Jer 38:2 "Thus says the Lord, 'He who stays in this city will die by the sword and by famine and by pestilence, but he who goes out to the Chaldeans will live and have his own life as booty and stay alive.'(nasb)
Jer 38:2 Hæc dicit Dominus: Quicumque manserit in civitate hac, morietur gladio, et fame, et peste: qui autem profugerit ad Chaldæos, vivet, et erit anima ejus sospes et vivens.(vulgate)
Jeremías 38:2 Así dice Jehová: El que se quede en esta ciudad morirá a espada, o de hambre, o de pestilencia; mas el que se pase a los caldeos vivirá, pues su vida le será por despojo, y vivirá.(E)

Jer 38:4 Then the officials said to the king, "Now let this man be put to death, inasmuch as he is discouraging the men of war who are left in this city and all the people, by speaking such words to them; for this man is not seeking the well-being of this people but rather their harm."(nasb)
Jer 38:4 Et dixerunt principes regi: Rogamus ut occidatur homo iste: de industria enim dissolvit manus virorum bellantium qui remanserunt in civitate hac, et manus universi populi, loquens ad eos juxta verba hæc: siquidem homo iste non quærit pacem populo huic, sed malum.(vulgate)
Jeremías 38:4 Y dijeron los príncipes al rey: Te pedimos que sea muerto este hombre; porque de esta manera hace desmayar las manos de los hombres de guerra que han quedado en esta ciudad, y las manos de todo el pueblo, hablándoles tales palabras; porque este hombre no busca la paz de este pueblo, sino el mal.(E)
Jérémie 38:4 Et les chefs dirent au roi: Que cet homme soit mis à mort! car il décourage les hommes de guerre qui restent dans cette ville, et tout le peuple, en leur tenant de pareils discours; cet homme ne cherche pas le bien de ce peuple, il ne veut que son malheur.(F)
Jer 38:4 Da sprachen die Fürsten zum König: Laß doch diesen Mann töten; denn mit der Weise wendet er die Kriegsleute ab, so noch übrig sind in der Stadt, desgleichen das ganze Volk auch, weil er solche Worte zu ihnen sagt. Denn der Mann sucht nicht, was diesem Volk zum Frieden, sondern zum Unglück dient.(D)
Jer 38:4 ἔτι οἰκοδομήσω σε καὶ οἰκοδομηθήσῃ παρθένος Ισραηλ ἔτι λήμψῃ τύμπανόν σου καὶ ἐξελεύσῃ μετὰ συναγωγῆς παιζόντων(lxx)
Jer 38:4 Therefore the princes said to the king, "Please, let this man be put to death, for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the welfare of this people, but their harm."(nkjv)

Jer 38:5 So King Zedekiah said, "Behold, he is in your hands; for the king can do nothing against you."(nasb)

Jer 38:6 Then they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malchijah the king's son, which was in the court of the guardhouse; and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. Now in the cistern there was no water but only mud, and Jeremiah sank into the mud.(nasb)

Jer 38:6 Da nahmen sie Jeremia und warfen ihn in die Grube Malchias, des Königssohnes, die am Vorhof des Gefängnisses war, da nicht Wasser, sondern Schlamm war, und Jeremia sank in den Schlamm.(D)

Jer 38:6 So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king's son, which was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire. So Jeremiah sank in the mire.(nkjv)

Jer 38:8 Ebed-Melech went out of the king's house and spoke to the king, saying:(nkjv)

Jer 38:9 "My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet whom they have cast into the cistern; and he will die right where he is because of the famine, for there is no more bread in the city."(nasb)
Jer 38:9 Domine mi rex, male fecerunt viri isti omnia quæcumque perpetrarunt contra Jeremiam prophetam, mittentes eum in lacum, ut moriatur ibi fame: non sunt enim panes ultra in civitate.(vulgate)

Jer 38:9 "My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon, and he is likely to die from hunger in the place where he is. For there is no more bread in the city."(nkjv)

Jer 38:10 Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, "Take thirty men from here under your authority and bring up Jeremiah the prophet from the cistern before he dies."(nasb)
Jer 38:10 Præcepit itaque rex Abdemelech Æthiopi, dicens: Tolle tecum hinc triginta viros, et leva Jeremiam prophetam de lacu, antequam moriatur.(vulgate)
Jeremías 38:10 Entonces mandó el rey al mismo Ebedmelec etíope, diciendo: Toma en tu poder a treinta hombres de aquí, y saca al profeta Jeremías de la mazmorra, antes que muera.(E)

Jer 38:11 So Ebed-melech took the men under his authority and went into the king's palace to a place beneath the storeroom and took from there worn-out clothes and worn-out rags and let them down by ropes into the cistern to Jeremiah.(nasb)
Jer 38:11 Assumptis ergo Abdemelech secum viris, ingressus est domum regis, quæ erat sub cellario, et tulit inde veteres pannos, et antiqua quæ computruerant, et submisit ea ad Jeremiam in lacum per funiculos.(vulgate)

Jer 38:11 So Ebed-Melech took the men with him and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took from there old clothes and old rags, and let them down by ropes into the dungeon to Jeremiah.(nkjv)

Jer 38:12 Then Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, "Now put these worn-out clothes and rags under your armpits under the ropes"; and Jeremiah did so.(nasb)
Jer 38:12 Dixitque Abdemelech Æthiops ad Jeremiam: Pone veteres pannos, et hæc scissa et putrida, sub cubito manuum tuarum, et super funes. Fecit ergo Jeremias sic,(vulgate)
Jeremías 38:12 Y el etíope Ebedmelec dijo a Jeremías: Pon ahora esos trapos viejos y ropas raídas y andrajosas bajo tus sobacos, debajo de las sogas. Y lo hizo así Jeremías.(E)

Jer 38:12 Then Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, "Please put these old clothes and rags under your armpits, under the ropes." And Jeremiah did so.(nkjv)

Jer 38:13 So they pulled Jeremiah up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern, and Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guardhouse.(nasb)
Jer 38:13 et extraxerunt Jeremiam funibus, et eduxerunt eum de lacu: mansit autem Jeremias in vestibulo carceris.~(vulgate)

Jer 38:13 So they pulled Jeremiah up with ropes and lifted him out of the dungeon. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.(nkjv)

Jer 38:14 Then King Zedekiah sent and had Jeremiah the prophet brought to him at the third entrance that is in the house of the Lord; and the king said to Jeremiah, "I am going to ask you something; do not hide anything from me."(nasb)
Jer 38:14 Et misit rex Sedecias, et tulit ad se Jeremiam prophetam ad ostium tertium quod erat in domo Domini: et dixit rex ad Jeremiam: Interrogo ego te sermonem, ne abscondas a me aliquid.(vulgate)
Jeremías 38:14 Después envió el rey Sedequías, e hizo traer a sí al profeta Jeremías a la tercera entrada que estaba en la casa de Jehová. Y dijo el rey a Jeremías: Voy a preguntarte algo, no me ocultes nada.(E)
Jérémie 38:14 Le roi Sédécias envoya chercher Jérémie, le prophète, et le fit venir auprès de lui dans la troisième entrée de la maison de l'Eternel. Et le roi dit à Jérémie: J'ai une chose à te demander; ne me cache rien.(F)
Jer 38:14 Und der König Zedekia sandte hin und ließ den Propheten Jeremia zu sich holen unter den dritten Eingang am Hause des HERRN. Und der König sprach zu Jeremia: Ich will dich etwas fragen; verhalte mir nichts.(D)
Jer 38:14 μεγαλυνῶ καὶ μεθύσω τὴν ψυχὴν τῶν ἱερέων υἱῶν Λευι καὶ ὁ λαός μου τῶν ἀγαθῶν μου ἐμπλησθήσεται(lxx)
Jer 38:14 Then Zedekiah the king sent and had Jeremiah the prophet brought to him at the third entrance of the house of the Lord. And the king said to Jeremiah, "I will ask you something. Hide nothing from me."(nkjv)

Jer 38:15 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, "If I tell you, will you not certainly put me to death? Besides, if I give you advice, you will not listen to me."(nasb)
Jer 38:15 Dixit autem Jeremias ad Sedeciam: Si annuntiavero tibi, numquid non interficies me? et si consilium dedero tibi, non me audies.(vulgate)
Jeremías 38:15 Y Jeremías dijo a Sedequías: Si te lo declaro, ¿no es verdad que me matarás? Y si te doy un consejo, no me escucharás.(E)

Jer 38:15 Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, "If I declare it to you, will you not surely put me to death? And if I give you advice, you will not listen to me."(nkjv)

Jer 38:16 But King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in secret saying, "As the Lord lives, who made this life for us, surely I will not put you to death nor will I give you over to the hand of these men who are seeking your life."(nasb)
