(Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:1 Erat autem quidam languens Lazarus a Bethania, de castello Mariæ et Marthæ sororis ejus.(vulgate) וַיְהִי אִישׁ חֹלֶה וּשְׁמוֹ אֶלְעָזָר מִבֵּית־עַנְיָה מְקוֹם מוֹשַׁב מִרְיָם וּמַרְתָא אֲחוֹתָהּ׃ א John Jn 11:1 Es lag aber einer krank mit Namen Lazarus, von Bethanien, in dem Flecken Marias und ihrer Schwester Martha.(dhs) Jn 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.(nkjv) ======= John 11:2 ============ Jn 11:2 It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.(nas) Jn 11:2 ἦν δὲ μαριὰμ ἡ ἀλείψασα τὸν κύριον μύρῳ καὶ ἐκμάξασα τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ ταῖς θριξὶν αὐτῆς, ἧς ὁ ἀδελφὸς λάζαρος ἠσθένει. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:2 (Maria autem erat quæ unxit Dominum unguento, et extersit pedes ejus capillis suis: cujus frater Lazarus infirmabatur.)(vulgate) הִיא מִרְיָם אֲשֶׁר מָשְׁחָה אֶת־הָאָדוֹן בְּשֶׁמֶן רֹקֵחַ וּבְשַׂעֲרֹתֶיהָ נִגְּבָה אֶת־רַגְלָיו וְאֶלְעָזָר הוּא אָחִיהָ אֲשֶׁר חָלָה׃ ב John Jn 11:2 (Maria aber war, die den HERRN gesalbt hat mit Salbe und seine Füße getrocknet mit ihrem Haar; deren Bruder, Lazarus, war krank.)(dhs) Jn 11:2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.(nkjv) ======= John 11:3 ============ Jn 11:3 So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."(nas) Jn 11:3 ἀπέστειλαν οὗν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσαι, κύριε, ἴδε ὃν φιλεῖς ἀσθενεῖ. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:3 Miserunt ergo sorores ejus ad eum dicentes: Domine, ecce quem amas infirmatur.(vulgate) וַתִּשְׁלַחְנָה הָאֲחָיוֹת אֵלָיו לֵאמֹר אֲדֹנִי הִנֵּה זֶה אֲשֶׁר נַפְשְׁךָ אֲהֵבַתְהוּ חֹלֶה הוּא׃ ג John Jn 11:3 Da sandten seine Schwestern zu ihm und ließen ihm sagen: HERR, siehe, den du liebhast, der liegt krank.(dhs) Jn 11:3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."(nkjv) ======= John 11:4 ============ Jn 11:4 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."(nas) Jn 11:4 ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, αὕτη ἡ ἀσθένεια οὐκ ἔστιν πρὸς θάνατον ἀλλ᾽ ὑπὲρ τῆς δόξης τοῦ θεοῦ, ἵνα δοξασθῇ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ δι᾽ αὐτῆς. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:4 Audiens autem Jesus dixit eis: Infirmitas hæc non est ad mortem, sed pro gloria Dei, ut glorificetur Filius Dei per eam.(vulgate) וַיִשְׁמַע יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמַר הַמַּחֲלָה הַזֹּאת לֹא לַמָּוֶת כִּי אִם־לִכְבוֹד הָאֱלֹהִים לְמַעַן יִכָּבֶד־בָּהּ בֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים׃ ד John Jn 11:4 Da Jesus das hörte, sprach er: Die Krankheit ist nicht zum Tode, sondern zur Ehre Gottes, daß der Sohn Gottes dadurch geehrt werde.(dhs) Jn 11:4 When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it."(nkjv) ======= John 11:5 ============ Jn 11:5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.(nas) Jn 11:5 ἠγάπα δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς τὴν μάρθαν καὶ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῆς καὶ τὸν λάζαρον. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:5 Diligebat autem Jesus Martham, et sororem ejus Mariam, et Lazarum.(vulgate) וְיֵשׁוּעַ אָהַב אֶת־מַרְתָא וְאֶת־אֲחוֹתָהּ וְאֶת־אֶלְעָזָר׃ ה John Jn 11:5 Jesus aber hatte Martha lieb und ihre Schwester und Lazarus.(dhs) Jn 11:5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.(nkjv) ======= John 11:6 ============ Jn 11:6 So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.(nas) Jn 11:6 ὡς οὗν ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἀσθενεῖ, τότε μὲν ἔμεινεν ἐν ᾧ ἦν τόπῳ δύο ἡμέρας· (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:6 Ut ergo audivit quia infirmabatur, tunc quidem mansit in eodem loco duobus diebus;(vulgate) וַיְהִי בְּשָׁמְעוֹ כִּי חָלָה וַיִּתְמַהְמַהּ וַיֵּשֶׁב יוֹמַיִם בַּמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר־הוּא שָׁם׃ ו John Jn 11:6 Als er nun hörte, daß er krank war, blieb er zwei Tage an dem Ort, da er war.(dhs) Jn 11:6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.(nkjv) ======= John 11:7 ============ Jn 11:7 Then after this He said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."(nas) Jn 11:7 ἔπειτα μετὰ τοῦτο λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς, ἄγωμεν εἰς τὴν ἰουδαίαν πάλιν. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:7 deinde post hæc dixit discipulis suis: Eamus in Judæam iterum.(vulgate) וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן אָמַר לְתַלְמִידָיו לְכוּ וְנָשׁוּבָה אֶל־אֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה׃ ז John Jn 11:7 Darnach spricht er zu seinen Jüngern: Laßt uns wieder nach Judäa ziehen!(dhs) Jn 11:7 Then after this He said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."(nkjv) ======= John 11:8 ============ Jn 11:8 The disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again?"(nas) Jn 11:8 λέγουσιν αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταί, ῥαββί, νῦν ἐζήτουν σε λιθάσαι οἱ ἰουδαῖοι, καὶ πάλιν ὑπάγεις ἐκεῖ; (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:8 Dicunt ei discipuli: Rabbi, nunc quærebant te Judæi lapidare, et iterum vadis illuc?(vulgate) וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו תַּלְמִידָיו רַבֵּנוּ הֲלֹא זֶה עַתָּה בִּקְשׁוּ הַיְּהוּדִים לִסְקָלְךָ וְאַתָּה עוֹד תָּשׁוּב שָׁמָּה׃ ח John Jn 11:8 Seine Jünger sprachen zu ihm: Meister, jenes Mal wollten die Juden dich steinigen, und du willst wieder dahin ziehen?(dhs) Jn 11:8 The disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?"(nkjv) ======= John 11:9 ============ Jn 11:9 Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.(nas) Jn 11:9 ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς, οὐχὶ δώδεκα ὧραί εἰσιν τῆς ἡμέρας; ἐάν τις περιπατῇ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, οὐ προσκόπτει, ὅτι τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου τούτου βλέπει· (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:9 Respondit Jesus: Nonne duodecim sunt horæ diei? Si quis ambulaverit in die, non offendit, quia lucem hujus mundi videt:(vulgate) וַיַּעַן יֵשׁוּעַ הֲלֹא שְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁעוֹת בַּיּוֹם אִישׁ הַהֹלֵךְ בַּיּוֹם לֹא יִכָּשֵׁל כִּי יִרְאֶה אוֹר הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה׃ ט John Jn 11:9 Jesus antwortete: Sind nicht des Tages zwölf Stunden? Wer des Tages wandelt, der stößt sich nicht; denn er sieht das Licht dieser Welt.(dhs) Jn 11:9 Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.(nkjv) ======= John 11:10 ============ Jn 11:10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."(nas) Jn 11:10 ἐὰν δέ τις περιπατῇ ἐν τῇ νυκτί, προσκόπτει, ὅτι τὸ φῶς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐτῶ. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:10 si autem ambulaverit in nocte, offendit, quia lux non est in eo.(vulgate) אֲבָל הַהֹלֵךְ בַּלַּיְלָה יִכָּשֵׁל כִּי הָאוֹר אֵינֶנּוּ־בוֹ׃ י John Jn 11:10 Wer aber des Nachts wandelt, der stößt sich; denn es ist kein Licht in ihm.(dhs) Jn 11:10 But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."(nkjv) ======= John 11:11 ============ Jn 11:11 This He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep."(nas) Jn 11:11 ταῦτα εἶπεν, καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο λέγει αὐτοῖς, λάζαρος ὁ φίλος ἡμῶν κεκοίμηται, ἀλλὰ πορεύομαι ἵνα ἐξυπνίσω αὐτόν. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:11 Hæc ait, et post hæc dixit eis: Lazarus amicus noster dormit: sed vado ut a somno excitem eum.(vulgate) וְאַחֲרֵי דַבְּרוֹ כָזֹאת אָמַר אֲלֵיהֶם אֶלְעָזָר יְדִידֵנוּ יָשֵׁן וַאֲנִי הֹלֵךְ לְהָעִיר אֹתוֹ מִשְּׁנָתוֹ׃ יא John Jn 11:11 Solches sagte er, und darnach spricht er zu ihnen: Lazarus, unser Freund, schläft; aber ich gehe hin, daß ich ihn auferwecke.(dhs) Jn 11:11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up."(nkjv) ======= John 11:12 ============ Jn 11:12 The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."(nas) Jn 11:12 εἶπαν οὗν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτῶ, κύριε, εἰ κεκοίμηται σωθήσεται. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:12 Dixerunt ergo discipuli ejus: Domine, si dormit, salvus erit.(vulgate) וַיַּעֲנוּ תַלְמִידָיו אֲדֹנִי אִם־יָשֵׁן הוּא שְׁנָתוֹ תַחֲלִימֵהוּ וָחָי׃ יב John Jn 11:12 Da sprachen seine Jünger: HERR, schläft er, so wird's besser mit ihm.(dhs) Jn 11:12 Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps he will get well."(nkjv) ======= John 11:13 ============ Jn 11:13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep.(nas) Jn 11:13 εἰρήκει δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς περὶ τοῦ θανάτου αὐτοῦ. ἐκεῖνοι δὲ ἔδοξαν ὅτι περὶ τῆς κοιμήσεως τοῦ ὕπνου λέγει. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:13 Dixerat autem Jesus de morte ejus: illi autem putaverunt quia de dormitione somni diceret.(vulgate) וְיֵשׁוּעַ דִּבֶּר כֵּן עַל־מוֹתוֹ וְהֵם חָשְׁבוּ כִּי עַל־מְנוּחָתוֹ בַּשֵּׁנָה הוּא מְדַבֵּר׃ יג John Jn 11:13 Jesus aber sagte von seinem Tode; sie meinten aber, er redete vom leiblichen Schlaf.(dhs) Jn 11:13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.(nkjv) ======= John 11:14 ============ Jn 11:14 So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead,(nas) Jn 11:14 τότε οὗν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς παρρησίᾳ, λάζαρος ἀπέθανεν, (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:14 Tunc ergo Jesus dixit eis manifeste: Lazarus mortuus est:(vulgate) אָז אָמַר אֲלֵיהֶם יֵשׁוּעַ בְּשָׂפָה בְרוּרָה אֶלְעָזָר מֵת׃ יד John Jn 11:14 Da sagte es ihnen Jesus frei heraus: Lazarus ist gestorben;(dhs) Jn 11:14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead.(nkjv) ======= John 11:15 ============ Jn 11:15 and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him."(nas) Jn 11:15 καὶ χαίρω δι᾽ ὑμᾶς, ἵνα πιστεύσητε, ὅτι οὐκ ἤμην ἐκεῖ· ἀλλὰ ἄγωμεν πρὸς αὐτόν. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:15 et gaudeo propter vos, ut credatis, quoniam non eram ibi, sed eamus ad eum.(vulgate) וַאֲנִי שָׂמֵחַ לְמַעַנְכֶם כִּי לֹא־הָיִיתִי שָׁמָּה לְבַעֲבוּר תַּאֲמִינוּ אַךְ נֵלְכָה־נָּא אֵלָיו׃ טו John Jn 11:15 und ich bin froh um euretwillen, daß ich nicht dagewesen bin, auf daß ihr glaubt. Aber laßt uns zu ihm ziehen!(dhs) Jn 11:15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him."(nkjv) ======= John 11:16 ============ Jn 11:16 Therefore Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, so that we may die with Him."(nas) Jn 11:16 εἶπεν οὗν θωμᾶς ὁ λεγόμενος δίδυμος τοῖς συμμαθηταῖς, ἄγωμεν καὶ ἡμεῖς ἵνα ἀποθάνωμεν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:16 Dixit ergo Thomas, qui dicitur Didymus, ad condiscipulos: Eamus et nos, ut moriamur cum eo.(vulgate) וַיֹּאמֶר תּוֹמָא הַנִּקְרָא דִידוּמוֹס אֶל־חֲבֵרָיו הַתַּלְמִידִים נֵלְכָה־נָּא גַּם־אֲנַחְנוּ וְנָמוּתָה עִמּוֹ׃ טז John Jn 11:16 Da sprach Thomas, der genannt ist Zwilling, zu den Jüngern: Laßt uns mitziehen, daß wir mit ihm sterben!(dhs) Jn 11:16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him."(nkjv) ======= John 11:17 ============ Jn 11:17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.(nas) Jn 11:17 ἐλθὼν οὗν ὁ ἰησοῦς εὖρεν αὐτὸν τέσσαρας ἤδη ἡμέρας ἔχοντα ἐν τῶ μνημείῳ. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:17 Venit itaque Jesus: et invenit eum quatuor dies jam in monumento habentem.(vulgate) וַיָּבֹא יֵשׁוּעַ וַיִּמְצָא כִּי זֶה כְבָר אַרְבָּעָה יָמִים שֹׁכֵב בַּקָּבֶר׃ יז John Jn 11:17 Da kam Jesus und fand ihn, daß er schon vier Tage im Grabe gelegen hatte.(dhs) Jn 11:17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.(nkjv) ======= John 11:18 ============ Jn 11:18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off;(nas) Jn 11:18 ἦν δὲ ἡ βηθανία ἐγγὺς τῶν ἱεροσολύμων ὡς ἀπὸ σταδίων δεκαπέντε. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:18 (Erat autem Bethania juxta Jerosolymam quasi stadiis quindecim.)(vulgate) וּבֵית־עַנְיָה קְרֹבָה לִירוּשָׁלָיִם כַּחֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה מַעֲנוֹת צֶמֶד שָׂדֶה׃ יח John Jn 11:18 Bethanien aber war nahe bei Jerusalem, bei fünfzehn Feld Weges;(dhs) Jn 11:18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.(nkjv) ======= John 11:19 ============ Jn 11:19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.(nas) Jn 11:19 πολλοὶ δὲ ἐκ τῶν ἰουδαίων ἐληλύθεισαν πρὸς τὴν μάρθαν καὶ μαριὰμ ἵνα παραμυθήσωνται αὐτὰς περὶ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:19 Multi autem ex Judæis venerant ad Martham et Mariam, ut consolarentur eas de fratre suo.(vulgate) וִיהוּדִים רַבִּים בָּאוּ אֶל־מַרְתָא וּמִרְיָם לְנַחֲמָן עַל־אֲחִיהֶן׃ יט John Jn 11:19 und viele Juden waren zu Martha und Maria gekommen, sie zu trösten über ihren Bruder.(dhs) Jn 11:19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.(nkjv) ======= John 11:20 ============ Jn 11:20 Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed at the house.(nas) Jn 11:20 ἡ οὗν μάρθα ὡς ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἰησοῦς ἔρχεται ὑπήντησεν αὐτῶ· μαριὰμ δὲ ἐν τῶ οἴκῳ ἐκαθέζετο. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:20 Martha ergo ut audivit quia Jesus venit, occurrit illi: Maria autem domi sedebat.(vulgate) וַיְהִי כִּשְׁמֹעַ מַרְתָא כִּי יֵשׁוּעַ בָּא וַתֵּצֵא לִקְרָאתוֹ וּמִרְיָם יֹשֶׁבֶת בַּבָּיִת׃ כ John Jn 11:20 Als Martha nun hörte, daß Jesus kommt, geht sie ihm entgegen; Maria aber blieb daheim sitzen.(dhs) Jn 11:20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.(nkjv) ======= John 11:21 ============ Jn 11:21 Martha then said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.(nas) Jn 11:21 εἶπεν οὗν ἡ μάρθα πρὸς τὸν ἰησοῦν, κύριε, εἰ ἦς ὧδε οὐκ ἂν ἀπέθανεν ὁ ἀδελφός μου· (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:21 Dixit ergo Martha ad Jesum: Domine, si fuisses hic, frater meus non fuisset mortuus:(vulgate) וַתֹּאמֶר מַרְתָא אֶל־יֵשׁוּעַ אֲדֹנִי לוּ הָיִיתָ פֹּה עִמָּנוּ וְלֹא־מֵת אָחִי׃ כא John Jn 11:21 Da sprach Martha zu Jesus: HERR, wärest du hier gewesen, mein Bruder wäre nicht gestorben!(dhs) Jn 11:21 Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.(nkjv) ======= John 11:22 ============ Jn 11:22 Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."(nas) Jn 11:22 [ἀλλὰ] καὶ νῦν οἶδα ὅτι ὅσα ἂν αἰτήσῃ τὸν θεὸν δώσει σοι ὁ θεός. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:22 sed et nunc scio quia quæcumque poposceris a Deo, dabit tibi Deus.(vulgate) וְגַם־עַתָּה יָדַעְתִּי כִּי כָל־אֲשֶׁר תִּשְׁאַל מֵאֵת הָאֱלֹהִים כֵּן יִתֵּן לְךָ הָאֱלֹהִים׃ כב John Jn 11:22 Aber ich weiß auch noch, daß, was du bittest von Gott, das wird dir Gott geben.(dhs) Jn 11:22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."(nkjv) ======= John 11:23 ============ Jn 11:23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."(nas) Jn 11:23 λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ ἰησοῦς, ἀναστήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:23 Dicit illi Jesus: Resurget frater tuus.(vulgate) וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלֶיהָ יֵשׁוּעַ הֲלֹא יָקוּם אָחִיךְ׃ כג John Jn 11:23 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Dein Bruder soll auferstehen.(dhs) Jn 11:23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."(nkjv) ======= John 11:24 ============ Jn 11:24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."(nas) Jn 11:24 λέγει αὐτῶ ἡ μάρθα, οἶδα ὅτι ἀναστήσεται ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ. For this man is performing many signs.(nas) Jn 11:47 συνήγαγον οὗν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ φαρισαῖοι συνέδριον, καὶ ἔλεγον, τί ποιοῦμεν, ὅτι οὖτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος πολλὰ ποιεῖ σημεῖα; (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:47 Collegerunt ergo pontifices et pharisæi concilium, et dicebant: Quid faciamus, quia hic homo multa signa facit?(vulgate) וַיַּקְהִילוּ רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַפְּרוּשִׁים אֶת־הַסַּנְהֶדְרִין וַיֹּאמְרוּ מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה הֲלֹא הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה עֹשֶׂה מוֹפְתִים רַבִּים׃ מז John Jn 11:47 Da versammelten die Hohenpriester und die Pharisäer einen Rat und sprachen: Was tun wir? Dieser Mensch tut viele Zeichen.(dhs) Jn 11:47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.(nkjv) ======= John 11:48 ============ Jn 11:48 If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."(nas) Jn 11:48 ἐὰν ἀφῶμεν αὐτὸν οὕτως, πάντες πιστεύσουσιν εἰς αὐτόν, καὶ ἐλεύσονται οἱ ῥωμαῖοι καὶ ἀροῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν τόπον καὶ τὸ ἔθνος. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:50 nec cogitatis quia expedit vobis ut unus moriatur homo pro populo, et non tota gens pereat.(vulgate) וְגַם לֹא־תַשְּׂכִּילוּ כִּי טוֹב לָכֶם אֲשֶׁר יָמוּת אִישׁ אֶחָד בְּעַד הָעָם מֵאָבְדַן הָעָם כֻּלּוֹ׃ נ John Jn 11:50 bedenket auch nichts; es ist uns besser ein Mensch sterbe für das Volk, denn daß das ganze Volk verderbe.(dhs) Jn 11:50 nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish."(nkjv) ======= John 11:51 ============ Jn 11:51 Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,(nas) Jn 11:51 τοῦτο δὲ ἀφ᾽ ἑαυτοῦ οὐκ εἶπεν, ἀλλὰ ἀρχιερεὺς ὢν τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου ἐπροφήτευσεν ὅτι ἔμελλεν ἰησοῦς ἀποθνῄσκειν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἔθνους, (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:51 Hoc autem a semetipso non dixit: sed cum esset pontifex anni illius, prophetavit, quod Jesus moriturus erat pro gente,(vulgate) וְלֹא מִלִּבּוֹ דִּבֶּר כָּזֹאת כִּי אִם־בִּהְיוֹתוֹ כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִיא נִבָּא בְפִיו כִּי־יֵשׁוּעַ יָמוּת בְּעַד הָעָם׃ נא John Jn 11:51 (Solches aber redete er nicht von sich selbst, sondern weil er desselben Jahres Hoherpriester war, weissagte er. Denn Jesus sollte sterben für das Volk;(dhs) Jn 11:51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,(nkjv) ======= John 11:52 ============ Jn 11:52 and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.(nas) Jn 11:52 καὶ οὐχ ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἔθνους μόνον ἀλλ᾽ ἵνα καὶ τὰ τέκνα τοῦ θεοῦ τὰ διεσκορπισμένα συναγάγῃ εἰς ἕν. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:52 et non tantum pro gente, sed ut filios Dei, qui erant dispersi, congregaret in unum.(vulgate) וְלֹא־לְבַד בְּעַד הָעָם כִּי אִם־גַּם־לְקַבֵּץ אֶת־בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים הַנְּפֹצִים וְהָיוּ לַאֲחָדִים׃ נב John Jn 11:52 und nicht für das Volk allein, sondern daß er auch die Kinder Gottes, die zerstreut waren, zusammenbrächte.)(dhs) Jn 11:52 and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.(nkjv) ======= John 11:53 ============ Jn 11:53 So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.(nas) Jn 11:53 ἀπ᾽ ἐκείνης οὗν τῆς ἡμέρας ἐβουλεύσαντο ἵνα ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτόν. (Nestle-Aland) Jn 11:53 Ab illo ergo die cogitaverunt ut interficerent eum.~(vulgate) וּמִן־הַיּוֹם הַהוּא נוֹעֲצוּ עָלָיו יַחְדָּו לַהֲמִיתוֹ׃ נג John Jn 11:53 Von dem Tage an ratschlagten sie, wie sie ihn töteten.(dhs) Jn 11:53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.(nkjv) ======= John 11:54 ============ Jn 11:54 Therefore Jesus no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.(nas) Jn 11:54 ὁ οὗν ἰησοῦς οὐκέτι παρρησίᾳ περιεπάτει ἐν τοῖς ἰουδαίοις, ἀλλὰ ἀπῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν εἰς τὴν χώραν ἐγγὺς τῆς ἐρήμου, εἰς ἐφραὶμ λεγομένην πόλιν, κἀκεῖ ἔμεινεν μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν.
