Today's Date: ======= Jeremiah 40:1 ============ Jer 40:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord after Nebuzaradan captain of the bodyguard had released him from Ramah, when he had taken him bound in chains among all the exiles of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon.(nasb) Jer 40:1 Sermo qui factus est ad Jeremiam a Domino, postquam dimissus est a Nabuzardan magistro militiæ de Rama, quando tulit eum vinctum catenis in medio omnium qui migrabant de Jerusalem et Juda, et ducebantur in Babylonem.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:1 Palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte de Jehová, después que Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia le envió desde Ramá, cuando le tomó estando atado con esposas entre todos los que fueron llevados cautivos de Jerusalén y de Judá que fueron desterrados a Babilonia.(E) Jérémie 40:1 La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l'Eternel, après que Nebuzaradan, chef des gardes, l'eut renvoyé de Rama. Quand il le fit chercher, Jérémie était lié de chaînes parmi tous les captifs de Jérusalem et de Juda qu'on emmenait à Babylone.(F) Jer 40:1 Dies ist das Wort, so vom HERRN geschah zu Jeremia, da ihn Nebusaradan, der Hauptmann, losließ zu Rama; denn er war mit Ketten gebunden unter allen denen, die zu Jerusalem und in Juda gefangen waren, daß man sie gen Babel wegführen sollte.(D) Jer 40:1 καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ιερεμιαν δεύτερον καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν ἔτι δεδεμένος ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τῆς φυλακῆς λέγων(lxx) Jer 40:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him bound in chains among all who were carried away captive from Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away captive to Babylon.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:2 ============ Jer 40:2 Now the captain of the bodyguard had taken Jeremiah and said to him, "The Lord your God promised this calamity against this place;(nasb) Jer 40:2 Tollens ergo princeps militiæ Jeremiam, dixit ad eum: Dominus Deus tuus locutus est malum hoc super locum istum:(vulgate) Jeremías 40:2 Tomó pues, el capitán de la guardia a Jeremías, y le dijo: Jehová tu Dios habló este mal contra este lugar;(E) Jérémie 40:2 Le chef des gardes envoya chercher Jérémie, et lui dit: L'Eternel, ton Dieu, a annoncé ces malheurs contre ce lieu;(F) Jer 40:2 Da nun der Hauptmann Jeremia zu sich hatte lassen holen, sprach er zu ihm: Der HERR, dein Gott, hat dies Unglück über diese Stätte geredet.(D) Jer 40:2 οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος ποιῶν γῆν καὶ πλάσσων αὐτὴν τοῦ ἀνορθῶσαι αὐτήν κύριος ὄνομα αὐτῷ(lxx) Jer 40:2 And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him: "The Lord your God has pronounced this doom on this place.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:3 ============ Jer 40:3 and the Lord has brought it on and done just as He promised. Because you people sinned against the Lord and did not listen to His voice, therefore this thing has happened to you.(nasb) Jer 40:3 et adduxit, et fecit Dominus sicut locutus est, quia peccastis Domino, et non audistis vocem ejus: et factus est vobis sermo hic.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:3 y Jehová lo ha traído y hecho según lo había dicho; porque pecasteis contra Jehová, y no oísteis su voz, por eso os ha venido esto.(E) Jérémie 40:3 l'Eternel a fait venir et a exécuté ce qu'il avait dit, et ces choses vous sont arrivées parce que vous avez péché contre l'Eternel et que vous n'avez pas écouté sa voix.(F) Jer 40:3 und hat's auch kommen lassen und getan, wie er geredet hat; denn ihr habt gesündigt wider den HERRN und seiner Stimme nicht gehorcht; darum ist euch solches widerfahren.(D) Jer 40:3 κέκραξον πρός με καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαί σοι καὶ ἀπαγγελῶ σοι μεγάλα καὶ ἰσχυρά ἃ οὐκ ἔγνως αὐτά(lxx) Jer 40:3 Now the Lord has brought it, and has done just as He said. Because you people have sinned against the Lord, and not obeyed His voice, therefore this thing has come upon you.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:4 ============ Jer 40:4 But now, behold, I am freeing you today from the chains which are on your hands. If you would prefer to come with me to Babylon, come along, and I will look after you; but if you would prefer not to come with me to Babylon, never mind. Look, the whole land is before you; go wherever it seems good and right for you to go."(nasb) Jer 40:4 Nunc ergo ecce solvi te hodie de catenis quæ sunt in manibus tuis: si placet tibi ut venias mecum in Babylonem, veni, et ponam oculos meos super te: si autem displicet tibi venire mecum in Babylonem, reside: ecce omnis terra in conspectu tuo est: quod elegeris, et quo placuerit tibi ut vadas, illuc perge:(vulgate) Jeremías 40:4 Y ahora yo te he soltado hoy de las esposas que tenías en tus manos. Si te parece bien venir conmigo a Babilonia, ven, y yo miraré por ti; mas si no te parece bien venir conmigo a Babilonia, déjalo; mira, toda la tierra está delante de ti; ve a donde mejor y más cómodo te pareciere ir.(E) Jérémie 40:4 Maintenant voici, je te délivre aujourd'hui des chaînes que tu as aux mains; si tu veux venir avec moi à Babylone, viens, j'aurai soin de toi; si cela te déplaît de venir avec moi à Babylone, ne viens pas; regarde, tout le pays est devant toi, va où il te semblera bon et convenable d'aller.(F) Jer 40:4 Und nun siehe, ich habe dich heute losgemacht von den Ketten, womit deine Hände gebunden waren. Gefällt dir's, mit mir gen Babel zu ziehen, so komm du sollst mir befohlen sein; gefällt dir's aber nicht, mit mir gen Babel zu ziehen, so laß es anstehen. Siehe, da hast du das ganze Land vor dir; wo dich's gut dünkt und dir gefällt, da zieh hin.(D) Jer 40:4 ὅτι οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ περὶ οἴκων τῆς πόλεως ταύτης καὶ περὶ οἴκων βασιλέως Ιουδα τῶν καθῃρημένων εἰς χάρακας καὶ προμαχῶνας(lxx) Jer 40:4 And now look, I free you this day from the chains that were on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will look after you. But if it seems wrong for you to come with me to Babylon, remain here. See, all the land is before you; wherever it seems good and convenient for you to go, go there."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:5 ============ Jer 40:5 As Jeremiah was still not going back, he said, "Go on back then to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the cities of Judah, and stay with him among the people; or else go anywhere it seems right for you to go." So the captain of the bodyguard gave him a ration and a gift and let him go.(nasb) Jer 40:5 et mecum noli venire, sed habita apud Godoliam filium Ahicam filii Saphan, quem præposuit rex Babylonis civitatibus Juda: habita ergo cum eo in medio populi: vel quocumque placuerit tibi ut vadas, vade. Dedit quoque ei magister militiæ cibaria et munuscula, et dimisit eum.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:5 Y aún no se había vuelto él, cuando [le dijo]: Vuélvete a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, al cual el rey de Babilonia ha puesto sobre todas las ciudades de Judá, y vive con él en medio del pueblo; o ve a donde te pareciere más cómodo ir. Y el capitán de la guardia le dio provisiones y un presente, y le despidió.(E) Jérémie 40:5 Et comme il tardait à répondre: Retourne, ajouta-t-il, vers Guedalia, fils d'Achikam, fils de Schaphan, que le roi de Babylone a établi sur les villes de Juda, et reste avec lui parmi le peuple; ou bien, va partout où il te conviendra d'aller. Le chef des gardes lui donna des vivres et des présents, et le congédia.(F) Jer 40:5 Denn weiter hinaus wird kein Wiederkehren sein. Darum magst du umkehren zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, welchen der König zu Babel gesetzt hat über die Städte in Juda, und bei ihm unter dem Volk bleiben; oder gehe, wohin dir's wohl gefällt. Und der Hauptmann gab ihm Zehrung und Geschenke und ließ ihn gehen.(D) Jer 40:5 τοῦ μάχεσθαι πρὸς τοὺς Χαλδαίους καὶ πληρῶσαι αὐτὴν τῶν νεκρῶν τῶν ἀνθρώπων οὓς ἐπάταξα ἐν ὀργῇ μου καὶ ἐν θυμῷ μου καὶ ἀπέστρεψα τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν περὶ πασῶν τῶν πονηριῶν αὐτῶν(lxx) Jer 40:5 Now while Jeremiah had not yet gone back, Nebuzaradan said, "Go back to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people. Or go wherever it seems convenient for you to go." So the captain of the guard gave him rations and a gift and let him go.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:6 ============ Jer 40:6 Then Jeremiah went to Mizpah to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam and stayed with him among the people who were left in the land.(nasb) Jer 40:6 Venit autem Jeremias ad Godoliam filium Ahicam in Masphath, et habitavit cum eo in medio populi qui relictus fuerat in terra.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:6 Se fue entonces Jeremías a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, a Mizpa, y moró con él en medio del pueblo que había quedado en la tierra.(E) Jérémie 40:6 Jérémie alla vers Guedalia, fils d'Achikam, à Mitspa, et il resta avec lui parmi le peuple qui était demeuré dans le pays.(F) Jer 40:6 Also kam Jeremia zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, gen Mizpa und blieb bei ihm unter dem Volk, das im Lande noch übrig war.(D) Jer 40:6 ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀνάγω αὐτῇ συνούλωσιν καὶ ἴαμα καὶ φανερώσω αὐτοῖς εἰσακούειν καὶ ἰατρεύσω αὐτὴν καὶ ποιήσω αὐτοῖς εἰρήνην καὶ πίστιν(lxx) Jer 40:6 Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people who were left in the land.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:7 ============ Jer 40:7 Now all the commanders of the forces that were in the field, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam over the land and that he had put him in charge of the men, women and children, those of the poorest of the land who had not been exiled to Babylon.(nasb) Jer 40:7 Cumque audissent omnes principes exercitus, qui dispersi fuerant per regiones, ipsi et socii eorum, quod præfecisset rex Babylonis Godoliam filium Ahicam terræ, et quod commendasset ei viros, et mulieres, et parvulos, et de pauperibus terræ, qui non fuerant translati in Babylonem,(vulgate) Jeremías 40:7 Y como oyeron todos los príncipes del ejército que estaba por el campo, ellos y sus hombres, que el rey de Babilonia había puesto a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, sobre la tierra, y que le había encomendado los hombres, y las mujeres, y los niños, y los pobres de la tierra, que no fueron llevados cautivos a Babilonia.(E) Jérémie 40:7 Lorsque tous les chefs des troupes qui étaient dans les campagnes eurent appris, eux et leurs hommes, que le roi de Babylone avait établi gouverneur du pays Guedalia, fils d'Achikam, et qu'il lui avait confié les hommes, les femmes, les enfants, et ceux des pauvres du pays qu'on n'avait pas emmenés captifs à Babylone,(F) Jer 40:7 Da nun die Hauptleute, so auf dem Felde sich hielten, samt ihren Leuten erfuhren, daß der König zu Babel hatte Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, über das Land gesetzt und über die Männer und Weiber, Kinder und die Geringen im Lande, welche nicht gen Babel geführt waren,(D) Jer 40:7 καὶ ἐπιστρέψω τὴν ἀποικίαν Ιουδα καὶ τὴν ἀποικίαν Ισραηλ καὶ οἰκοδομήσω αὐτοὺς καθὼς τὸ πρότερον(lxx) Jer 40:7 And when all the captains of the armies who were in the fields, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and the poorest of the land who had not been carried away captive to Babylon,(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:8 ============ Jer 40:8 So they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah, along with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, both they and their men.(nasb) Jer 40:8 venerunt ad Godoliam in Masphath, et Ismahel filius Nathaniæ, et Johanan et Jonathan filii Caree, et Sareas filius Thanehumeth, et filii Ophi, qui erant de Netophathi, et Jezonias filius Maachathi, ipsi et viri eorum.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:8 Vinieron luego a Gedalías en Mizpa, [esto es], Ismael, hijo de Netanías, y Johanán y Jonatán, hijos de Carea, y Seraías, hijo de Tanhumet, y los hijos de Efi netofatita, y Jezanías, hijo de un maacatita, ellos y sus hombres.(E) Jérémie 40:8 ils se rendirent auprès de Guedalia à Mitspa, savoir Ismaël, fils de Nethania, Jochanan et Jonathan, fils de Karéach, Seraja, fils de Thanhumeth, les fils d'Ephaï de Nethopha, et Jezania, fils du Maacatite, eux et leurs hommes.(F) Jer 40:8 kamen sie zu Gedalja gen Mizpa, nämlich Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, Johanan und Jonathan, die Söhne Kareahs, und Seraja, der Sohn Thanhumeths, und die Söhne Ephais von Netopha und Jesanja, der Sohn eines Maachathiters, samt ihren Männern.(D) Jer 40:8 καὶ καθαριῶ αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἀδικιῶν αὐτῶν ὧν ἡμάρτοσάν μοι καὶ οὐ μὴ μνησθήσομαι ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν ὧν ἥμαρτόν μοι καὶ ἀπέστησαν ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ(lxx) Jer 40:8 then they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah--Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:9 ============ Jer 40:9 Then Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, swore to them and to their men, saying, "Do not be afraid of serving the Chaldeans; stay in the land and serve the king of Babylon, that it may go well with you.(nasb) Jer 40:9 Et juravit eis Godolias filius Ahicam filii Saphan, et comitibus eorum, dicens: Nolite timere servire Chaldæis: habitate in terra, et servite regi Babylonis, et bene erit vobis.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:9 Y les juró Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, a ellos y a sus hombres, diciendo: No tengáis temor de servir a los caldeos; habitad en la tierra, y servid al rey de Babilonia, y tendréis bien.(E) Jérémie 40:9 Guedalia, fils d'Achikam, fils de Schaphan, leur jura, à eux et à leurs hommes, en disant: Ne craignez pas de servir les Chaldéens; demeurez dans le pays, servez le roi de Babylone, et vous vous en trouverez bien.(F) Jer 40:9 Und Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, tat ihnen und ihren Männern einen Eid und sprach: Fürchtet euch nicht, daß ihr den Chaldäern untertan sein sollt; bleibt im Lande und seid dem König zu Babel untertan, so wird's euch wohl gehen.(D) Jer 40:9 καὶ ἔσται εἰς εὐφροσύνην καὶ εἰς αἴνεσιν καὶ εἰς μεγαλειότητα παντὶ τῷ λαῷ τῆς γῆς οἵτινες ἀκούσονται πάντα τὰ ἀγαθά ἃ ἐγὼ ποιήσω καὶ φοβηθήσονται καὶ πικρανθήσονται περὶ πάντων τῶν ἀγαθῶν καὶ περὶ πάσης τῆς εἰρήνης ἧς ἐγὼ ποιήσω αὐτοῖς(lxx) Jer 40:9 And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath before them and their men, saying, "Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:10 ============ Jer 40:10 Now as for me, behold, I am going to stay at Mizpah to stand for you before the Chaldeans who come to us; but as for you, gather in wine and summer fruit and oil and put them in your storage vessels, and live in your cities that you have taken over."(nasb) Jer 40:10 Ecce ego habito in Masphath, ut respondeam præcepto Chaldæorum qui mittuntur ad nos: vos autem colligite vindemiam, et messem, et oleum, et condite in vasis vestris, et manete in urbibus vestris quas tenetis.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:10 Y he aquí que yo habito en Mizpa, para estar delante de los caldeos que vendrán a nosotros; mas vosotros, tomad el vino, los frutos del verano y el aceite, y ponedlo en vuestros almacenes, y quedaos en vuestras ciudades que habéis tomado.(E) Jérémie 40:10 Voici, je reste à Mitspa, pour être présent devant les Chaldéens qui viendront vers nous; et vous, faites la récolte du vin, des fruits d'été et de l'huile, mettez-les dans vos vases, et demeurez dans vos villes que vous occupez.(F) Jer 40:10 Siehe, ich wohne hier zu Mizpa, daß ich den Chaldäern diene, die zu uns kommen; darum sammelt ein Wein und Feigen und Öl und legt's in eure Gefäße und wohnt in euren Städten, die ihr bekommen habt.(D) Jer 40:10 οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος ἔτι ἀκουσθήσεται ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ ᾧ ὑμεῖς λέγετε ἔρημός ἐστιν ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπων καὶ κτηνῶν ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἔξωθεν Ιερουσαλημ ταῖς ἠρημωμέναις παρὰ τὸ μὴ εἶναι ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτήνη(lxx) Jer 40:10 As for me, I will indeed dwell at Mizpah and serve the Chaldeans who come to us. But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam did not believe them.(nasb) Jer 40:14 et dixerunt ei: Scito quod Baalis, rex filiorum Ammon, misit Ismahel filium Nathaniæ percutere animam tuam. Et non credidit eis Godolias filius Ahicam.(vulgate) Jeremías 40:14 y le dijeron: ¿No sabes de cierto como Baalis, rey de los hijos de Amón, ha enviado a Ismael, hijo de Netanías, para matarte? Mas Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam no les creyó.(E) Jérémie 40:14 et lui dirent: Sais-tu que Baalis, roi des Ammonites, a chargé Ismaël, fils de Nethania, de t'ôter la vie? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam did not believe them.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 40:15 ============ Jer 40:15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke secretly to Gedaliah in Mizpah, saying, "Let me go and kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and not a man will know!
