Today's Date: ======= Proverbs 29:1 ============ Pro 29:1 A man who hardens his neck after much reproof Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy.(nas) Pro 29:1 κρείσσων ἀνὴρ ἐλέγχων ἀνδρὸς σκληροτραχήλου ἐξαπίνης γὰρ φλεγομένου αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔστιν ἴασις (lxx) Pro 29:1 [Viro qui corripientem dura cervice contemnit, repentinus ei superveniet interitus, et eum sanitas non sequetur.(vulgate) 1 ׃29 אִ֣ישׁ תּ֭וֹכָחוֹת מַקְשֶׁה־עֹ֑רֶף פֶּ֥תַע יִ֝שָּׁבֵ֗ר וְאֵ֣ין מַרְפֵּֽא׃ Proverbs Pro 29:1 Wer wider die Strafe halsstarrig ist, der wird plötzlich verderben ohne alle Hilfe.(dhs) Pro 29:1 He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:2 ============ Pro 29:2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan.(nas) Pro 29:2 ἐγκωμιαζομένων δικαίων εὐφρανθήσονται λαοί ἀρχόντων δὲ ἀσεβῶν στένουσιν ἄνδρες (lxx) Pro 29:2 In multiplicatione justorum lætabitur vulgus; cum impii sumpserint principatum, gemet populus.(vulgate) 2 ׃29 בִּרְב֣וֹת צַ֭דִּיקִים יִשְׂמַ֣ח הָעָ֑ם וּבִמְשֹׁ֥ל רָ֝שָׁ֗ע יֵאָ֥נַֽח עָֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 29:2 Wenn der Gerechten viel sind, freut sich das Volk; wenn aber der Gottlose herrscht, seufzt das Volk.(dhs) Pro 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:3 ============ Pro 29:3 A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad, But he who keeps company with harlots wastes his wealth.(nas) Pro 29:3 ἀνδρὸς φιλοῦντος σοφίαν εὐφραίνεται πατὴρ αὐτοῦ ὃς δὲ ποιμαίνει πόρνας ἀπολεῖ πλοῦτον (lxx) Pro 29:3 Vir qui amat sapientiam lætificat patrem suum; qui autem nutrit scorta perdet substantiam.(vulgate) 3 ׃29 אִֽישׁ־אֹהֵ֣ב חָ֭כְמָה יְשַׂמַּ֣ח אָבִ֑יו וְרֹעֶ֥ה ז֝וֹנ֗וֹת יְאַבֶּד־הֽוֹן׃ Proverbs Pro 29:3 Wer Weisheit liebt, erfreut seinen Vater; wer aber mit Huren umgeht, kommt um sein Gut.(dhs) Pro 29:3 Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice, But a companion of harlots wastes his wealth.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:4 ============ Pro 29:4 The king gives stability to the land by justice, But a man who takes bribes overthrows it.(nas) Pro 29:4 βασιλεὺς δίκαιος ἀνίστησιν χώραν ἀνὴρ δὲ παράνομος κατασκάπτει (lxx) Pro 29:4 Rex justus erigit terram; vir avarus destruet eam.(vulgate) 4 ׃29 מֶ֗לֶךְ בְּ֭מִשְׁפָּט יַעֲמִ֣יד אָ֑רֶץ וְאִ֖ישׁ תְּרוּמ֣וֹת יֶֽהֶרְסֶֽנָּה׃ Proverbs Pro 29:4 Ein König richtet das Land auf durchs Recht; ein geiziger aber verderbt es.(dhs) Pro 29:4 The king establishes the land by justice, But he who receives bribes overthrows it.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:5 ============ Pro 29:5 A man who flatters his neighbor Is spreading a net for his steps.(nas) Pro 29:5 ὃς παρασκευάζεται ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τοῦ ἑαυτοῦ φίλου δίκτυον περιβάλλει αὐτὸ τοῖς ἑαυτοῦ ποσίν (lxx) Pro 29:5 Homo qui blandis fictisque sermonibus loquitur amico suo rete expandit gressibus ejus.(vulgate) 5 ׃29 גֶּ֭בֶר מַחֲלִ֣יק עַל־רֵעֵ֑הוּ רֶ֝֗שֶׁת פּוֹרֵ֥שׂ עַל־פְּעָמָֽיו׃ Proverbs Pro 29:5 Wer mit seinem Nächsten heuchelt, der breitet ein Netz aus für seine Tritte.(dhs) Pro 29:5 A man who flatters his neighbor Spreads a net for his feet.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:6 ============ Pro 29:6 By transgression an evil man is ensnared, But the righteous sings and rejoices.(nas) Pro 29:6 ἁμαρτάνοντι ἀνδρὶ μεγάλη παγίς δίκαιος δὲ ἐν χαρᾷ καὶ ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ ἔσται (lxx) Pro 29:6 Peccantem virum iniquum involvet laqueus, et justus laudabit atque gaudebit.(vulgate) 6 ׃29 בְּפֶ֤שַֽׁע אִ֣ישׁ רָ֣ע מוֹקֵ֑שׁ וְ֝צַדִּ֗יק יָר֥וּן וְשָׂמֵֽחַ׃ Proverbs Pro 29:6 Wenn ein Böser sündigt, verstrickt er sich selbst; aber ein Gerechter freut sich und hat Wonne.(dhs) Pro 29:6 By transgression an evil man is snared, But the righteous sings and rejoices.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:7 ============ Pro 29:7 The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor, The wicked does not understand such concern.(nas) Pro 29:7 ἐπίσταται δίκαιος κρίνειν πενιχροῖς ὁ δὲ ἀσεβὴς οὐ συνήσει γνῶσιν καὶ πτωχῷ οὐχ ὑπάρχει νοῦς ἐπιγνώμων (lxx) Pro 29:7 Novit justus causam pauperum; impius ignorat scientiam.(vulgate) 7 ׃29 יֹדֵ֣עַ צַ֭דִּיק דִּ֣ין דַּלִּ֑ים רָ֝שָׁ֗ע לֹא־יָבִ֥ין דָּֽעַת׃ Proverbs Pro 29:7 Der Gerechte erkennt die Sache der Armen; der Gottlose achtet keine Vernunft.(dhs) Pro 29:7 The righteous considers the cause of the poor, But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:8 ============ Pro 29:8 Scorners set a city aflame, But wise men turn away anger.(nas) Pro 29:8 ἄνδρες λοιμοὶ ἐξέκαυσαν πόλιν σοφοὶ δὲ ἀπέστρεψαν ὀργήν (lxx) Pro 29:8 Homines pestilentes dissipant civitatem; sapientes vero avertunt furorem.(vulgate) 8 ׃29 אַנְשֵׁ֣י לָ֭צוֹן יָפִ֣יחוּ קִרְיָ֑ה וַ֝חֲכָמִ֗ים יָשִׁ֥יבוּ אָֽף׃ Proverbs Pro 29:8 Die Spötter bringen frech eine Stadt in Aufruhr; aber die Weisen stillen den Zorn.(dhs) Pro 29:8 Scoffers set a city aflame, But wise men turn away wrath.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:9 ============ Pro 29:9 When a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, The foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest.(nas) Pro 29:9 ἀνὴρ σοφὸς κρίνει ἔθνη ἀνὴρ δὲ φαῦλος ὀργιζόμενος καταγελᾶται καὶ οὐ καταπτήσσει (lxx) Pro 29:9 Vir sapiens si cum stulto contenderit, sive irascatur, sive rideat, non inveniet requiem.(vulgate) 9 ׃29 אִֽישׁ־חָכָ֗ם נִ֭שְׁפָּט אֶת־אִ֣ישׁ אֱוִ֑יל וְרָגַ֥ז וְ֝שָׂחַ֗ק וְאֵ֣ין נָֽחַת׃ Proverbs Pro 29:9 Wenn ein Weiser mit einem Narren zu rechten kommt, er zürne oder lache, so hat er nicht Ruhe.(dhs) Pro 29:9 If a wise man contends with a foolish man, Whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:10 ============ Pro 29:10 Men of bloodshed hate the blameless, But the upright are concerned for his life.(nas) Pro 29:10 ἄνδρες αἱμάτων μέτοχοι μισήσουσιν ὅσιον οἱ δὲ εὐθεῖς ἐκζητήσουσιν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Pro 29:10 Viri sanguinum oderunt simplicem; justi autem quærunt animam ejus.(vulgate) 10 ׃29 אַנְשֵׁ֣י דָ֭מִים יִשְׂנְאוּ־תָ֑ם וִֽ֝ישָׁרִ֗ים יְבַקְשׁ֥וּ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ Proverbs Pro 29:10 Die Blutgierigen hassen den Frommen; aber die Gerechten suchen sein Heil.(dhs) Pro 29:10 The bloodthirsty hate the blameless, But the upright seek his well-being.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:11 ============ Pro 29:11 A fool always loses his temper, But a wise man holds it back.(nas) Pro 29:11 ὅλον τὸν θυμὸν αὐτοῦ ἐκφέρει ἄφρων σοφὸς δὲ ταμιεύεται κατὰ μέρος (lxx) Pro 29:11 Totum spiritum suum profert stultus; sapiens differt, et reservat in posterum.(vulgate) 11 ׃29 כָּל־ר֭וּחוֹ יוֹצִ֣יא כְסִ֑יל וְ֝חָכָ֗ם בְּאָח֥וֹר יְשַׁבְּחֶֽנָּה׃ Proverbs Pro 29:11 Ein Narr schüttet seinen Geist ganz aus; aber ein Weiser hält an sich.(dhs) Pro 29:11 A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:12 ============ Pro 29:12 If a ruler pays attention to falsehood, All his ministers become wicked.(nas) Pro 29:12 βασιλέως ὑπακούοντος λόγον ἄδικον πάντες οἱ ὑπ᾽ αὐτὸν παράνομοι (lxx) Pro 29:12 Princeps qui libenter audit verba mendacii, omnes ministros habet impios.(vulgate) 12 ׃29 מֹ֭שֵׁל מַקְשִׁ֣יב עַל־דְּבַר־שָׁ֑קֶר כָּֽל־מְשָׁרְתָ֥יו רְשָׁעִֽים׃ Proverbs Pro 29:12 Ein Herr, der zu Lügen Lust hat, des Diener sind alle gottlos.(dhs) Pro 29:12 If a ruler pays attention to lies, All his servants become wicked.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:13 ============ Pro 29:13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.(nas) Pro 29:13 δανιστοῦ καὶ χρεοφειλέτου ἀλλήλοις συνελθόντων ἐπισκοπὴν ποιεῖται ἀμφοτέρων ὁ κύριος (lxx) Pro 29:13 Pauper et creditor obviaverunt sibi: utriusque illuminator est Dominus.(vulgate) 13 ׃29 רָ֤שׁ וְאִ֣ישׁ תְּכָכִ֣ים נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ מֵ֤אִיר־עֵינֵ֖י שְׁנֵיהֶ֣ם יְהוֽ͏ָה׃ Proverbs Pro 29:13 Arme und Reiche begegnen einander: beider Augen erleuchtet der HERR.(dhs) Pro 29:13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:14 ============ Pro 29:14 If a king judges the poor with truth, His throne will be established forever.(nas) Pro 29:14 βασιλέως ἐν ἀληθείᾳ κρίνοντος πτωχοὺς ὁ θρόνος αὐτοῦ εἰς μαρτύριον κατασταθήσεται (lxx) Pro 29:14 Rex qui judicat in veritate pauperes, thronus ejus in æternum firmabitur.]~(vulgate) 14 ׃29 מֶ֤לֶךְ שׁוֹפֵ֣ט בֶּֽאֱמֶ֣ת דַּלִּ֑ים כִּ֝סְא֗וֹ לָעַ֥ד יִכּֽוֹן׃ Proverbs Pro 29:14 Ein König, der die Armen treulich richtet, des Thron wird ewig bestehen.(dhs) Pro 29:14 The king who judges the poor with truth, His throne will be established forever.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:15 ============ Pro 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.(nas) Pro 29:15 πληγαὶ καὶ ἔλεγχοι διδόασιν σοφίαν παῖς δὲ πλανώμενος αἰσχύνει γονεῖς αὐτοῦ (lxx) Pro 29:15 [Virga atque correptio tribuit sapientiam; puer autem qui dimittitur voluntati suæ confundit matrem suam.(vulgate) 15 ׃29 שֵׁ֣בֶט וְ֭תוֹכַחַת יִתֵּ֣ן חָכְמָ֑ה וְנַ֥עַר מְ֝שֻׁלָּ֗ח מֵבִ֥ישׁ אִמּֽוֹ׃ Proverbs Pro 29:15 Rute und Strafe gibt Weisheit; But the righteous will see their fall.(nas) Pro 29:16 πολλῶν ὄντων ἀσεβῶν πολλαὶ γίνονται ἁμαρτίαι οἱ δὲ δίκαιοι ἐκείνων πιπτόντων κατάφοβοι γίνονται (lxx) Pro 29:16 In multiplicatione impiorum multiplicabuntur scelera, et justi ruinas eorum videbunt.(vulgate) 16 ׃29 בִּרְב֣וֹת רְ֭שָׁעִים יִרְבֶּה־פָּ֑שַׁע וְ֝צַדִּיקִ֗ים בְּֽמַפַּלְתָּ֥ם יִרְאֽוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 29:16 Wo viele Gottlose sind, da sind viel Sünden; aber die Gerechten werden ihren Fall erleben.(dhs) Pro 29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases; But the righteous will see their fall.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:17 ============ Pro 29:17 Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul.(nas) Pro 29:17 παίδευε υἱόν σου καὶ ἀναπαύσει σε καὶ δώσει κόσμον τῇ ψυχῇ σου (lxx) Pro 29:17 Erudi filium tuum, et refrigerabit te, et dabit delicias animæ tuæ.(vulgate) 17 ׃29 יַסֵּ֣ר בִּ֭נְךָ וִֽינִיחֶ֑ךָ וְיִתֵּ֖ן מַעֲדַנִּ֣ים לְנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ פ Proverbs Pro 29:17 Züchtige deinen Sohn, so wird er dich ergötzen und wird deiner Seele sanft tun.(dhs) Pro 29:17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; qui vero custodit legem beatus est.(vulgate) 18 ׃29 בְּאֵ֣ין חָ֭זוֹן יִפָּ֣רַֽע עָ֑ם וְשֹׁמֵ֖ר תּוֹרָ֣ה אַשְׁרֵֽהוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 29:18 Wo keine Weissagung ist, wird das Volk wild und wüst; wohl aber dem, der das Gesetz handhabt!(dhs) Pro 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:19 ============ Pro 29:19 A slave will not be instructed by words alone; For though he understands, there will be no response.(nas) Pro 29:19 λόγοις οὐ παιδευθήσεται οἰκέτης σκληρός ἐὰν γὰρ καὶ νοήσῃ ἀλλ᾽ οὐχ ὑπακούσεται (lxx) Pro 29:19 Servus verbis non potest erudiri, quia quod dicis intelligit, et respondere contemnit.(vulgate) 19 ׃29 בִּ֭דְבָרִים לֹא־יִוָּ֣סֶר עָ֑בֶד כִּֽי־יָ֝בִ֗ין וְאֵ֣ין מַעֲנֶֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 29:19 Ein Knecht läßt sich mit Worten nicht züchtigen; denn ob er sie gleich versteht, nimmt er sich's doch nicht an.(dhs) Pro 29:19 A servant will not be corrected by mere words; For though he understands, he will not respond.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 29:20 ============ Pro 29:20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.(nas) Pro 29:20 ἐὰν ἴδῃς ἄνδρα ταχὺν ἐν λόγοις γίνωσκε ὅτι ἐλπίδα ἔχει μᾶλλον ἄφρων αὐτοῦ (lxx) Pro 29:20 Vidisti hominem velocem ad loquendum? stultitia magis speranda est quam illius correptio.(vulgate) 20 ׃29 חָזִ֗יתָ אִ֭ישׁ אָ֣ץ בִּדְבָרָ֑יו תִּקְוָ֖ה לִכְסִ֣יל מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 29:20 Siehst du einen, der schnell ist zu reden, da ist am Narren mehr Hoffnung denn an ihm.(dhs) Pro 29:20 Do you see a man hasty in his words?
