Today's Date: ======= 2 Chronicles 22:1 ============ 2Ch 22:1 Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his place, for the band of men who came with the Arabs to the camp had slain all the older sons. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.(nas) 2Ch 22:1 καὶ ἐβασίλευσαν οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ τὸν Οχοζιαν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν μικρὸν ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὅτι πάντας τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους ἀπέκτεινεν τὸ λῃστήριον τὸ ἐπελθὸν ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς οἱ Ἄραβες καὶ οἱ Αλιμαζονεῖς καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Οχοζιας υἱὸς Ιωραμ βασιλέως Ιουδα (lxx) 2Ch 22:1 Constituerunt autem habitatores Jerusalem Ochoziam filium ejus minimum regem pro eo: omnes enim majores natu, qui ante eum fuerant, interfecerant latrones Arabum qui irruerant in castra: regnavitque Ochozias filius Joram regis Juda.(vulgate) 1 ׃22 וַיַּמְלִיכוּ֩ יוֹשְׁבֵ֨י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם אֶת־אֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ בְנ֤וֹ הַקָּטֹן֙ תַּחְתָּ֔יו כִּ֤י כָל־הָרִאשֹׁנִים֙ הָרַ֣ג הַגְּד֔וּד הַבָּ֥א בָֽעַרְבִ֖ים לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹרָ֖ם מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃ פ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:1 Und die zu Jerusalem machten zum König Ahasja, seinen jüngsten Sohn, an seiner Statt. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.(nas) 2Ch 22:2 ὢν εἴκοσι ἐτῶν Οχοζιας ἐβασίλευσεν καὶ ἐνιαυτὸν ἕνα ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ Γοθολια θυγάτηρ Αμβρι (lxx) 2Ch 22:2 Quadraginta duorum annorum erat Ochozias cum regnare cœpisset, et uno anno regnavit in Jerusalem: et nomen matris ejus Athalia filia Amri.(vulgate) 2 ׃22 בֶּן־אַרְבָּעִ֨ים וּשְׁתַּ֤יִם שָׁנָה֙ אֲחַזְיָ֣הוּ בְמָלְכ֔וֹ וְשָׁנָ֣ה אַחַ֔ת מָלַ֖ךְ בִּֽירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ עֲתַלְיָ֖הוּ בַּת־עָמְרִֽי׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:2 Zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt war Ahasja, da er König ward, und regierte ein Jahr zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Athalja, die Tochter Omris.(dhs) 2Ch 22:2 Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:3 ============ 2Ch 22:3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.(nas) 2Ch 22:3 καὶ οὗτος ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδῷ οἴκου Αχααβ ὅτι μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἦν σύμβουλος τοῦ ἁμαρτάνειν (lxx) 2Ch 22:3 Sed et ipse ingressus est per vias domus Achab: mater enim ejus impulit eum ut impie ageret.(vulgate) 3 ׃22 גַּם־ה֣וּא הָלַ֔ךְ בְּדַרְכֵ֖י בֵּ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב כִּ֥י אִמּ֛וֹ הָיְתָ֥ה יֽוֹעַצְתּ֖וֹ לְהַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:3 Und er wandelte auch in den Wegen des Hauses Ahab; denn sein Mutter hielt ihn dazu, daß er gottlos war.(dhs) 2Ch 22:3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother advised him to do wickedly.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:4 ============ 2Ch 22:4 He did evil in the sight of the Lord like the house of Ahab, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.(nas) 2Ch 22:4 καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐναντίον κυρίου ὡς οἶκος Αχααβ ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ σύμβουλοι τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι αὐτόν (lxx) 2Ch 22:4 Fecit igitur malum in conspectu Domini, sicut domus Achab: ipsi enim fuerunt ei consiliarii post mortem patris sui, in interitum ejus:(vulgate) 4 ׃22 וַיַּ֧עַשׂ הָרַ֛ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה כְּבֵ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב כִּי־הֵ֜מָּה הָֽיוּ־ל֣וֹ יֽוֹעֲצִ֗ים אַחֲרֵ֛י מ֥וֹת אָבִ֖יו לְמַשְׁחִ֥ית לֽוֹ׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:4 Darum tat er, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie das Haus Ahab. Denn sie waren seine Ratgeber nach seines Vaters Tode, daß sie ihn verderbten.(dhs) 2Ch 22:4 Therefore he did evil in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab; for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:5 ============ 2Ch 22:5 He also walked according to their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to wage war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead. But the Arameans wounded Joram.(nas) 2Ch 22:5 καὶ ἐν ταῖς βουλαῖς αὐτῶν ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἐπορεύθη μετὰ Ιωραμ υἱοῦ Αχααβ εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ Αζαηλ βασιλέα Συρίας εἰς Ραμα Γαλααδ καὶ ἐπάταξαν οἱ τοξόται τὸν Ιωραμ (lxx) 2Ch 22:5 ambulavitque in consiliis eorum. Et perrexit cum Joram filio Achab rege Israël in bellum contra Hazaël regem Syriæ in Ramoth Galaad: vulneraveruntque Syri Joram.(vulgate) 5 ׃22 גַּ֣ם בַּעֲצָתָם֮ הָלַךְ֒ וַיֵּלֶךְ֩ אֶת־יְהוֹרָ֨ם בֶּן־אַחְאָ֜ב מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה עַל־חֲזָאֵ֥ל מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָ֖ם בְּרָמ֣וֹת גִּלְעָ֑ד וַיַּכּ֥וּ הָֽרַמִּ֖ים אֶת־יוֹרָֽם׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:5 Und er wandelte nach ihrem Rat. Und er zog hin mit Joram, dem Sohn Ahabs, dem König Israels, in den Streit gen Ramoth in Gilead wider Hasael, den König von Syrien. Aber die Syrer schlugen Joram,(dhs) 2Ch 22:5 He also followed their advice, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:6 ============ 2Ch 22:6 So he returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had inflicted on him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.(nas) 2Ch 22:6 καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Ιωραμ τοῦ ἰατρευθῆναι εἰς Ιεζραελ ἀπὸ τῶν πληγῶν ὧν ἐπάταξαν αὐτὸν οἱ Σύροι ἐν Ραμα ἐν τῷ πολεμεῖν αὐτὸν πρὸς Αζαηλ βασιλέα Συρίας καὶ Οχοζιας υἱὸς Ιωραμ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα κατέβη θεάσασθαι τὸν Ιωραμ υἱὸν Αχααβ εἰς Ιεζραελ ὅτι ἠρρώστει (lxx) 2Ch 22:6 Qui reversus est ut curaretur in Jezrahel: multas enim plagas acceperat in supradicto certamine. Igitur Ochozias filius Joram rex Juda descendit ut inviseret Joram filium Achab in Jezrahel ægrotantem.(vulgate) 6 ׃22 וַיָּ֜שָׁב לְהִתְרַפֵּ֣א בְיִזְרְעֶ֗אל כִּ֤י הַמַּכִּים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִכֻּ֣הוּ בָֽרָמָ֔ה בְּהִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וֹ אֶת־חֲזָהאֵ֖ל מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֑ם וַעֲזַרְיָ֨הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹרָ֜ם מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֗ה יָרַ֡ד לִרְא֞וֹת אֶת־יְהוֹרָ֧ם בֶּן־אַחְאָ֛ב בְּיִזְרְעֶ֖אל כִּי־חֹלֶ֥ה הֽוּא׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:6 daß er umkehrte, sich heilen zu lassen zu Jesreel; denn er hatte Wunden, die ihm geschlagen waren zu Rama, da er stritt mit Hasael, dem König von Syrien. Und Ahasja, der Sohn Jorams, der König Juda's, zog hinab, zu besuchen Joram, den Sohn Ahabs, zu Jesreel, der krank lag.(dhs) 2Ch 22:6 Then he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:7 ============ 2Ch 22:7 Now the destruction of Ahaziah was from God, in that he went to Joram. For when he came, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.(nas) 2Ch 22:7 καὶ παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγένετο καταστροφὴ Οχοζια ἐλθεῖν πρὸς Ιωραμ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν ἐξῆλθεν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ Ιωραμ πρὸς Ιου υἱὸν Ναμεσσι χριστὸν κυρίου τὸν οἶκον Αχααβ (lxx) 2Ch 22:7 Voluntatis quippe fuit Dei adversus Ochoziam, ut veniret ad Joram: et cum venisset, et egrederetur cum eo adversum Jehu filium Namsi, quem unxit Dominus ut deleret domum Achab.(vulgate) 7 ׃22 וּמֵֽאֱלֹהִ֗ים הָיְתָה֙ תְּבוּסַ֣ת אֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ לָב֖וֹא אֶל־יוֹרָ֑ם וּבְבֹא֗וֹ יָצָ֤א עִם־יְהוֹרָם֙ אֶל־יֵה֣וּא בֶן־נִמְשִׁ֔י אֲשֶׁ֣ר מְשָׁח֣וֹ יְהוָ֔ה לְהַכְרִ֖ית אֶת־בֵּ֥ית אַחְאָֽב׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:7 Denn es war von Gott Ahasja der Unfall zugefügt, daß er zu Joram käme und also mit Joram auszöge wider Jehu, den Sohn Nimsis, welchen der HERR gesalbt hatte, auszurotten das Haus Ahab.(dhs) 2Ch 22:7 His going to Joram was God's occasion for Ahaziah's downfall; for when he arrived, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:8 ============ 2Ch 22:8 It came about when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers ministering to Ahaziah, and slew them.(nas) 2Ch 22:8 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξεδίκησεν Ιου τὸν οἶκον Αχααβ καὶ εὗρεν τοὺς ἄρχοντας Ιουδα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς Οχοζια λειτουργοῦντας τῷ Οχοζια καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτούς (lxx) 2Ch 22:8 Cum ergo everteret Jehu domum Achab, invenit principes Juda, et filios fratrum Ochoziæ, qui ministrabant ei, et interfecit illos.(vulgate) 8 ׃22 וַיְהִ֕י כְּהִשָּׁפֵ֥ט יֵה֖וּא עִם־בֵּ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב וַיִּמְצָא֩ אֶת־שָׂרֵ֨י יְהוּדָ֜ה וּבְנֵ֨י אֲחֵ֧י אֲחַזְיָ֛הוּ מְשָׁרְתִ֥ים לַאֲחַזְיָ֖הוּ וַיַּהַרְגֵֽם׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:8 Da nun Jehu Strafe übte am Hause Ahab, fand er etliche Oberste aus Juda und die Kinder der Brüder Ahasjas, die Ahasja dienten, und erwürgte sie.(dhs) 2Ch 22:8 And it happened, when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers who served Ahaziah, that he killed them.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:9 ============ 2Ch 22:9 He also sought Ahaziah, and they caught him while he was hiding in Samaria; they brought him to Jehu, put him to death and buried him. For they said, "He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart." So there was no one of the house of Ahaziah to retain the power of the kingdom.(nas) 2Ch 22:9 καὶ εἶπεν τοῦ ζητῆσαι τὸν Οχοζιαν καὶ κατέλαβον αὐτὸν ἰατρευόμενον ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν πρὸς Ιου καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτόν ὅτι εἶπαν υἱὸς Ιωσαφατ ἐστίν ὃς ἐζήτησεν τὸν κύριον ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἐν οἴκῳ Οχοζια κατισχῦσαι δύναμιν περὶ τῆς βασιλείας (lxx) 2Ch 22:9 Ipsum quoque perquirens Ochoziam, comprehendit latitantem in Samaria: adductumque ad se, occidit: et sepelierunt eum, eo quod esset filius Josaphat, qui quæsierat Dominum in toto corde suo.~ Nec erat ultra spes aliqua ut de stirpe quis regnaret Ochoziæ:(vulgate) 9 ׃22 וַיְבַקֵּשׁ֩ אֶת־אֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ וַֽיִּלְכְּדֻ֜הוּ וְה֧וּא מִתְחַבֵּ֣א בְשֹֽׁמְר֗וֹן וַיְבִאֻ֣הוּ אֶל־יֵהוּא֮ וַיְמִתֻהוּ֒ וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֔הוּ כִּ֤י אָֽמְרוּ֙ בֶּן־יְהוֹשָׁפָ֣ט ה֔וּא אֲשֶׁר־דָּרַ֥שׁ אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה בְּכָל־לְבָב֑וֹ וְאֵין֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ לַעְצֹ֥ר כֹּ֖חַ לְמַמְלָכָֽה׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:9 Und er suchte Ahasja, und sie fingen ihn, da er sich versteckt hatte zu Samaria. Und er ward zu Jehu gebracht; der tötete ihn, und man begrub ihn. Denn sie sprachen: Er ist Josaphats Sohn, der nach dem HERRN trachtete von ganzem Herzen. Und es niemand mehr aus dem Hause Ahasja, der tüchtig war zum Königreich.(dhs) 2Ch 22:9 Then he searched for Ahaziah; and they caught him (he was hiding in Samaria), and brought him to Jehu. When they had killed him, they buried him, "because," they said, "he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart." So the house of Ahaziah had no one to assume power over the kingdom.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:10 ============ 2Ch 22:10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose and destroyed all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.(nas) 2Ch 22:10 καὶ Γοθολια ἡ μήτηρ Οχοζια εἶδεν ὅτι τέθνηκεν αὐτῆς ὁ υἱός καὶ ἠγέρθη καὶ ἀπώλεσεν πᾶν τὸ σπέρμα τῆς βασιλείας ἐν οἴκῳ Ιουδα (lxx) 2Ch 22:10 siquidem Athalia mater ejus, videns quod mortuus esset filius suus, surrexit, et interfecit omnem stirpem regiam domus Joram.(vulgate) 10 ׃22 וַעֲתַלְיָ֙הוּ֙ אֵ֣ם אֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ רָאֲתָ֖ה כִּ֣י מֵ֣ת בְּנָ֑הּ וַתָּ֗קָם וַתְּדַבֵּ֛ר אֶת־כָּל־זֶ֥רַע הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה לְבֵ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:10 Da aber Athalja, die Mutter Ahasjas, sah, daß ihr Sohn tot war, machte sie sich auf und brachte um alle vom königlichen Geschlecht im Hause Juda.(dhs) 2Ch 22:10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal heirs of the house of Judah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:11 ============ 2Ch 22:11 But Jehoshabeath the king's daughter took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she would not put him to death.(nas) 2Ch 22:11 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ιωσαβεθ ἡ θυγάτηρ τοῦ βασιλέως τὸν Ιωας υἱὸν Οχοζια καὶ ἔκλεψεν αὐτὸν ἐκ μέσου υἱῶν τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν θανατουμένων καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν καὶ τὴν τροφὸν αὐτοῦ εἰς ταμίειον τῶν κλινῶν καὶ ἔκρυψεν αὐτὸν Ιωσαβεθ θυγάτηρ τοῦ βασιλέως Ιωραμ ἀδελφὴ Οχοζιου γυνὴ Ιωδαε τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἔκρυψεν αὐτὸν ἀπὸ προσώπου Γοθολιας καὶ οὐκ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν (lxx) 2Ch 22:11 Porro Josabeth filia regis tulit Joas filium Ochoziæ, et furata est eum de medio filiorum regis, cum interficerentur: absconditque eum cum nutrice sua in cubiculo lectulorum: Josabeth autem, quæ absconderat eum, erat filia regis Joram, uxor Jojadæ pontificis, soror Ochoziæ: et idcirco Athalia non interfecit eum.(vulgate) 11 ׃22 וַתִּקַּח֩ יְהוֹשַׁבְעַ֨ת בַּת־הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־יוֹאָ֣שׁ בֶּן־אֲחַזְיָ֗הוּ וַתִּגְנֹ֤ב אֹתוֹ֙ מִתּ֤וֹךְ בְּנֵֽי־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַמּ֣וּמָתִ֔ים וַתִּתֵּ֥ן אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־מֵֽינִקְתּ֖וֹ בַּחֲדַ֣ר הַמִּטּ֑וֹת וַתַּסְתִּירֵ֡הוּ יְהוֹשַׁבְעַ֣ת בַּת־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ יְהוֹרָ֡ם אֵשֶׁת֩ יְהוֹיָדָ֨ע הַכֹּהֵ֜ן כִּ֣י הִיא֩ הָיְתָ֨ה אֲח֧וֹת אֲחַזְיָ֛הוּ מִפְּנֵ֥י עֲתַלְיָ֖הוּ וְלֹ֥א הֱמִיתָֽתְהוּ׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:11 Aber Josabeath, die Königstochter, nahm Joas, den Sohn Ahasjas, und stahl ihn unter den Kindern des Königs, die getötet wurden, und tat ihn mit seiner Amme in die Bettkammer. Also verbarg ihn Josabeath, die Tochter des Königs Joram, des Priesters Jojada Weib (denn sie war Ahasjas Schwester), vor Athalja, daß er nicht getötet ward.(dhs) 2Ch 22:11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king's sons who were being murdered, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she did not kill him.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 22:12 ============ 2Ch 22:12 He was hidden with them in the house of God six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.(nas) 2Ch 22:12 καὶ ἦν μετ᾽ αὐτῆς ἐν οἴκῳ τοῦ θεοῦ κατακεκρυμμένος ἓξ ἔτη καὶ Γοθολια ἐβασίλευσεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) 2Ch 22:12 Fuit ergo cum eis in domo Dei absconditus sex annis, quibus regnavit Athalia super terram.(vulgate) 12 ׃22 וַיְהִ֤י אִתָּם֙ בְּבֵ֣ית הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים מִתְחַבֵּ֖א שֵׁ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וַעֲתַלְיָ֖ה מֹלֶ֥כֶת עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ פ Chronicles2 2Ch 22:12 Und er war bei ihnen im Hause Gottes versteckt sechs Jahre, solange Athalja Königin war im Lande.(dhs) 2Ch 22:12 And he was hidden with them in the house of God for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 23:1 ============ top of the page
