les commandants de l'armée des Perses et des Mèdes, les grands et les chefs des provinces furent réunis en sa présence.(F) Est 1:3 im dritten Jahr seines Königreichs, machte er bei sich ein Mahl allen seinen Fürsten und Knechten, den Gewaltigen in Persien und Medien, den Landpflegern und Obersten in seinen Ländern,(D) Est 1:3 ἐν τῷ τρίτῳ ἔτει βασιλεύοντος αὐτοῦ δοχὴν ἐποίησεν τοῖς φίλοις καὶ τοῖς λοιποῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ τοῖς Περσῶν καὶ Μήδων ἐνδόξοις καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν τῶν σατραπῶν(lxx) Est 1:3 that in the third year of his reign he made a feast for all his officials and servants--the powers of Persia and Media, the nobles, and the princes of the provinces being before him--(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:4 ============ Est 1:4 And he displayed the riches of his royal glory and the splendor of his great majesty for many days, 180 days.(nasb) Est 1:4 ut ostenderet divitias gloriæ regni sui, ac magnitudinem atque jactantiam potentiæ suæ, multo tempore, centum videlicet et octoginta diebus.(vulgate) Esther 1:4 para mostrar él las riquezas de la gloria de su reino, y el esplendor de su gloriosa majestad, por muchos días, ciento ochenta días.(E) Esther 1:4 Il montra la splendide richesse de son royaume et l'éclatante magnificence de sa grandeur pendant nombre de jours, pendant cent quatre-vingts jours.(F) Est 1:4 daß er sehen ließe den herrlichen Reichtum seines Königreichs und die köstliche Pracht seiner Majestät viele Tage lang, hundert und achtzig Tage.(D) Est 1:4 καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα μετὰ τὸ δεῖξαι αὐτοῖς τὸν πλοῦτον τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν δόξαν τῆς εὐφροσύνης τοῦ πλούτου αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ ἡμέρας ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα(lxx) Est 1:4 when he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendor of his excellent majesty for many days, one hundred and eighty days in all.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:5 ============ Est 1:5 When these days were completed, the king gave a banquet lasting seven days for all the people who were present at the citadel in Susa, from the greatest to the least, in the court of the garden of the king's palace.(nasb) Est 1:5 Cumque implerentur dies convivii, invitavit omnem populum, qui inventus est in Susan, a maximo usque ad minimum: et jussit septem diebus convivium præparari in vestibulo horti, et nemoris quod regio cultu et manu consitum erat.(vulgate) Esther 1:5 Y cumplidos estos días, el rey hizo un banquete por siete días en el patio del huerto del palacio real para todo el pueblo, desde el mayor hasta el menor que se hallaba en Susán capital del reino.(E) Esther 1:5 Lorsque ces jours furent écoulés, le roi fit pour tout le peuple qui se trouvait à Suse, la capitale, depuis le plus grand jusqu'au plus petit, un festin qui dura sept jours, dans la cour du jardin de la maison royale.(F) Est 1:5 Und da die Tage aus waren, machte der König ein Mahl allem Volk, das zu Schloß Susan war, Großen und Kleinen, sieben Tage lang im Hofe des Gartens am Hause des Königs.(D) Est 1:5 ὅτε δὲ ἀνεπληρώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ γάμου ἐποίησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πότον τοῖς ἔθνεσιν τοῖς εὑρεθεῖσιν εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἐπὶ ἡμέρας ἓξ ἐν αὐλῇ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως(lxx) Est 1:5 And when these days were completed, the king made a feast lasting seven days for all the people who were present in Shushan the citadel, from great to small, in the court of the garden of the king's palace.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:6 ============ Est 1:6 There were hangings of fine white and violet linen held by cords of fine purple linen on silver rings and marble columns, and couches of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of porphyry, marble, mother-of-pearl and precious stones.(nasb) Est 1:6 Et pendebant ex omni parte tentoria ærii coloris et carbasini ac hyacinthini, sustentata funibus byssinis atque purpureis, qui eburneis circulis inserti erant, et columnis marmoreis fulciebantur. Lectuli quoque aurei et argentei, super pavimentum smaragdino et pario stratum lapide, dispositi erant: quod mira varietate pictura decorabat.(vulgate) Esther 1:6 [El pabellón era] de blanco, verde y azul, atado por cordones de lino y púrpura a anillos de plata y a columnas de mármol; los reclinatorios de oro y de plata, sobre losado de pórfido y de mármol, y de alabastro y de jacinto.(E) Esther 1:6 Des tentures blanches, vertes et bleues, étaient attachées par des cordons de byssus et de pourpre à des anneaux d'argent et à des colonnes de marbre. Des lits d'or et d'argent reposaient sur un pavé de porphyre, de marbre, de nacre et de pierres noires.(F) Est 1:6 Da hingen weiße, rote und blaue Tücher, mit leinenen und scharlachnen Seilen gefaßt, in silbernen Ringen auf Marmorsäulen. Die Bänke waren golden und silbern auf Pflaster von grünem, weißem, gelbem und schwarzen Marmor.(D) Est 1:6 κεκοσμημένῃ βυσσίνοις καὶ καρπασίνοις τεταμένοις ἐπὶ σχοινίοις βυσσίνοις καὶ πορφυροῖς ἐπὶ κύβοις χρυσοῖς καὶ ἀργυροῖς ἐπὶ στύλοις παρίνοις καὶ λιθίνοις κλῖναι χρυσαῖ καὶ ἀργυραῖ ἐπὶ λιθοστρώτου σμαραγδίτου λίθου καὶ πιννίνου καὶ παρίνου λίθου καὶ στρωμναὶ διαφανεῖς ποικίλως διηνθισμέναι κύκλῳ ῥόδα πεπασμένα(lxx) Est 1:6 There were white and blue linen curtains fastened with cords of fine linen and purple on silver rods and marble pillars; and the couches were of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of alabaster, turquoise, and white and black marble.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:7 ============ Est 1:7 Drinks were served in golden vessels of various kinds, and the royal wine was plentiful according to the king's bounty.(nasb) Est 1:7 Bibebant autem qui invitati erant aureis poculis, et aliis atque aliis vasis cibi inferebantur. Vinum quoque, ut magnificentia regia dignum erat, abundans, et præcipuum ponebatur.(vulgate) Esther 1:7 Y daban a beber en vasos de oro, y vasos diferentes unos de otros, y mucho vino real, conforme a la generosidad del rey.(E) Esther 1:7 On servait à boire dans des vases d'or, de différentes espèces, et il y avait abondance de vin royal, grâce à la libéralité du roi.(F) Est 1:7 Und das Getränk trug man in goldenen Gefäßen und immer andern und andern Gefäßen, und königlichen Wein die Menge, wie denn der König vermochte.(D) Est 1:7 ποτήρια χρυσᾶ καὶ ἀργυρᾶ καὶ ἀνθράκινον κυλίκιον προκείμενον ἀπὸ ταλάντων τρισμυρίων οἶνος πολὺς καὶ ἡδύς ὃν αὐτὸς ὁ βασιλεὺς ἔπινεν(lxx) Est 1:7 And they served drinks in golden vessels, each vessel being different from the other, with royal wine in abundance, according to the generosity of the king.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:8 ============ Est 1:8 The drinking was done according to the law, there was no compulsion, for so the king had given orders to each official of his household that he should do according to the desires of each person.(nasb) Est 1:8 Nec erat qui nolentes cogeret ad bibendum, sed sicut rex statuerat, præponens mensis singulos de principibus suis ut sumeret unusquisque quod vellet.(vulgate) Esther 1:8 Y la bebida [era] según la ley: Sin ninguna obligación; porque así lo había mandado el rey a todos los mayordomos de su casa; que se hiciese según la voluntad de cada uno.(E) Esther 1:8 Mais on ne forçait personne à boire, car le roi avait ordonné à tous les gens de sa maison de se conformer à la volonté de chacun.(F) Est 1:8 Und man setzte niemand, was er trinken sollte; denn der König hatte allen Vorstehern befohlen, daß ein jeglicher sollte tun, wie es ihm wohl gefiel.(D) Est 1:8 ὁ δὲ πότος οὗτος οὐ κατὰ προκείμενον νόμον ἐγένετο οὕτως δὲ ἠθέλησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐπέταξεν τοῖς οἰκονόμοις ποιῆσαι τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων(lxx) Est 1:8 In accordance with the law, the drinking was not compulsory; for so the king had ordered all the officers of his household, that they should do according to each man's pleasure.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:9 ============ Est 1:9 Queen Vashti also gave a banquet for the women in the palace which belonged to King Ahasuerus.(nasb) Est 1:9 Vasthi quoque regina fecit convivium feminarum in palatio, ubi rex Assuerus manere consueverat.~(vulgate) Esther 1:9 Asimismo la reina Vasti hizo un banquete para las mujeres, [en] la casa real del rey Asuero.(E) Esther 1:9 La reine Vasthi fit aussi un festin pour les femmes dans la maison royale du roi Assuérus.(F) Est 1:9 Und die Königin Vasthi machte auch ein Mahl für die Weiber im königlichen Hause des Königs Ahasveros.(D) Est 1:9 καὶ Αστιν ἡ βασίλισσα ἐποίησε πότον ταῖς γυναιξὶν ἐν τοῖς βασιλείοις ὅπου ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀρταξέρξης(lxx) Est 1:9 Queen Vashti also made a feast for the women in the royal palace which belonged to King Ahasuerus.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:10 ============ Est 1:10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and Carkas, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus,(nasb) Est 1:10 Itaque die septimo, cum rex esset hilarior, et post nimiam potationem incaluisset mero, præcepit Maumam, et Bazatha, et Harbona, et Bagatha, et Abgatha, et Zethar, et Charchas, septem eunuchis qui in conspectu ejus ministrabant,(vulgate) Esther 1:10 El séptimo día, estando el corazón del rey alegre del vino, mandó a Mehumán, y a Bizta, y a Harbona, y a Bigta, y a Abagta, y a Zetar, y a Carcas, siete eunucos que servían delante del rey Asuero,(E) Esther 1:10 Le septième jour, comme le coeur du roi était réjoui par le vin, il ordonna à Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zéthar et Carcas, les sept eunuques qui servaient devant le roi Assuérus,(F) Est 1:10 Und am siebenten Tage, da der König gutes Muts war vom Wein, hieß er Mehuman, Bistha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Sethar und Charkas, die sieben Kämmerer, die vor dem König Ahasveros dienten,(D) Est 1:10 ἐν δὲ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἡδέως γενόμενος ὁ βασιλεὺς εἶπεν τῷ Αμαν καὶ Βαζαν καὶ Θαρρα καὶ Βωραζη καὶ Ζαθολθα καὶ Αβαταζα καὶ Θαραβα τοῖς ἑπτὰ εὐνούχοις τοῖς διακόνοις τοῦ βασιλέως Ἀρταξέρξου(lxx) Est 1:10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus,(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:11 ============ Est 1:11 to bring Queen Vashti before the king with her royal crown in order to display her beauty to the people and the princes, for she was beautiful.(nasb) Est 1:11 ut introducerent reginam Vasthi coram rege, posito super caput ejus diademate, ut ostenderet cunctis populis et principibus pulchritudinem illius: erat enim pulchra valde.(vulgate) Esther 1:11 que trajesen a la reina Vasti delante del rey con la corona regia, para mostrar a los pueblos y a los príncipes su belleza; porque ella [era] de hermosa apariencia.(E) Esther 1:11 d'amener en sa présence la reine Vasthi, avec la couronne royale, pour montrer sa beauté aux peuples et aux grands, car elle était belle de figure.(F) Est 1:11 daß sie die Königin Vasthi holten vor den König mit der königlichen Krone, daß er den Völkern und Fürsten zeigte ihre Schöne; denn sie war schön.(D) Est 1:11 εἰσαγαγεῖν τὴν βασίλισσαν πρὸς αὐτὸν βασιλεύειν αὐτὴν καὶ περιθεῖναι αὐτῇ τὸ διάδημα καὶ δεῖξαι αὐτὴν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἄρχουσιν καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν τὸ κάλλος αὐτῆς ὅτι καλὴ ἦν(lxx) Est 1:11 to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:12 ============ Est 1:12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king's command delivered by the eunuchs. Then the king became very angry and his wrath burned within him.(nasb) Est 1:12 Quæ renuit, et ad regis imperium quod per eunuchos mandaverat, venire contempsit. Unde iratus rex, et nimio furore succensus,(vulgate) Esther 1:12 Mas la reina Vasti no quiso comparecer a la orden del rey, enviada por medio de los eunucos; y el rey se enojó mucho, y se encendió su ira en él.(E) Esther 1:12 Mais la reine Vasthi refusa de venir, quand elle reçut par les eunuques l'ordre du roi. Et le roi fut très irrité, il fut enflammé de colère.(F) Est 1:12 Aber die Königin Vasthi wollte nicht kommen nach dem Wort des Königs durch seine Kämmerer. Da ward der König sehr zornig, und sein Grimm entbrannte in ihm.(D) Est 1:12 καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσεν αὐτοῦ Αστιν ἡ βασίλισσα ἐλθεῖν μετὰ τῶν εὐνούχων καὶ ἐλυπήθη ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ὠργίσθη(lxx) Est 1:12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king's command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:13 ============ Est 1:13 Then the king said to the wise men who understood the times--for it was the custom of the king so to speak before all who knew law and justice(nasb) Est 1:13 interrogavit sapientes, qui ex more regio semper ei aderant, et illorum faciebat cuncta consilio, scientium leges, ac jura majorum(vulgate) Esther 1:13 Preguntó entonces el rey a los sabios que conocían los tiempos (porque así [era] la costumbre del rey para con todos los que sabían la ley y el derecho;(E) Esther 1:13 Alors le roi s'adressa aux sages qui avaient la connaissance des temps. Car ainsi se traitaient les affaires du roi, devant tous ceux qui connaissaient les lois et le droit.(F) Est 1:13 Und der König sprach zu den Weisen, die sich auf die Zeiten verstanden (denn des Königs Sachen mußten geschehen vor allen, die sich auf Recht und Händel verstanden;(D) Est 1:13 καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς φίλοις αὐτοῦ κατὰ ταῦτα ἐλάλησεν Αστιν ποιήσατε οὖν περὶ τούτου νόμον καὶ κρίσιν(lxx) Est 1:13 Then the king said to the wise men who understood the times (for this was the king's manner toward all who knew law and justice,(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:14 ============ Est 1:14 and were close to him: Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media who had access to the king's presence and sat in the first place in the kingdom--(nasb) Est 1:14 (erant autem primi et proximi, Charsena, et Sethar, et Admatha, et Tharsis, et Mares, et Marsana, et Mamuchan, septem duces Persarum, atque Medorum, qui videbant faciem regis, et primi post eum residere soliti erant):(vulgate) Esther 1:14 y [estaban] junto a él, Carsena, Setar, Admata, Tarsis, Meres, Marsena y Memucán, siete príncipes de Persia y de Media que veían la cara del rey, y se sentaban los primeros en el reino):(E) Esther 1:14 Il avait auprès de lui Carschena, Schéthar, Admatha, Tarsis, Mérès, Marsena, Memucan, sept princes de Perse et de Médie, qui voyaient la face du roi et qui occupaient le premier rang dans le royaume.(F) Est 1:14 die nächsten aber die bei ihm waren Charsena, Sethar, Admatha, Tharsis, Meres, Marsena und Memuchan, die sieben Fürsten der Perser und Meder, die das Angesicht des Königs sahen und saßen obenan im Königreich),(D) Est 1:14 καὶ προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ Αρκεσαιος καὶ Σαρσαθαιος καὶ Μαλησεαρ οἱ ἄρχοντες Περσῶν καὶ Μήδων οἱ ἐγγὺς τοῦ βασιλέως οἱ πρῶτοι παρακαθήμενοι τῷ βασιλεῖ(lxx) Est 1:14 those closest to him being Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who had access to the king's presence, and who ranked highest in the kingdom):(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:15 ============ Est 1:15 "According to law, what is to be done with Queen Vashti, because she did not obey the command of King Ahasuerus delivered by the eunuchs?"(nasb) Est 1:15 cui sententiæ Vasthi regina subjaceret, quæ Assueri regis imperium, quod per eunuchos mandaverat, facere noluisset.(vulgate) Esther 1:15 Según la ley, ¿qué se ha de hacer con la reina Vasti, por cuanto no ha cumplido la orden del rey Asuero, enviada por medio de los eunucos?(E) Esther 1:15 Quelle loi, dit-il, faut-il appliquer à la reine Vasthi, pour n'avoir point exécuté ce que le roi Assuérus lui a ordonné par les eunuques?(F) Est 1:15 was für ein Recht man an der Königin Vasthi tun sollte, darum daß sie nicht getan hatte nach dem Wort des Königs durch seine Kämmerer.(D) Est 1:15 καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν αὐτῷ κατὰ τοὺς νόμους ὡς δεῖ ποιῆσαι Αστιν τῇ βασιλίσσῃ ὅτι οὐκ ἐποίησεν τὰ ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως προσταχθέντα διὰ τῶν εὐνούχων(lxx) Est 1:15 "What shall we do to Queen Vashti, according to law, because she did not obey the command of King Ahasuerus brought to her by the eunuchs?"(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:16 ============ Est 1:16 In the presence of the king and the princes, Memucan said, "Queen Vashti has wronged not only the king but also all the princes and all the peoples who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus.(nasb) Est 1:16 Responditque Mamuchan, audiente rege atque principibus: Non solum regem læsit regina Vasthi, sed et omnes populos et principes qui sunt in cunctis provinciis regis Assueri.(vulgate) Esther 1:16 Y dijo Memucán delante del rey y de los príncipes: No solamente contra el rey ha pecado la reina Vasti, sino contra todos los príncipes, y contra todos los pueblos que [hay] en todas las provincias del rey Asuero.(E) Esther 1:16 Memucan répondit devant le roi et les princes: Ce n'est pas seulement à l'égard du roi que la reine Vasthi a mal agi; elles diront: Le roi Assuérus avait ordonné qu'on amenât en sa présence la reine Vasthi, et elle n'y est pas allée.(F) Est 1:17 Denn es wird solche Tat der Königin auskommen zu allen Weibern, daß sie ihre Männer verachten vor ihren Augen und werden sagen: Der König Ahasveros hieß die Königin Vasthi vor sich kommen; aber sie wollte nicht.(D) Est 1:17 καὶ γὰρ διηγήσατο αὐτοῖς τὰ ῥήματα τῆς βασιλίσσης καὶ ὡς ἀντεῖπεν τῷ βασιλεῖ ὡς οὖν ἀντεῖπεν τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀρταξέρξῃ(lxx) Est 1:17 For the queen's behavior will become known to all women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when they report, 'King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought in before him, but she did not come.'(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:18 ============ Est 1:18 This day the ladies of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen's conduct will speak in the same way to all the king's princes, and there will be plenty of contempt and anger.(nasb) Est 1:18 Atque hoc exemplo omnes principum conjuges Persarum atque Medorum parvipendent imperia maritorum: unde regis justa est indignatio.(vulgate) Esther 1:18 Y entonces dirán esto las señoras de Persia y de Media que oyeren el hecho de la reina, a todos los príncipes del rey; y habrá mucho menosprecio y enojo.(E) Esther 1:18 Et dès ce jour les princesses de Perse et de Médie qui auront appris l'action de la reine la rapporteront à tous les chefs du roi; de là beaucoup de mépris et de colère.(F) Est 1:18 So werden nun die Fürstinnen in Persien und Medien auch so sagen zu allen Fürsten des Königs, wenn sie solche Tat der Königin hören; so wird sich Verachtens und Zorn genug erheben.(D) Est 1:18 οὕτως σήμερον αἱ τυραννίδες αἱ λοιπαὶ τῶν ἀρχόντων Περσῶν καὶ Μήδων ἀκούσασαι τὰ τῷ βασιλεῖ λεχθέντα ὑπ᾽ αὐτῆς τολμήσουσιν ὁμοίως ἀτιμάσαι τοὺς ἄνδρας αὐτῶν(lxx) Est 1:18 This very day the noble ladies of Persia and Media will say to all the king's officials that they have heard of the behavior of the queen. Thus there will be excessive contempt and wrath.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:19 ============ Est 1:19 If it pleases the king, let a royal edict be issued by him and let it be written in the laws of Persia and Media so that it cannot be repealed, that Vashti may no longer come into the presence of King Ahasuerus, and let the king give her royal position to another who is more worthy than she.(nasb) Est 1:19 Si tibi placet, egrediatur edictum a facie tua, et scribatur juxta legem Persarum atque Medorum, quam præteriri illicitum est, ut nequaquam ultra Vasthi ingrediatur ad regem, sed regnum illius altera, quæ melior est illa, accipiat.(vulgate) Esther 1:19 Si parece bien al rey, salga mandamiento real delante de él, y escríbase entre las leyes de Persia y de Media, y no sea traspasado: Que no venga más Vasti delante del rey Asuero: y dé el rey su reino a su compañera que sea mejor que ella.(E) Esther 1:19 Si le roi le trouve bon, qu'on publie de sa part et qu'on inscrive parmi les lois des Perses et des Mèdes, avec défense de la transgresser, une ordonnance royale d'après laquelle Vasthi ne paraîtra plus devant le roi Assuérus et le roi donnera la dignité de reine à une autre qui soit meilleure qu'elle.(F) Est 1:19 Gefällt es dem König, so lasse man ein königlich Gebot von ihm ausgehen und schreiben nach der Perser und Meder Gesetz, welches man nicht darf übertreten: daß Vasthi nicht mehr vor den König Ahasveros komme, und der König gebe ihre königliche Würde einer andern, die besser ist denn sie.(D) Est 1:19 εἰ οὖν δοκεῖ τῷ βασιλεῖ προσταξάτω βασιλικόν καὶ γραφήτω κατὰ τοὺς νόμους Μήδων καὶ Περσῶν καὶ μὴ ἄλλως χρησάσθω μηδὲ εἰσελθάτω ἔτι ἡ βασίλισσα πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτῆς δότω ὁ βασιλεὺς γυναικὶ κρείττονι αὐτῆς(lxx) Est 1:19 If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:20 ============ Est 1:20 When the king's edict which he will make is heard throughout all his kingdom, great as it is, then all women will give honor to their husbands, great and small."(nasb) Est 1:20 Et hoc in omne (quod latissimum est) provinciarum tuarum divulgetur imperium, et cunctæ uxores, tam majorum quam minorum, deferant maritis suis honorem.(vulgate) Esther 1:20 Y el mandamiento que hará el rey será oído en todo su reino, aunque es grande, y todas las esposas darán honra a sus maridos, desde el mayor hasta el menor.(E) Esther 1:20 L'édit du roi sera connu dans tout son royaume, quelque grand qu'il soit, et toutes les femmes rendront honneur à leurs maris, depuis le plus grand jusqu'au plus petit.(F) Est 1:20 Und es erschalle dieser Befehl des Königs, den er geben wird, in sein ganzes Reich, welches groß ist, daß alle Weiber ihre Männer in Ehren halten, unter Großen und Kleinen.(D) Est 1:20 καὶ ἀκουσθήτω ὁ νόμος ὁ ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως ὃν ἐὰν ποιῇ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὕτως πᾶσαι αἱ γυναῖκες περιθήσουσιν τιμὴν τοῖς ἀνδράσιν ἑαυτῶν ἀπὸ πτωχοῦ ἕως πλουσίου(lxx) Est 1:20 When the king's decree which he will make is proclaimed throughout all his empire (for it is great), all wives will honor their husbands, both great and small."(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:21 ============ Est 1:21 This word pleased the king and the princes, and the king did as Memucan proposed.(nasb) Est 1:21 Placuit consilium ejus regi et principibus: fecitque rex juxta consilium Mamuchan,(vulgate) Esther 1:21 Y agradó esta palabra en ojos del rey y de los príncipes, e hizo el rey conforme al dicho de Memucán;(E) Esther 1:21 Cet avis fut approuvé du roi et des princes, et le roi agit d'après la parole de Memucan.(F) Est 1:21 Das gefiel dem König und den Fürsten; und der König tat nach dem Wort Memuchans.(D) Est 1:21 καὶ ἤρεσεν ὁ λόγος τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσι καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καθὰ ἐλάλησεν ὁ Μουχαιος(lxx) Est 1:21 And the reply pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan.(nkjv) ======= Esther 1:22 ============ Est 1:22 So he sent letters to all the king's provinces, to each province according to its script and to every people according to their language, that every man should be the master in his own house and the one who speaks in the language of his own people.(nasb) Est 1:22 et misit epistolas ad universas provincias regni sui, ut quæque gens audire et legere poterat, diversis linguis et litteris, esse viros principes ac majores in domibus suis: et hoc per cunctos populos divulgari.(vulgate) Esther 1:22 pues envió cartas a todas las provincias del rey, a cada provincia conforme a su lenguaje, y a cada pueblo conforme a su lenguaje, diciendo que todo hombre fuese señor en su casa; y que se publicase esto según la lengua de cada pueblo.(E) Esther 1:22 Il envoya des lettres à toutes les provinces du royaume, à chaque province selon son écriture et à chaque peuple selon sa langue; elles portaient que tout homme devait être le maître dans sa maison, et qu'il parlerait la langue de son peuple.(F) Est 1:22 Da wurden Briefe ausgesandt in alle Länder des Königs, in ein jegliches Land nach seiner Schrift und zu jeglichem Volk nach seiner Sprache: daß ein jeglicher Mann der Oberherr in seinem Hause sei und ließe reden nach der Sprache seines Volkes.(D) Est 1:22 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς πᾶσαν τὴν βασιλείαν κατὰ χώραν κατὰ τὴν λέξιν αὐτῶν ὥστε εἶναι φόβον αὐτοῖς ἐν ταῖς οἰκίαις αὐτῶν(lxx) Est 1:22 Then he sent letters to all the king's provinces, to each province in its own script, and to every people in their own language, that each man should be master in his own house, and speak in the language of his own people.(nkjv) ======= Esther 2:1 ============ top of the page
