern heiliges Brot; wenn sich nur die Leute von Weibern enthalten hätten!(D) 1Sa 21:4 καὶ νῦν εἰ εἰσὶν ὑπὸ τὴν χεῖρά σου πέντε ἄρτοι δὸς εἰς χεῖρά μου τὸ εὑρεθέν(lxx) 1Sa 21:4 And the priest answered David and said, "There is no common bread on hand; but there is holy bread, if the young men have at least kept themselves from women."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:5 ============ 1Sa 21:5 David answered the priest and said to him, "Surely women have been kept from us as previously when I set out and the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then today will their vessels be holy?"(nasb) 1Sa 21:5 Et respondit David sacerdoti, et dixit ei: Equidem, si de mulieribus agitur: continuimus nos ab heri et nudiustertius quando egrediebamur, et fuerunt vasa puerorum sancta. And the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in effect common, even though it was sanctified in the vessel this day."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:6 ============ 1Sa 21:6 So the priest gave him consecrated bread; for there was no bread there but the bread of the Presence which was removed from before the Lord, in order to put hot bread in its place when it was taken away.(nasb) 1Sa 21:6 Dedit ergo ei sacerdos sanctificatum panem: neque enim erat ibi panis, nisi tantum panes propositionis, qui sublati fuerant a facie Domini, ut ponerentur panes calidi.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:6 Así el sacerdote le dio [pan] sagrado, porque allí no había otro pan sino los panes de la proposición, los cuales habían sido quitados de delante de Jehová, para que se pusiesen panes calientes el día que los otros fueron quitados.(E) 1 Samuel 21:6 Alors le sacrificateur lui donna du pain consacré, car il n'y avait là d'autre pain que du pain de proposition, qu'on avait ôté de devant l'Eternel pour le remplacer par du pain chaud au moment où on l'avait pris.(F) 1Sa 21:6 Da gab ihm der Priester von dem heiligen Brot, weil kein anderes da war denn die Schaubrote, die man vor dem HERRN abhob, daß man anderes frisches Brot auflegte des Tages, da man sie wegnahm.(D) 1Sa 21:6 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ τῷ ἱερεῖ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ γυναικὸς ἀπεσχήμεθα ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἐξελθεῖν με εἰς ὁδὸν γέγονε πάντα τὰ παιδάρια ἡγνισμένα καὶ αὐτὴ ἡ ὁδὸς βέβηλος διότι ἁγιασθήσεται σήμερον διὰ τὰ σκεύη μου(lxx) 1Sa 21:6 So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread which had been taken from before the Lord, in order to put hot bread in its place on the day when it was taken away.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:7 ============ 1Sa 21:7 Now one of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chief of Saul's shepherds.(nasb) 1Sa 21:7 Erat autem ibi vir quidam de servis Saul in die illa, intus in tabernaculo Domini: et nomen ejus Doëg Idumæus, potentissimus pastorum Saul.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:7 Aquel día estaba allí, detenido delante de Jehová, uno de los siervos de Saúl, cuyo nombre era Doeg, idumeo, principal de los pastores de Saúl.(E) 1 Samuel 21:7 Là, ce même jour, un homme d'entre les serviteurs de Saül se trouvait enfermé devant l'Eternel; c'était un Edomite, nommé Doëg, chef des bergers de Saül.(F) 1Sa 21:7 Es war aber des Tages ein Mann drinnen versperrt vor dem HERRN aus den Knechten Sauls, mit Namen Doeg, ein Edomiter, der mächtigste unter den Hirten Sauls.(D) 1Sa 21:7 καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Αβιμελεχ ὁ ἱερεὺς τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ὅτι οὐκ ἦν ἐκεῖ ἄρτος ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ ἄρτοι τοῦ προσώπου οἱ ἀφῃρημένοι ἐκ προσώπου κυρίου παρατεθῆναι ἄρτον θερμὸν ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἔλαβεν αὐτούς(lxx) 1Sa 21:7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord. And his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chief of the herdsmen who belonged to Saul.(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:8 ============ 1Sa 21:8 David said to Ahimelech, "Now is there not a spear or a sword on hand? For I brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's matter was urgent."(nasb) 1Sa 21:8 Dixit autem David ad Achimelech: Si habes hic ad manum hastam aut gladium? quia gladium meum et arma mea non tuli mecum: sermo enim regis urgebat.(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:8 Y David dijo a Ahimelec: ¿No tienes aquí a mano lanza o espada? Ich habe mein Schwert und meine Waffen nicht mit mir genommen; denn die Sache des Königs war eilend.(D) 1Sa 21:8 καὶ ἐκεῖ ἦν ἓν τῶν παιδαρίων τοῦ Σαουλ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ συνεχόμενος νεεσσαραν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Δωηκ ὁ Σύρος νέμων τὰς ἡμιόνους Σαουλ(lxx) 1Sa 21:8 And David said to Ahimelech, "Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste."(nkjv) ======= 1 Samuel 21:9 ============ 1Sa 21:9 Then the priest said, "The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, behold, it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if you would take it for yourself, take it. For there is no other except it here." And David said, "There is none like it; give it to me."(nasb) 1Sa 21:9 Et dixit sacerdos: Ecce hic gladius Goliath Philisthæi, quem percussisti in Valle terebinthi: est involutus pallio post ephod: si istum vis tollere, tolle: neque enim hic est alius absque eo. Et ait David: Non est huic alter similis: da mihi eum.~(vulgate) 1 Samuel 21:9 Y el sacerdote respondió: La espada de Goliat el filisteo, que tú venciste en el valle de Ela, está aquí envuelta en un velo detrás del efod; si tú quieres tomarla, tómala; porque aquí no [hay] otra sino esa. Y dijo David: ¡Ninguna como ella! ¡Dámela!(E) 1 Samuel 21:9 Le sacrificateur répondit: Voici l'épée de Goliath, le Philistin, que tu as tué dans la vallée des térébinthes; elle est enveloppée dans un drap, derrière l'éphod; si tu veux la prendre, prends-la, car il n'y en a pas d'autre ici. Et David dit: Il n'y en a point de pareille; donne-la-moi.(F) 1Sa 21:9 Der Priester sprach: Das Schwert des Philisters Goliath, den du schlugst im Eichgrunde, das ist hier, gewickelt in einen Mantel hinter dem Leibrock. Willst du das, so nimm's hin; denn es ist hier kein anderes als das. David sprach: Es ist seinesgleichen nicht; gib mir's!(D) 1Sa 21:9 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αβιμελεχ ἰδὲ εἰ ἔστιν ἐνταῦθα ὑπὸ τὴν χεῖρά σου δόρυ ἢ ῥομφαία ὅτι τὴν ῥομφαίαν μου καὶ τὰ σκεύη οὐκ εἴληφα ἐν τῇ χειρί μου ὅτι ἦν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦ βασιλέως κατὰ σπουδήν(lxx) 1Sa 21:9 So the priest said, "The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here."
