Today's Date: ======= Esther 3:1 ============ Est 3:1 After these events King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and established his authority over all the princes who were with him.(nasb) Est 3:1 Post hæc rex Assuerus exaltavit Aman filium Amadathi, qui erat de stirpe Agag: et posuit solium ejus super omnes principes quos habebat.(vulgate) Esther 3:1 Después de estas cosas, el rey Asuero engrandeció a Amán, hijo de Amadata agageo, y lo enalteció, y puso su silla sobre todos los príncipes que [estaban] con él.(E) Esther 3:1 Après ces choses, le roi Assuérus fit monter au pouvoir Haman, fils d'Hammedatha, l'Agaguite; il l'éleva en dignité et plaça son siège au-dessus de ceux de tous les chefs qui étaient auprès de lui.(F) Est 3:1 Nach diesen Geschichten machte der König Ahasveros Haman groß, den Sohn Hammedathas, den Agagiter, und erhöhte ihn und setzte seinen Stuhl über alle Fürsten, die bei ihm waren.(D) Est 3:1 μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα ἐδόξασεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀρταξέρξης Αμαν Αμαδαθου Βουγαῖον καὶ ὕψωσεν αὐτόν καὶ ἐπρωτοβάθρει πάντων τῶν φίλων αὐτοῦ(lxx) Est 3:1 After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:2 ============ Est 3:2 All the king's servants who were at the king's gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman; for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage.(nasb) Est 3:2 Cunctique servi regis, qui in foribus palatii versabantur, flectebant genua, et adorabant Aman: sic enim præceperat eis imperator: solus Mardochæus non flectebat genu, neque adorabat eum.(vulgate) Esther 3:2 Y todos los siervos del rey que [estaban] a la puerta del rey, se arrodillaban e inclinaban a Amán, porque así lo había mandado el rey; pero Mardoqueo, ni se arrodillaba ni se humillaba.(E) Esther 3:2 Tous les serviteurs du roi, qui se tenaient à la porte du roi, fléchissaient le genou et se prosternaient devant Haman, car tel était l'ordre du roi à son égard. Mais Mardochée ne fléchissait point le genou et ne se prosternait point.(F) Est 3:2 Und alle Knechte des Königs, die im Tor waren, beugten die Kniee und fielen vor Haman nieder; denn der König hatte es also geboten. Aber Mardochai beugte die Kniee nicht und fiel nicht nieder.(D) Est 3:2 καὶ πάντες οἱ ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ προσεκύνουν αὐτῷ οὕτως γὰρ προσέταξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ποιῆσαι ὁ δὲ Μαρδοχαῖος οὐ προσεκύνει αὐτῷ(lxx) Est 3:2 And all the king's servants who were within the king's gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:3 ============ Est 3:3 Then the king's servants who were at the king's gate said to Mordecai, "Why are you transgressing the king's command?"(nasb) Est 3:3 Cui dixerunt pueri regis, qui ad fores palatii præsidebant: Cur præter ceteros non observas mandatum regis?(vulgate) Esther 3:3 Y los siervos del rey que [estaban] a la puerta, dijeron a Mardoqueo: ¿Por qué traspasas el mandamiento del rey?(E) Esther 3:3 Et les serviteurs du roi, qui se tenaient à la porte du roi, dirent à Mardochée: Pourquoi transgresses-tu l'ordre du roi?(F) Est 3:3 Da sprachen des Königs Knechte, die im Tor des Königs waren, zu Mardochai: Warum übertrittst du des Königs Gebot?(D) Est 3:3 καὶ ἐλάλησαν οἱ ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τοῦ βασιλέως τῷ Μαρδοχαίῳ Μαρδοχαῖε τί παρακούεις τὰ ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως λεγόμενα(lxx) Est 3:3 Then the king's servants who were within the king's gate said to Mordecai, "Why do you transgress the king's command?"(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:4 ============ Est 3:4 Now it was when they had spoken daily to him and he would not listen to them, that they told Haman to see whether Mordecai's reason would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew.(nasb) Est 3:4 Cumque hoc crebrius dicerent, et ille nollet audire, nuntiaverunt Aman, scire cupientes utrum perseveraret in sententia: dixerat enim eis se esse Judæum.(vulgate) Esther 3:4 Y aconteció que, hablándole cada día de esta manera, y no escuchándolos él, lo denunciaron a Amán, para ver si las palabras de Mardoqueo se mantendrían firmes; porque ya él les había declarado que [era] judío.(E) Esther 3:4 Comme ils le lui répétaient chaque jour et qu'il ne les écoutait pas, ils en firent rapport à Haman, pour voir si Mardochée persisterait dans sa résolution; car il leur avait dit qu'il était Juif.(F) Est 3:4 Und da sie solches täglich zu ihm sagten und er ihnen nicht gehorchte, sagten sie es Haman an, daß sie sähen, ob solch Tun Mardochais bestehen würde; denn er hatte ihnen gesagt, daß er ein Jude wäre.(D) Est 3:4 καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν ἐλάλουν αὐτῷ καὶ οὐχ ὑπήκουεν αὐτῶν καὶ ὑπέδειξαν τῷ Αμαν Μαρδοχαῖον τοῖς τοῦ βασιλέως λόγοις ἀντιτασσόμενον καὶ ὑπέδειξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Μαρδοχαῖος ὅτι Ιουδαῖός ἐστιν(lxx) Est 3:4 Now it happened, when they spoke to him daily and he would not listen to them, that they told it to Haman, to see whether Mordecai's words would stand; for Mordecai had told them that he was a Jew.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:5 ============ Est 3:5 When Haman saw that Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage to him, Haman was filled with rage.(nasb) Est 3:5 Quod cum audisset Aman, et experimento probasset quod Mardochæus non flecteret sibi genu, nec se adoraret, iratus est valde,(vulgate) Esther 3:5 Y vio Amán que Mardoqueo ni se arrodillaba ni se humillaba delante de él; y se llenó de ira.(E) Esther 3:5 Et Haman vit que Mardochée ne fléchissait point le genou et ne se prosternait point devant lui. Il fut rempli de fureur;(F) Est 3:5 Und da nun Haman sah, daß Mardochai ihm nicht die Kniee beugte noch vor ihm niederfiel, ward er voll Grimms.(D) Est 3:5 καὶ ἐπιγνοὺς Αμαν ὅτι οὐ προσκυνεῖ αὐτῷ Μαρδοχαῖος ἐθυμώθη σφόδρα(lxx) Est 3:5 When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:6 ============ Est 3:6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him who the people of Mordecai were; therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.(nasb) Est 3:6 et pro nihilo duxit in unum Mardochæum mittere manus suas: audierat enim quod esset gentis Judææ; magisque voluit omnem Judæorum, qui erant in regno Assueri, perdere nationem.~(vulgate) Esther 3:6 Pero tuvo en poco meter mano sólo en Mardoqueo; pues ya le habían declarado el pueblo de Mardoqueo; y procuró Amán destruir a todos los judíos que [había] en el reino de Asuero, al pueblo de Mardoqueo.(E) Esther 3:6 mais il dédaigna de porter la main sur Mardochée seul, car on lui avait dit de quel peuple était Mardochée, et il voulut détruire le peuple de Mardochée, tous les Juifs qui se trouvaient dans tout le royaume d'Assuérus.(F) Est 3:6 Und verachtete es, daß er an Mardochai allein sollte die Hand legen, denn sie hatten ihm das Volk Mardochais angesagt; sondern er trachtete, das Volk Mardochais, alle Juden, so im ganzen Königreich des Ahasveros waren, zu vertilgen.(D) Est 3:6 καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο ἀφανίσαι πάντας τοὺς ὑπὸ τὴν Ἀρταξέρξου βασιλείαν Ιουδαίους(lxx) Est 3:6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him of the people of Mordecai. Instead, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus--the people of Mordecai.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:7 ============ Est 3:7 In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, Pur, that is the lot, was cast before Haman from day to day and from month to month, until the twelfth month, that is the month Adar.(nasb) Est 3:7 Mense primo (cujus vocabulum est Nisan), anno duodecimo regni Assueri, missa est sors in urnam, quæ hebraice dicitur phur, coram Aman, quo die et quo mense gens Judæorum deberet interfici: et exivit mensis duodecimus, qui vocatur Adar.(vulgate) Esther 3:7 En el mes primero, que [es] el mes de Nisán, en el año duodécimo del rey Asuero, fue echada Pur, esto es, la suerte, delante de Amán, de día en día y de mes en mes hasta el [mes] duodécimo, que [es] el mes de Adar.(E) Esther 3:7 Au premier mois, qui est le mois de Nisan, la douzième année du roi Assuérus, on jeta le pur, c'est-à-dire le sort, devant Haman, pour chaque jour et pour chaque mois, jusqu'au douzième mois, qui est le mois d'Adar.(F) Est 3:7 Im ersten Monat, das ist der Monat Nisan, im zwölften Jahr des Königs Ahasveros, ward das Pur, das ist das Los, geworfen vor Haman, von einem Tage auf den andern und von Monat zu Monat bis auf den zwölften, das ist der Monat Adar.(D) Est 3:7 καὶ ἐποίησεν ψήφισμα ἐν ἔτει δωδεκάτῳ τῆς βασιλείας Ἀρταξέρξου καὶ ἔβαλεν κλήρους ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας καὶ μῆνα ἐκ μηνὸς ὥστε ἀπολέσαι ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ τὸ γένος Μαρδοχαίου καὶ ἔπεσεν ὁ κλῆρος εἰς τὴν τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτην τοῦ μηνός ὅς ἐστιν Αδαρ(lxx) Est 3:7 In the first month, which is the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur (that is, the lot), before Haman to determine the day and the month, until it fell on the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:8 ============ Est 3:8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, "There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from those of all other people and they do not observe the king's laws, so it is not in the king's interest to let them remain.(nasb) Est 3:8 Dixitque Aman regi Assuero: Est populus per omnes provincias regni tui dispersus, et a se mutuo separatus, novis utens legibus et cæremoniis, insuper et regis scita contemnens: et optime nosti quod non expediat regno tuo ut insolescat per licentiam.(vulgate) Esther 3:8 Y dijo Amán al rey Asuero: Hay un pueblo esparcido y dividido entre los pueblos en todas las provincias de tu reino, y sus leyes [son] diferentes de las de todo pueblo, y no observan las leyes del rey; y al rey nada le beneficia el dejarlos [vivir].(E) Esther 3:8 Alors Haman dit au roi Assuérus: Il y a dans toutes les provinces de ton royaume un peuple dispersé et à part parmi les peuples, ayant des lois différentes de celles de tous les peuples et n'observant point les lois du roi. Il n'est pas dans l'intérêt du roi de le laisser en repos.(F) Est 3:8 Und Haman sprach zum König Ahasveros: Es ist ein Volk, zerstreut in allen Ländern deines Königreichs, und ihr Gesetz ist anders denn aller Völker, und tun nicht nach des Königs Gesetzen; es ziemt dem König nicht, sie also zu lassen.(D) Est 3:8 καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ἀρταξέρξην λέγων ὑπάρχει ἔθνος διεσπαρμένον ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ βασιλείᾳ σου οἱ δὲ νόμοι αὐτῶν ἔξαλλοι παρὰ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τῶν δὲ νόμων τοῦ βασιλέως παρακούουσιν καὶ οὐ συμφέρει τῷ βασιλεῖ ἐᾶσαι αὐτούς(lxx) Est 3:8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, "There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people's, and they do not keep the king's laws. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them remain.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:9 ============ Est 3:9 If it is pleasing to the king, let it be decreed that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who carry on the king's business, to put into the king's treasuries."(nasb) Est 3:9 Si tibi placet, decerne, ut pereat, et decem millia talentorum appendam arcariis gazæ tuæ.(vulgate) Esther 3:9 Si le place al rey, escríbase que sean destruidos; y yo pesaré diez mil talentos de plata en manos de los que manejan la hacienda, para que sean traídos a los tesoros del rey.(E) Esther 3:9 Si le roi le trouve bon, qu'on écrive l'ordre de les faire périr; et je pèserai dix mille talents d'argent entre les mains des fonctionnaires, pour qu'on les porte dans le trésor du roi.(F) Est 3:9 Gefällt es dem König, so lasse er schreiben, daß man sie umbringe; so will ich zehntausend Zentner Silber darwägen unter die Hand der Amtleute, daß man's bringt in die Kammer des Königs.(D) Est 3:9 εἰ δοκεῖ τῷ βασιλεῖ δογματισάτω ἀπολέσαι αὐτούς κἀγὼ διαγράψω εἰς τὸ γαζοφυλάκιον τοῦ βασιλέως ἀργυρίου τάλαντα μύρια(lxx) Est 3:9 If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king's treasuries."(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:10 ============ Est 3:10 Then the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.(nasb) Est 3:10 Tulit ergo rex annulum, quo utebatur, de manu sua, et dedit eum Aman filio Amadathi de progenie Agag, hosti Judæorum,(vulgate) Esther 3:10 Entonces el rey quitó su anillo de su mano, y lo dio a Amán, hijo de Amadata agageo, enemigo de los judíos,(E) Esther 3:10 Le roi ôta son anneau de la main, et le remit à Haman, fils d'Hammedatha, l'Agaguite, ennemi des Juifs.(F) Est 3:10 Da tat der König seinen Ring von der Hand und gab ihn Haman, dem Sohn Hammadathas, dem Agagiter, der Juden Feind.(D) Est 3:10 καὶ περιελόμενος ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν δακτύλιον ἔδωκεν εἰς χεῖρα τῷ Αμαν σφραγίσαι κατὰ τῶν γεγραμμένων κατὰ τῶν Ιουδαίων(lxx) Est 3:10 So the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:11 ============ Est 3:11 The king said to Haman, "The silver is yours, and the people also, to do with them as you please."(nasb) Est 3:11 dixitque ad eum: Argentum, quod tu polliceris, tuum sit; de populo age quod tibi placet.(vulgate) Esther 3:11 y le dijo: La plata propuesta [sea] para ti, y asimismo el pueblo, para que hagas de él lo que bien te pareciere.(E) Esther 3:11 Et le roi dit à Haman: L'argent t'est donné, et ce peuple aussi; fais-en ce que tu voudras.(F) Est 3:11 Und der König sprach zu Haman: Das Silber sei dir gegeben, dazu das Volk, daß du damit tust, was dir gefällt.(D) Est 3:11 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ Αμαν τὸ μὲν ἀργύριον ἔχε τῷ δὲ ἔθνει χρῶ ὡς βούλει(lxx) Est 3:11 And the king said to Haman, "The money and the people are given to you, to do with them as seems good to you."(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:12 ============ Est 3:12 Then the king's scribes were summoned on the thirteenth day of the first month, and it was written just as Haman commanded to the king's satraps, to the governors who were over each province and to the princes of each people, each province according to its script, each people according to its language, being written in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king's signet ring.(nasb) Est 3:12 Vocatique sunt scribæ regis mense primo Nisan, tertiadecima die ejusdem mensis: et scriptum est, ut jusserat Aman, ad omnes satrapas regis, et judices provinciarum, diversarumque gentium, ut quæque gens legere poterat et audire pro varietate linguarum ex nomine regis Assueri: et litteræ signatæ ipsius annulo(vulgate) Esther 3:12 Entonces fueron llamados los escribanos del rey en el mes primero, a trece del mismo, y fue escrito conforme a todo lo que mandó Amán, a los príncipes del rey, y a los capitanes que [estaban] sobre cada provincia, y a los príncipes de cada pueblo, a cada provincia según su lenguaje, y a cada pueblo según su lengua; en nombre del rey Asuero fue escrito, y sellado con el anillo del rey.(E) Esther 3:12 Les secrétaires du roi furent appelés le treizième jour du premier mois, et l'on écrivit, suivant tout ce qui fut ordonné par Haman, aux satrapes du roi, aux gouverneurs de chaque province et aux chefs de chaque peuple, à chaque province selon son écriture et à chaque peuple selon sa langue. Ce fut au nom du roi Assuérus que l'on écrivit, et on scella avec l'anneau du roi.(F) Est 3:12 Da rief man die Schreiber des Königs am dreizehnten Tage des ersten Monats; und ward geschrieben, wie Haman befahl, an die Fürsten des Königs und zu den Landpflegern hin und her in den Ländern und zu den Hauptleuten eines jeglichen Volks in den Ländern hin und her, nach der Schrift eines jeglichen Volks und nach ihrer Sprache, im Namen des Königs Ahasveros und mit des Königs Ring versiegelt.(D) Est 3:12 καὶ ἐκλήθησαν οἱ γραμματεῖς τοῦ βασιλέως μηνὶ πρώτῳ τῇ τρισκαιδεκάτῃ καὶ ἔγραψαν ὡς ἐπέταξεν Αμαν τοῖς στρατηγοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν κατὰ πᾶσαν χώραν ἀπὸ Ἰνδικῆς ἕως τῆς Αἰθιοπίας ταῖς ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι ἑπτὰ χώραις τοῖς τε ἄρχουσι τῶν ἐθνῶν κατὰ τὴν αὐτῶν λέξιν δι᾽ Ἀρταξέρξου τοῦ βασιλέως(lxx) Est 3:12 Then the king's scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and a decree was written according to all that Haman commanded--to the king's satraps, to the governors who were over each province, to the officials of all people, to every province according to its script, and to every people in their language. In the name of King Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king's signet ring.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:13 ============ Est 3:13 Letters were sent by couriers to all the king's provinces to destroy, to kill and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to seize their possessions as plunder.(nasb) Est 3:13 missæ sunt per cursores regis ad universas provincias, ut occiderent atque delerent omnes Judæos, a puero usque ad senem, parvulos et mulieres, uno die, hoc est tertiodecimo mensis duodecimi, qui vocatur Adar; et bona eorum diriperent.(vulgate) Esther 3:13 Y fueron enviadas cartas por medio de los correos a todas las provincias del rey, para destruir, y matar, y exterminar a todos los judíos, jóvenes y ancianos, niños y mujeres, en un [mismo] día, en el [día] trece del mes duodécimo, que [es] el mes de Adar, y para apoderarse de su despojo.(E) Esther 3:13 Les lettres furent envoyées par les courriers dans toutes les provinces du roi, pour qu'on détruisît, qu'on tuât et qu'on fît périr tous les Juifs, jeunes et vieux, petits enfants et femmes, en un seul jour, le treizième du douzième mois, qui est le mois d'Adar, et pour que leurs biens fussent livrés au pillage.(F) Est 3:13 Und die Briefe wurden gesandt durch die Läufer in alle Länder des Königs, zu vertilgen, zu erwürgen und umzubringen alle Juden, jung und alt, Kinder und Weiber, auf einen Tag, nämlich auf den dreizehnten Tag des zwölften Monats, das ist der Monat Adar, und ihr Gut zu rauben.(D) Est 3:13 καὶ ἀπεστάλη διὰ βιβλιαφόρων εἰς τὴν Ἀρταξέρξου βασιλείαν ἀφανίσαι τὸ γένος τῶν Ιουδαίων ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ μηνὸς δωδεκάτου ὅς ἐστιν Αδαρ καὶ διαρπάσαι τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν Est 3:13 And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:14 ============ Est 3:14 A copy of the edict to be issued as law in every province was published to all the peoples so that they should be ready for this day.(nasb) Est 3:14 Summa autem epistolarum hæc fuit, ut omnes provinciæ scirent, et pararent se ad prædictam diem.(vulgate) Esther 3:14 La copia del escrito por mandamiento para ser dada en cada provincia, fue publicada a todos los pueblos, a fin de que estuviesen apercibidos para aquel día.(E) Esther 3:14 Ces lettres renfermaient une copie de l'édit qui devait être publié dans chaque province, et invitaient tous les peuples à se tenir prêts pour ce jour-là.(F) Est 3:14 Also war der Inhalt der Schrift: daß ein Gebot gegeben wäre in allen Ländern, allen Völkern zu eröffnen, daß sie auf denselben Tag bereit wären.(D) Est 3:14 τὰ δὲ ἀντίγραφα τῶν ἐπιστολῶν ἐξετίθετο κατὰ χώραν καὶ προσετάγη πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἑτοίμους εἶναι εἰς τὴν ἡμέραν ταύτην(lxx) Est 3:14 A copy of the document was to be issued as law in every province, being published for all people, that they should be ready for that day.(nkjv) ======= Esther 3:15 ============ Est 3:15 The couriers went out impelled by the king's command while the decree was issued at the citadel in Susa; and while the king and Haman sat down to drink, the city of Susa was in confusion.(nasb) Est 3:15 Festinabant cursores, qui missi erant, regis imperium explere. Statimque in Susan pependit edictum, rege et Aman celebrante convivium, et cunctis Judæis, qui in urbe erant, flentibus.(vulgate) Esther 3:15 Y salieron los correos de prisa por mandato del rey, y el edicto fue dado en Susán, capital del reino. Y el rey y Amán se sentaron a beber, y la ciudad de Susán estaba conmovida.(E) Esther 3:15 Les courriers partirent en toute hâte, d'après l'ordre du roi. L'édit fut aussi publié dans Suse, la capitale; et tandis que le roi et Haman étaient à boire, la ville de Suse était dans la consternation.(F) Est 3:15 Und die Läufer gingen aus eilend nach des Königs Wort, und zu Schloß Susan ward das Gebot angeschlagen.
