Today's Date: ======= Esther 4:1 ============ Est 4:1 When Mordecai learned all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city and wailed loudly and bitterly.(nasb) Est 4:1 Quæ cum audisset Mardochæus, scidit vestimenta sua, et indutus est sacco, spargens cinerem capiti: et in platea mediæ civitatis voce magna clamabat, ostendens amaritudinem animi sui,(vulgate) Esther 4:1 Luego que supo Mardoqueo todo lo que se había hecho, rasgó sus vestiduras, y se vistió de cilicio y de ceniza, y se fue por medio de la ciudad clamando con grande y amargo clamor.(E) Esther 4:1 Mardochée, ayant appris tout ce qui se passait, déchira ses vêtements, s'enveloppa d'un sac et se couvrit de cendre. Puis il alla au milieu de la ville en poussant avec force des cris amers,(F) Est 4:1 Da Mardochai erfuhr alles, was geschehen war, zerriß er seine Kleider und legte einen Sack an und Asche und ging hinaus mitten in die Stadt und schrie laut und kläglich.(D) Est 4:1 ὁ δὲ Μαρδοχαῖος ἐπιγνοὺς τὸ συντελούμενον διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνεδύσατο σάκκον καὶ κατεπάσατο σποδὸν καὶ ἐκπηδήσας διὰ τῆς πλατείας τῆς πόλεως ἐβόα φωνῇ μεγάλῃ αἴρεται ἔθνος μηδὲν ἠδικηκός(lxx) Est 4:1 When Mordecai learned all that had happened, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city. He cried out with a loud and bitter cry.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:2 ============ Est 4:2 He went as far as the king's gate, for no one was to enter the king's gate clothed in sackcloth.(nasb) Est 4:2 et hoc ejulatu usque ad fores palatii gradiens. Non enim erat licitum indutum sacco aulam regis intrare.(vulgate) Esther 4:2 Y vino hasta delante de la puerta del rey; porque no era lícito pasar adentro de la puerta del rey vestido de cilicio.(E) Esther 4:2 et se rendit jusqu'à la porte du roi, dont l'entrée était interdite à toute personne revêtue d'un sac.(F) Est 4:2 Und kam bis vor das Tor des Königs; denn es durfte niemand zu des Königs Tor eingehen, der einen Sack anhatte.(D) Est 4:2 καὶ ἦλθεν ἕως τῆς πύλης τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔστη οὐ γὰρ ἦν ἐξὸν αὐτῷ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν σάκκον ἔχοντι καὶ σποδόν(lxx) Est 4:2 He went as far as the front of the king's gate, for no one might enter the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:3 ============ Est 4:3 In each and every province where the command and decree of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping and wailing; and many lay on sackcloth and ashes.(nasb) Est 4:3 In omnibus quoque provinciis, oppidis, ac locis, ad quæ crudele regis dogma pervenerat, planctus ingens erat apud Judæos, jejunium, ululatus, et fletus, sacco et cinere multis pro strato utentibus.(vulgate) Esther 4:3 Y en cada provincia y lugar donde el mandamiento del rey y su decreto llegaba, [tenían] los judíos gran duelo, y ayuno, y lloro, y lamentación; cilicio y ceniza era la cama de muchos.(E) Esther 4:3 Dans chaque province, partout où arrivaient l'ordre du roi et son édit, il y eut une grande désolation parmi les Juifs; ils jeûnaient, pleuraient et se lamentaient, et beaucoup se couchaient sur le sac et la cendre.(F) Est 4:3 Und in allen Ländern, an welchen Ort des Königs Wort und Gebot gelangte, war ein großes Klagen unter den Juden, und viele fasteten, weinten trugen Leid und lagen in Säcken und in der Asche.(D) Est 4:3 καὶ ἐν πάσῃ χώρᾳ οὗ ἐξετίθετο τὰ γράμματα κραυγὴ καὶ κοπετὸς καὶ πένθος μέγα τοῖς Ιουδαίοις σάκκον καὶ σποδὸν ἔστρωσαν ἑαυτοῖς(lxx) Est 4:3 And in every province where the king's command and decree arrived, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:4 ============ Est 4:4 Then Esther's maidens and her eunuchs came and told her, and the queen writhed in great anguish. And she sent garments to clothe Mordecai that he might remove his sackcloth from him, but he did not accept them.(nasb) Est 4:4 Ingressæ autem sunt puellæ Esther et eunuchi, nuntiaveruntque ei. Quod audiens consternata est, et vestem misit, ut ablato sacco induerent eum: quam accipere noluit.(vulgate) Esther 4:4 Y vinieron las doncellas de Esther y sus eunucos y se lo dijeron; y la reina tuvo gran dolor, y envió vestiduras para hacer vestir a Mardoqueo, y hacerle quitar el cilicio de sobre él; mas él no las recibió.(E) Esther 4:4 Les servantes d'Esther et ses eunuques vinrent lui annoncer cela, et la reine fut très effrayée. Elle envoya des vêtements à Mardochée pour le couvrir et lui faire ôter son sac, mais il ne les accepta pas.(F) Est 4:4 Da kamen die Dirnen Est rs und ihre Kämmerer und sagten's ihr an. Da erschrak die Königin sehr. Und sie sandte Kleider, daß Mardochai sie anzöge und den Sack von sich legte; aber er nahm sie nicht.(D) Est 4:4 καὶ εἰσῆλθον αἱ ἅβραι καὶ οἱ εὐνοῦχοι τῆς βασιλίσσης καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν αὐτῇ καὶ ἐταράχθη ἀκούσασα τὸ γεγονὸς καὶ ἀπέστειλεν στολίσαι τὸν Μαρδοχαῖον καὶ ἀφελέσθαι αὐτοῦ τὸν σάκκον ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἐπείσθη(lxx) Est 4:4 So Esther's maids and eunuchs came and told her, and the queen was deeply distressed. Then she sent garments to clothe Mordecai and take his sackcloth away from him, but he would not accept them.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:5 ============ Est 4:5 Then Esther summoned Hathach from the king's eunuchs, whom the king had appointed to attend her, and ordered him to go to Mordecai to learn what this was and why it was.(nasb) Est 4:5 Accitoque Athach eunucho, quem rex ministrum ei dederat, præcepit ei ut iret ad Mardochæum, et disceret ab eo cur hoc faceret.(vulgate) Esther 4:5 Entonces Esther llamó a Atac, [uno] de los eunucos del rey, a quien él había asignado para atenderla, y lo mandó a Mardoqueo, para saber qué era aquello y por qué.(E) Esther 4:5 Alors Esther appela Hathac, l'un des eunuques que le roi avait placés auprès d'elle, et elle le chargea d'aller demander à Mardochée ce que c'était et d'où cela venait.(F) Est 4:5 Da rief Est r Hathach unter des Königs Kämmerern, der vor ihr stand, und gab ihm Befehl an Mardochai, daß sie erführe, was das wäre und warum er so täte.(D) Est 4:5 ἡ δὲ Εσθηρ προσεκαλέσατο Αχραθαῖον τὸν εὐνοῦχον αὐτῆς ὃς παρειστήκει αὐτῇ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν μαθεῖν αὐτῇ παρὰ τοῦ Μαρδοχαίου τὸ ἀκριβές(lxx) Est 4:5 Then Esther called Hathach, one of the king's eunuchs whom he had appointed to attend her, and she gave him a command concerning Mordecai, to learn what and why this was.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:6 ============ Est 4:6 So Hathach went out to Mordecai to the city square in front of the king's gate.(nasb) Est 4:6 Egressusque Athach, ivit ad Mardochæum stantem in platea civitatis, ante ostium palatii:(vulgate) Esther 4:6 Salió, pues, Atac a Mardoqueo, a la plaza de la ciudad que [estaba] delante de la puerta del rey.(E) Esther 4:6 Hathac se rendit vers Mardochée sur la place de la ville, devant la porte du roi.(F) Est 4:6 Da ging Hathach hinaus zu Mardochai in die Gasse der Stadt, die vor dem Tor des Königs war.(D) Est 4:6 --(lxx) Est 4:6 So Hathach went out to Mordecai in the city square that was in front of the king's gate.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:7 ============ Est 4:7 Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, and the exact amount of money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the destruction of the Jews.(nasb) Est 4:7 qui indicavit ei omnia quæ acciderant: quomodo Aman promisisset ut in thesauros regis pro Judæorum nece inferret argentum.(vulgate) Esther 4:7 Y Mardoqueo le declaró todo lo que le había acontecido, y de la suma de la plata que Amán había prometido que pagaría a los tesoros del rey por la destrucción de los judíos.(E) Esther 4:7 Et Mardochée lui raconta tout ce qui lui était arrivé, et lui indiqua la somme d'argent qu'Haman avait promis de livrer au trésor du roi en retour du massacre des Juifs.(F) Est 4:7 Und Mardochai sagte ihm alles, was ihm begegnet wäre, und die Summe des Silbers, das Haman versprochen hatte in des Königs Kammer darzuwägen um der Juden willen, sie zu vertilgen,(D) Est 4:7 ὁ δὲ Μαρδοχαῖος ὑπέδειξεν αὐτῷ τὸ γεγονὸς καὶ τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν ἣν ἐπηγγείλατο Αμαν τῷ βασιλεῖ εἰς τὴν γάζαν ταλάντων μυρίων ἵνα ἀπολέσῃ τοὺς Ιουδαίους(lxx) Est 4:7 And Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, and the sum of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king's treasuries to destroy the Jews.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:8 ============ Est 4:8 He also gave him a copy of the text of the edict which had been issued in Susa for their destruction, that he might show Esther and inform her, and to order her to go in to the king to implore his favor and to plead with him for her people.(nasb) Est 4:8 Exemplar quoque edicti, quod pendebat in Susan, dedit ei, ut reginæ ostenderet, et moneret eam ut intraret ad regem et deprecaretur eum pro populo suo.~(vulgate) Esther 4:8 También le dio la copia de la escritura del decreto que había sido dado en Susán para que fuesen destruidos, a fin de que la mostrara a Esther y se lo declarase, y le encargara que fuese al rey a suplicarle, y a pedir delante de él por su pueblo.(E) Esther 4:8 Il lui donna aussi une copie de l'édit publié dans Suse en vue de leur destruction, afin qu'il le montrât à Esther et lui fît tout connaître; et il ordonna qu'Esther se rendît chez le roi pour lui demander grâce et l'implorer en faveur de son peuple.(F) Est 4:8 und gab ihm die Abschrift des Gebots, das zu Susan angeschlagen war, sie zu vertilgen, daß er's Est r zeigte und ihr ansagte und geböte ihr, daß sie zum König hineinginge und flehte zu ihm und täte eine Bitte an ihn um ihr Volk.(D) Est 4:8 καὶ τὸ ἀντίγραφον τὸ ἐν Σούσοις ἐκτεθὲν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἀπολέσθαι αὐτοὺς ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ δεῖξαι τῇ Εσθηρ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἐντείλασθαι αὐτῇ εἰσελθούσῃ παραιτήσασθαι τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἀξιῶσαι αὐτὸν περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ μνησθεῖσα ἡμερῶν ταπεινώσεώς σου ὡς ἐτράφης ἐν χειρί μου διότι Αμαν ὁ δευτερεύων τῷ βασιλεῖ ἐλάλησεν καθ᾽ ἡμῶν εἰς θάνατον ἐπικάλεσαι τὸν κύριον καὶ λάλησον τῷ βασιλεῖ περὶ ἡμῶν καὶ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἐκ θανάτου(lxx) Est 4:8 He also gave him a copy of the written decree for their destruction, which was given at Shushan, that he might show it to Esther and explain it to her, and that he might command her to go in to the king to make supplication to him and plead before him for her people.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:9 ============ Est 4:9 Hathach came back and related Mordecai's words to Esther.(nasb) Est 4:9 Regressus Athach, nuntiavit Esther omnia quæ Mardochæus dixerat.(vulgate) Esther 4:9 Y vino Atac, y contó a Esther las palabras de Mardoqueo.(E) Esther 4:9 Hathac vint rapporter à Esther les paroles de Mardochée.(F) Est 4:9 Und da Hathach hineinkam und sagte Est r die Worte Mardochais,(D) Est 4:9 εἰσελθὼν δὲ ὁ Αχραθαῖος ἐλάλησεν αὐτῇ πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους(lxx) Est 4:9 So Hathach returned and told Esther the words of Mordecai.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:10 ============ Est 4:10 Then Esther spoke to Hathach and ordered him to reply to Mordecai:(nasb) Est 4:10 Quæ respondit ei, et jussit ut diceret Mardochæo:(vulgate) Esther 4:10 Entonces Esther habló a Atac, y le mandó decir a Mardoqueo:(E) Esther 4:10 Esther chargea Hathac d'aller dire à Mardochée:(F) Est 4:10 sprach Est r zu Hathach und gebot ihm an Mardochai:(D) Est 4:10 εἶπεν δὲ Εσθηρ πρὸς Αχραθαῖον πορεύθητι πρὸς Μαρδοχαῖον καὶ εἰπὸν ὅτι(lxx) Est 4:10 Then Esther spoke to Hathach, and gave him a command for Mordecai:(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:11 ============ Est 4:11 "All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that for any man or woman who comes to the king to the inner court who is not summoned, he has but one law, that he be put to death, unless the king holds out to him the golden scepter so that he may live. And I have not been summoned to come to the king for these thirty days."(nasb) Est 4:11 Omnes servi regis, et cunctæ, quæ sub ditione ejus sunt, norunt provinciæ, quod sive vir, sive mulier non vocatus, interius atrium regis intraverit, absque ulla cunctatione statim interficiatur: nisi forte rex auream virgam ad eum tetenderit pro signo clementiæ, atque ita possit vivere. Ego igitur quomodo ad regem intrare potero, quæ triginta jam diebus non sum vocata ad eum?(vulgate) Esther 4:11 Todos los siervos del rey, y el pueblo de las provincias del rey saben, que cualquier hombre o mujer que entra al rey al patio de adentro sin ser llamado, [hay] una sola ley para él: Debe morir; salvo aquel a quien el rey extendiere el cetro de oro, el cual vivirá; y yo no he sido llamada para entrar al rey estos treinta días.(E) Esther 4:11 Tous les serviteurs du roi et le peuple des provinces du roi savent qu'il existe une loi portant peine de mort contre quiconque, homme ou femme, entre chez le roi, dans la cour intérieure, sans avoir été appelé; celui-là seul a la vie sauve, à qui le roi tend le sceptre d'or. Et moi, je n'ai point été appelée auprès du roi depuis trente jours.(F) Est 4:11 Es wissen alle Knechte des Königs und das Volk in den Landen des Königs, daß, wer zum König hineingeht inwendig in den Hof, er sei Mann oder Weib, der nicht gerufen ist, der soll stracks nach dem Gebot sterben; es sei denn, daß der König das goldene Zepter gegen ihn recke, damit er lebendig bleibe. Ich aber bin nun in dreißig Tagen nicht gerufen, zum König hineinzukommen.(D) Est 4:11 τὰ ἔθνη πάντα τῆς βασιλείας γινώσκει ὅτι πᾶς ἄνθρωπος ἢ γυνή ὃς εἰσελεύσεται πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐσωτέραν ἄκλητος οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτῷ σωτηρία πλὴν ᾧ ἐκτείνει ὁ βασιλεὺς τὴν χρυσῆν ῥάβδον οὗτος σωθήσεται κἀγὼ οὐ κέκλημαι εἰσελθεῖν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰσὶν αὗται ἡμέραι τριάκοντα(lxx) Est 4:11 "All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that any man or woman who goes into the inner court to the king, who has not been called, he has but one law: put all to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter, that he may live. Yet I myself have not been called to go in to the king these thirty days."(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:12 ============ Est 4:12 They related Esther's words to Mordecai.(nasb) Est 4:12 Quod cum audisset Mardochæus,(vulgate) Esther 4:12 Y dijeron a Mardoqueo las palabras de Esther.(E) Esther 4:12 Lorsque les paroles d'Esther eurent été rapportées à Mardochée,(F) Est 4:12 Und da die Worte Est rs wurden Mardochai angesagt,(D) Est 4:12 καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν Αχραθαῖος Μαρδοχαίῳ πάντας τοὺς λόγους Εσθηρ(lxx) Est 4:12 So they told Mordecai Esther's words.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:13 ============ Est 4:13 Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, "Do not imagine that you in the king's palace can escape any more than all the Jews.(nasb) Est 4:13 rursum mandavit Esther, dicens: Ne putes quod animam tuam tantum liberes, quia in domo regis es præ cunctis Judæis:(vulgate) Esther 4:13 Entonces dijo Mardoqueo que respondiesen a Esther: No pienses en tu alma, que escaparás en la casa del rey más que todos los judíos.(E) Esther 4:13 Mardochée fit répondre à Esther: Ne t'imagine pas que tu échapperas seule d'entre tous les Juifs, parce que tu es dans la maison du roi;(F) Est 4:13 hieß Mardochai Est r wieder sagen: Gedenke nicht, daß du dein Leben errettest, weil du im Hause des Königs bist, vor allen Juden;(D) Est 4:13 καὶ εἶπεν Μαρδοχαῖος πρὸς Αχραθαῖον πορεύθητι καὶ εἰπὸν αὐτῇ Εσθηρ μὴ εἴπῃς σεαυτῇ ὅτι σωθήσῃ μόνη ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ παρὰ πάντας τοὺς Ιουδαίους(lxx) Est 4:13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: "Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king's palace any more than all the other Jews.(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:14 ============ Est 4:14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?"(nasb) Est 4:14 si enim nunc silueris, per aliam occasionem liberabuntur Judæi: et tu, et domus patris tui, peribitis. Et quis novit utrum idcirco ad regnum veneris, ut in tali tempore parareris?(vulgate) Esther 4:14 Porque si callas absolutamente en este tiempo, respiro y liberación se levantará para los judíos de otro lugar; mas tú y la casa de tu padre pereceréis. ¿Y quién sabe si has llegado al reino, para un tiempo como éste?(E) Esther 4:14 car, si tu te tais maintenant, le secours et la délivrance surgiront d'autre part pour les Juifs, et toi et la maison de ton père vous périrez. Et qui sait si ce n'est pas pour un temps comme celui-ci que tu es parvenue à la royauté?(F) Est 4:14 denn wo du wirst zu dieser Zeit schweigen, so wird eine Hilfe und Errettung von einem andern Ort her den Juden entstehen, und du und deines Vaters Haus werdet umkommen. Und wer weiß, ob du nicht um dieser Zeit willen zur königlichen Würde gekommen bist?(D) Est 4:14 ὡς ὅτι ἐὰν παρακούσῃς ἐν τούτῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἄλλοθεν βοήθεια καὶ σκέπη ἔσται τοῖς Ιουδαίοις σὺ δὲ καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ πατρός σου ἀπολεῖσθε καὶ τίς οἶδεν εἰ εἰς τὸν καιρὸν τοῦτον ἐβασίλευσας(lxx) Est 4:14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:15 ============ Est 4:15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai,(nasb) Est 4:15 Rursumque Esther hæc Mardochæo verba mandavit:(vulgate) Esther 4:15 Y Esther dijo que respondiesen a Mardoqueo:(E) Esther 4:15 Esther envoya dire à Mardochée:(F) Est 4:15 Est r hieß Mardochai antworten:(D) Est 4:15 καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν Εσθηρ τὸν ἥκοντα πρὸς αὐτὴν πρὸς Μαρδοχαῖον λέγουσα(lxx) Est 4:15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai:(nkjv) ======= Esther 4:16 ============ Est 4:16 "Go, assemble all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maidens also will fast in the same way. And thus I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish."(nasb) Est 4:16 Vade, et congrega omnes Judæos quos in Susan repereris, et orate pro me. Non comedatis et non bibatis tribus diebus et tribus noctibus: et ego cum ancillis meis similiter jejunabo, et tunc ingrediar ad regem contra legem faciens, non vocata, tradensque me morti et periculo.(vulgate) Esther 4:16 Ve y reune a todos los judíos que se hallan en Susán, y ayunad por mí, y no comáis ni bebáis en tres días, noche y día; yo también con mis doncellas ayunaré igualmente, y así entraré al rey, aunque no sea conforme a la ley; y si perezco, que perezca.(E) Esther 4:16 Va, rassemble tous les Juifs qui se trouvent à Suse, et jeûnez pour moi, sans manger ni boire pendant trois jours, ni la nuit ni le jour. Moi aussi, je jeûnerai de même avec mes servantes, puis j'entrerai chez le roi, malgré la loi; et si je dois périr, je périrai.(F) Est 4:16 So gehe hin und versammle alle Juden, die zu Susan vorhanden sind, und fastet für mich, daß ihr nicht esset und trinket in drei Tagen, weder Tag noch Nacht; ich und meine Dirnen wollen auch also fasten. Und ich will zum König hineingehen wider das Gebot; komme ich um, so komme ich um.(D) Est 4:16 βαδίσας ἐκκλησίασον τοὺς Ιουδαίους τοὺς ἐν Σούσοις καὶ νηστεύσατε ἐπ᾽ ἐμοὶ καὶ μὴ φάγητε μηδὲ πίητε ἐπὶ ἡμέρας τρεῖς νύκτα καὶ ἡμέραν κἀγὼ δὲ καὶ αἱ ἅβραι μου ἀσιτήσομεν καὶ τότε εἰσελεύσομαι πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα παρὰ τὸν νόμον ἐὰν καὶ ἀπολέσθαι με ᾖ(lxx) Est 4:16 "Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise.
