Today's Date: ======= Esther 8:1 ============ Est 8:1 On that day King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews, to Queen Esther; and Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had disclosed what he was to her.(nasb) Est 8:1 Die illo dedit rex Assuerus Esther reginæ domum Aman adversarii Judæorum, et Mardochæus ingressus est ante faciem regis. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:2 ============ Est 8:2 The king took off his signet ring which he had taken away from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.(nasb) Est 8:2 Tulitque rex annulum, quem ab Aman recipi jusserat, et tradidit Mardochæo. Esther autem constituit Mardochæum super domum suam.(vulgate) Esther 8:2 Y se quitó el rey su anillo que había vuelto a tomar de Amán, y lo dio a Mardoqueo. Y Esther puso a Mardoqueo sobre la casa de Amán.(E) Esther 8:2 Le roi ôta son anneau, qu'il avait repris à Haman, et le donna à Mardochée; Esther, de son côté, établit Mardochée sur la maison d'Haman.(F) Est 8:2 Und der König tat ab von seinem Fingerreif, den er von Haman hatte genommen, und gab ihn Mardochai. Und Est r setzte Mardochai über das Haus Hamans.(D) Est 8:2 ἔλαβεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν δακτύλιον ὃν ἀφείλατο Αμαν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν Μαρδοχαίῳ καὶ κατέστησεν Εσθηρ Μαρδοχαῖον ἐπὶ πάντων τῶν Αμαν(lxx) Est 8:2 So the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:3 ============ Est 8:3 Then Esther spoke again to the king, fell at his feet, wept and implored him to avert the evil scheme of Haman the Agagite and his plot which he had devised against the Jews.(nasb) Est 8:3 Nec his contenta, procidit ad pedes regis, flevitque, et locuta ad eum oravit ut malitiam Aman Agagitæ, et machinationes ejus pessimas quas excogitaverat contra Judæos, juberet irritas fieri.(vulgate) Esther 8:3 Y Esther habló otra vez delante del rey, y postrándose a sus pies, le rogó con lágrimas que hiciese nula la maldad de Amán agageo, y su designio que él había tramado contra los judíos.(E) Esther 8:3 Puis Esther parla de nouveau en présence du roi. Elle se jeta à ses pieds, elle pleura, elle le supplia d'empêcher les effets de la méchanceté d'Haman, l'Agaguite, et la réussite de ses projets contre les Juifs.(F) Est 8:3 Und Est r redete weiter vor dem König und fiel ihm zu den Füßen und weinte und flehte ihn an, daß er zunichte machte die Bosheit Hamans, des Agagiters, und seine Anschläge, die er wider die Juden erdacht hatte.(D) Est 8:3 καὶ προσθεῖσα ἐλάλησεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ προσέπεσεν πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἠξίου ἀφελεῖν τὴν Αμαν κακίαν καὶ ὅσα ἐποίησεν τοῖς Ιουδαίοις(lxx) Est 8:3 Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman the Agagite, and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:4 ============ Est 8:4 The king extended the golden scepter to Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king.(nasb) Est 8:4 At ille ex more sceptrum aureum protendit manu, quo signum clementiæ monstrabatur: illaque consurgens stetit ante eum,(vulgate) Esther 8:4 Entonces el rey extendió a Esther el cetro de oro, y Esther se levantó, y se puso en pie delante del rey.(E) Esther 8:4 Le roi tendit le sceptre d'or à Esther, qui se releva et resta debout devant le roi.(F) Est 8:4 Und der König reckte das goldene Zepter gegen Est r. Da stand Est r auf und trat vor den König(D) Est 8:4 ἐξέτεινεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς Εσθηρ τὴν ῥάβδον τὴν χρυσῆν ἐξηγέρθη δὲ Εσθηρ παρεστηκέναι τῷ βασιλεῖ(lxx) Est 8:4 And the king held out the golden scepter toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king,(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:5 ============ Est 8:5 Then she said, "If it pleases the king and if I have found favor before him and the matter seems proper to the king and I am pleasing in his sight, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king's provinces.(nasb) Est 8:5 et ait: Si placet regi, et si inveni gratiam in oculis ejus, et deprecatio mea non ei videtur esse contraria, obsecro ut novis epistolis, veteres Aman litteræ, insidiatoris et hostis Judæorum, quibus eos in cunctis regis provinciis perire præceperat, corrigantur.(vulgate) Esther 8:5 Y dijo: Si le place al rey, y si he hallado gracia delante de él, y si la cosa es recta delante del rey, y agradable yo en sus ojos, sea escrito para revocar las cartas del designio de Amán, hijo de Amadata agageo, que escribió para destruir a los judíos que están en todas las provincias del rey.(E) Esther 8:5 Elle dit alors: Si le roi le trouve bon et si j'ai trouvé grâce devant lui, si la chose paraît convenable au roi et si je suis agréable à ses yeux, qu'on écrive pour révoquer les lettres conçues par Haman, fils d'Hammedatha, l'Agaguite, et écrites par lui dans le but de faire périr les Juifs qui sont dans toutes les provinces du roi.(F) Est 8:5 und sprach: Gefällt es dem König und habe ich Gnade gefunden vor ihm und ist's gelegen dem König und ich gefalle ihm, so schreibe man, daß die Briefe Hamans, des Sohnes Hammedathas, des Agagiters, widerrufen werden, die er geschrieben hat, die Juden umzubringen in allen Landen des Königs.(D) Est 8:5 καὶ εἶπεν Εσθηρ εἰ δοκεῖ σοι καὶ εὗρον χάριν πεμφθήτω ἀποστραφῆναι τὰ γράμματα τὰ ἀπεσταλμένα ὑπὸ Αμαν τὰ γραφέντα ἀπολέσθαι τοὺς Ιουδαίους οἵ εἰσιν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ σου(lxx) Est 8:5 and said, "If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight and the thing seems right to the king and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to annihilate the Jews who are in all the king's provinces.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:6 ============ Est 8:6 For how can I endure to see the calamity which will befall my people, and how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?"(nasb) Est 8:6 Quomodo enim potero sustinere necem et interfectionem populi mei?(vulgate) Esther 8:6 Porque ¿cómo podré yo ver el mal que vendrá sobre mi pueblo? ¿Y cómo podré yo ver la destrucción de mi gente?(E) Esther 8:6 Car comment pourrais-je voir le malheur qui atteindrait mon peuple, et comment pourrais-je voir la destruction de ma race?(F) Est 8:6 Denn wie kann ich zusehen dem Übel, das mein Volk treffen würde? Und wie kann ich zusehen, daß mein Geschlecht umkomme?(D) Est 8:6 πῶς γὰρ δυνήσομαι ἰδεῖν τὴν κάκωσιν τοῦ λαοῦ μου καὶ πῶς δυνήσομαι σωθῆναι ἐν τῇ ἀπωλείᾳ τῆς πατρίδος μου(lxx) Est 8:6 For how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my countrymen?"(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:7 ============ Est 8:7 So King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Behold, I have given the house of Haman to Esther, and him they have hanged on the gallows because he had stretched out his hands against the Jews.(nasb) Est 8:7 Responditque rex Assuerus Esther reginæ, et Mardochæo Judæo: Domum Aman concessi Esther, et ipsum jussi affigi cruci, quia ausus est manum mittere in Judæos.(vulgate) Esther 8:7 Y respondió el rey Asuero a la reina Esther, y a Mardoqueo el judío: He aquí yo he dado a Esther la casa de Amán, y a él han colgado en la horca, por cuanto extendió su mano contra los judíos.(E) Esther 8:7 Le roi Assuérus dit à la reine Esther et au Juif Mardochée: Voici, j'ai donné à Esther la maison d'Haman, et il a été pendu au bois pour avoir étendu la main contre les Juifs.(F) Est 8:7 Da sprach der König Ahasveros zur Königin Est r und zu Mardochai, dem Juden: Siehe, ich habe Est r das Haus Hamans gegeben, und ihn hat man an einen Baum gehängt, darum daß er seine Hand hat an die Juden gelegt;(D) Est 8:7 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Εσθηρ εἰ πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα Αμαν ἔδωκα καὶ ἐχαρισάμην σοι καὶ αὐτὸν ἐκρέμασα ἐπὶ ξύλου ὅτι τὰς χεῖρας ἐπήνεγκε τοῖς Ιουδαίοις τί ἔτι ἐπιζητεῖς(lxx) Est 8:7 Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, "Indeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:8 ============ Est 8:8 Now you write to the Jews as you see fit, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for a decree which is written in the name of the king and sealed with the king's signet ring may not be revoked."(nasb) Est 8:8 Scribite ergo Judæis, sicut vobis placet, regis nomine, signantes litteras annulo meo. Hæc enim consuetudo erat, ut epistolis, quæ ex regis nomine mittebantur et illius annulo signatæ erant, nemo auderet contradicere.(vulgate) Esther 8:8 Escribid, pues, vosotros a los judíos como bien os pareciere en el nombre del rey, y selladlo con el anillo del rey; porque el escrito que se escribe en el nombre del rey y se sella con el anillo del rey, no puede ser revocado.(E) Esther 8:8 Ecrivez donc en faveur des Juifs comme il vous plaira, au nom du roi, et scellez avec l'anneau du roi; car une lettre écrite au nom du roi et scellée avec l'anneau du roi ne peut être révoquée.(F) Est 8:8 so schreibt ihr nun für die Juden, wie es euch gefällt, in des Königs Namen und versiegelt's mit des Königs Ringe. Denn die Schriften, die in des Königs Namen geschrieben und mit des Königs Ring versiegelt wurden, durfte niemand widerrufen.(D) Est 8:8 γράψατε καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐκ τοῦ ὀνόματός μου ὡς δοκεῖ ὑμῖν καὶ σφραγίσατε τῷ δακτυλίῳ μου ὅσα γὰρ γράφεται τοῦ βασιλέως ἐπιτάξαντος καὶ σφραγισθῇ τῷ δακτυλίῳ μου οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτοῖς ἀντειπεῖν(lxx) Est 8:8 You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for whatever is written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet ring no one can revoke."(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:9 ============ Est 8:9 So the king's scribes were called at that time in the third month (that is, the month Sivan), on the twenty-third day; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, the satraps, the governors and the princes of the provinces which extended from India to Ethiopia, 127 provinces, to every province according to its script, and to every people according to their language as well as to the Jews according to their script and their language.(nasb) Est 8:9 Accitisque scribis et librariis regis (erat autem tempus tertii mensis, qui appellatur Siban) vigesima et tertia die illius scriptæ sunt epistolæ, ut Mardochæus voluerat, ad Judæos, et ad principes, procuratoresque et judices, qui centum viginti septem provinciis ab India usque ad Æthiopiam præsidebant: provinciæ atque provinciæ, populo et populo juxta linguas et litteras suas, et Judæis, prout legere poterant et audire.~(vulgate) Esther 8:9 Entonces fueron llamados los escribas del rey en el mes tercero, que [es] el mes de Siván, en el [día] veintitrés del mismo; y se escribió conforme a todo lo que Mardoqueo mandó a los judíos, a los sátrapas, a los capitanes y a los príncipes de las provincias que [había] desde la India hasta Etiopía, ciento veintisiete provincias; a cada provincia conforme a su escritura, y a cada pueblo conforme a a su lengua, a los judíos también conforme a su escritura y lengua.(E) Esther 8:9 Les secrétaires du roi furent appelés en ce temps, le vingt-troisième jour du troisième mois, qui est le mois de Sivan, et l'on écrivit, suivant tout ce qui fut ordonné par Mardochée, aux Juifs, aux satrapes, aux gouverneurs et aux chefs des cent vingt-sept provinces situées de l'Inde à l'Ethiopie, à chaque province selon son écriture, à chaque peuple selon sa langue, et aux Juifs selon leur écriture et selon leur langue.(F) Est 8:9 Da wurden berufen des Königs Schreiber zu der Zeit im dritten Monat, das ist der Monat Sivan, am dreiundzwanzigsten Tage, und wurde geschrieben, wie Mardochai gebot, an die Juden und an die Fürsten, Landpfleger und Hauptleute in den Landen von Indien bis an das Mohrenland, nämlich hundert und siebenundzwanzig Länder, einem jeglichen Lande nach seiner Schrift, einem jeglichen Volk nach seiner Sprache, und den Juden nach ihrer Schrift und Sprache.(D) Est 8:9 ἐκλήθησαν δὲ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐν τῷ πρώτῳ μηνί ὅς ἐστι Νισα τρίτῃ καὶ εἰκάδι τοῦ αὐτοῦ ἔτους καὶ ἐγράφη τοῖς Ιουδαίοις ὅσα ἐνετείλατο τοῖς οἰκονόμοις καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν τῶν σατραπῶν ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰνδικῆς ἕως τῆς Αἰθιοπίας ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι ἑπτὰ σατραπείαις κατὰ χώραν καὶ χώραν κατὰ τὴν ἑαυτῶν λέξιν(lxx) Est 8:9 So the king's scribes were called at that time, in the third month, which is the month of Sivan, on the twenty-third day; and it was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, the satraps, the governors, and the princes of the provinces from India to Ethiopia, one hundred and twenty-seven provinces in all, to every province in its own script, to every people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own script and language.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:10 ============ Est 8:10 He wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king's signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horses, riding on steeds sired by the royal stud.(nasb) Est 8:10 Ipsæque epistolæ, quæ regis nomine mittebantur, annulo ipsius obsignatæ sunt, et missæ per veredarios: qui per omnes provincias discurrentes, veteres litteras novis nuntiis prævenirent.(vulgate) Esther 8:10 Y escribió en nombre del rey Asuero, y [lo] selló con el anillo del rey, y envió cartas por correos montados en caballos, en mulos, en camellos y en dromedarios.(E) Esther 8:10 On écrivit au nom du roi Assuérus, et l'on scella avec l'anneau du roi. Und er sandte die Briefe durch die reitenden Boten auf jungen Maultieren,(D) Est 8:10 ἐγράφη δὲ διὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐσφραγίσθη τῷ δακτυλίῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξαπέστειλαν τὰ γράμματα διὰ βιβλιαφόρων(lxx) Est 8:10 And he wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, sealed it with the king's signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, riding on royal horses bred from swift steeds.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:11 ============ Est 8:11 In them the king granted the Jews who were in each and every city the right to assemble and to defend their lives, to destroy, to kill and to annihilate the entire army of any people or province which might attack them, including children and women, and to plunder their spoil,(nasb) Est 8:11 Quibus imperavit rex, ut convenirent Judæos per singulas civitates, et in unum præciperent congregari ut starent pro animabus suis, et omnes inimicos suos cum conjugibus ac liberis et universis domibus, interficerent atque delerent, et spolia eorum diriperent.(vulgate) Esther 8:11 Y en ellas el rey daba facultad a los judíos que [estaban] en todas las ciudades, para que se reuniesen y estuviesen a la defensa de su vida, prestos a destruir, y matar, y acabar con todo ejército de pueblo o provincia que viniese contra ellos, y aun a los niños y a las mujeres, y [que tomasen] de ellos el despojo,(E) Esther 8:11 Par ces lettres, le roi donnait aux Juifs, en quelque ville qu'ils fussent, la permission de se rassembler et de défendre leur vie, de détruire, de tuer et de faire périr, avec leurs petits enfants et leurs femmes, tous ceux de chaque peuple et de chaque province qui prendraient les armes pour les attaquer, et de livrer leurs biens au pillage,(F) Est 8:11 darin der König den Juden Macht gab, in welchen Städten sie auch waren, sich zu versammeln und zu stehen für ihr Leben und zu vertilgen, zu erwürgen und umzubringen alle Macht des Volkes und Landes, die sie ängsteten, samt den Kindern und Weibern, und ihr Gut zu rauben(D) Est 8:11 ὡς ἐπέταξεν αὐτοῖς χρῆσθαι τοῖς νόμοις αὐτῶν ἐν πάσῃ πόλει βοηθῆσαί τε αὑτοῖς καὶ χρῆσθαι τοῖς ἀντιδίκοις αὐτῶν καὶ τοῖς ἀντικειμένοις αὐτῶν ὡς βούλονται(lxx) Est 8:11 By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives--to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions,(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:12 ============ Est 8:12 on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar).(nasb) Est 8:12 Et constituta est per omnes provincias una ultionis dies, id est tertiadecima mensis duodecimi Adar.(vulgate) Esther 8:12 en un mismo día en todas las provincias del rey Asuero, en el [día] trece del mes duodécimo, que [es] el mes de Adar.(E) Esther 8:12 et cela en un seul jour, dans toutes les provinces du roi Assuérus, le treizième du douzième mois, qui est le mois d'Adar.(F) Est 8:12 auf einen Tag in allen Ländern des Königs Ahasveros, nämlich am dreizehnten Tage des zwölften Monats, das ist der Monat Adar.(D) Est 8:12 ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ βασιλείᾳ Ἀρταξέρξου τῇ τρισκαιδεκάτῃ τοῦ δωδεκάτου μηνός ὅς ἐστιν Αδαρ Est 8:12 on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:13 ============ Est 8:13 A copy of the edict to be issued as law in each and every province was published to all the peoples, so that the Jews would be ready for this day to avenge themselves on their enemies.(nasb) Est 8:13 Summaque epistolæ hæc fuit, ut in omnibus terris ac populis qui regis Assueri subjacebant imperio, notum fieret paratos esse Judæos ad capiendam vindictam de hostibus suis.(vulgate) Esther 8:13 La copia de la escritura que había de darse por ordenanza en cada provincia, para que fuese manifiesta a todos los pueblos, decía que los judíos estuviesen apercibidos para aquel día, para vengarse de sus enemigos.(E) Esther 8:13 Ces lettres renfermaient une copie de l'édit qui devait être publié dans chaque province, et informaient tous les peuples que les Juifs se tiendraient prêts pour ce jour-là à se venger de leurs ennemis.(F) Est 8:13 Der Inhalt aber der Schrift war, daß ein Gebot gegeben wäre in allen Landen, zu eröffnen allen Völkern, daß die Juden bereit sein sollten, sich zu rächen an ihren Feinden.(D) Est 8:13 τὰ δὲ ἀντίγραφα ἐκτιθέσθωσαν ὀφθαλμοφανῶς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ βασιλείᾳ ἑτοίμους τε εἶναι πάντας τοὺς Ιουδαίους εἰς ταύτην τὴν ἡμέραν πολεμῆσαι αὐτῶν τοὺς ὑπεναντίους(lxx) Est 8:13 A copy of the document was to be issued as a decree in every province and published for all people, so that the Jews would be ready on that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:14 ============ Est 8:14 The couriers, hastened and impelled by the king's command, went out, riding on the royal steeds; and the decree was given out at the citadel in Susa.(nasb) Est 8:14 Egressique sunt veredarii celeres nuntia perferentes, et edictum regis pependit in Susan.(vulgate) Esther 8:14 Los correos, pues, cabalgando en mulos [y] camellos, salieron a toda prisa impulsados por el mandato del rey; y el decreto fue dado en Susán, capital del reino.(E) Esther 8:14 Les courriers, montés sur des chevaux et des mulets, partirent aussitôt et en toute hâte, d'après l'ordre du roi. And the decree was issued in Shushan the citadel.(nkjv) ======= Esther 8:15 ============ Est 8:15 Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal robes of blue and white, with a large crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced.(nasb) Est 8:15 Mardochæus autem de palatio et de conspectu regis egrediens, fulgebat vestibus regiis, hyacinthinis videlicet et æriis, coronam auream portans in capite, et amictus serico pallio atque purpureo. And many among the peoples of the land became Jews, for the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.(nasb) Est 8:17 Apud omnes populos, urbes, atque provincias, quocumque regis jussa veniebant, mira exultatio, epulæ atque convivia, et festus dies: in tantum ut plures alterius gentis et sectæ eorum religioni et cæremoniis jungerentur. Grandis enim cunctos judaici nominis terror invaserat.(vulgate) Esther 8:17 Y en cada provincia y en cada ciudad donde llegó el mandamiento del rey, los judíos tuvieron alegría y gozo, banquete y día de placer. Y muchos de los pueblos de la tierra se hacían judíos, porque el temor de los judíos había caído sobre ellos.(E) Esther 8:17 Dans chaque province et dans chaque ville, partout où arrivaient l'ordre du roi et son édit, il y eut parmi les Juifs de la joie et de l'allégresse, des festins et des fêtes. Et beaucoup de gens d'entre les peuples du pays se firent Juifs, car la crainte des Juifs les avait saisis.(F) Est 8:17 Und in allen Landen und Städten, an welchen Ort des Königs Wort und Gebot gelangte, da war Freude und Wonne unter den Juden, Wohlleben und gute Tage, daß viele aus den Völkern im Lande Juden wurden; denn die Furcht vor den Juden war über sie gekommen.(D) Est 8:17 κατὰ πόλιν καὶ χώραν οὗ ἂν ἐξετέθη τὸ πρόσταγμα οὗ ἂν ἐξετέθη τὸ ἔκθεμα χαρὰ καὶ εὐφροσύνη τοῖς Ιουδαίοις κώθων καὶ εὐφροσύνη καὶ πολλοὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν περιετέμοντο καὶ ιουδάιζον διὰ τὸν φόβον τῶν Ιουδαίων(lxx) Est 8:17 And in every province and city, wherever the king's command and decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday.
